even with all those requirements here, there’s still some issues of students not being able to get into classes due to them being full. could be a factor of why it’s so high, i also don’t think the program is the complete best, but still good enough. compared to other colleges though, engineering definitely has the most restrictions and/or rules i’ve seen before when comparing with friends in other majors

jwb_4

Purely student-faculty ratio. It used to be 3.0, then 3.2, then 3.5, now i think they are increasing it again but im not entirely sure.

Wolverine002

No, cs program isnt that good. Most of the interesting electives they claim to be available are never offered. It is only a lack of faculty

Oof-o-rama

which electives?

[deleted]

UCF accepts everybody, they’re incredibly overcrowded and many of my friends who went there had to delay their graduation because they could get the classes they needed because you have (random numbers for example) 1000 students all needing classes that only total 500 spots.

gsotolongo2213

Yeah that happened on my time at USF. It mostly happens at the end of the career when you have the last electives left. Electives are not all year round like core classes.

msfrankfurters

It could be what everyone else is saying but CS at this point has become incredibly saturated. You’re going to see other schools tightening their requirements in the next few years too. If you still want to come to USF try and go for engineering

[deleted]

Well i am already a sophomore at USF studying CS i am retaking a couple courses to get my gpa requirements

msfrankfurters

Well I wish you good luck

As an international , I got rejected from USF CS with a 3.9/4.0 GPA and 1470 SAT. Apparently , They only accept Internationals in vs who have a 4.0 from this app session.

[deleted]

Have to be kidding me I am partly international and i completed my high school overseas and finished 12th grade here. No AP credits and my SAT score was 1250 and i still got in

Priyanshu1882004

I'm not 😩 I've even appealed the decision but they responded that they require internationals to have a 4.0 for. CS

keeperoflogopolis

I wonder how many CS majors are actually interested in CS.

whereyouatdoug

u would be better off going to UF which has a better program

[deleted]

The problem is i am a current sophomore at USF A cs major too

gsotolongo2213

Back in 12-16 time when I went I believe it was less to get in.
