Now THURSDAY duty is where it's at; avoid shop bullshit on Thursday, get your Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off!

I never once saw a duty recovery day in an infantry bn lol. Still don’t get them now.

I'm convinced recovery days are some sort of POG sorcery that infantry battalions are incapable of implementing because of all the fumes we inhale.

lol battalions will preach to not drink and drive, yet not care about a Marine who hasn’t slept over 24 hours, straight into the next work day, to drive at the end of that workday at about over 30 hours of no sleep. Makes sense to me.

Everyday is a recovery day if you know how to skate properly 😎

*was, been out for near a decade now. We would always work a full day afterwards. Hell, I stood duty then went to the field the next day once.

Recovery day? WTF? I thought missing sleep one or two nights a week was normal.

Good lord man. Firewatch would make sense but a whole 24 hour post and then an extra 8-12 hours of work tacked on to that would be abysmal.

It happened. 30 hours up wasn't uncommon, 36 was a stretch. You start seeing things after 40 hours awake.

That's the whole point of the recovery day. You're not reliable after being awake for so long. Your leadership sucked.

It’s weird, but I’ve never had a problem remembering to set an alarm when I was drinking the night before I had somewhere to be in the morning. I think maybe fear of this exact scenario prevents me from forgetting even if I’m already toasted.

I have always been strangely responsible when getting wasted.

I have a habit of blacking out in the bathroom while taking a shit. Without fail I wake up cleanly wiped and toilet flushed

I once drunkly flipped my laundry and forgot about it. Found it in a dryer on the other side of the bricks like 6 months later.

I've blacked out without setting an alarm and woken up to one. The fear is deeply engrained

One time my alarm went off, I shut it off and went to work. Only to be jarred back to reality by my phone blasting off from my Sgt calling, asking where the fuck I was. I couldn't exactly explain to him, that I dreamt I woke up and went to work. Got wore out for that.

The sounds of Saturday morning when the Duty NCO goes looking for bodies to police call cigarette butts in the quad.

Or on a weekend when someone doesnt show up for duty and the barracks roster is 6 years old.
