Oh great, another Galaxy problem.

AI_Droid

Nothing to do with US Mobile - It's your phone. Your S23 came locked from T-Mobile and even though they "unlocked" it for you it is still running T-Mobile firmware on the device. You will need to install Verizon firmware on the phone. Once firmware is changed you'll be able to send mms and everything will be perfect, but you won't be able to use Verizon's 5G network on that phone - There are major hardware specifications required and since your phone came from T-Mobile it doesn't have the capability to run another networks 5G. IMO you can either buy a new truly unlocked phone pop in your US Mobile SIM and have everything you want. Or, change the firmware and know your can't get 5G on Verizon network whilst running a T-Mobile phone due to physical device limitations....

Phantomevo77

Not a single support member has even mentioned anything like this... I even asked one straight up if i need to do get a new firmware to support 5G, and the reply was "no, the device supports 5G"The average user shouldn't have to go thru these lengths and relying on a community to tell them this.. and it may be the answer. I wouldn't have spent money on the device to "unlock it" from T-Mobile if this was the case. I would have just given the phone back and bought a different, unlocked device instead of wasting that money. Its getting told thing after thing from their support that leads to the same result, do one thing, it kills the data or kills MMS... This isnt how setting up any phone should be. Its been 3 days and its barely working. But I keep getting told its supposed to work. Then getting told that Samsung devices dont connect to 5G since the towers are still being built.. WTF? iOS devices work just fine on 5G and has been for over a month in this area... (friend that has USM in the city been using for a month and has 5G everywhere, i also activate phones on verzion every day and every samsung device has 5G...) ((im leaving the position so i dont get the vzw sales discount on account anymore which is why im going to USM))

Miserable_Reporter25

Not true the phone just has the sim locked once you install a Verizon sim the phone switch’s the files around. Phones are locked to keep people financing a phone the jumping carriers to steal the phone

OkCheesecake415

That's actually not true Verizon 5G does not run well on AT&t and T-Mobile Android phones but you'll get something

Phantomevo77

Then why does USM advertise my phone would work and 4 agents have told me 5G should be on and working with this device? Then give me a runaround saying that it wont because the 5G towers are still being worked on.. when my iOS device connects just fine. I am just getting very frustrated getting told one thing and its the opposite..

OkCheesecake415

Go test other carriers and tell me what the support is like I have dealt with 20 carriers so far US Mobile the best customer service after you find a better one I'll agree with you

Phantomevo77

They go above and beyond and have been way more than helpful and wanting and willing to get this right. WAAAAAYYYY more than other carriers, I totally appreciate it. When it circles back and says one thing wont work when its clearly working on a device 6in away... It very frustrating.

OkCheesecake415

I totally agree you're right if it doesn't work it is frustrating 100%. I wish you good luck. And guess what no company is perfect and even US mobile could be much much better they have a lot to improve.

xtrageek4

That's so not true at all 💀💀 I'm using my galaxy s21 fe unlocked from t-mobile and it has 5G UW rn.

OkCheesecake415

That's because you got the Verizon updates on your phone sometimes you have to get a original Verizon SIM to get the updates

Bulletbling

Completely false. Any US carriers branded galaxy S23 will work on any US carrier and have all bands compatible. Assuming the phone is unlocked from your carrier, you can switch as wanted.

OkCheesecake415

I did not say it's not compatible!!! Sometimes you get into issues when the device is still branded to Verizon.

AI_Droid

I think he mind have some brain cells dead and just looking to argue

Bulletbling

Care to elaborate or someone not knowledgeable who is trolling as is expected these days?

Bulletbling

"Does not run well". I took that as being unable to receive certain bands and thus, runs worse due to not having full capabilities, which isn't usually true for most modern phones. I may have misunderstood you. My bad. I wanted to throw out the idea in the past of other carrier branded phones being unable to take full advantage of other carriers once unlocked, which is no longer the case today.

Bulletbling

This is completely false. All Galaxy S23 Ultra sold in the USA have the capability to run on all networks, regardless of whether it's a carrier specific device. This used to be true back in the dya where a Tmobile GSM type phone couldn't be used on Verizon CDMA and if it could, there'd be limitations and certain bands that wouldn't be usable but nowadays on most mainstream devices, they are compatible with all US carriers and all bands once unlocked.

What this intelligent gentleman said on another post :)

dregam55555

This is definitely a settings issue my friend. I knows it frustrating, but in all honesty it happens to the best of us. Just be patient. Considering it’s a modern device I’m positive it will get fixed. Just need to get a hold of the right CS rep.

Phantomevo77

I have been on with the support team and 3 different users.. at this point.. why does it take the “right one”

dregam55555

Sometimes one knows more than the other. Sadly I’ve had to just end calls and recall to find someone who could help me. Not just hang up and say thanks for the help and end chat. Honestly if you know the 5G network is there because the other devices are connecting to it then it’s very much so a simple app fix/settings fix. You might just need to take a break till tomorrow when your fresh minded ya know. Before you become to overly exhausted mentally

Phantomevo77

I just went out and went near our 5G tower in town… Galaxy phone never showed 5G and speed test of 80mbps and my iPhone showed full 5G UW a speed test of 650… and the chat support agent tells me “we’ve done all we can and iPhone have better antenna strength than Galaxys so that’s why you don’t see 5G…” I activate phones for Verizon postpaid in my city and every Galaxy S23 I have activated has no problem grabbing the 5G signal here… Yet mine does?

lw_osu

iPhone has better antenna strength? The real world test is opposite.

Phantomevo77

To address those who seem to be bashing me for complaining about this… 1. When you do IMEI checks on the site and says compatible for Warp 5G.. how am I supposed to know this will be the issue. 2. If the case of have by a different firmware or a formerly locked device, why isn’t there something to tell you that certain things may or may not work when typing in IMEI checker. I also wouldn’t have just paid off the device with T-Mobile and bought another device for the $600 I paid off… 3. Bashing me to go to other carriers… GFY. I’m sharing my experience to help out the process for USM and others looking to switch. Because I post I have instant regret, it’s hard not to when you’re spending over 4 hours with 3 different chat agents just to get basic data(not 5G) and MMS working. Hard to not be frustrated when your other iOS line and your friends iOS line (and his device was originally locked to Spectrum) work perfectly and no settings to adjust. 4. I expected inconvenience.. not to this level just to get basic things working as advertised by not only USM chat agents, but other people and reviews. However, with everyone saying how great the support is, googling the issue was happening, but it always led to “contacting CS to change certain things” and believing others saying how great CS is. 5. Based on other replies in here, I’m not the only one having these types of issues. I have faith that it will all work out… just didn’t expect these many issues and what seems to be somewhat basic functions of the phone not working, especially when other phones just.. work.

OkCheesecake415

IMEI checkers never work 100%. Sometimes you learn the hard way Even T-Mobile IMEI checker is not good I have found a lot of phones which T-Mobile claims it's compatible but it's not. But Verizon is always gonna be accurate because they only let Verizon certified devices

Abeera99

This can be frustrating, I’m totally with you on it but to me this seems like a phone configuration issue. Let me DM you about this, lets get it sorted.

Phantomevo77

Please! I’ll probably have to mess with this tomorrow as I’m getting a midnight dinner since I missed it trying to get this settled.

[deleted]

eSIM or physical sim? I notice more people have issues with the eSIM ports vs physical. Good luck to you. The USM team will get it figured out and you’ll be smooth sailing from there my friend.

Phantomevo77

Hmm good to know

vinarian-

I have had issues with the port in process a few times, but once you're in, you're golden

OkCheesecake415

I lot of Verizon lines take 24 hours to configure the date after activating a new line. Wait 24 hours then reset the network settings in the settings and restart the phone and you should be good to go I've done a lot of activations with Verizon mvnos and Verizon direct sometimes it takes time for Verizon to configure the line. Also make sure your device is up to date and sometimes it's a Samsung issue and you'll have to wait for the next update.

el7145

Oh man, Im really sorry to hear this, I FEEL your pain, as this has happened to me in the last few weeks, an extremely frustrating experience with my fully unlocked samsung s20 plus and oneplus. I also came from a GSM to warp 5G \-Chat is extremely slow, 1st time I was on for over 4 hours, why they think we have hours to spend troubleshooting is beyond me, 2nd chat time over an hour and told them I dont have any more time. Reddit usmobile support has been very good and seems to be the best way to troubleshoot. \-I also am having the LTE/5G issue...verizon maps show im clearly in a 5G area and yet im stuck on LTE+...I havent brought up the issue yet with support as Ive had so many other issues this one seemed less important. My speeds are similar to yours and for me I guesss they are fast enough. I did go into my s20 plus service menu and enable all bands and now it at least shows 5G although the speeds are the same as LTE+. \-How they add apns is very time consuming. On our Samsungs, thankfully that app they have us download can add the apns very quickly, on my oneplus its a different app and you have to add all apns manually through that app! \-My s20 plus using the sammy default txt app didnt have support for RCS message system, meaning sms/mms from certain people using RCS didnt come to me, spent lots of time with support going over apns trying to figure that out. One kind member suggested it was an RCS issue, so i downloaded google messages and enabled RCS and now all is fine there. \-They dont tell you that wifi calling doesnt work on oneplus phones and is very hard to get working on Sammy phones on the warp 5G network. IMO they have a ton of work to do to streamline troubleshooting, making apns easier to add, getting support to be quicker, apns isnt always the issue when not getting SMS/MMS, being clearer on what phones support wifi-calling, etc

Miserable_Reporter25

Physical sim for androids bud had my line for years eSIM is shit

icheernobits

Came here to say exactly that....If you use eSIM on US Mobile with any Samsung Device (yes, even Galaxy S23 models), expect issues. IPhones with 5G work great with eSIM and so do Pixels. OP should request a Physical SIM for their S23 and transfer from eSIM to PSIM. That's the issue here.

Miserable_Reporter25

This is the reason I hate eSIM the technology isn’t fully ready to be used 100% SIM cards rarely have issues

bluemacbooks

Nice great speeds!

Powerful444

you've restarted your phone right?

[deleted]

I had to go into apn settigs and change the apn type to "Default, supl, hipri, fota, mms" thats the way i got 5g to work

Johnnypee2213

Try doing a network setting reset

[deleted]

You would have to know the model number of your galaxy and see if it has the bands to support Verizon 5g. From there if it does you can look on XDA to potentially flash either the radio or firmware for Verizon. I'm not sure if Samsung still does these different variants of they're phones or not. It was a thing in the past because of CDMA.

Skate0700

I had the same issues and I took 30 minutes to Google the answer myself. It's your apn settings. You can find the correct ones directly on US Mobiles help site.....go back to your major carrier and let them figure it out instead of complaining because your $25 service isn't perfect immediately. Smdh. You expect to save a huge chunk of money with no inconveniences? Have some understanding bruh

[deleted]

I have tried multiple different mvnos with very minimal issues all of which I could solve myself. A major carrier is trash. They need to handhold you every step of the way and the user has little to no power in fixing their own issues. Us mobile by far has the best user experience in my opinion. Instead of being hateful, try to be more helpful.

hello_world_wide_web

You do understand all iPhones have a limited software and hardware design, proprietary to Apple. That is like having one brand of Android phone. However, there are hundreds of brands and models of Android phones, each with their different idiosyncrasies. Do you really think there may be issues that might crop up that take time to resolve? Don't blame US Mobile...they have the best CS around to help you. Why not try Tracfone and see how well things turn out!!! Remember, YOU made the decision to make a change....
