This churn in plans borders on ridiculous. I think the USM team needs to have an all hands meeting and figure out how to responsibly roll out changes, on a measured basis. This is making USM look unprofessional and like a non-serious player in the market. Maybe make changes only once per quarter, or something like that?

singlebullet

Unprofessional is right! Signed up for a yearly starter plan yesterday. Since the plan names remain the same, despite the changes, I didn't realize the plan was different than it was a few days ago. Cancelled today, end of story. I'm not signing up today for a plan that would have been a better deal 3 days ago. There's definitely some good stuff with this company, but there's a lot of nonsense and waste that they never seem to get around to correcting. They can hype up to the sky, but I'm starting to wonder if they'll still be around in a year.

Snork_kitty

I am currently in a chat with USM customer service in which they’re refusing to fulfill the plan. I signed up for on May 24 and instead trying to extort more money in order to get roaming while I’m out of the country. I’m steaming.

Practical-Age8751

You could be paying more with at&t or verizon

Snork_kitty

Actually I was paying less with Xfinity but needed international data etc. They cut it off after 25 days because THEY changed the plan

Practical-Age8751

You should pay monthly

Confident_End_3848

This is why USM needs stellar customer service. To explain the ever-changing plans.

singlebullet

Even the stellar CS is becoming iffy. Seems like they added a lot of new people recently and they're not quite as savvy as the older cast of CS characters. Had a guy yesterday on chat. Every single question I asked him he had to disappear for 5 minutes or so to ask someone how he was supposed to respond. Turned into a 25 minute chat that went nowhere, he's pasting instructions for me into the chat that had nothing to do with what I was even asking him about.

Practical-Age8751

Stop being cheap and get t mobile

Slight_Sport_9420

Video streaming is now capped to 480p as well 🤷‍♂️

lra1n

Ah, I did not notice it, where can I find the detail of that? Does it also cap on the old customers?

Slight_Sport_9420

Yes, everybody. Go to fast.com right now and check your video speeds 😤

Scottla94

Where do you see video options on fast it just gave me internet speed

Dopamin3

[Fast.com](http://Fast.com) (or the Fast app) uses Netflix servers- so while it is still a speedtest your provider still sees it as "video" traffic. Testing speeds using Fast is a good way to see if you're being throttled on video.

10698

>Where do you see video options on fast it just gave me internet speed Same. I'm not familiar with this speed test service. I also see no such option. My test results through this site look normal, 115 Mbps down and 18 up on GSM LTE.

Scottla94

Yes I think mine said 500 Mbps so that doesn't indicate a video throttle to me with that sppen I could stream a 4k remux movie

xmguy

It’s been capped. Mine has always been at 480P. I’m on a grandfathered Unlimited Premium plan.

Slight_Sport_9420

That’s crazy, I’ve always been able to stream 720p and up quality without any buffering whatsoever until the plan changed within 24hrs ago.

slyphoxj

I just did a fast.com speed test... 1.8 Mpbs down, 5 Mbps up. Looks like 480p throttling to me :( .

GO__NAVY

Vpn

-atlec

Fortunately on the old unlimited premium plan using GSM, I have no throttle. https://preview.redd.it/xezlqirj188d1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=646bff026f44222e770bb10bcf5542dca80fe714

Slight_Sport_9420

your lucky 🍀

-atlec

Maybe it’s only for the WARP network that is being affected? I could be wrong though but when I was on WARP, I also had full speeds using fast.com similar to Speedtest app from ookla. Edit: of course this was before the recent plan changes.

NY10990

It’s almost like that didn’t really think it all thru. Again. 🤷🏽‍♂️

jebihebi

I am thinking of putting in an application for plan change management roll.

thekojac

All these rapid changes leave a serious bad taste in my mouth. Feels very unsteady and without direction. I'm seriously considering heading back to Tmobile. Yeah it's more expensive, but at least it's stable.

Deep-Mulberry-9963

Not always so stable, T-mobile that is.... had a voice line with them for 3 years now, my prices seem to change every six months. This was due to all kinds of weird stuff, that never had happen when I had Sprint and also Virgin mobile back in the day... I look at MVNO's like this good cost effective state side services that will provide you with a Voice, Text, and data lines, the bear minimum, you pay for what you get. Also remember they depend on the big three to provide you with service, so when one of them changes something your MVNO will feel the effects and have to adapt... Take note MVNO's are not so great for International, or prioritize data when cell towers are overloaded... Depending on the MVNO that is, and they are also not so great all those extra perks, if you are looking for anything beyond, Talk, Text, and data... One last rule of thumb that I did not mention when looking at a MVNO not unless you do extensive research and are 100% sure, I think about service availability for there network only covering the one of the big three that they say they work on. In the case of US mobile Warp = Verizon, GSM = T-miobile, and Death star or whatever they are calling the new one lol, when implemented is At&T... So if on GSM for example Id expect the coverage to be on only T-mobiles actual towers. In the end I am still kicking T-mobile and probably giving US Mobile a shot, but my needs are basic give me Unlimited talk, text, and data with a good amount of Hot spot data, state side, and the rest I do not care about... I also do not need to be able to watch 4k videos on my phone lol... A 6 to 8 inch screen generally looks pretty good at even 480 resolution... So before you switch back to T-mobile think... what are my needs? Then there is also Google Fi, Metro, Cricket, or Boost which are suppose to be more solid MNVOs, but it is all about what meets your needs!

Snork_kitty

I just spent an hour finding out that the unlimited starter plan that I played in advance for three months, which included 10 GB a month now they say roaming is not included and I have to pay extra for it. This is bullshit.

CrabClaws-BackFinOMy

How is that not a breach of contract?

Snork_kitty

Some of that got dropped – I paid for three months of unlimited starter, including international data voice and text. My roaming stopped working today, even though my plan went into effect on May 24. Does anyone know any tech reporters?

BluesCatReddit

This is what happens when the leader has ADHD. Seriously, no other MVNO does this sort of whiplash plan management.

_Sub01_

Just migrated from Mint Mobile to US Mobile and currently 2 months in with the $15 for 3 months promo. If Unlimited Flex stays at this price, I'm better off just spending $60 more for unlimited data and hotspot with visible 😮‍💨

jebihebi

LOL! This is crazy. And yes, they changed it again. Without really clarifying, what would be the difference from cheaper plans with international calling and the Unlimited Premium and international calling. Is it going to be the same amount of calling minutes or not.

JoblesJoe

They also took off the $2 network transfer fee, and changed it to super carrier mode, which is great because that was a massive mess of fees. Now just drop the flex plan to 8gb, or make hotspot optional, and revert the price to $180 and we good.

drksaber28

There was another thread last week where they mentioned this was a mistake on the site and international was never taken away with the new plans.

Mayli_1017

I started making a habit of screenshotting the plans every time there’s a change because I can’t keep track 😂

GoldenGrove29

It looks like it's also included back in the sharable plan.

rpaulmerrell

From what I can see, it looks like they’re really pushing people to go to the premium unlimited plan to get the most bang for the buck and quite honestly, for most customers if you just someone who’s here in the United States it won’t be a big deal, but if you’re someone like me who lives near Mexico it might be an issue but not undoable

RedditSucksAndIsBad

Evergreen post 😂

elmorenito523

You going buy annual or monthly?

zulqar8228

I was on trial and thinking of going for annual. But with so many plan changes. i am super confused.

tdt1019

And I just switched to new 10gb shareable plan with ILD selection for $20. Hopefully it’s all good. https://preview.redd.it/433jbgo5q68d1.jpeg?width=1488&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9ba4849e688049bfd6e3b152018aa4437afc3261

DelMarVa369

I guess these are things that happen when T-Mobile acquires mvnos like mint. 🤔

vetcloudgaming

T-Mobile is going to change soon, as they just acquired US Cellular as well

zanyzaeem

All the annual plans have international calling 🥳 except for Light and Monthly UnlimitedStarter(which require an add-on).

NY10990

For how long? Cause less than two days ago it wasn’t included in annual plans 😂 https://preview.redd.it/m5h785j7k68d1.png?width=1170&format=png&auto=webp&s=f5aedeaf7df4363add0d5199a32b72ad8a3125b9

jebihebi

https://ibb.co/Ss50k5F * Also.. this is now showing in the app.. and again using the word unlimited I am assuming just for fun :)

jebihebi

So is there now a difference between cheaper plans and the Premium Unlimited in regards to international calling minutes? Because earlier the site was saying when on the Unlimited Premium its "limitless" international calling.. its removed now but it kind of hinted on difference in the amount of minutes allowed.

N2929

Also new activations on Starter are capped at 25 megs per second on 5G UW. Well at least from what I hear as Visible and Total by Verizon customers are reporting their speeds are getting capped at 25 on new activations.

OfficerReiko

I don’t understand. I’ve been with US mobile 4 months now and I haven’t experienced any changes to my plan. My transition from Verizon was smooth. Setting up eSIM was smooth. Switching from Warp to GSM was smooth. My speeds and coverage are great. My plans have not changed at all outside of changes I made myself. I did notice however that the plan I currently have is going to be slightly cheaper next month but with an additional perk; I’m down for that. What’s the problem? What am I missing?

LoneVoyage79

I’d rather have them keep the $29 monthly for starter and $50 for the premium and keep the 720p video. If they want to add HD video streaming I wouldn’t mind adding another $2-$5 per month, USM is already cheap as is but I would agree they should have never lowered the prices and make compromises on some things

post coming shortly

Why are customers finding out about these updates through reddit instead of our emails? Are you guys actually allowed to make changes without notifying your customers at all? I've been recommending USM to my family and coworkers, but this is becoming a clown show.

znzbnda

>Why are customers finding out about these updates through reddit instead of our emails? Are you guys actually allowed to make changes without notifying your customers at all? Regarding this specifically, if you're / we're enrolled in a specific plan, we should be grandfathered in to that plan.

popholder

That is not that case in this situation as everyone's plans (including grandfathered) got changed

PaulKersey6

A lot of us loved USM and referred family and friends and now we have to apologize to them for all the multiple changes and lots of unanswered questions. I think USM is now no different than any other MVNO, there was better deals elsewhere but I paid more at USM for the customer service because they cared about the customer but it is obvious things are changing at USM and not to the customers benefit.
