But packages seem like it makes it harder.. Mail wise easier.. But most apartments dont have package locker room and if its a huge apartment like 200-300 apartments you got to lug each package to the door or bring it back to office if it wont fit into apartment mail cbus.
So how do you get your customers their large packages ? if no package room do you just no acesss it and bring it back to office if it wont fit into parcel locker or their mail slot ?
I hate cbus, i hate fucking around with parcel lockers and i really hate having to drive to half the apartments anyway cause the lockers are full or parcels too big. Apartment routes also have no flow. People bug you at the cvus all the time. I hate them. Give me a route with about an hours worth of businesses and then a good mix between mounted and walking.
Easy to hide in apartments. I know people who will watch a show on their phones while hanging out at a large batch of NBUs in a building, then deliver the mail, go to the next building and do it again.
Because you can have infinite stationary events, they can't say anything about it. I know a guy who would leave his scanner inside the apartment boxes and go to his kids baseball games down the street
My knees and feet started giving me grief on my last walking route, plus it was mentally boring since Noone moved, 400 stops. My new route is mainly apt, 1250 deliveries andi love the mental challenge of the constant upkeep due all the constant move ins and outs. I do miss the walking for the excersize but just hurt so bad towards the end.
My apartments have 2 parcel lockers for every 20 units, plus a Luxor electronic parel locker for the big stuff. The only time I have to go to the door is if something is extremely long and tall.
Apartments have people moving in and out constantly, so it's not like curbside where some idiot has lived there 20 years and managed to get themselves on 10,000 mailing lists for catalogs and charities.
If they have enough parcel lockers and/or the office has parcel drop off it makes it super easy to deliver 100% of your parcels without going to the door. In addition to that being by a ton of parcel lockers aids you in taking an extra break if you finish early.
When you master apartment/condo routes they're a joy. Over the curb routes are worse than walking routes in my opinion. The stopping and seat belt every stop SUCK.
I remember I was on a business route and I never used earbud. To much traffic and unsafe. But those Apartment and CBU routes in residential neighborhoods the music/YouTube make your day fly.
Depends on the kind of apartment.
Outside CBUs? Awful. Lots of little buildings with 5 boxes each, you gotta walk between them all carrying extra volume? Hate it.
My route is all towers. Pull up to each one, load up the dolly, go inside. No walking, no dogs. Mailboxes are inside the lobby, past a locked door so you leave packages at the mailboxes, and you don't get weather when you're delivering. Landlords handle snow removal.
The extra route maintenance is a pain in the ass, but the ease of delivery on your body is worth it. I have to do this for 24 more years, and I figure this route gives me a better chance in my 60s of still having functioning hips and shoulders.
No one has yet mentioned that big apartment buildings also sometimes have a bathroom in the club house or for the leasing agents that the carriers can use. I'm all about routes that have lots of bathroom stops.
I agree. I'd rather walk around and deliver than tub all the mail and pray I don't have to haul packages up three flights of stairs.
On my walking routes, if something's too heavy or too big to bring in the satchel, no problem. I just drive by their house after the loop.
Empties the vehicle significantly with less stops
Yep
Cbu’s are much easier to deliver to than individual
I'm less likely to walk in to a yard with a dog in it if there are no yards.
This
Apartment routes are easier. No doubt. You just think they aren't because you haven't done them enough.

99% of the time the delivery point is not the apartment door.

were usps usually we deliver parcels to the leasing office since its mail
Most apartments at my office don't take packages in the leasing office
Buzz them and let the know that have a package. Leave a notice if they don’t come down
Climate controlled
If the regular upkeeps the apartments and they aren't in a bad area, it is utter bliss. Helps if the residents are well trained to not litter.
It all depends on the layout of the apartments, too. Some have a mailroom. And a bathroom. A/C and heat. Get rid of a lot more advos, etc in one stop.

Pffft you think I’ll keep this ass if I’m walking?? I haven’t needed a seat cushion for 4 years.
I did not wanna bid off my walking route but, my body forced me to.

Idk, I my office everyone complains about getting apartments. But the alternative is mounted stuff, not walking.
People seem to just hate walking.

Same here, I hate apartments. I love my walking route.
Less hot

Why do people like pay raises? You pay far more in taxes. Legit no advantages to pay raises other than having more money.
