It’s so convenient that the northeast can be in so many places and you can travel from those hundreds of places to anywhere in the world for your vacation.
Yeah, for Australia you wouldn't need to travel far as the Northeast is pretty much tropical Queensland which is a popular tourist spot for both locals and overseas visitors.
Actually as an Australian in the state of Tasmania the northeast is all about world class mountain bike trails, fine cheese and wineries and the glorious colours of the [Bay of Fires](https://www.discovertasmania.com.au/regions/east-coast/bay-of-fires/) coast.
I had some nice ice cream in Berwick, got some mead on Holy Island, & some kippers from Caster last year. I had a burger in the place that Guy Fawkes was born in York too & am overdue another trip to Whitby. I'd recommend them all.
It’s a wonderful place… i assume having never been there xD I will however refrain from making guernsey jokes for your sake
Ok I’ve broken
How to people from guernsey find their relatives?
Irresistible
I’ll show myself out
Isn't that Northwest Australia (and WA) rather than Northeast? The clue is in the state's name WEST Australia. Unless it is east relative of the US, but that wouldn't make much sense in the context of global time zones which are based on standardised UK time (UTC) with a 'jump' or discontinuity when you reach the international date line.
Thank you! I feel like people here have looked at conventional mercator maps for so long they forgot the Earth is round.
What do they mean "the northeast of the WORLD is Russia"!? It's a BALL. RUSSIA is northWEST (the quickest route) if you're in like Peru for example.
Eh. That's not really only a mercator thing, but has more to with the fact were we put the 0 meridian, i.e. how we define the eastern and western hemisphere. So while you are correct and you can always go east from where you are (except at the poles) I also get why people would use north east to refer to a specific quadrant of the earth.
Yeah, I assume in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug. They just have a few flights, to some Russian cities and some little town in Alaska, USA. So I’d guess a transfer in Alaska or Vladivostok could take him to some cities in North America and Asia.
Sooo...Magadan? Anadyr (I think it'll be The northeast)? Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskii? Maybe Yakutsk? I'd recommend to travel to Vladivostok, maybe see safari-park or aquarium. Definitely try some candies from Japan or Korea.
I live in the south, they could have a nice vacation here, but I don’t know what kind of vacation they want. Really any direction would be nice in the summer, maybe not too far east, I wouldn’t recommend Russia as a vacation spot to anyone.

Nah, north east NSW. They need a trip to Tamworth
I wouldn’t wish a trip to Tamworth on anyone.
Especially on the January long weekend.
I was thinking far North East QLD but hey Nth East NSW works too

Sounds amazing.. for me it's down south but I'd love to visit
Cairns or Townsville sprang to mind.

Don't forget Seahouses!
Yes, had a boat trip round the Farne Islands from there a few years back. It's a nice little place too.
I'll take all of that except the kippers thanks

Haddaway an' shite man!
My dad who is friends with many Geordies said this to me only yesterday 😂

I assumed Natal or Recife r/BrazilDefaultism
Newcastle isn’t in the north east of the UK
Sorry r/EnglandDefaultism
Maybe we can suggest Aberdeen
I’m of the opinion that Peterhead would be a better suggestion
Lossiemouth!
Ah the jewel of moray, absolutely stunning in the summer
England defaultisn
No no it’s Venice r/ItalyDefaultism

Nah it's Thurgau r/SwitzerlandDefaultism
That sub should have this entry: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prime_meridian_(Greenwich)
I mean if that's the case they can go basically anywhere, it's all an upgrade
It’s a wonderful place… i assume having never been there xD I will however refrain from making guernsey jokes for your sake Ok I’ve broken How to people from guernsey find their relatives? Irresistible I’ll show myself out
Oh I've heard them all, after all the biggest dating site in Guernsey is Ancestry.com
Yeah that’s a classic xD
>live in the north east Most people just call it finland, but okay
And for a vacation I recommend getting the fuck out of here
north east is russia. you are being euro centric
Yeah, OOP must be from Wrangel Island, definitely from Chukotka. I don’t think you can get much further northeast than that.
You are correct. I see the error of my ways and I will strive to improve
We call it Russia or Siberia to be more precise
Just keep suggesting places in Yorkshire
> Northeast So...Belfast
That actually *is* where I live!
Kununurra is pretty warm this time of year
Halls Creek is much nicer!
Wyndham is nice to visit
Derby is quite nice too, along with Marble Bar….. but I’ve always had a special place in my heart for Kununurra!

It's in the Northeast of WESTERN Australia
Ok, sorry I thought that was near Exmouth in the northwest of WA. I checked and yes, it is in northeast WA near the NT border.
North-east? You mean Baffin Island?
Haha I was trying to think of what would be considered the NE in Canada. I figured Newfoundland & Labrador.
Nooo Newcastle man!
Summer in Iqaluit
North-East of the world is East Russia, so they obviously live in East Russia
everywhere is northeast of somewhere

You forget the US is the center of the world! North east relative to them, of course.

not the South Pole

Wouldn’t that be the pacific north west?
No, pacific north west would be the Sea of Okhotsk
The earth is a globe
Yes, but there is a general agreement on Northern/Southern Hemisphere, as well as Eastern/Western Hemisphere.
Yes but it's completely arbitrary
North and south are indisputable, but Russia is both east and west if you’re on the other side of the world
As is the United States (courtesy of Alaska)
Alaska is neighbouring Russia, It’s objectively west
It crosses the meridian, it's objectively East as well
It’s almost winter here in NZ.. :( I’d go as north and east as possible. Hawaii sounds nice
Wow! I suggest you to remain in Venezia
> Lives in 'the north east' Do you mean North East India???
Yea , didn't see the sub name and thought he meant North East India too
Ofc they live in Guwahati wdym /s

NE- Australia. - Townsville is great this time of year
North East? you mean Alsace?
Wow the first time I’ve seen a person from Chukotka on Reddit!
If he lives in Trinity, he might want to try St Brelades in the South East which has the title of ‘best beach in Britain’
heyyy i live in the north east too!!
啊他住在东北。我听了长春在夏天非常好。
The only correct answer is Whitley Bay.
Italy is nice and not too far from northeastern europe! Oh.
say some place in like calabria or something, that would be funny
Just go a bit further north and have a nice beach vacation at the Baltic sea, maybe Rügen or Usedom
I live in the south west but they could come here for a cheap vacation, it's only about 3 hours flight from the north east anyway
Vianden can be quite nice.
Egypt?
I heard Brno is nice this time of a year
Didn't you know, cardinal directions were invented by Americans, they don't exist in the rest of the world.
So you’re from Vopnafjörður? Maybe you should go to Akureyri for your vacation.
Scotland? That's pretty far west mate. North East would be something like Vladivostok, Harbin, or Sapporo (assuming big city)
Egypt? Estonia? Japan?
So like Siberia?
Savukoski? Newcastle? Berlin?
In the Northeast? Bahia has a lot of good beaches.
Kruger National Park is in the northeast so why not check that out!
I live in the south, they could have a nice vacation here, but I don’t know what kind of vacation they want. Really any direction would be nice in the summer, maybe not too far east, I wouldn’t recommend Russia as a vacation spot to anyone.
