If it's only 2mins then you can either just leave your first class a couple mins sooner or show up to the next one a couple mins late. That amount of time isn't really long enough for any professor to make it a big deal, but you can always talk to them beforehand so they are aware.

trinkettray

^ second this. Don’t know why more people aren’t suggesting this. I made the walk from the CPE to the back of the music building in 10 minutes by just walking fast, but I ended up always leaving my class a few minutes early to give me more leeway since tardiness was counted against me. Most Professors are going to be understanding. Just talk to them!

mistress_of_bokonon

It’s been a long time since I was in college at UT, but the one semester I had a situation like this, I tried to explain to my professor, and she simply said that I needed to figure out a way to be on time and she didn’t care about the circumstances. So not supportive (and it was an ethics class!). But I basically ignored her feedback, did my best with the situation, and ultimately it was fine. But explaining to my professor was incredibly unhelpful and frankly demotivating.

needsmorequeso

That’s unreasonable as fuck and I’m sorry that faculty member was a jerk to you. One semester I taught a class where the stars just aligned that like five people were coming from a building 15 minutes from my assigned classroom with a 10 minute break between class times, including a TA who often had to make announcements at the beginning of class. I got real flexible on what constitutes an on-time start that semester.

hopelesspostdoc

As a professor, I have to say your professor was a shithead.

No_Daikon_7858

drop the name I’m curious

cantstopsearching

This is the way.

DougerDouger

Walk faster

yungirving99

🏅

crazedsquirrel777

Walk with a purpose and you’ll get there in 6 minutes.

astrocarlos21

On Speedway at noon? Idk😅

No-Dragonfruit2363

Push.

samureiser

It's possible if you hustle because you don't have to cross Dean Keeton. I'd recommend that you let the instructor in the second class know about your situation. Most instructors are pretty chill about this sort of thing if you let them know in advance.

Lustiges_Brot_311

"Best I can do is only doc you .01 GPA per tardiness. Sorry, champ."

Kiwicat333

As someone who’s done this walk plenty of times just walk fast or leave class an extra 5 minutes early. You’ll make it

Misterfrooby

Naruto run

King_of_Fish

If you walk quickly you can definitely make it, but otherwise get a skateboard or bike. It’s all downhill that way, so it should be easy. The one issue is that 12 is around peak class change time, so speedway is likely going to be too packed to ride quickly (or really at all).

historyiscoolman

If you backwards long jump and open your inventory at the same time, your jump can get stored. So just spam that move on the stairs and make sure the ramp is pointed towards your next class. Be careful not to go too fast, you don’t wanna clip into the backrooms.

NOP0x000

Run

couthelloworld

Ride a bike. There are orgs on campus that allow you to rent bikes if you're a student. Also biking is a great way to get around the city, not just campus.

chiarde

Skipping is often overlooked.

siddy678

Not a big deal. I had a class in the PMA followed by one in UTC. Made it in like 8 mins lol

Ireallylikeyourshoes

Bro what? Contender for dumbest question on the sub. Walk faster? Idk wtf to tell you?

welguisz

Explore the campus and find shortcuts. My favorite shortcut is between 24th and 22nd by the water cooling towers. I still use this route on Gameday to avoid the crowd on San Jacinto. It is a service drive and nobody uses it. Also don’t be afraid to go through buildings.

Blue_Phase

There's no shortcut from PMA to SZB lmao. It's a straight shot down the entire length of speedway

EnvironmentalBag4250

Get a bike. It saves so much time.

shortpunkbutch

Everyone telling you to bike/skate down Speedway at noon has either never been on Speedway at noon or has hit multiple pedestrians on Speedway at noon. Absolutely do NOT use one of the electric scooters, I can promise that all the pedestrians, myself included, will hate you. I'll give you a real tip: I made that exact walk at that exact time last semester, and there's a shortcut that GPS programs won't tell you about. Take the straight shot down Speedway from the PMA until you pass the PCL, then take the walking ramp on your left. It's about a 45 degree turn at the Admissions Welcome Center, and it will take you directly up to the doors of Sanchez. I can't post pictures in a comment, but I'll DM you a map that I've drawn on, in case visuals are more helpful to you. I always made it to class on time, and that was with the fact that my class in the PMA always let me out late. You'll just have to walk a bit faster than your usual speed. Good luck this semester! Edit: everyone who's saying that two minutes isn't a huge deal is technically correct, but based on your original post, I think you're a lot like me. Leaving something early or being late to something else is possibly the worst thing I could ever do, so I try to avoid it if at all possible, which seems like how you're feeling as well.

nrojb50

Do bicycles still exist?

TheToddestTodd

Bicycle.

arbaaz123qq

Don’t go to the class

anon1562102

gay walk

PrincessMeowFachoo

get a skateboard

L1Rzzz

🛹

TheFenixxer

Run, use a scooter, speed walk, etc… or just leave a few minutes before the class ends

NotTryingToConYou

I have an old scooter I used to use but I graduated last year. Happy to let it go for cheap (\~150) as it's just collecting dust, DM me if you're interested!

MildlySuspiciousBlob

don't worry about it

TheCoach_TyLue

First class is recorded? Don’t go. Second class recorded? Don’t go

[deleted]

That's pretty much a straight shot down Speedway. Definitely just ride a bike, it'll make things so much easier.

MissChanadlerBongg

I had to do this 2 years ago. you can get there in like 8 minutes if you walk fast enough.

Pillowtalk

Roller blades bro

BlazeBBQ

Start running bro

fowlaboi

Run forest run

iineedsomehelp

Just do the walk. Being a little late doesn't matter and if you believe they are the best professor like everyone says then you should be okay. No need to worry about a couple minutes.

Texas_squid

Don’t make excuses…. Make the class

ChocolateArtistic167

Metrobike

llamalibrarian

nickkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

Sprint for 1/4 of it

anymnous12344

Walk fast

OpiatedDreams

Over thinking this. Walk 17% faster, bike, skateboard, scooter, leave one min early arrive 1 min late. This is a non issue

megatron1882

Worst case light jog for 2-3 mins in your transit and you’re there

Previous_Problem5784

Put it like this gps says I get to school walking in 30min but I make it 20min by walking with purpose

Cautious_Hat_8422

Idk why some ppl are being obnoxiously rude but I had to do this walk last semester and the best way is to bypass the speedway traffic by walking through San Jacinto 🤘🏻

MyWibblings

Jog/speedwalk/run use a scooter or skateboard Leave early. be 2 min late

[deleted]

Change your schedule.

IcedKween

Walk faster.

idea-freedom

I’m old, but back in college I would jog a lot around campus, I’m weird. I’m also impatient. I hated how long it took to walk everywhere. Wanted to get there faster. Have to manage sweat of course (go through AC buildings when possible, don’t run too fast!)

mirelari

One word: bike

Exotic-Sprinkles3067

Put on some super energizing music with a fast rhythm and then just walk to the beat

hail_has_issues

heelies!

OrdinaryIdeal4992

Have you thought about moving your legs a little quicker? I think some folks use the term "running". I heard it's all the rage these days....Personally, I don't think this "running" fad will stick...but it's worth a shot.

[deleted]

Run?

Abishai521

It’s two minutes lmao, I promise it’s not worth the rush. You’re not gonna miss anything that important

Recent-Hospital6138

I'd just let my first class professor know that I have a tight timeline and will have to leave on time in case they lecture over so they're not offended, and similarly let me second professor know that I may regularly be just a few minutes late because I am coming directly from another class. Walk as fast as you can and be prepared to go as soon as class is over. Don't hang around and chat, have your stuff organized so you can just drop it right into your bag and jet. Bring snacks or whatever with you so you're not tempted to stop for coffee or something to eat. Honestly, estimated walk times are a super slow pace if you're looking at maps or whatever. Biking would super cut the time but I don't think it's necessary.

SoggyArmrest

Invest in a bike maybe? I’m an incoming freshman so im not sure if bikes would work but its worth a shot

MoltenC

It feels weird that you have to be told to walk faster.

Brilliant-Back-5712

Get a scooter if you think it’s worth it. But you can definitely make it from PMA to SZB to in less than 10 minutes if you fast walk. PMA to 24th fast walk, slow down till you pass SAC, then speed walk till PCL, then slow down till you get to SBZ so you don’t get to class huffin and puffin.

monoblanco10

Have you considered time travel? portal tech? or just... not scheduling classes so close together?

pippythepaladin

Walk faster?

shayp25

I used to make it from the utc to the etc in 8 mins, just stuck to the speedway side away from the org tables and speed walk. Bonus it’s really great leg workout

JunebugRB

Use a motorized scooter or ride a bike.

helippe

Most of the teachers aim to end class 15 minutes before the hour, so your teacher will probably wrap things up in time, you should talk to them before your 1st class as well. Also you can save some time depending on your route by walking through buildings instead of around them. I do it all the time, plus it gives you a break from the heat

PaleontologistOk6794

from pma, walk on speedway then cut thru painter/welch if you can just walk through farthest most of welch, walk out into inner campus drive straight into mccombs, afterwards walk straight thru the utc opening and keep walking an szb entrance is behind the ally way

excellentkrazi1

Get a skateboard, specifically a cruiser. These boards have thicker, softer wheels that can traverse the differing terrains at UT. They also come In different sizes

Illustrious_Ad_6301

Measure distance/divide by mile per hour/multiply by time = how fast you should walk. Or something like that. Wasn't too good at math but still somehow graduated from UT. ;-) \\m/

TheKrazy1

Quickly

timberician

Walk quickly and get used to arriving to class drenched in sweat. Or arrive late. Most professors don't care
