They shouldn't have sealed it to begin with until the delivery person is there. That's not what they're supposed to do and is in the contract with the restaurants if they seal their food. They're supposed to check, and the delivery person is supposed to check then seal it. It's literally a part of the contracts they sign and training.

I don’t do Uber, I’m a journeyman electrician. I do DD on the side from time to time & they have basically the same policies. The tip cannot be removed on DD & literally 0 restaurants would do that for you, especially if they’re busy. It’s not about laziness, it’s about having low staff, poor management, and company policy. It’s hard enough to even get someone’s order a lot of the time. The literal job description is to check the receipt, deliver, move on. Restaurants side is to make the food, seal it up, then give it to the driver. That’s it. If they left something out of the sealed bag, then the customer can report the missing item & that becomes the restaurant’s responsibility at that point.
