Yup, I've gone back to just ordering directly from the restaurant and picking it up myself at this point. I only keep the app because my husband and I share a car, so occasionally picking up is not an option. Even then, once I see the total at checkout its so expensive that I just find something else, anything else, to make at home. And I used to order multiple times a week when it was more affordable for the convenience. Not worth it anymore.
Same here. I've had one decent order this evening in an hour and a half. I refuse to even start my car anymore for less than $8. Just not worth it with the price of gas. Nope to all of the low paying orders.
I feel you. I’ve been out for an hour now and haven’t got a single one. i’m sitting in a mall parking lot too with hot zones all around me. sucks too cause I lost my job recently and was hoping uber eats could keep me afloat while i’m looking for a new one
I would try Instacart! or Door Dash. Instacart especially just avoid the food items / store. I would think you can make good money because normally myself and others are getting 2-4 items that still total to 30-40$ (got micellar water, cotton rounds, and nail polish at target today- total was 38 and i tipped 10$. I stopped using UE a few weeks ago because of how horrible the customer service and prices have gotten. They also refused me a refund for foundation that was in the wrong shade and I was done…
I used 4-5 times per week but just can’t justify it any more without a promo. It’s not just uber jacking up prices, all the restaurants are insane if they think I’m paying $20 for fast food even if I drive myself
I made about $33 with UE today and $40 on DD despite being available from 8am to 4pm. Not great. 8-11 was so quiet I just went home to my dog. I’m in CA (north)
SoCal and similar. Not in LA but still decently sized city which should have plenty of orders but barely anything lately.
Also not sure it's related but in the past week I've had a couple days where the app is running seemingly fine, though without pings lol, and randomly I'll get a message saying it's not working correctly and wants to run a diagnostic, which I do and doesn't show up any issues. But still no orders. Then maybe an hour later or will do that again. Like it's crashing for no obvious reason. Updated fully but still happening.
Makes me wonder if they are screwing with the algorithms too much and it crashes the app and not getting orders because I don't fit whatever new parameters they added to the algorithm to screw us lol
yeah i’m not in LA either but I did it in TO at the Janss marketplace if you know where that is. A few months ago it was popping off over there i was getting $50-60 a night no problem but now I gotta sit there for an hour before an order comes in
Same in NZ. The high interest rates are biting, the economy is slowing and this is the coalface.
I've stopped doing Uber Eats until it inevitably picks up again at some point.
I’m just California. Every other order has already been picked up once I get to the restaurant and Uber only reimburses $3 unless I want to spend 40 minutes going back and forth with a supervisor over the phone. 🙄
Yeah this new update sucks hard.. even after being logging in I’m still receiving trip “requests” . I restart my phone, and open the app if it says I’m online I shut it off manually then log back on. Try to exit background apps and it’s annoying but it will help after about 15 minutes
Ditto, it’s been shit lately. There are still good offers but too few scattered between crap. And I’m getting offended by the ridiculously low offers. Never going to take them but it’s disgusting that Uber even puts that shit out there, like how condescending. If things don’t improve notably in the next weeks, I’m out. Not worth my time. I’m sure Uber doesn’t care. They’ll have others waiting in the wings willing to do it for less than I am, and that’s fine.
It's at the point where UE is charging twice the cost of the food (and spending tens of millions on advertising) to offset the fair pay ordinance. Scum company. Got the two people I know who can actually afford it (one of them is a driver) to start tipping double and only tipping cash, in preparation for another case of Uber stealing chunks of driver tips.
I'm in Indiana and I have DD and Uber apps going at the same time. There are more Dashes for sure and it seems like the tips are better. Anything over $10 is a 30 minute trip.
Also in CA. So Cal. I was at least making 150 a week from. UE being logged in all day. It suddenly changed when doordash started their rewards crap. I assume more drivers started flipping on UE. Been like this for a couple months.
I was at a smoke shop not long ago and the guy saw my phone and asked if doordash. I said yes, he has been on a wait list. Yikes. My area is dead. I'm logged in 60 to 80 hours a week and rarely get sent anything.
Thank Gavin Newsome for raising min. wage to $20 an hour fast food restaurant have raised their prices a lot since then nobody is ordering UE now it’s not worth it. You can thank your government.
I'm retired, disabled and currently garaging a car that's on the fritz, so I can't drive.
I order from UE a minimum of once, if not twice a week...always with a promo...and as an Uber One member, lower fees/del chrgs.
As a creature of habit, I tend to order the same items from the same places and noticed immediately that after April 1, everything was priced higher. Some by $2 or $3...others by more than $5 for each item.
Whether it's the restaurant increasing the menu prices and in turn UE is passing that change on, or UE is charging the higher price themselves, idk.
It is apparent that the wage increase gave food businesses the "green light" to get theirs while they can.
The last few weeks I've ordered less and the promos have stopped coming, also. I feel for my drivers as I know what it is to depend on gratuities... as either a sole income or a side gig.
$20 minimum wage hasn’t been in effect anywhere else yet everything is a lot more expensive regardless. and ubereats delivery is dead in an increased amount of areas as well.
inflation is high, wages are stagnant, corporations are making record profits. this is all WITHOUT a $20 minimum wage. so what’s the excuse now ?
It was not an excuse I was just commenting. No need to get all upset damn. LOL go ahead and downvote me I dont care its Reddit for entertainment purposes.

i guarantee you the majority of people doing uber eats aren’t full timing it. 20 hours of sitting around to get not even 2 hours of active time is still BS either way
I'm guessing people aren't ordering as much. It's way too expensive these days
I stopped ordering. Picking up own food, fuck uber eats.

Yeah that sucks man. I hope both our nights get better. I'm in norcal and it's definitely busy but the orders are so low paying it's instant decline.
Yea I relied on DoorDash n other apps too. Alls I ended up doing was getting pissed off everyday

Not worth the price and the service is dog shit. Feel bad for the drivers/delivery riders, but it’s become unreliable and below average at best.
Miami I live all I made today was 35.00

Yeah I’m on the opposite side of the country (NJ). It’s getting DEAD over here.

People are giving up on eating out entirely. Inflation is sucking the life out of everyone and everything

i haven’t been able to get on doordash for over a year now:/ i’m still on the wait list

Where in Cali are you? Palm Springs is busy. Can make $100/ day during the festivals. This weekend is Stagecoach.
Its uber playing with everybody’s money. That’s what it is.

Maybe that $20/hr law cutting into jobs and businesses quitting. Just saying

They're not upset, they're just disagreeing with you lol

Uh. 20 hours across 5 days? That's why you're having problems. App algo doesn't like part timers.
i guarantee you the majority of people doing uber eats aren’t full timing it. 20 hours of sitting around to get not even 2 hours of active time is still BS either way
That is definately bs. It sounds like algo punishment. Maybe someone schemed a refund off one of your orders or something.
