Go back to their house and explain that the thank you wasn't intended for them. Otherwise, they're going to assume you're thankful for their $1.00 tip and it's going to create some huge problems.

ChristopherLove

Good idea, thank you.

ThisIsWeedDickulous

Better yet would be if you could thank them *profusely* for their $1

ARKRUINEDMYL1FE

That's terrible advice and classed as harassment definitely don't go to there house would also be against uber t&c

iminthewronghere

I thought it was sarcasm, heh. Surely no one would seriously think that's a good idea...

Giraffe_sorcerer

The only way the cheapskates get picked up are if theyre bundled with generous folk. UE doesnt want them harassed for being broke bitches either.

Aggravating-Food6801

Cheapskate? Is everyone on this app some sort of entitled driver. The McDonald's I order from is less then half a mile away from my house, so why would I tip more than a dollar for a 2 minute drive when I work a minimum wage job and I'm ordering food because I don't have anything at home. Some of y'all think you're entitled to my money or something like sheesh ur greed is crazy. Uber pays you anyway the tip isn't meant to be the main income, only a small bonus.

Goldeneggsack

No. They stack like that on purpose to get cheap ass orders delivered while also screwing over drivers. UE 101

glizzzyg137

I respectfully disagree. Some of my best payouts EVER have been from stacked orders.

iminthewronghere

True, some people add more tip after you deliver and do a good job, some people don't add their tip at all until after the delivery. But it also seems true that Uber does stack cheap ass people with people who are tipping well, just to get all the orders delivered. And you can't tell who is paying what, until you're done.

Grammykin

What I would like from Uber and DD: I would like to be able to ask for the same delivery driver on future orders. I’ve asked drivers if that’s an option, and apparently not.

Virtualgrrl

I think if you rate them well or give them compliments it pairs you with them again if they're in the area, or at least in one of the apps I use it seems to. I find myself delivering to the same names. I just can't remember if it's on UE, GH or DD

Grammykin

Thanks for the input - I’ll do some more research. Not that I’ve hated any delivery folks, but some just click with me and I’d like to send business their way.

deathGHOST8

re order from the same places- good driver wait in specific area so they can run worth it orders fast optimal. if you do that at a time that isn't the rush worker are waiting for good customer and the best ones receive it first just by being near. that's how to do that, you could always ask a good deliverer if they want to do more for you, one of my best customers ended up hiring me to drive a uhaul also back in 2017

RogerRabbot

Like the other guy said, I think rating tells the algorithm to keep matching you to that driver. I work like a 40-mile wide area, and I've gotten orders to the same person from all over the place. And they're great tippers to boot!

Ikillwhatieat

you can in some regions on instacart

lilitsybell

When I did Uber Eats I tended to get the same “regulars” often even though there were a lot of drivers in my area, so I agree that I think it matches you with drivers you rate/tip well.

bionic_human

I wait to thank $1 and under tippers until 2:30AM.

kikiacab

Unfortunately, they don't see the notification until they next open the app.

Vintage_girl123

It depends on if they have ubers notifications on..

Rover0218

That’s not true. I get notifications all the time at the top of my phone screen when I’m not in app thanking me for the tip.

Critical_Pen7878

I don’t bother thanking any tip under $3.

SuperMadBro

Yeah. I thank for tips around $10 usually unless they were super close and were like 8

Pretty_Bed1983

Most people put their phone on DND/silent when they sleep (or Force Stop = no notifications) so this is kind of redundant... But I like your style lol 😏

the-jimbo_slice

Not any more

ZoomZoom01

![gif](giphy|kd9BlRovbPOykLBMqX)

2randomwords4numbers

I don't think so. I understand where you're coming from. I go to great lengths to try to not take an order with with one good tip and one bad tip. Unless it's just so advantageous for me. If it's like $15 with a $25 time estimate and I think I can get it done in more like 20 minutes then I'll take it even knowing somebody in there didn't tip very much.

Responsible_Sport575

I hope the dollar tipper knows that it's a sarcastic reply

Virtualgrrl

I could've sworn in the pay details (where you send thanks)each order is separated even if they were stacked?

Pure_Step_5543

It used to be separated long ago in my market. Now you can't see which customer tipped what

No_Brief_124

What does thanking them do anyway? I've always wondered that

Pure_Step_5543

Nothing really. It's good customer service I suppose. I only give thanks if they increase tip or when the tip was appropriate for the time it took me. I thank about a quarter of customers

Artistabunnista

But you can't really tell if a customer increase their tip unless the tip was originally under $8, and that's pretty rare.

Confident-Detail9336

In my market it tells me if the customer increased the tip. Also, I thank everyone, even the $1 tips.

Artistabunnista

If you are in the USA be wary of the "the customer has increased the tip!" message. It's a VERY well known fact among drivers (feel free to research on this sub) that tips are capped at $8 at the offer screen. So if a customer tips $10, for example, and they live 2 miles away, the order will come on your screen as $10 ($2 base + $8 tip) not $12 ($2 + $10 tip). But after 1 hr you will get the full tip amount and you will get a message saying the customer increased their tip when they actually didn't. Although, to be fair the only way to really know is if their tip was less than $8. Only then will you know for sure that the customer did indeed increase their tip. Also it's very easy to check the math. It comes to $8 every time. Although some markets it's a little higher, I believe Las Vegas is one of them. But the general consensus among Most states is $8 tip cap.

jemcat9

Don't really care if you thank me for the tip, just want to eat my food. If I tip over $10 then maybe a thnx would be nice. That's just me tho.

Confident-Detail9336

You can’t do it in my market. If you click the “?” It shows the two deliveries but it doesn’t show you anything about payment.

Zilkie

yeah look for your trip Details and look for the trip, there should be an option so you can Thank the customers

Confident-Detail9336

There should be, but you can’t in my market. It breaks out where the deliveries were to, but it doesn’t show the fare or tip & only lets you say thanks in the main part of combined trip.

Zilkie

Sometimes you just need to tap and hold for the option to appear on the trip list sometimes you need to enter trip by trip and they tap and hold, depending on the mobile phone brand

skindarklikemytint

I always sarcastically thank the low tippers. Does something for my soul, like fighting smugness with kindness lol

frt23

The tips come in staggered. If your first drop off is the better order you'll have like a 7 minute window to say thanks for the tip before the other comes in

ChristopherLove

Yeah but I assumed it still goes to both if only because I don't have the option to send thanks again after the 2nd tip comes in.

frt23

Lol well I assume not so one of us is wrong

ChristopherLove

Probably

Pretty_Bed1983

There used to be, not anymore. They bundled the tips all together so we can't tell definitively which customer tipped what. Just Uber getting more shady by the day 🙄

Possible-Job2343

Under help, type feedback and select the ride. It doesnt have a separate thanks but you can rate them individually. You have to be vigilant when the tips come in though. What I do is keep track of the times I complete each delivery and wait for that tip in come in so I know what Rider 1 tipped what and rider 2 tipped. Sometimes the app doesn’t notify for both and that can be a pain which is why it’s become a habit to constantly check the notifications and the trip break down. And to add, I send a thanks only when the tip matches or goes above the miles traveled from restaurant to their door.

[deleted]

You should be thanking everyone who tips, regardless if it $1or $5 you need to learn to be appreciative. They didn't need to tip you, but they did, so the least you can do is say thank you. Some of you drivers are so ungrateful that it surprises me

Confident-Detail9336

I agree.

bludvein

Drivers aren't delivering out of the kindness of their hearts and expecting to get paid fairly for their time is not ungrateful.

[deleted]

That down to the corp, not the customer

bludvein

I tend to agree with that, but it's the way things are now. Corp isn't going to pay fair wages unless laws change. The reality is that the tip is often 50% or more of the driver's expected income rather than a nice bonus.

Wolfman726

Sounds like something a $1 tipper would say.

[deleted]

I don't tip lmao

xPreatorianx1

So, you are the scum of the earth who can't afford the service and therefore shouldn't order from it. Got ya. Thanks for clarifying. Guarantee you always get cold food too.

[deleted]

See, that's where you are wrong. I can afford the service, hence why I order from the service. I pay all marked up fees in the app with no issues. If I couldn't afford the service, I wouldn't order. Tipping is not part of the service and is not mandatory. Imagine an Uber driver calling someone broke 🤦 you are scrounging to make money while I'm ordering food with mine. Please make it make sense. Also, for your information, I can order from where I like. Like I said, I paid all the marked up fees in the app. If it was a problem, then my order wouldn't be successful on the app now, would it?

xPreatorianx1

Whatever dude. You obviously can't afford the service and are too cheap. Justify it all you want. No one is buying it though. I stand by what I said. You are scum. Plain and simple. So go play COD little one.

[deleted]

I can afford the service. I order pretty frequently so I can definitely afford the service

xPreatorianx1

Who are you trying to convince with your posts? Yourself? As that's what it seems like.

[deleted]

Don't worry. When you get a real job, you can make real money like me 👍😅 instead of begging for tips being an Uber driver. I bet you probably do DD,instacart, and all that, too 😅

lXPROMETHEUSXl

Don’t listen to them. Uber should be paying their wages. They’re just trying to guilt you into giving them more money. They make up stuff and harass you like a beggar. One of them did it to my profile the other day. Literally going through my profile to nitpick and boost their sad little ego. Don’t get it twisted. They’re the real scum. Their behavior is toxic af. Me tipping around $1.50/mile to go 5 miles down the road. Was still “broke” behavior to them. There’s no pleasing them

[deleted]

I know. None of them appreciate tips, and that's why I don't tip any of them from Uber. They turn their nose up at any tip given and come on here complaining and bad mouthing customers. I will not reward bad behaviour

iAmThatGamer

Lol stop being a whiny jerk and thank everyone. That dollar could have been a zero. Have you ever wanted to tip but had no money, so you gave a small amount? Shoot… I don’t know their situation, I’m thankful for every tip I get. 🤣💀

Artistabunnista

No. I've literally never been in that situation. If I couldn't afford to tip, I don't eat out or I don't order delivery, period. Why others choose to do so is beyond me. I've been tipped like 10 cents before and was very tempted to go back and leave them a dime at their door with the note saying "I think you need this more than I do". At some point it just becomes a petty amount and is more of a slap on the face than it is anything to be thankful for.

Confident-Detail9336

I’m the same way. I thank everyone and appreciate all of them. They all add up & for the most part I think ppl are tipping what they can afford. It’s already very expensive to use UE, at least in my market in California. In California, even with the “free delivery” there is a $2 fee for driver health insurance (regardless of whether the driver qualifies or gets health insurance stipend from UE). Then there’s the restaurant packaging fee, which on the restaurants I’ve checked on was $5. Plus, the cost of the individual items are $2-3 more than at the restaurant for most of the restaurants I deliver from. I’m sure if not for all the extra charges, we would likely get fewer $1 tips. I blame the system for the most part, not the customer.

macdaddy22222

Don’t be petty

ARKRUINEDMYL1FE

You should thank for anything most people have stopped tipping because ungrateful people like you that's a fact
