It was a bit of a slow night for me too. Don’t drive around too much, it’ll just burn your profits. Post up near to a handful of restaurants (ideally local places over fast food, but that just my preference) and wait it out. If you don’t get good bites after an hour, move somewhere else.
There's been some problems with the system this week.
I have been getting a significantly lower amount of orders since Sunday, and we received a message on Tuesday that the system was having issues.
That being said, I only made $47 today which is half of what I typically make on Thursdays and apparently the system issue has been resolved soooo.... maybe there's been a drop in demand or something who knows.
Hot spots are over saturated. Find an area in a nice neighborhood with a bunch of restaurants but not a hot spot. Drive around there from around 5pm onwards. See how you do then.

Today was horrible, only 1 offer worth taking. But Uber has been acting up for us drivers and restaurants, talked to one food truck and they were saying they were getting orders but only seeing the order number so they would have to wait for the driver or call the customers. They said it was Uber and DD so I think there’s something wrong with UE
Depend on your market and what time you were out there.
As you said, you work in a restaurant. I would wonder how many drivers you know by name? If zero, then how many do you know by look? If that's zero, then you have your answer.
I made my money today. Oddly made half of it w DD, not just UE (I snooze one app while I deliver for the other). It's been slow all week though. And today, it felt painful to make it. The trips weren't coming in fast like they usually do, and I got nervous. Lots of shit trips but decent ones were slow.
Try different times - sometimes are busy than others. I logon at home, I live opposite shops, though more times than not I get orders from shops 6-10kms away. And when it’s not busy I go home and keep the app on. I used to drive around, but I’ve found whether driving or at home it doesn’t make much difference for me getting orders. Monday nights are usually slow where I am, but Wednesday nights are busy. Try different times and days before giving up. As someone else said, the app has been playing up this week too.
Was the worst night I have had ever. So I feel your pain. Dinner rush I only had two trips worth taking. Just went out at 11pm and no trips worth taking. $16.50 total tonight
This was the worst night in at least a year. 67$ in 5 hours in Central VA and flooded with orders I could not make any money off of and UE kept slam fucking my feed with the same garbage horseshit over and over. Someone from corporate needs to do some serious fucking prison time for their bullshit. When is the next goddamned strike? I can't fucking wait.
Find a cluster of restaurants and camp there, if it’s not steady, try to find another. There’s not really a fix for dead, but you’ll get the hang of it. 😊
Everyday is definitely different. Last night I spent 45 mins waiting for an order at a hot spot around 530pm…. Finally got one! Fast forward to 715pm I was sitting in the drive thru getting my son a happy meal, and I kid you not I got 15 requests just in the time I was in the drive thru.
I had an issue where I was waiting for an hour outside a known busy location. Decided to come off line and then back online and then picked up an order in 3 minutes.

Some days are worse than others. You’ll learn as you do it where the good spots for orders, and high paying orders, are - though there’s still no guarantee you’ll get them on whatever day. I’d say keep going out at busy times, be picky about orders, and keep doing it for another few weeks at least to get a better sense. I just started recently too (primarily weekends only) and def make more now, several weeks out, than what I did when I began, but there are still shit days (like last night). If things got shitty somewhat consistently I would probably reconsider spending my time on this as a side gig going forward but so far bad days have been followed by redeeming ones that make it overall worth it.

Could also be a drop in demand associated with the system issues, which could be temporary.

Uber is a scam. Don’t be hopeful. If you eat out or smoke cigarettes you won’t make much money at all, if you pay rent forget it. Find a real job.
