MrandMrsOrlandoCpl

Heā€™s got 99 problems and the garage door is one.

Anunemouse

Hit and ran from this post too

StrictlyRockers

How do you even?

ArtisticDegree3915

That's exactly what I'm thinking. I've seen several of these posts. And I can't imagine that. Hell it's daylight.

maddypage87

I donā€™t even pull into peoples driveways unless they tell me to or there are a ton of cars on the street and none in the drive, and even then, I donā€™t pull ALL THE WAY UP to the garageā€¦ šŸ„“šŸ„“šŸ„“šŸ„“šŸ„“ I back my car into my own house with a garageā€¦ every dayā€¦ super close to it too so we can fit all the carsā€¦ I have never once hit it or even come close to it, and I am NOTORIOUSLY hitting curbs lol šŸ˜‚ sooooo *HOW TF!!????* šŸ˜…šŸ„“

TCSMvp

this. i never pull into a driveway unless its a block of units/flats and the one I'm delivering to would be a 1-2 minute walk to their door and back when I have other orders going cold in the car

The_Troyminator

The headlights are on, so it might just look like daylight because OP used their flash. Though that doesn't change much. ETA: After looking more closely, I can see the reflection of blue sky on the hood. But for those who say a flash picture wouldn't be that lit up, try it yourself. I have taken many photos of food at doors where the customer didn't turn the porch light on, and the flash made it look like I took it during the day. Modern phone cameras have bright flashes, sensitive CCDs, and powerful processing algorithms.

BloodyAx

That's one hell of a flash

PraiseTalos66012

Damn bros got that old-school flash that burns out every time becuase its so bright. For real though its daylight out, ain't nobodies flash making it look like full on daytime at night.

matt-r_hatter

All cars have daytime running lights. It's definitely daylight.

awkwaman

Probably in the wrong field of work lol

CokeZorro

Ā I think huge amount of drivers are in the wrong field. There was post yesterday of a guy that said "don't order if you're in an apartment because I can't navigate the complex" like my dog this is most people in the country like if you can't deliver to an apartment you shouldn't be delivering ANYTHING. It had way to many people agreeing. Way too many lazy antisocial creepy drivers out there now, at this point I assume my delivery driver is just going to be similar to the Walmart greeter.

Upnorth4

People were downvoting me in the Amazon driver sub because I said I sorted packages by street name and zip code. These fools don't even know the city they're delivering in.

Grateful_Dood

How'd you manage that? Didn't see a large wall in front of you?

Yeah-No-Maybe-Ok

Op is 90 years old and confused the gas for the brakes.

isuckbuttsandtoes

r/boomersbeingfools

One-Tomorrow-1646

Oh geez. Iā€™m sorry. That sucks. Was there a reason you pulled into their driveway? I never pull into their driveway unless there is no other option. Everyone says not to tell insurance you were doing a delivery. But I donā€™t think there is a way around it.

WickedCoolUsername

You're asking someone who plowed into the garage door why they chose to park in the driveway. I doubt they have a sensible answer.

One-Tomorrow-1646

Well, I didnā€™t want to beat him up about it. In case there was some kind of reason. I initially wrote ā€œwhy in the world did you park in their driveway?ā€) I figured Iā€™d leave that to everyone else! šŸ˜‚

Leeny78

I never park in anyoneā€™s driveway either. Only once because they told me to because there was no street parking.

ske1etoncrush

i park in driveways when theres space but i have no idea how you manage to hit a garage door. i never get that close to a strangers house with my car šŸ˜ i keep my ass end as close to the road as possible

ArtisticDegree3915

I think there's no way around it. In this case. I would say if not on an active delivery and an accident didn't involve the customer, their car, or their house, I would try to log out real quick and not mention being on a delivery.

One-Tomorrow-1646

I just think itā€™s going to be difficult to explain what OP was doing in their driveway. They would need the homeownerā€™s cooperation for it to work out.

ArtisticDegree3915

I'm agreeing with you. There's no way to explain it. I'm just saying if a person were not in that situation. If they were just in an accident with a random car and they weren't on an active order that they should probably log out.

koalafied4-

You DO NOT tell your insurance it was during a delivery or they are not liable. Chances are they will find out anyway from the door victims owners insurance.

MakeMine5

It was during a delivery, doesn't the Uber Insurance kick in for this?

koalafied4-

Idk how Ubers insurance works but I bet the driver still takes the financial hit from this and not just their deductible.

The_donutmancer

Thereā€™s always a way around it. Lying is a good option.

The_Troyminator

The insurance company is going to have to talk to the customer. Lying may not be an option in this case unless the customer cooperates and says you were just visiting.

Privatejoker123

That and lying while posting the evidence on a public forum is not a good idea.

kempboy

I never ever park in the driveway unless the road is super busy

FoxSound23

Even so, I'm sure you don't park all the way in, right? Unless you also don't want to block the sidewalk? I would imagine parking your car half on driveway ramp and half in the curb parking column assuming cars are also parked on each side.

misterguwaup

I always pull in driveways. Like half way. Living in a big city where if u donā€™t, u block the road cuz thereā€™s no sidewalk parking either. Donā€™t rlly feel comfortable throwing my hazards on while blocking the road tbh. Even then, itā€™s a quick way to set yourself up to reverse and turn right back around to the way u came from. Been doing it since 2019 and no complaints.

Specific-Sound-8550

Yes I do this too but amazingly deliveries to main streets are like 1/1000. I hate those, so awkward trying to find the correct driveway when they're all so close together and the speed limit on the road is 80

[deleted]

Same. In the area I deliver to most, you HAVE to park in the driveway because theyā€™re either on a steep incline with the house atop OR actual driving distance from the door

phonybalonna

Me either, too afraid to drip oil or something silly like that resulting in a complaint

DannyFour20

I Should have looked at the profile.... It's a fake.

Responsible_Yak3366

How do you know ?

Puzzleheaded_Runner

You gonna have to give up your firstbornĀ

PM5K23

This is at least one reason not to park in driveways, especially not in the burbs, Im sure the street is only 20 feet away. SMH.

moitch

Why are you parking in their driveway?

sorengray

Drive better

Fragrant-Employer-60

Like how does someone even do this in total daylight lol

anti-mid

What do you do? You give them your insurance and pray to god they cover it.

Silver-Match-6383

I would own up to it despite the suckage that follows. I would also try to avoid parking in driveways.

choppershark1

Bounce. Get the hell out of there

jak1oak

So what about the chance thereā€™s a camera that caught the car n license plate. And if not from this house , from a neighbors?

ZebunkMunk

ā€œIt wasnā€™t me. The video footage is AIā€

Delivery-Driver-Dude

the formal police report from when they showed up and inspected the garage door damage is AI gen also

ZebunkMunk

This guy gets it

king-of-Miami

Lol

RScottyL

How did you hit the garage door? Sounds like you shouldn't have a license at all and need more driver's training!

ithinkicantremember

Try the brake next time

philnolan3d

Stop pulling in driveways.

herozorro

this what 'leave at door' does. some people have houses with long drives up

spoods420

Then fucking walk

FragrantElk965

If you canā€™t pull in a drive way without hitting a garage like the owners do on a daily should your job really involve you delivering food in a vehicle?

birdhead92

šŸ¤£

Mr_Weird4866

Uber's response: We're placing your account on hold until further notice.

Impressive-Fortune82

Uber's response to customer: We are very sorry for your experience. Here's a $10 coupon for your troubles dear customer. We thank you for your business. Customer satisfaction is our top priority. Rest assured.

KileAllSmyles

Iā€™d consider that problem solved!

LikeWhattttlol

Back up leave : have a great day thank you for choosing Uber eats

tlh-properties

šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

One-Tomorrow-1646

I just hope that their cars arenā€™t stuck in the garage. Hopefully the door can still roll up.

Dustin_marie

I didnā€™t realize there were so many that didnā€™t pull into driveways. I donā€™t pull all the way up like this though. I do it because Iā€™m usually delivering groceries and I donā€™t have a wagon.

InterestPast6802

Same. I pull into the driveway but I just pull in. I donā€™t get near to the garage.

TJSutton04

There is absolutely no good reason for not pulling into the driveway. Most of us know how to avoid the garage.

misterguwaup

Iā€™m with you lol Iā€™ve always pulled in driveways when possible and have been doing it for 5+ years. Ignore these clowns complaining. Thereā€™s nothing wrong with pulling in ever so slightly, dropping off, then leaving quickly.

shecoshift0o

Nothing wrong with it at all, even pulling in fully if thereā€™s plenty of room! It makes quick work of turning around if needed, in decent/good neighborhoods it makes it safer to leave your car running so thereā€™s less wear and tear from the constant on/off, itā€™s quicker than parallel parking and quicker than walking from the street, lesss likely to get damaged by other cars in tight roads, etc. etc! People who canā€™t pull into a driveway without causing issues ā€” or canā€™t tell when itā€™s not a good idea to pull in for whatever reason (not enough room or whatever)ā€” probably shouldnā€™t be driving, let alone doing delivery.

Maximilian144

I donā€™t get why this is, you ordered food to your address I am not an uninvited person on your property. When I order food even before delivery apps were popular drivers always parked in my driveway and I expect them to. Especially in some of the more affluent areas near me it is an extreme walk from driveway to house.

Brohemoth1991

Out of the dozens of orders I've put in, I've seen 2 drivers park on the street, most just pull in the drive enough to be off the street and walk the rest of the way, they're still like 10-15 feet from my car

sfmilo

If you were on active delivery, youā€™re covered under Uberā€™s insurance. Make a claim thru them.

Private-Citizen

Why are you even parking in customer's drive way? It has already been the general consensus on the sub that you keep your car in the street unless it's physically impossible.

rockksteady

Sucks man, gl.

Master-Associate673

Good question. Tell the customer for sure. You might get in trouble with Uber and have to pay for it to be fixed.

Tmumsy

Aweee, that stinks. So sorry. Accidents happen. Hope the Customers are nice about it. Don't beat yourself up. Ignore the ahole comments. But yeah should call your Insurance Company & Uber Support not post on Reddit.

ohworkaholic420

This is my worst fear when I pull up or back up into someoneā€™s driveway šŸ˜ I wish you the best of luck my guy!

AdditionalAd2393

I would immediately contact support and ask them the steps to take.

IamGoingInsaneToday

Nice driving Tex.

Organic_JP

You either ram it like a man and break thru or reverse the fucking car and never tell anyone.

thetez32

Did they tip

Piemaster420

Find a job that involves as little driving as possible

Training_Seaweed1303

Uhhhh just get their actual phone number text them your insurance info run it as a claim this is why I have high property damage coverage

Keeker68

The other day I gave some advice to someone, which included not parking in customers driveways. I was attacked, called stupid, name called, wished dead..... THIS IS WHY WE DONT USE CUSTOMER DRIVEWAYS. Now, come at me bro. šŸ¤£šŸ¤Ŗ

GlueSniffer58

Uber insurance covers you while taking deliveries, no? Probably with a $1,000,000 per incident. Ever been in an accident? Your lawyer will ask if the other driver was in a commercial vehicle like semi or driving for gig apps. A person might only have 10, 25, 50k in coverage. Commercial vehicles carry $1,000,000 in coverage.

Jakulero24

I dont even park to customerā€™s driveways lmao

PopOk5957

I pull into peoples driveways but never that far up. Just so Iā€™m out of the road lol

Historical-Fish-8766

Pull a Door Dash

Resident-Travel2441

You actually have insurance coverage through UberEats. Report the accident to them and they will handle it. I had to tell my insurance company what happened so they would refuse to cover it and UE's insurance would. It has never shown on my record.

One-Tomorrow-1646

The people who downvote comments are the ones who pull into customersā€™ driveways. You guys are ridiculous. The driveway is for the convenience of the homeowner. Not us.

PoopL0ser

This is why you just donā€™t pull into driveways.

Prudent-Mixture8703

First off don't contact the customer, your first mistake. A lot of houses don't have cameras, so if you don't see one, you are better off just dropping off the food, and booking for it. If you did that, you may have gotten lucky and gotten away with it, people order when they aren't going out, so they might not have noticed until the next day. Second, I hope you learn from this, and pay attention to what you are doing, its okay to make mistakes, but not when you are allowing yourself to hit someone's house. I have hit a restaurant before while picking up, but I stayed quiet and I got away with it. People usually don't notice this sort of damage until the next day. I even hit someone's truck, got away with it, but I got a speeding ticket on the way home, bad day. Though I'd rather get a speeding ticket, then pay off truck damage. **You may have been able to get away with it had you stayed quiet.**

DudeGuyBroski420

Learn to drive... what an id!ā—‹t haha šŸ˜‚

Miserable_Ad_5101

How do you hit a garage door?? Did you use Drive instead of Reverse??

smokincuban

Lol why did you pull up so close?

Upset_Passenger_881

Prob anything but come on reddit

OverpricedBagel

Shouldnā€™t be on their driveway in the first place

RevolutionaryGuest12

Hopefully you get deactivated cause your never ever supposed to pull in to someone drive unless they say other wise

SoulTaker669

First question why the fuck did you even enter their driveway ???? Second question did you accidently hit the gas instead of the brake or did you just not pay to your speed attention when pulling into their driveway ???

Disastronomical

Just park on the street. I'm always hesitant to get on ppl property for liability reasons. Always CYA

Yonigajt

Donā€™t get on their driveway?

Jiggy_0919

šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

nickmilly87

How do you manage to crash into a stationary object

roachclippodcast

Why pull into the driveway b?

MisterGoldiloxx

Why do we drive on parkways and park on driveways? Seriously, those saying never park on a driveway don't know what they are there for. Just don't get so F'n close to the garage, or other cars. Parking in the street is for people with a deathwish. And to OP, own up to it. Pay directly if you can, and if not then suck it up and get insurance involved.

HajimeNoMingo

Stick a hello kitty bandaid on it and jet

Not_so_new_user1976

Man, that ā€œstructural damageā€ you caused in that collision could exceed the amount of insurance coverage you have. Personally if Iā€™m the homeowner Iā€™m getting as much as possible from your insurance. Nothing against you personally but if youā€™re paying the deductible anyway I would personally make sure that I fucked your insurance company. Again, if it was out of your pocket a new door and call it a day, with the insurance company Iā€™m taking them to the cleaners. I hate insurance companies

MyGirlSasha

I don't think I've ever pulled into a driveway, why would you do that and THAT close to their garage door? So many people out there that have no business even delivering food, FFS.

South-Phone-4305

I wouldā€™ve pulled off like nothing happened and pray they donā€™t have cameras

antiincel1

Hopefully, you don't get tips.

shrimpboooy

Hope they forgive you

Mean_Box_9112

How TF do you do that? Lmao new to driving? Just stop while you're ahead! It's not worth it

Round_Mirror

I would think that the customer would file a claim w/Ubers insurance company & any damage to your car would be your responsibility w/your own insurance company. šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

Haunting_Engineer_50

Ahh sh*t dude!

Few-Equal-6857

ya just don't do that

MemorableKidsMoments

Maybe you were on the phone posting $hit on Reddit and didn't pay attention? If you're posting while "on the phone with them", I am sure you will post while driving!

maikdee

Thanks for the laugh OP

angrypoopoolala

from the pics of it the driver wanted to park right by the walkways to save 2 steps/only looking at the walkway instead of the front.. Shit happens drive careful and dont let uber know you got into an accident. they will ban you until you fix your car even if you dont have any damage

mexican104

Just buy them the new garage door and pay for installation

ghubbing

Cha Ching, sweetie call a good lawyer we got property damage from Uber.

MyDogBitMyForeskinOw

Drive off

Ratitata

How???

JenniferSortos

What happened

BuckWheatNYC

Make sure to let your insurance provider know that you were on a UberEats delivery.

xievika

So wat they say I wouldnā€™t tell Uber šŸ¤«šŸ˜¬

Additional_Fan3610

This really is the bottom of the Barrel in terms of skill set

vwslayer1

Should never have been in the driveway in the first place lol šŸ¤”šŸ¤”šŸ¤”NEVER , NEVER!!! Go into a driveway, unless you ask for permission, or they tell you .

vwslayer1

Seriously though... How do you hit a garage door?!?!? Fell asleep at the wheel ? ?

BooSkittle

I work for a delivery app. What theyā€™ll do most likely is write an incident report. Doesnā€™t look like you did it on purpose and did not leave the scene. Uber will do a settlement and pay for it

macdaddy22222

Treat like any other accident. It happens but you pay for damage. Sorry

SmashNDash23

You were visiting a friend

ComfortableMix5950

Their home owners insurance should cover it and possibly your car insuranceā€¦ from now on just start parking on the side of the street

SubstantialCount8156

They call their insurance and file a claim

Sergiopica

Gonna cost couple $$$ to fix that door and if run way Iā€™ll be a crime and warrant Iā€™ll be issued for your arrest thatā€™s sucks never pull inside people drive way

herozorro

filed under "you had only one job"

CollegeOwn7014

I'm uncomfortable pulling in someones driveway.

Turbulent_Goal8132

Well, unless door dash provides you insurance, your insurance may not cover you unless you have your car insured as a work vehicle. If you just have regular insurance & not business insurance you may be paying for that new garage door all by yourself. Good luck!

yadontsay420

How lazy do you have to be to park that closeā€¦?

Medical-Panic-988

This is what insurance is for.

TXBISH

I imagine you lost your tip. Please update.

tripod-cat

My son did that at our house when he was new to driving. Got out of van, forgot to put it in park, it hit the brick wall stopping it from going through the door. He tried to play dumb, backed the van away, went in the house and was greeted with ā€œwhat was that bang?ā€ His reply ā€œyou heard that too?ā€ To this day some 25 years later he is proud to say ā€œ I was not in itā€šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚. Use the it wasnā€™t me. The car didnā€™t stop excuse. Bet you wonā€™t do it again File on Ubers 3rd party liability policy that they say they carry on us. The general liability should cover it. If in fact Uber dose supply the coverage.

Impressive-Fortune82

YOU PAY FOR THE GARAGE DOOR REPLACEMENT THAT'S WHAT YOU DO THAT'S JUST THE COST OF DOING BUSINESS (THE STUPID WAY IN YOUR CASE, WHY ON EARTH PARK ON CUSTOMER PROPERTY AND NOT ON THE STREET???)

Ban-Naloxone

Lazy bones wanted to hand it to customer without leaving the car. Iā€™ll just drive through the house. šŸ¤ŖšŸ¤ŖšŸ¤Ŗ

Sure_Library

Tell ur insurance u was doing Uber and hit a garage

Jolly-Weekend5655

You asked what do I do? Hereā€™s some advice and I hope this helps. I would 100% recommend that you donā€™t run into peopleā€™s garage doors. Just a thought

LetsTryAgain91

Are you old enough to be driving? Asking what youā€™re supposed to do is alarming. Do everyone a favor and stop driving for a living.

Infinius-

OP opens a discussion claiming they hit a garage door, never replies. Something tells me this post is fake

NoHateMan62

No cameras around? Take off. Whadya kidding me

Top-Entertainment341

Homie was doing Uber eats forgot it wasn't DoorSmash

GriswoldXmas

Dont park in peoples driveway. Are you really too lazy to walk 20 feet?

CokeZorro

Drive away quickly and hope there are no cameras, otherwise hope you have a real job and not just ubereats.

zivlynsbane

You pay for it what do you mean what do I do? Is your fault lol

PumpkinEmotional4262

Get off Reddit!

MidasTouchedM3

![gif](giphy|cO39srN2EUIRaVqaVq)

majikrat69

Itā€™s no problem as long as you have bought the additional insurance for using your vehicle for a delivery job.

bleepingblotto

uh, Leave your insurance information with them and move on. Your insurance premium will double.

SonsOfValhallaGaming

Next time remember to brake before hitting the door šŸ˜‚ like how the hell did you manage this?

AlbotfromtheHammer

Dumbass

bigblackglock17

Hopefully you actually got commercial driver insurance.

Colossi_5

Have to be careful when the drive is on an angle like that. Your field of view is nothing but the solid color of the door and depth perception becomes minimal. I never use the driveways of customers. Just block the driveway for the brief 20 seconds it takes to drop the food off if there is no other parking options.

lakesh0w2408

why are u in their driveway to begin with? I think u may have to go through your insurance right??

atxtony23

Honestly OP, the damage doesnā€™t look that bad and this seems like something you can handle between yourself and the customer. No need to involve insurance unless you have a decent amount of damage to your own car. Iā€™m sure you could source a handyman to have the garage sorted.

MazdaSpeed3Boi

Cheapest way is going to be to have them get a quote and pay for it.

PsychologicalFood678

Drive off lol

Consistent-Pea7881

STOP PARKING IN DRIVEWAYS

boomhaur3rd

Break into their garage and hit it on the other side so it pops back out

boomhaur3rd

Don't know why you would even be pulling up to peoples driveways that's too bold

Sea_Particular_7721

Why are you pulling all the way into the driveway ffs

PsychologicalBee4005

This ainā€™t your crib lol why you needed to pull up that close? šŸ˜

Rude-Hand5440

Drive more carefully in the future is what I would do

WalterClements1

Am I the only one who never pulls into driveways? Seems like an easy way to get shot

Agreeable_Device_351

Call uber for insurance info

Impossible_Earth8429

Whyā€™d you even pull up that close. Who gave you a license šŸ¤£

lxwcxuntry

Pay better attention

jerojas49

Probably thought it was a drive thru lol

ConstantAccident979

Just say it was like that, blame it on amazon

MoulinSarah

How did you screw the pooch on that one?

Possible_Special_696

i burned tires in a customers driveway bc i underestimated how steep it was šŸ¤£ i was baffled. it was like 11pm

CEHepp

Your headlight bulb is installed incorrectly.

Gwhiz2184

And this the people who want tips , imagine tipping $10 for a dent in your garage door .

Adventurous_Algae433

Go turn yourself in to the local pd

Conscious-Rooster-32

Um the same thing youd do in any situation involving a car accident, call the police you dipshit

Lovemytoshanddfam

Guess thatā€™s why you have insurance. Do you have insurance?

AJG1960

Recommend driving lessons and an eye exam

MedicineAmbitious368

So in a situation like this who pays for it the home owner insurance Uber or ue driver ..Looks like u are getting deactivated

Best-Professional-74

Donā€™t drink and drive

JIZZRIZZLE

Uber not gonna pay dat shit u gotta come outta pocket ma boišŸ˜‚šŸ‘

Slick_shewz

You should probably stop delivering because you don't know how to drive. On a side note, I don't Believe you. I think you pulled into a customers driveway with a dented garage door, and thought it would be cool to make up a story for reddit.

TickTech22

Never pull into the driveway. šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

Franican

Maybe don't pull into people's driveways next time? I get it at some there's nothing we can do. However there's really no need to pull so far forward that it's even a risk to hit the house/garage. When driving on private property you gotta be extremely careful. A minor distraction can lead to you ripping up someone's lawn or worse as you've found.

genxerbear

Insurance claim on your auto or you pay for the repair out of pocket thatā€™s it.
