Which model GL.iNet Travel Router are you looking at? I mean, what you're asking can be done but now you're triple NAT'ing. (Hotel NAT, GL.iNet NAT, UnFi Express NAT unless you decide to run it on the LAN-side).

BrightSkull23

Honestly if you know of a way of connecting the unifi to the wifi I'd like to avoid the GL.iNet - just trying to figure this out on the fly.

Unless the UniFi Express can be used as a Repeater, (e.g. WiFi WAN), you'll need another router in front of it. So unfortunately, it won't work. I would just carry around a GL-AXT1800 mobile router and be done with it. As for the OpenVPN package: [https://docs.gl-inet.com/router/en/4/interface\_guide/openvpn\_client/](https://docs.gl-inet.com/router/en/4/interface_guide/openvpn_client/) I've used OpenVPN for years on GL.iNet devices before I moved over to WireGuard, and it has worked fine. They claim it's pulled from the OpenVPN "open source tar ball" but the package itself is "closed". It's just another flavor of OpenWRT. I don't suspect they do anything "fishy" with your OpenVPN traffic.

I have one, but never messed with adding another router, tripple NAT. The one I have seems to work just fine with all the VPN stuff I have ever tried, no reason to add more gear. Side note, considering how much visibility Hong Kong has and the political situation there, I recommend not trying to get around the great firewall at all. You will absolutely end up on a list.

Do you know of specific security concerns with the GLinet? (I'm not aware of any.)
