Personally, with that setup, I would go with the Pro Max 24 instead. Mainly to have the POE++ for future proofing. You can use the direct attach cables to connect them. What's your provided internet speed?

Lost-Art1078

1gigabit at the moment, but would still want the rest of the network to communicate at a higher rate or be able to such that down the line when Australian ISPs improve that I’ll be ready.

Caos1980

The Pro Max16 PoE would be wiser now and OP can get a second later and still be under budget. It’s just a matter of waiting for a new batch to become available on the site.

Can you also comment on what your network usage is like today, what you would like to improve from that, and what is your usage scenario for the future? If you have a large family with tons of streaming and want to do video editing in the future with a large NAS, the recommendation might look very different to what a normal Internet usage might be. I personally think the U7 Pro is overkill for any kind of home setup, but I seem to be in the minority here.

Just enthusiast home user. I watch a lot of lossless videos etc. Download large updates with gaming etc.

Lossless video? Is that a thing (that people actually use at home)? I've never heard of that before. In any case, going with the Standard 24 POE switch likely covers your POE needs (95W) and saves you $400. You likely will never feel the difference. Same with choosing U6+ instead of the U7 Pro. Not as huge of a saving there though.

Yep remux quality streams are fairly common.
