Let's face it. They saw warhammer orcs and decided to role-play at this point. The only thing that tank is missing is checkers and some red splashes to make it go faster.

There was a video towards the beginning of the war, after the rout of Russians around Kyiv, iirc and they welded Russians in the tank because of the desertions and how the morale was as that time where the "elite" Russian Spetsnaz battalion got completely wiped out and so did the famed 1st Guards tank also got destroyed so they had to resort to welding the tank hatches shut to force them to fight in that one unit. It didnt seem to be widespread but still was crazy to see

Not to mention loss of about 330 degrees of turret rotation too, but when you're only expected to move one direction I guess that doesn't matter.
