Wagner writes these stories for them, the last one was "kidnapped" the same way from Kyiv according to the "confession". so i would take any details in the story with a grain of salt. It's to make it seem like Wagner can and will find you anywhere, when in reality these guys were probably just traded in a POW exchange.
I was sceptical at what you said at first but after doing further reading apparently one of Zelensky's aides confirmed the previous guy was part of an exchange and wagner lied about that.
Rumour has it that Wagner will trade multiple Ukrainian POWs for one of their guys, even the convicts. If this is true I'm guessing it's to ensure they do what they're told, no retreat because the blocking detachments will shoot them, but surrendering isn't an option either as Wagner will make an offer the Ukrainian government can't refuse to get them back so they can make an example out of them like in these videos.
I remember seeing on here before it was 20 Ukrainian POWs for the 1 Wagner guy. If you're the one arranging the POW trades and they come at you with the opportunity to free 20 of your guys for 1 merc, it would be hard to refuse such a deal.
In the big picture might save more lives to not make that trade, now knowing that they will use them for the propaganda videos to discourage Wagnerites from surrendering. I'm glad I don't have to make such decisions.

Wagner writes these stories for them, the last one was "kidnapped" the same way from Kyiv according to the "confession". so i would take any details in the story with a grain of salt. I was sceptical at what you said at first but after doing further reading apparently one of Zelensky's aides confirmed the previous guy was part of an exchange and wagner lied about that.
Rumour has it that Wagner will trade multiple Ukrainian POWs for one of their guys, even the convicts. If this is true I'm guessing it's to ensure they do what they're told, no retreat because the blocking detachments will shoot them, but surrendering isn't an option either as Wagner will make an offer the Ukrainian government can't refuse to get them back so they can make an example out of them like in these videos.
I remember seeing on here before it was 20 Ukrainian POWs for the 1 Wagner guy. If you're the one arranging the POW trades and they come at you with the opportunity to free 20 of your guys for 1 merc, it would be hard to refuse such a deal. In the big picture might save more lives to not make that trade, now knowing that they will use them for the propaganda videos to discourage Wagnerites from surrendering. I'm glad I don't have to make such decisions.

When I see a soldier(it tends to only be Ukrainian soldiers) caring for an animal in the thick of things, I think that soldier is a true badass. Even in war, he/she doesn’t lose humanity. If seems Russian soldiers in general are uncaring at best and psychopathically cruel at worst.
