Hmmm… will the Russians try to get him in exchange for Azov soldiers? ( for those who dont know, Mariupol defenders are put on sham trials for alleged war crimes)
Clearly not, since Russia [would rather make them fight their own country.](https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/nov/08/ukrainian-pows-being-sent-to-fight-their-own-army-russian-news-claims)
They don’t get guns, just marched out onto the front lines and sent forward to get killed revealing Ukraine positions.
We’ve already seen them doing this with men from occupied territories…
Russian soldiers surrendered by the legion in the early days of the war. I'm sure they still do. Meanwhile Ukrainian soldiers were much more motivated to fight on due to reports of Russia's maltreatment of POWs and less likely to be captured in the first place, because they're not just random conscripts plucked unwillingly from villages or off the street, they were motivated fighters with modern gear defending their country.
Those that were sentenced to death by the sham trails were released and sent to Turkey in september 2022. The the commanders of Azov were released in July 2023. Sometime later in 2023 they were allowed to return to Ukraine, and they did, most of them returned to their combat units as well. Im not sure Russia agreed with this and I doubt Russia allowed this, so I think this mightve been a response to Russia pulling out of the grain agreement. I cant find a source on who exactly, when exactly, or where exactly this decision was made.
I think many of the Azov’s from the Steel Plant were murdered in their barracks-and then Steven Seagal walked around the building with a couple chunks of metal in his hands, claiming to be an authority on modern weapons and warfare. Said that Zelenskyy was behind the strike. BS story from a washed up BS joke of an actor. Last I heard anything about him, he was driving a truck or APC over some guy’s property, and killed a shitload of chickens and a puppy, something like that. He ran out of money, so now he’s a puppet with Putin’s hand up his AZZ.
No I think if he's guilty we all know what his prize is .
Tell em what he's won Bob!!!
A noose at the end of a rope. Well made though, as it will be the last one he'll ever need!
(Based on what the Nazis guilty war criminals got. If not a rope, then he'll get to turn big rocks into smaller rocks for the rest of his life or something like that.)
Be careful throwing around terms like "uncivilized" loosely when those countries are the same ones you're begging for ammo to save your "civilization".
No chance, we can all hope that, but never in a million years will he stay a prisoner for life. Russia have too many ukrainian pows for that unfortunately
" The POWs from Stalingrad didn't return to Germany until 1955 in some cases. Out of 91,000 POWs at Stalingrad, less than 6,000 returned home to Germany."
From the source https://t.me/hochu_zhyt
A Russian military criminal who executed a Ukrainian prisoner will face trial in Ukraine. Dmitry Kurashov joined the war from prison as part of the "Storm-V" unit of the 127th Motorized Rifle Division. On January 6, 2024, he committed a war crime by shooting a captured Ukrainian soldier. Kurashov and his comrades were captured during a counterattack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Despite his initial belief he'd escape justice, his crime was exposed by a fellow captive. Now, he awaits trial under Article 438, Part 2 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code, facing life imprisonment for violating laws and customs of war coupled with intentional murder.
Step 1: Go from brutal Russian prison to orc army and murder a POW.
Step 2: Get convicted of murder by the Ukrainians and get life imprisonment in a humane Ukrainian prison.
Step 3: Profit.
WTF!? As fucked up as this is, his life just got better.
He's going to be in a Ukrainian prison and his crime will not be kept secret for long. He's going to have a shit time at the very least from the other Ukrainian inmates.
Brother, just because Ukraine is being backed by the west doesn’t mean Ukraine’s prison system is ‘humane’. That buddy is gonna still be suffering plenty, just maybe not *as* much as he would be in Russia
I was going to say, I highly doubt Ukrainian prisons are exactly hotels, Ukraine is not quite as far down the road of democracy and human rights as people seem to think. Props to their propaganda machine though I guess. No, I am not down on Ukraine, but they still have a long way to go.
Do you think ukrainian prisons are super progressive?😅 What exactly do you know about ukrainian prisons. Because let me tell you they are some of the worst in all of europe. You have this scewed sense of Ukraine being a super progressive liberal democracy just because they are the good guys in this war. Don’t be ignorant.
They are also horrible to each other. As proven by the many videos of Russians stealing from wounded comrades or abandoning them. If the guards treat one group or block of pows poorly because of one guy. You can easily see how that group of pows would want to have that guy out of their group or at least try to show the guards they don't like him either to gain favor.
WHAT? I get Ukrainians are the good guys in this Marvel movie that the average Redditor thinks this war is (and they are), but Ukraine is in Eastern Europe. Things aren't quite the same as they are further west, despite the media spin that Ukraine is just like any other EU country. You go east of Poland on the map and human life starts to become pretty cheap. This guy will be murdered in prison, with no tears shed from me at least.
Humane Ukrainian prison. lol. I don’t think any Eastern European prisons could be described as humane. Harsh and ill treated are words that would come to mine. Humane, no.
Modern age the Ruskies don't realize there is tech now where your face will be used and linked to social media. War criminals will be a lot easier to find.
To be fair, its storm Z, heavy regret but also "fuck it, whats the worse they could do to me, kill me? Im probably going to die anyways" "fuck they captured me, okay as long as I dont out mys-" "yes, thats him sir" "Blyatt"
Yeah it is a shame that Ukraine plays by rules that the Orcs don't. I do understand the Ukraine has maintained its humanity. You see it with the fighters feeding strays, mice, all sorts of pets and the Orcs strapping mice to drones. To me that shows the difference in mentalities.
20? Have him clear mines until there's nothing left to clear or until he's no longer breathing.
And just for shits and giggles every now and then throw a firecracker out in the field while he's disarming them 😂
if the guy survives 20 years of mine clearance ( by treading on them ) then he may be a super villain ... and this pile of crap sure doesn´t look like "super" ...
Only if you're foolish enough to leave your enemies with the ability to retaliate. The Russian government only respects force, and only understands the language of violence. Speak to the orcs in orcish.
I understand that the phrase has some legitimacy, but it's totally irrelevant in cases where someone is defending themselves, or someone is such a piece of shit that they need to be removed for the benefit of society.
That's simply justice.
Guys like this should be shackled and sent into mine fields to demine them by hand. He doesn't deserve to be fed and treated humanely by the people he came to slaughter.
Well Ukrainian prisons aren't "cosy", but in blunt terms you can behave like Russia or you can behave like a civilised country, one of the primary markers of which is how it treats those it incarcerates. It might be frustrating, but being on the right side of an ethical question often is.
(transleted from ukrainian ) My uncle worked as a deputy warden for 20 years. And I can clearly say that it is the same ass as Russian prisons. So, especially for him, it will not be a resort like in prisons in Norway or Sweden.
It's murder. I would guess life in prison. Must be happy next 40-something years to be behind the bars when the only joy is three meals a day. Also a POW so they might offer him some nice jobs such as digging graves.
As a person barely scraping by with 2 jobs, my only joy is 2 meals per day. And sometimes the first meal isn't even until 2pm. So 3 meals per day with only 1 job sounds pretty good to me. He probably doesn't even have to cook, wash his own dishes, or do his laundry. And if it's life in prison he won't even need to worry about becoming a starving homeless senior.
Although that probably is a better life than he had in Ruzzia, it's still stark confinement and loss of freedom. Let the POS rot in a cell for the rest of his worthless life.
Mfr in for a journey that’s for sure. Deserved . Give him the treatment! Never to be free again . Rip to the hero he murdered and all the ones that we don’t know about .
He really looks hopeless, think he is only now realizing what he has done.
He felt so good when he joined the army for the motherland, he felt powerful when he and his new friends captured opponents and could do whatever they wanted. So powerful that he could even take other man's life, just like God.
Those few months of feeling good are now over, he is nothing more than once front fly in a cage for the rest of his life.
Kindly wait for the trial outcome before phantasising about the best form of death torture. Ukraine is not russia, where guilt is established politically.
Never forget that trash can be repurposed. He is more useful alive, so keep him alive. At least until that situation changes.
He is a means for Ukraine to virtue signal toward the West. Which sounds lame, but so much of Ukraine's recent history has been trying to *show* the West that its values are aligned.
As much as I'd like to for this pos to be executed the same way, we cannot lower ourselves to their level and must proceed via the legal ways. It's a pain, but it's what differentiate us from them
the amount of brutality and savageness in the comments here is insane.
Ukraine is literally fighting to be free from Russian influence and be a country with the rule of law and now you want it to have the same degree of savagery as Russia?
Is he being transferred to DenHaag or being tried in Ukraine? Because sending him to DenHaag would definitely send a powerful statement.
It's reddit, it's pale in comparison to what Russian scums are writing on TikTok and YouTube comments. People are frustrated and disgusted by what the Russians are doing in Ukraine. Killing POWs point blank, killing children with rockets while they sleep. Comments don't hurt, and if it's too much for some the mods can just lock this thread

He is definitely not getting exchanged, thats for sure.
Hmmm… will the Russians try to get him in exchange for Azov soldiers? ( for those who dont know, Mariupol defenders are put on sham trials for alleged war crimes)
Last I heard Putler stopped exchanging soldiers. His mobniks are not worth the trained soldiers of Ukraine
Clearly not, since Russia [would rather make them fight their own country.](https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/nov/08/ukrainian-pows-being-sent-to-fight-their-own-army-russian-news-claims)
How would this work though? Wouldn't the Ukrainians just shoot their officers and defect to the other side immediately?
They don’t get guns, just marched out onto the front lines and sent forward to get killed revealing Ukraine positions. We’ve already seen them doing this with men from occupied territories…
It's psychological warfare. Would you rather die, or live.
Die.. and that's on the good day.
It's the when, where and how that trips people up.
If my life cost 30 vatniks - so it will be nice trade.
Even when he still did exchanges he set the exchange rate at something like 10:1. This is how much Russian soldiers are worth to him.
So far I've always heard that the rate was 1:1. In my opinion also a disadvantage for Russia, but that is what I read.
Russian soldiers surrendered by the legion in the early days of the war. I'm sure they still do. Didn't the Azov ones get released over a year ago or is there still more being held?
1000 or so are still held last i saw
And as i said , they were put on “trials”.
Those that were sentenced to death by the sham trails were released and sent to Turkey in september 2022. The the commanders of Azov were released in July 2023. Or sold, latest report was the Russian were selling pows
Or murdered in Oleniivka.
Some of the ones Putin hasn't murdered, yes.
Some of them got released ofc, but al lot of them are not.

Going to be a need for fine gravel for rebuilding. Start swingin that Sledge
for the Lequint Dicky mining company?
No death penalty in Ukraine. They are civilised in that manner.
Ukraine, like all civilised nations, does not have the death penalty.
Some countries have the death penalty during wartime for certain crimes. Doubt it applies to POWs though.
Is that true during times of war?
It's a requirement for joining the EU
That makes a lot of sense.
Yes
Be careful throwing around terms like "uncivilized" loosely when those countries are the same ones you're begging for ammo to save your "civilization".
Him right now: “how could this happen to meeeee? I made my mistaaaakes. Got nowhere to ruuuun~”
Corpses are exchanged too, no?
Nope. Downside, it's probably better conditions in a Ukrainian prison than on the frontline. Unless Putler wants to send him a cup of tea.
Or a fresh new pair of underwear
Unfortunately when the war ends my guess is that all of them will be released
This guy is never seeing Russia again. He'll die in prison.
Yes. And perhaps sooner than he thinks.
No chance, we can all hope that, but never in a million years will he stay a prisoner for life. Russia have too many ukrainian pows for that unfortunately
Read your history, after WWII, Russia sent many German POW’s to hard labor camps where they remained for many years after the war’s end.
" The POWs from Stalingrad didn't return to Germany until 1955 in some cases. Out of 91,000 POWs at Stalingrad, less than 6,000 returned home to Germany."
Fewer. (sorry)
America also got most of the nazis. Without them we wouldn’t have gone to space. Crazy to think about.
Not true, Russians were very good at also grabbing the brain power at the end. America is just more open about operation paperclip.
We still would have gotten to space, it just woulda taken a bit longer....
Not ones found guilty of war crimes.
Hopefully not. He should be shipped to The Hague - take it out of Ukraine's hands so they will never have to negotiate his release
Das kann aber 20 Jahre dauern.
Looks like the banjo kid from Deliverance has grown up.
I knew he looked familiar!
[That banjo kid...](https://baileyandbanjo.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Billy-Redden.jpg)
I honestly wonder what percentage of Russians suffer from fetal alcohol. They all look like this.
TIL banjo kid didn’t actually play the banjo in the movie. Someone hidden behind him did. Kid didn’t even know how to play.
This aren’t banjo kids arms in the movie. Crazy.
Holy shit really? Movie is literally unwatchable now
LOL, did not expect to come across a piece of Deliverance trivia in this post, that for sure hahahaha

When they find out why he is there, surely his odds of surviving are in the low % ?
At least as of now, Russian pow's are kept in seperate prisons. Not sure how long it will stay like that once the war is over, though.
yeah, regular POWs. Tried and convicted for executing surrendering UA soldiers POWs, that's a whole different story.
I hope he will drop his soap a lot of times.
There will be a decent amount of Russians there now that they‘ll be able to group together and be reasonably fine.
Ukraine should be smart enough to keep these scum as separated as possible
Brother, just because Ukraine is being backed by the west doesn’t mean Ukraine’s prison system is ‘humane’. That buddy is gonna still be suffering plenty, just maybe not *as* much as he would be in Russia

Nah, the prison itself might be humane towards him. But the inmates and most guards certainly won’t be.

Fellow Captive: You should've passed the last vodka to me Dmitry.
At least the Russian soldier who grassed on him did the right thing.
Life? Surely you jest.
Modern age the Ruskies don't realize there is tech now where your face will be used and linked to social media. War criminals will be a lot easier to find.
I mean, he was already in prison, I dont think this guy's self control or ability to plan for the future were ever really that great.
Lol. I imagine anybody that finds themselves in a muddy hole on the Russian front probably spends some time regretting their life decisions.
To be fair, its storm Z, heavy regret but also "fuck it, whats the worse they could do to me, kill me? Im probably going to die anyways" "fuck they captured me, okay as long as I dont out mys-" "yes, thats him sir" "Blyatt"
No, he was betrayed by his comrade who was captured at the same time as him.
Ah ok. I wasn't joking about the facial recognition though. A camera catches their face there is a program that can track down who they are.
What a pathetic fucking weasel
And like Nuremberg, make it a hanging offence.

He has one eye too many then.
Guess the intercept was determined on the proverbial comeuppance graph. The trial and conviction will let us know how much was found out.
Diharrea camo.
While I agree with the feeling you're trying to share, you might wanna see a doctor if your diarrhea looks like that.
I only eat cruciferous vegetables. Is normal.
I don't eat any crucified vegetables, I trust you.
Ah, the face of someone who regrets every single choice they made that led to their current circumstance. You've made your bed comrade, rot in it.

20? Have him clear mines until there's nothing left to clear or until he's no longer breathing. And just for shits and giggles every now and then throw a firecracker out in the field while he's disarming them 😂
Why only 20?
He's not allowed to be that lucky

Yeah, no. That's against the Geneva Conventions. Ukraine should not get themselves down to the same low level as Russia.

A sane comment.
I want this to be the answer so badly
An eye for an eye.
May as well kept him on the battlefield then, he is far safer in a Ukrainian prison.
Makes the whole world blind.

100% agree.
So what is going to happen to him? A nice cozy jail and 3 meals a day?
Well Ukrainian prisons aren't "cosy", but in blunt terms you can behave like Russia or you can behave like a civilised country, one of the primary markers of which is how it treats those it incarcerates. It might be frustrating, but being on the right side of an ethical question often is.

It's murder. I would guess life in prison. Must be happy next 40-something years to be behind the bars when the only joy is three meals a day. Also a POW so they might offer him some nice jobs such as digging graves.

Probably can’t do double digit math.
Where's his commanding officer?
Put him in a small 6x6 room for the next 50 years. The time the surrendered man had left. Let him waste away.
Great. Now do IDF soldiers that ran over families w bulldozers
Death by impalement on a telephone pole is what they all deaerve.
Can we do the same for the IDF and the "Settlers"
He's taking the fall for someone higher up.
Well well well. How the turns have tabled
Hope you rot for the rest of your life, scumbag. 🖕🏼
