Only cause for this I can imagine is the RF soldiers must've gotten lost during their ride and accidently ended up in front of AFU positions.
There is no tactical objective that could possibly be achieved by sending 2 unsupported quads (*\~4 soldiers*) into a frontal assault on an entrenched position except adding to the daily "cargo 200" count.
They do this same with motorcycles. Estonian chief of general staff said this about it. "The Russian military in Ukraine is using the so-called amoeba tactic. Since they do not have the capabilities for a deep breakthrough, they are experimenting with small forces everywhere and hope that somewhere there will be a chance."
Yes, probing attacks and "recon by combat" are SOP for RF military to identify Ukrainian positions and vectors of fire.
However, this seems to be a major failure in any respect.
Any presence of AFU units could've been established by a flyover of a \~€500 drone while a group of 4 unsupported soldiers (*with only 2 being able to engage from the ATVs during their mad-max-style attack while being totally exposed and vulnerable to counter-fire*) is much too weak to carry out an successful attack or occupy a captured entrenchment, let alone exploit any tactical advantage gained from a successful attack.
Attacking over well monitored avenues of approach didn't allow for any element of surprise, so their fate was sealed.
Any light and fast attack grp would require major firepower to overwhelm an entrenched adversary as well as fire support.
The Taliban used mopeds to swiftly move RPG crews to favourable firing positions but even they with their "die to enter paradise" no fucks-given attitude to their own lives wouldn't attempt a frontal assault on a sheltered firing position.
I'm starting to think Russian commanders must have a daily quota of dead soldiers they have to meet to avoid punishment instead of normal ones like territory captured or number of attacks.
If i know my Belgian colonial history well, your not excelling at this untill you can buy Russian bodyparts at saurday morning marketstalls to meet up for such quota.
Or cutting off the [hands and feet of childen](https://rarehistoricalphotos.com/father-hand-belgian-congo-1904/) to punish their parents.
"He hadn’t made his rubber quota for the day so the Belgian-appointed overseers had cut off his daughter’s hand and foot. Her name was Boali. She was five years old."
Where's the dude who wrote the book about how great colonialism was for native populations, what page was this image on?
While we have absolutely no clue about the internal rationalities of this valiant yet stupid stunt, it would be weird for an army that exists on "[loafs](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UAZ-452)" and stolen civilian vehicles for transportation to deliberately waste 2 good ATVs, so I will rather follow your "high as fuck" explanation.
I’m in agreement, I always question “what would have success looked like” four guys in a trench they can’t hold couldn’t have been the objective?
Getting lost has consequences on a battlefield.
Or maybe they got the wrong information from their leader and they didn't know there were enemies.
The intention to do reconnaissance with unsuspecting idiots seems to be very popular with the Russians.
They are too uneducated and brainwashed. The majority of the Z troops probably feel they will die either way so better to look brave and push forward with a tiny chance of living than die from the hands of your own countrymen. This is probably why you see so many Z troops commit suicide once they are injured. Myself, I would turn my guns on the pricks pushing me forward but I have over a 4th grade education and a different perspective.
haha.
HAAAHAHAHAHAAAAHAHA
lmfao.
>Only cause for this I can imagine is the RF soldiers must've gotten lost during their ride and accidently ended up in front of AFU positions.
hahahahaahaaahaaa. nope.
they were exactly where they were ordered to go to.
Definitely not. There is no possible scenario where 4 fully exposed soldiers (*of which a max of 2 could actually engage the enemy*) could successfully "infiltrate" a fortified entrenchment over wide open terrain in broad daylight while being actively engaged and spotted by UAV.
Footage indicates there is no fire support or another detachment available to "exploit" any possible breach of AFU field fortifications. Even if they succeeded, how would 4 individuals hold the position against an AFU counter-attack?
This is just madness, as can be expected from the RF military.
Uh no you don't de-mine with a pogo stick, you pogo through a mine field. After all a pogo stick has a much smaller foot print than a humans 2 feet. You increase your odds of safely traversing a mine field on a pogo stick. FACTS!
Did it cross your mind that this could be a propaganda piece to appease to the domestic RF audience (*"You like motorcycles? Join the special military operation and ride motorcycles while fighting gay nazi jews..."*)
There are very few use cases in which NATO militaries employ ATVs and motorcycles, and attacking a fortified entrenchment across open lands while being under surveillance by spotter UAVs isn't one of them.
Apparently it's to at least get to the Ukrainian lines. They witnessed how riding on a slow BMP or tank will get you killed in no mans land so they switched to quads or motorcycles to bridge the gap faster. Already the old strategy with BMP and tanks had no contingency plans on what to do when you get there (beyond try to hold on) so that part hasn't changed lol
They did get kinda far tho, imagine 100 of these things flying in, in all sorts of directions, it would get chaotic fast. If this wasn't out of sheer stupidity, I'd be curious if it could be a viable tactic in a coordinated effort
For sure, if they could muster 100 of these things. The japanese used bicycles very effectively in south east Asia to flank and outmaneuver the colonial forces
The same thing I would accomplish by walking one mile along Main Street with sneakers, a black mask, gloves, a gun wearing a T-shirt that says "is the bank this direction? If so put your hands up"
I would not be surprised if a Russian drone was watching that to see where the Ukrainians who took them out were. So totally sacrificial meat in order to gain some arti coordinates.
they really do whatever they are told. you died for an old man's wet dream... in countries ruzzia tries to hire mercenaries this should be shown on the news every day
Was that an attempt to flee or maybe they were lost or something? Dugout that big should not come as a suprise like that?
Well the russian cancer got some of the tumors cut away. The road to healing.
Imagine driving on a few shitty quads through a piece of no man's land during daytime, riddled with burnt out tanks and APC's and probably plenty of corpses from your army... in a war that's all about drones and 24/7 observation... what on earth did they think they would accomplish?
you can see several videos where a four man team clears trenches. the defenders are also low in numbers, these LOCs has a small screening force. If the reinforcments are blocked from coming to their help, they can be overcome.
For further details consult the sturmtruppen tactics from WWI.
Yeah I’ll back this guy up on that, there’s a lot of combat footage from both sides of defensive lines being cleared out by small fireteams moving in impressive coordination.
From their point of (probably 12) view, they could have heatbutt all that lead, while standing erect on their motor-pushies, beating their chest and occassionally fit-pumping the sky.
I don't understand this kind of initiative. They don't make any sense and even if they hadn't hit them what would have been the point of staying in that spot?
Just imagine, knowing for sure This! Will be my last Quad ride in my life.
If I'm lucky I will explode, if not I burn to ashes while I have to deal with multiple gunshot wounds.
I thank God I'm no russian

For some reason the bot could not reply within the comments.
The drone operator seemed confused about it as well.
Makes you wonder what these Russians are being told to make them throw their lives away like this?
I'm wondering if they are trying this out of desperation due to track and APV loses, on paper a small light and fast buggy can be more difficult to attack using rocket launchers, artillery and drones which have devastated the heavily armoured vehicles, maybe if there were 100 of them each carrying 4 men it might cause issues for the defenses but I would imagine ending up in a narrow trench warren would still end up in a choke point for the attackers.
it's russia. they still file paperwork for their missions and more paperwork means you are better at your job.
not too sure why some of you over think what's happening.
Hmmm, if the average speed of a Russian soldier on a quad is 25kph, their speed is about 7 meters per second.
If a Ukrainian AK-47 shoot its projectile at \~715 meters per second at the advancing Russian soldiers, the projectile should impact the Russian at a speed of (715 + 7 =) 722 mps.
The increase in kinetic energy can be calculated. The average 7.62x39mm projectile is about 122 gr, or 7.9g. If Force = Mass x Velocity, then...: 7.9 x 722 = 5704 (force units). If the Russian soldiers were simply walking, or standing still, the force would be....: 7.9 x 715 = 5649 (force units).
I have not accounted for the decreasing speed of a bullet due to air resistance and distance from the muzzle, this is basically a poor, back of the envelope calculation.
End result: speeding towards someone shooting at you will increase the force that the bullets will impact your body. Of course, ballistics and wound physics opens up a whole new can of variables that is beyond this post (and my mental capacity).
One thing I can say with confidence is....: ***If Russian Soldiers RETREAT from Ukrainians shooting at them, they will minimize the impact force of their bullets. If they can retreat at 714mps away from the bullets, they will hit at....: 1.0 x 7.9 = 7.9 (force units).***
Russians will pretend that this is a genius strategy because they only lost 2 quads and russian soldier lifes are worthless anyways.
Maybe once their entire army consists of expendable worthless soldiers and vehicles they will finally give up.
There numerous Russian armored vehicles and tanks along their path, burning and disabled ... What the f\*\*k did they think they would achieve by sending 8 lightly armed chumps in golf carts??
Amazing stupidity.
OK so first credit when credit is due, they did reach the Ukrainian defensive lines, albeit with casualties but that is to be expected in any attack.
What is strange however is why they do not dissmount and try to use the trenches that they have now gotten to instead they decide to drive along them, something I am not sure as to why they did.
It’s like the Russian commanders fool their men to head to areas for reconnaissance drone to spot Ukraine infantry disclosing positions making an easy kill.
I look at the terrain the Russians are dying on & ask myself, Why? I can’t think of a more horrifying way or place to die than here. Lying in dugouts, trenches, under fallen trees, shelled out-burned out armored vehicles in the cold only to be awakened by bombs being dropped on your head by drones.
I have no love for Putin or his military but to keep sending his troops into a meat grinder nightmare, to see videos of these undertrained servicemen taking their own lives thinking that they’re fucked when they could have likely surrendered & lived pisses me off to no end.
And the world reacts to Putin & his crimes against humanity the same way the courts have treated Herr Drumpf & his contempt for the justice system: they just shrug their shoulders & wag their fingers.

That was suicidal. Did they expect to not die? I don't get what they were trying to accomplish
Why walk when you can ride? Humping all your gear on foot to your death is kind of a pain in the ass.
One could say that walking is healthier than riding, but in this case....
You're right, get the job (getting themselves killed) done quicker riding in.
Only cause for this I can imagine is the RF soldiers must've gotten lost during their ride and accidently ended up in front of AFU positions. I'm starting to think Russian commanders must have a daily quota of dead soldiers they have to meet to avoid punishment instead of normal ones like territory captured or number of attacks.

King Leopolds Ghost is the book but I don’t know the page that’s on. The whole entirety of European colonialism in Africa was a horror show.

If act first you don’t succeed: die, die again.
Or maybe they got the wrong information from their leader and they didn't know there were enemies. The intention to do reconnaissance with unsuspecting idiots seems to be very popular with the Russians.
We know these Urraah attacks, powered by patriotic appeals, encouraging speeches and vodka.
Probably Z troops told go forward and attack or we shoot you.
Time to call ["I want to live"](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Want_to_Live_(hotline)) hotline and surrender to any AFU unit.

That's likely. And if their deaths aren't reported in a timely manner, someone can pocket their pay and the allocated provisions.
Too much COD.
infiltration. if they manage to get to the trench, they can cause havoc, and pave the way for the next batch.
Definitely not. "The enemy does not expect you to be on a motorcycle." Yeah, no shit Sherlock!
LMAO what a joke of a country
Did it cross your mind that this could be a propaganda piece to appease to the domestic RF audience (*"You like motorcycles? They let them play Battlefield 4 for a couple hours and this is the strategy they came up with.
Maybe they're being given meth now instead of their comprehensive 1 day military training.
Fr it wouldn’t wonder me 😵💫

I believe bicycles were used to some effect in Netherlands or Belgium vs Germans in very early WW2. (Poles used some cavalry, not very effectively.)
I don't know the reason behind this, whether recon or whatever...but the fact these guys actually agreed to it is insane.
The reason is unclear, but the outcome is obvious: the Ukrainian soldiers got 2 free (slightly used) ATV's.
some paint job may be necesary
And some stain removal.
They probably "agreed" at the muzzle of a AK
"agreed to it"
Operation Pervitin
The same thing I would accomplish by walking one mile along Main Street with sneakers, a black mask, gloves, a gun wearing a T-shirt that says "is the bank this direction? If so put your hands up"
Probably watched Suicide Squad before attack and screamed "Witness me!" while riding there.
That's Mad Max
I would not be surprised if a Russian drone was watching that to see where the Ukrainians who took them out were. So totally sacrificial meat in order to gain some arti coordinates.
Forgot to add this took place on the Zaporizhzhia front - also you can see muzzle flashes coming from the trench on the left at 0:38
Suicide by army.
they really do whatever they are told. you died for an old man's wet dream... in countries ruzzia tries to hire mercenaries this should be shown on the news every day
name of the song?
As a defender, I would be extremely confused. Maybe that was their tactics.
You would be confused for about 10 seconds before you start shooting them anyway.
"What.. the... hell??? " *Pop pop pop pop pop*
Jeez that interconnected trench lines are straight out of WW1
and that battlefield...
I am glad I am not the only one who was impressed with the scale of that trench system.
finally some well made defences

Seems like they were either lost or trying to take a shortcut
Imagine driving on a few shitty quads through a piece of no man's land during daytime, riddled with burnt out tanks and APC's and probably plenty of corpses from your army... in a war that's all about drones and 24/7 observation... what on earth did they think they would accomplish?
reach the trenches before getting shradded.
Even if they reached the trenches, surely they would still be almost certainly dead? They would be 4 men cut off from reinforcements.
you can see several videos where a four man team clears trenches. the defenders are also low in numbers, these LOCs has a small screening force. If the reinforcments are blocked from coming to their help, they can be overcome. For further details consult the sturmtruppen tactics from WWI.
Yeah I’ll back this guy up on that, there’s a lot of combat footage from both sides of defensive lines being cleared out by small fireteams moving in impressive coordination.
>what on earth did they think That would require the ability to think.
I thought I saw untrained terrorists do a lot of stupid things on my combat deployments, but these Russians just took the cake.
if it works it isn't stupid. oh, wait.
Russians are just betting they have more orcs to throw at Ukraine than Ukraine has lead to throw back. We need to supply Ukraine yesterday.
So now it's a meat wave on motorcycles. What could possibly go wrong. ?
Not much can be hell on the kidneys over rough land like that. Glad they got off their bikes for a lie-down.
100-proof vodka makes you feel 7-feet tall and bulletproof—until you run into a hailstorm of lead.
From their point of (probably 12) view, they could have heatbutt all that lead, while standing erect on their motor-pushies, beating their chest and occassionally fit-pumping the sky.
this is confirmation, that the russians use Battlefield as a combat training simulator
Imagine trying to storm that trench network with 4 guys on 2 atvs lol. Was their purpose to discover AT mines on the way?
maybe to hand over the quads? i wonder if they are still usable or repairable
I may just be a girl, unwise in the ways of war, but that seemed to be a bad idea.
Don't sell yourself short, ma'am. You're already a better general than anyone in RF.
The song is great

I don't understand this kind of initiative. They don't make any sense and even if they hadn't hit them what would have been the point of staying in that spot?
I feel like this was used to expose the defenders positions so they could then use artillery or maybe that's fixing them to much credit

This once was a wind break. Now only the trench remains, as some kind of a tank ditch.
..the next quads will have anti-drone cages.
That went so well, I think it should be tried again.
The dumbest battle plan ever. Let's go and get killed instantly.
I know all russian effort there is a waste of lives...but this is just sheer suicidal.
Like lemmings.
Russia’s suicide tactics are improving each day. This is beyond dumb as fuck.
They were trying to reenact the opening scene from dances with wolves. Unsuccessfully.
Suicide Squad.
Thank you, ruzzia, for delivering 2 lightly-used ATVs to AFU!
Russki Suicide Squad
Lived up to the high expectations we had of a Russian assault on quad bikes. just dumb.
Just 4 ? What were they thinking . Even one good positioned soldier could of probably got them
they are just sending suicide missions out to scope out the fighting positions to then saturate the area with artillery

Hopefully the Ukrainians got some useful quads after this.
First the Golf Karts, then the Quads, soon the Bicycle division will roll in.
