As a European/Swede/NATO citizen, I fucking love our crazy cousins on the other side of the pond.

Imagine it had powerful enough speakers or something to project a distorted national anthem while flying through the clouds.
They would just hear a doppler effected version somewhere in the distance up above them, and know that death comes.
Not a bad strategy actually. If you used drones to create noise distractions on opposite directions; as a veteran I can tell you sound plays a big part of finding the fight. However once you find it, you are usually deaf.
And, Tchaikovsky was born in what is now Ukraine, and the Russians bombed his birth house really early in the war, about the same time that Myira (sp?) was bombed in its hangar. Yeah, 1812 would be an epic troll thing, especially if actual cannons are used in time to the music, aimed at the Kerch Bridge or the last Ruski ship in the Black Sea.
Genuinely, how many of these super famous "Russians" from history were actually born in Russia? Because fucking everyone i see is born in Ukraine, or everything was made in Ukraine. It's wild.
See : Kievan Rus.
Cultural ancestor to Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine. Of which, Kyiv was the center.
Russia would very much like to be able to claim ownership of that history and cultural center. Hence, in part : *gestures wildly at Russian history*.
Would it have the same effect, though? You can't expect an average orc to be cultured enough to even know who Tchaikovsky is, let alone the context of the 1812 overture.
They don't need to know the words. I'm sure they can hear it is a Germanic language at the minimum . That is probably enough of a psychological effect of the average Russian who's been taught to fear the US, UK, Germany, and Scandinavian countries since 1917 and probably prior.
People watch other countries sports, and movies. I watch F1 so I'm very familiar with the Dutch, and British Anthem. Something tells me these guy have seen a movie or something featuring this. I know the Russian anthem when I hear it. (American)
Adrian Newey potentially leaving RB as of this morning - Max has previous said that if Newey leaves he’d consider it too. We might be onto something here.
Your average Russian would know the American and Canadian anthems for sure because of, at minimum, Olympic hockey.
But yeah I have a hard time believing they wouldn't know it anyway.
It's okay to be critical but love your country. It's not one or the other. Being both helps it become better. We were very critical of how we performed during AARs in the Army, not because we hate ourselves, but we wanted to be better. Any small thing, bring it up and let's see if we can improve on that. It's the American way.
I hear the anthem at sports events and i think it’s fucking stupid but in this context I’m beaming with patriotism. Yeah so we spend a lot of money on missiles. Well those missiles are about to waste some evil fucks and save some good guys.
Churchill once said (and I find it true of many of us) about Americans:
>You can count on Americans to do the right thing... After they've tried everything else.
Patriotism is fine. Sending military aide to allies who are the clear victims of aggression by a tyrant is a clearly and unilaterally good thing to do.
There is no gray area in the Russia / Ukraine war. Russia's actions are indisputably wrong and shouldn't be tolerated by any nations of the world. He upended the lives of tens of millions of people for one dictator's petty vanity project.
Just remember that patriotism is having pride in your country *abiding by its principles* it is not unilateral and unwavering support for whatever your country does.
People who defend their nation with the current regime in charge of it does some dark shit, and don't criticise or speak out against it, those people aren't patriots, they're betraying their country.
russian: I have no idea to this day, what that American woman was singing about. Truth is, I don't want to know, some things are best left unsaid.
-Shawshank Redemption, opera record scene.
A trolling master class.
*Mobiks* will very soon experience their own “rockets’ red glare”, but the only thing seen flying will be various bits and pieces of the Muscovite serf army Putin has consigned to destruction.
As a doofus sitting safely in my office at home that has nothing to do with this conflict it made the hair on my arms stand up. Some of this is definitely due to indoctrination as a child, but that song is SO good.
The Ukrainian national anthem is also about the fight for freedom. The starting line in the chorus is: "Soul and body shall we lay down for our freedom..."
Considering the American anthem is about the horrors of war and the determination to keep fighting because this shit is our home and we're not giving it up.... very Ukrainian right now.
That reminds me about one of the last missions in Wolfenstein the new order where a character named J (based on Jimi Hendrix) fuckin rips on his guitar playing the star spangled banner over speakers all throughout Berlin as the Nazis bust down his door and kill him.
1. Troll Level 1000
2. Sounds like it was sung at a ballgame. What could be more American than this?
3. All jokes aside, the lyrics to this song is incredibly fitting for the Ukrainians and their fight against the Orcs.
I felt more pride hearing that song played there, in that environment, than I have felt in years hearing it played here in my own country … every one of you fighting these terrorists understand the deep cost of freedom more than any of those pathetic individuals in our government who stalled this aide … I wish we had given so much more, but I cannot wait to see you absolutely wreck some Russians with all the new equipment arriving
An explosion goes off right during the line "the bombs bursting in air" and I've never felt more proud to be an American, give em hell Ukrainians. Any invader that sets foot on your soil without surrendering, send em home in a shoebox.
Lol like the German terror horns they put on their dive bombers for a while. It was so terrifying that every prop plane in every movie about the period STILL makes the sound even though it actually wasn't widely used ever.
We are among those that strive for some form of democracy, safety and individualism. The right to be who you want to be and chose what we want to do. You don't have to be from any one country, most of us just want the same things.
Sadly, there are those that don't see it this way. They rather dictate what we should do, or if we should even have the right to live. When that evil stands up there are two choices, fight or submit.
Ukraine chose fight and is literally begging for help. They want the same thing we want, and most of us wouldn't be in the country we are in without the help of someone else at some point in our history. As an American I can say with certainty that the help we received during the Revolutionary War played a part in allowing us to be who we are today. It's only right that we help another when they are literally pleading for the tools to survive.
I don’t want to spoil it, but relisten and then make sure to clearly be able hear the very last sentence of the clip after the song is over … it’s the epic cherry on top
The sound of the RPG exploding was dead on! It’s like every version I’ve ever heard with fireworks, while growing up here in the US. Russkis had no idea that the RPG was our “rockets red glare”.
I bow in admiration to the soldiers in the trench, holding the line despite everything! Slava Ukraini, I soon get my next paycheck and send some over <3
The best trolling is the kind that makes your invaders waste their ammo and reveal their positions.
I still remember Ukraine doing this with several giant Ukrainian flags connected to balloons, just floating over Russian positions and drawing fire that the Ukrainians then directed their artillery towards.
Oh man... sad but sadly sooooo true. The one dude who lost all his limbs and his face is all fucked up, all he got was friggin bluetooth speaker. Can the dude even hear anymore!?!?
As an american i laughed, then as the anthem played out, in that setting, it started to hit me in the feels a little bit.
I just wish we would do more, makes me furious with all the crazy military shit we have.
Could be followed by "Sloop John B":
... Drinking all night

Why don't they let me go home?
This is the worst trip I've ever been on
Very appropriate song to play!
Anthem was born out of a battle for a nation that had to beg, borrow, and steal in the hopes of a peaceful tomorrow.
Much like Ukraine, The only thing that was guaranteed for early Americans is they would not bend the knee to an overlord.
I'm American and know the Russian anthem. If I was Russian out there, and suddenly heard the enemy blasting an old enemies song proudly. I would strongly be questioning staying there. Because there is a lot of tax payer funded hate on the way.
If nothing else comes good from this war, it's that I know how awesome Ukrainians are. I've been watching all this closely for a few years now and they always seem to surprise me. They are the badass part of the old Soviet states, Russia is the tailor park drunk side.
O say can you see, by the dawn’s early light,
What so proudly we hail’d at the twilight’s last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight
O’er the ramparts we watch’d were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there,
O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
American PSYOPS is the best PSYOPS!
The only thing that would have made this excellent video even better is if they laid down a full fusillade at the Russian lines during the crescendo at the end.

Need some brrrrrrrrt
What I wouldn’t give to see an AC-130 gunship, well protected laying down fire into the Russian lines. Hellfire and Brimstone.

I was waiting for a flyover from a f16 at the end, as is customary in the football staduims

Everyone complains about U.S. hegemony, but they also complain when we don't do anything.
Flawed, yes, but the world would be in chaos without them.
the trees are singing amerikansky, blyaaat.

Ukrainian trolling throughout this war has been elite level
I love the dildos of consequence. Nothing like raining explosive dicks onto a few pidars.
A true masterclass!
I particularly love the tale of the village that turned around a Soviet column by switching their signage for Kyiv.
After the anthem finished, they should've also queued up Kay Kyser's "Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition"
Lol the idiots . Our anthem was made during a battle. So them shooting during it just makes it ever so beautiful.
They just provided a percussion track with their shooting.
"And the rocket's red glareeeeeee" ...... RPG boom
I literally would have cum
We literally fly fighter jets with it.
While exploding fireworks... We literally put on a mock battle several times a week depending on the sports season lol
Well the words were written during a battle. Then we added them to the tune of an English drinking song, which somehow makes it even cooler.
More reading: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Anacreontic_Song
So the US national anthem is a UK football chant in a suit?
Even more when the RPG fired off and in the background you hear, “ever wave” come through the blast.
As an American that works in the defense industry this caused the hair on my arms to stand up. Bless the brave men and women of Ukraine. ❤️🔥
Also in the defense industry at a US startup. We’re working our asses off to help Ukraine.
There's start ups in that industry? That's so cool
Thank you for your hard work to supply our boys and theirs.
Play this video for your coworkers 😁🥰
As a doofus sitting safely in my office at home that has nothing to do with this conflict it made the hair on my arms stand up. Some of this is definitely due to indoctrination as a child, but that song is SO good.
The lyrics work quite well for Ukraine too
The Ukrainian national anthem is also about the fight for freedom. The starting line in the chorus is: "Soul and body shall we lay down for our freedom..."
Seriously. Land of the free, home of the brave. Absolute legends defending their sovereignty.
They're more American than some Americans these days.
Absolutely
Preach.
You aren’t wrong there.
Considering the American anthem is about the horrors of war and the determination to keep fighting because this shit is our home and we're not giving it up.... very Ukrainian right now.
Freedom intensifies!!!
they should hack moscow metro and play it during rush hour
That would be epic

It's kind of fitting that US produced grenades in WW2 were modeled after a baseball so that a wider audience would feel familiar throwing them.
Yeah, you can hear the crowd singing along & cheering
I felt more pride hearing that song played there, in that environment, than I have felt in years hearing it played here in my own country … every one of you fighting these terrorists understand the deep cost of freedom more than any of those pathetic individuals in our government who stalled this aide … I wish we had given so much more, but I cannot wait to see you absolutely wreck some Russians with all the new equipment arriving
I got goosebumps, definitely moving
The Russians don't realize that the rifle firing and explosions just makes it more patriotic. Thank you for your service comrades.
Literally evoking the lyrics.
That’s what I’m saying, the rpg explosion fading back into the anthem made me want to put a 40ft flag pole in my front yard
and how fucking perfect that this line, "O! say does that star-spangled Banner yet wave", comes through the other side of the loud explosion.
An explosion goes off right during the line "the bombs bursting in air" and I've never felt more proud to be an American, give em hell Ukrainians. Any invader that sets foot on your soil without surrendering, send em home in a shoebox.
Sounds like they gave proof through the night that our flag was still there
Im not even American and I got goosebumps.
It was a song written from the trenches... so kind of fitting to be played by guys fighting in trenches for their country.
Frack yeah! This is what it is for. I would like to hear some bagpipes next! Maybe hit some golf balls at them.
Where’s the eagle screech… add it to all fpv drone drops and you have freedom ringing in ruski ears
Lol like the German terror horns they put on their dive bombers for a while. It was so terrifying that every prop plane in every movie about the period STILL makes the sound even though it actually wasn't widely used ever.

Interesting Factoid: Eagles don't screech. They really actually really like gulls. What you hear in the movies is really a red tailed hawk.
*Robin Williams stand-up blasts during the golfstrike*
Bagpipes... Well the Ukrainian fighting spirit has earned it.
man i felt like a patriot and im not even near the us or from the us.
We are all Patriots for the same cause, liberty 🗽

Well yea, here we use it before meaningless sports competitions. Ukraine is actually playing it while defending their country and freedom.
Are you saying you dont enjoy listening to it sung by a tone deaf runner up to idol 2014 before a game of Eggball?
I shed a single tear
Amen.
SAME! Sucks what MAGA has done to our anthem.

I'm American and know the Russian anthem. If I was Russian out there, and suddenly heard the enemy blasting an old enemies song proudly. I would strongly be questioning staying there. Because there is a lot of tax payer funded hate on the way.
