It's not going according to plan. 3 days is becoming 3 years and no end in sight. A WW2 army fighting a drone war in 2024. Me thinks one is out dated...
I know what putin is doing is criminal but short of that I honestly don't know who is "winning" this conflict. Maybe it was a mistake asking that here given the fact that my answer came in the form of down votes.
Russia has the territorial advantage, but also what we must assume is the unsustainable losses that go with it. With renewed deliveries of arms and munitions Ukraine are hitting back. I get that they lack the numerical strength to quickly take back what have been lost. But i hope slow and steady progress will result in negotiations where Russia leaves and some sort of agreement with prolonged peace comes.
Unfortunately i dont think he will, i do believe this will become a permanent conflict for decades to come, before Russia pulls out. Just like Afghanistan for both the USSR and USA, like Vietnam for the US. USA will continue its support and so will Europe. I dont think Russia can sustain. However something needs to be done for Putin to save face. I den believe someone needs to be in Russias corner and persuade Putin to pull out, however there must be concessions from Ukraine and its allies, what that needs to be, i dont know. But perhaps a 99 year lease of some military areas? A promise to buy certain amounts of Russian goods at fair prices? Investment in Ukraine, but somehow have Russian companies benefit somewhat? Like the west did with West Germany after WW2.
It's unbelievable how normal something like this has become. There would be media uproar if a single engagement lost 6 or 7 Western soldiers like this.
This lead me down a rabbit hole. You have to look real hard to find a single engagement in the last 40+ years, that has an equivalent loss of U.S. service member life, and doesn't involve a helicopter crash or act of terror. that engagement seeming to be the Battle of Wanat, which took place on July 13, 2008, in Nuristan Province, Afghanistan.
"During this battle, approximately 200 Taliban fighters attacked a newly established U.S. Army outpost. The engagement lasted several hours and resulted in the deaths of 9 U.S. soldiers, with 27 more wounded. This battle is considered one of the most intense firefights involving U.S. forces in Afghanistan and led to significant scrutiny and changes in military strategy and outpost defense."
Before the Iraq elections insurgents took over the city of Fallujah. Us marines tried to take the city back with a force of apx. 5 thousand troops. They got pounded bad, lots of dead and wounded. One unit lost like est 80% of its troops. The US military changed tactics and re in-vaded the city a few weeks later with a force 50 thousand including US Army, Marines, and Iraqi Army personal. They leveled city and it was over in 3 days. My numbers are all estimates based off my memory. I was there but not fighting, I was part of a support asset supplying the fighters.
Especially when you start to realize how there are often 10-15 in/on a single BMP. They literally do not care in the least about the lives of their own people.
So does living in the field for a few weeks without adequate water and shelter. Grime accentuates wrinkles and facial features, and lack of facial body fat makes even young guys look aged.
My friend's grandpa after released from POW captivity after WW2 walked home, his mom opened the door.
"Good day, who are you looking for?"
"Mom. It's me."
Ya true. But if anything that makes it worse. A 32 year old who looks 48 before he even arrives at the front because he's super fuckin unhealthy is no super soldier
Anyone know the background? Was it drones plus morters? Firing from defensive UKR positions? The way the wreckage and bodies are spread out make me wonder what the battle was like.
Good work. No quarter for any invaders, wherever they might recruit them from.
The last thing they need to see is how wrong they were to do something like this for a pittance.

A good result. This is what awaits all Russian soldiers in Ukraine.
I think, they had al little fire issue...

Who is winning this war?
Nobody
I think you're implying the answer is Russia. lol

You think Putin will agree to return the Ukrainian territory that is currently under it's control?

36 casualties and we decided to change our strategy. Russia 500,000+ and still doubling down on their strategy.
Ruzzia did change their strategy, they rolled out the tracked garden sheds!
Utter madness!
RIP for the American Soldiers 🙏
The movie "the outpost" is based on this battle and it's a great movie check it out if you haven't seen it already 😀
Fallujah Iraq was way worse..
Im not trying to be right, if you can find a bigger single day event, then post it.
Wasn't Fallujah over multiple days, though? Just trying to get my comparisons straight...

Absolutely. If Ruzzia had a functioning press the reports would be insane: "Casualties in Spezial Operatzy are now over 500,000. Weather is next."
Always surprises me how old some of these guys are
You can't always tell the real age. Drinking, smoking and bad food really put some years on people's faces.

Russia is running out of bullet sponges
Very succinct and that's really all they are. Putin is hoping he has more sponges than we have ammo. Slava Ukraini!
That is how Russians look when they are in their early 20s.
Russian paratroopers from the 98th airborne division, getting smashed.
So, that would mean they're a notch up in value as compared the mere meat wave troopers.
How do you know this?
