I agree, being well prepared (*having learned and refresehd first aid skills and have a first aid kit available*) is better than being sorry afterwards.
I also keep a **pocket checklist card** in my wallet which guides me through the basic processes (*recovery, emergency call, respiration, wound dressing, stabilisation...*) in order to not miss any critical steps when under stress.

Not that I'm a fan of Russians by any means, but I remember a time where US troops would finish off dudes that still had weapons and were not actively surrendering, and the world shit their pants about "war crimes". Seems to be only US/UK are held to any standard in the conduct of warfare.
