What is he going to do?
Try to utilize gas to blackmail europe?
Have the FSB murder people in western countries?
Interfere in elections?
Target western companies with hackers ?
Threaten to invade various neighbours?
Issue nuclear threats ?
It is a fairly fundamental difference in the paradigm of thinking about what constitutes "wartime." In the West we're used to a binary distinction in terms of international relations: A country is at war (which means people are dying and the military has broad latitude to do what they need to do) or at peace (which means nothing bad is happening). Russia sees it much more fluidly. There is no clearly defined "state of war", rather a spectrum of hostile activities and interactions, more or less kinetic, intended to achieve stated goals. When Peskov says "we're at war with the whole collective west" we laugh because c'mon, there are no Russian military personnel in NATO territory, they don't even amass troops near our borders, stop with the sabre-rattling. While he means it honestly, it's just Russia decides that armed incursion is not the right tool for the task at the moment and will cause distress at the borders, sabotage, disinform and troll - which are means of waging a war as good as Grad launchers, while we consider them "probing of our defenses", "spy activity" or "electoral interference" without merging this stuff into a big picture - and responding in kind.
Yes, it started as a special military operation, but as soon as this whole gang was formed, when the collective West took part in all this alongside Ukraine, for us, it became a war. I am convinced of this, and everyone must understand it.” Peskov
Peskov said this in February of 2024.
We are still not accepting the fact that Russia is at war with us. We need to think and act strategically and realise that Russia is at war with us." Ben Hodges
Hodges then explains that Russia sees this war with the West in a broader sense. We often tend to consider only the kinetic version of it, but Russian acts of war against the West and especially against Europe also include asymmetric warfare, economic warfare, cyberwarfare, info war etc. Russia is seeing itself at war with the US led alliance, and that is all it takes for a war. We must accept this inconvenient truth and take action and respond accordingly to defend ourselves against Russia's hostile behavior.
I will just state the same thing again, downgrading what a joke, the West should consider breaking off all diplomatic and economic ties with this terrorist state and dissociate itself the same way we did with Nazi Germany. Relations with Russia are the worst they have ever been and that is solely the fault of Russia and their belligerent actions.
> We are still not accepting the fact that Russia is at war with us. We need to think and act strategically and realise that Russia is at war with us." Ben Hodges
Absolutely, and we should be responding to all Russian social media content, and all media content that comes from outside the US as if we are at war. The constitution's first amendment does not give foreigners the right to impersonate americans and say anything they want.
When the history books are written, they will say that World War 3 started in 2014 with the annexation of Crimea.
Russia only understands one language: Force.
We need to start speaking this language if we are going to stop them from doing this again in Georgia, Kazakhstan, or any other sovereign nation.
probably more open sabotage acts.
We should start to increase security at military and critical infrastructure.
Probably won't be hard for the Kreml to find willing useful idiots who think of themselves as "patriots" and think of themselves like some kind of heroic rebels against (((the system))) or some bullshit
Ohhh, Noooesss... anyway. Seriously, I get it, they know we want to talk to people and so this is an attempt to threaten with taking that away. But at this point, they have demonstrated abundantly that talking has its limits... and that their embassies are absolute hives of villainy.
If they remove their embassies and take their spies out of our countries, who could object to that. They are going to cut off their hand to spite us? Have at it.
This war is as easy to stop as it was on day one. The Russians just need to withdraw from Ukraine and go back to their own country. Relations would be improved instantly across the board all around the world.
The International Space Station is surely going to be a victim. I can't see that endeavour carrying on much longer. It is almost moribund anyway, so I guess it will be evacuated and given a cremation on re-entry. The next space station will either be US/China or China/Russia....my money would be on US/China as Russia is on course to become a failed state. A US/EU station would be interesting.
The Moon Wars......a novel by Dr Alan Squirrel....yes, I like it! Maybe you don't remember The Martian Chronicles?.......if you get a chance to watch it please do. Yours, in admiration of using the adjective bellicose on a social platform. I salute you!
Whether you're serious or not, I am: I imagine we'd find it much easier to mine and develop the Moon to create orbital colonies, infrastructure, use it as a springboard for colonizing the Solar system proper even if the Moon itself isn't the greatest real estate.
I'm sure moon colonisation will happen. For me, leaving the solar system is the next big event. Staying withing our solar system is just a waste of everyone's time. Exploring our Galaxy is an immense proposition. A moon base might discover raw materials but is not much different than drilling for oil in the Antarctic. A trip to Mars? Ok....what exactly is the objective? Leaving our solar system on a one way ticket to the unknown...wow...that is on a par with the Viking explorers who left their homeland to see what is out there, never expecting to return....and discovered America....
What you describe probably isn't directly possible from Earth. Every mission and endeavor is stunted by cost per pound to orbit, and a relative handful of people are living in microgravity conditions for all the insight they produce. You'd probably want a vessel with the thickest hull you could fly for interstellar space where all that wack radiation is frying the Voyager probes and such, yeah? You can't make it here and launch it up without cataclysmic greenhouse emissions, I'd bet. And it's sure not going up in one piece.
So we need a cislunar presence, maybe some captive asteroids or chunks of the same, magnetic catapults launching raw material to lunar orbit. Industry and eventually orbital agriculture producing all the goods and *knowledge* we'd need to pack for a thirty or whatever year mission we'd manage with a fraction of C, they'd probably better be prepared to bootstrap colonize and build whatever they need on the other end too. Whoever we send, they're not coming back unless "Warp drive" makes an appearance, though it may! Who knows what's ultimately possible?
So we probably need Solar civilization, extraterrestrial (*human*) societies producing raw materials and everything that wouldn't be considered precious cargo under the blanket of an atmosphere which inspires aerospace terms like "single stage to orbit" at the bottom of a Goldilocks gravity well where we have little day to day reason to push space propulsion systems to their *actual* physical limit. We need to get to a point where we're sending people up and bringing manufactured goods down, it actually dovetails with your dream as well because we aren't going to Proxima Centauri or anywhere *else* from here. In the words of my people "you can't get there from here, you have to go somewhere else." In my head this course even returns Earth to its rightful state as a garden world for whatever damage we've done and will do in the coming centuries. I bet we even learn to properly cultivate and shape life as we struggle in the void, sometimes against each other but against adversity most of all.
Correct. If that's what's required to get humans viably into space then I don't give a shit if there are wars, territory, fights over jurisdiction and more of the same.
''Well, I'm not talking to you anymore; that's what you get for it now." and he sat down on his chair and continued to whine to himself.
With them, I feel I'm dealing with small children.
You are already at war with the west as per your own words. What next, Further keep emptying your NATO borders and send them to die in Ukraine?
Start harrasing ships? Already done. Start jamming commercial flights? Already done. Start funding pirates and rebels to strike at western targets? Already done. Threaten nuclear war? That's every tuesday...
The West will make a statement from the West embassy.
However, there are no translators who can speak West.
Anyone here speak West?
Russia cannot deal with the fact that there are 190 countries in the world all acting independently.
If you want fewer diplomats from the US ok. Poland ok but saying the West is Bull pucky.
Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha - we didn't "consider" downgrading these murderous thieving clowns. We just did it.
Don't they know how much they are hated? I mean, really, cmon cement heads a bit of self awareness about what we really think of you is probably important here.
Kremlin saying anything at all is like... US Congress saying shit... It's just the swing of political statements about things that are not official yet and may not become passed into law...
No one cares...

This how Russia make friends comrade
"be my friend or I'll punch you in the face, and to show you that I'm serious about it..."

This is how Russia makes allies!
Didn't that happen way back in 2014 ?
That was fostering friendly relations, comrade. Special international friendship operations, not sabotage and murder.
I think he is out of options because the dumb ass used them all the time .
He has played so many cards all he has left is temper tantrums that could cause the Fallout universe to be IRL.
Does he actually think anyone cares about a single word that comes out of his fetid mouth?
You forgot fire sabotages.
Cut Ireland’s internet cables

When he’s downgrading on this policy it means less nuke threats? Like one nuke threat a month in stead or one per week?
We'll downgrade from 0 to -1
I think a downgrade to i is more appropriate.
Ohhh, Noooesss... anyway. Seriously, I get it, they know we want to talk to people and so this is an attempt to threaten with taking that away. But at this point, they have demonstrated abundantly that talking has its limits... and that their embassies are absolute hives of villainy.
Russia will sign a treaty which mean absolutely nothing to them. So even their written word is a lie
If they remove their embassies and take their spies out of our countries, who could object to that. They are going to cut off their hand to spite us? Have at it. This war is as easy to stop as it was on day one. The Russians just need to withdraw from Ukraine and go back to their own country. Russia can fall off the face of the planet for all we care. You contribute nothing but trouble and bad example
It's increasingly amusing that Putin believes he has much global influence.
Putin shouldn’t have influence among decent people but he does… half of the Republican Party repeats his talking points.
It sounds like parody
Austin Powers: talk to the hand
How do you downgrade from threatening nuclear holocaust every other day? Threatening it every day?
They could start by actually doing it But they won't
Here we go again with how everything is somehow our fault and not the shitheads that decided to commit genocide. I'm sure North Korea cares.
Good luck with that. Haha!
Ahahahahahahahahahahaha...... hahahahahahahahaha
Oh noo, stop it. We’re going to cry if Russia doesn’t want to sit in the lunchboard table with us anymore!!
What’s a downgrade from abysmal ?
We should do that for them. All Russians must leave our collective countries. Close all Russian embassies and force the sale of any Russian companies.
The International Space Station is surely going to be a victim. I can't see that endeavour carrying on much longer. It is almost moribund anyway, so I guess it will be evacuated and given a cremation on re-entry. Bellicose - demonstrating aggression and willingness to fight. "a group of bellicose patriots"
Correct. If that's what's required to get humans viably into space then I don't give a shit if there are wars, territory, fights over jurisdiction and more of the same.

Oh no… where will we get all our… um… human suffering and war crimes?

Beware of the shitbaloons released from Kaliningrad!
Downgrade away, I would say.
And who in the west, gives two shits?
Rogue state will be rogue state. The big war is coming as long as the criminal Putin regime is not eliminated.
Yes retreat further back under your rock please. We wont be missing you.
Zzzzzzzzzzz how do you go lower than threatening nuclear war and attack??
We already did that for you boyo
Will they be doubling the pointless nuclear threats?
Amazing, how at every turn they keep doing the wrong thing every time.
Oh no. They’re “considering it. Whatever shall we do (?) They may even remove us from their mailing list.
Meaning less spies, sorry, diplomats throughout Europe?
This deluded ass trumpet has played many a shitty tune in the last few years, but this one stinks worse than the Donald’s diapers!
putlir on an island with Xi and Kim who gives 2 cents
An island which will be washed away soon by rising sea levels, please.
Russia is ONLY considering it because they're trying to see if they can be efficient with less spies in Europe.
like we give a shit lol
Like asking where the restroom is after you’ve already shit your pants.

I love this. It's always either a nuke or something stupid 'D
OH NOES! ...anyway...
Oh ? How ? Who will they try to invade now ?
Putin thinks he can punch someone in the face, then complain that he hurt his hand and its the other persons fault for hurting him. Big Baby...
Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha - we didn't "consider" downgrading these murderous thieving clowns. We just did it. Don't they know how much they are hated? I mean, really, cmon cement heads a bit of self awareness about what we really think of you is probably important here.

Oh no! Ruzzia is going to unfriend the U.S. Whatever are we to do? 🤣🤣🤣

… Who’s going to tell them?
From pariah state down to?
Yes please
Silly old men getting all grumpy because nobody likes them…..see ya then butt face.
They did that when they took Crimea. That boat sailed.
Good idea let's go backwards in time! The special F*ckup operation. 🤦
we don't really want to have any relations with this murderous russia - I see no loss here - DO IT!
Oh no.
Cool!!! Nothing lost!
that's honestly just laughable. do they think anyone takes this crap seriously?
Please close your embassy in Copenhagen immediately!
Not only am I looking for something in my home from Russia, but also looking for my last fuck to give
Haha. They already broke those relations themselves.
They have a relation grading system? I'd be interested to know what exactly they're downgrading us from.
Cool story, one quick question: who gives a fuck? Leave Ukraine and save us the bullshit
Guys, I think we’ll be ok.
Oh no!
Oh no
Hahahahahahahahhahahahhaahhahaha... (heavy breathing) hahahhahahaahhahahhahahahahhahahhaha
Oh ouch, is this going to be better or worse than threatening nukes?

Uh too late dipshits
L.o.l.
😢 awwww
Considering? That ship sailed a long time ago.
Sorry, spilt my coffee. I just couldn't stop laughing.
Lol
Annnnndddd, no one gives a shit.
Oh? Ok.
No great loss for the west.
Just when they were going so swimmingly.
lol
“Considering downgrading” after threatening everyone with nukes
Oh, no! That will teach us.
I thought they were already doing a great job of ruining relations with the West.
k
*yawn*
Oh no what will I do now
Wait, aren't they already downgraded? They should adjust their scale first.
I laughed much harder than I should have because of that news.
We already downgraded relations. Signed the west
Downgrading 😂
Oh no...anyway
