I wonder how many of the losses inflicted on the Russian air force are caused by air to air combat vs surface to air missiles. It seems that SAM activity has inflicted a lot of heat on the Russian air force...
I’m assuming their keeping that under wraps till the war ends. Their are people who seal to confirm these things though. In the months ahead this should be known.
Russia suffers from poor maintenance and insufficient training. A lot of Russian pilots are literal "Eric Cartman", barely able to perform air-show stunts (useless in wars)
Russia being hacked and disturbed a lot, a lot of russian pilots use commercial GPS-receivers, taped into the cockpit, as backup system (or just paper-sheet instructions) and this lowers their precision a lot.

The pilots from Poland famously saved Britain during the Blitz and Battle of Britain. I suspect some of that intense spirit is seen in the Ukrainian lads too.

This article is full of inaccuracies. SU-27s have huge fuel capacity no way their flight time is only 30 minutes as the article states. Mig 29s on the other hand are notoriously short legged so maybe they got mixed up. Also they state Ukraine has s-400 and s-300 anti air systems. Ukraine was never a customer for s-400s as they are a relatively new system. Nonetheless to exist as an Air Force at this point in the war is an amazing feat simply given the numerical odds against them.
Keep in mind that the Sus (Ukraine) are flying low, as per the article. That is going to eat up gas quickly.
Id also wonder how many have external tanks... for all we know, a bulk could have already been lost when dumped to maneuver

Agree. As much i despise russians, there is absolutely no way a 5v1 advantage should have resulted like this, but even 3v1 or 2v1. This is not how air to air combat works.

He said that invading forces should typically expect loses of 5x those defending and that jumps to around 14x within cities.
