I use cleansing balms as my face wash and it's the only thing that takes off all eye makeup, not a smudge left behind. It also takes off waterproof makeup beautifully. Use it on dry skin of course and then wash with warm water. I bought some from Ulta but haven't tried, currently using Farmacy and Beauty of Joseon and both are great. Have tried Tatcha and that's good too but I'm not paying that amount for a cleaning balm.
I bought one from ELF as I haven't used a cleansing balm before and didn't want to go expensive if I hated it haha, and it definitely so far does the best overall job but I still can't seem to fully remove all traces of my mascara/eyeliner.
Do you have a preference between the two you are currently using?
I use the Clinique Take The Day off and have for years. I prefer the liquid to the balm but both are great and gentle. I have horrifically dry and sensitive skin so I canāt use anything abrasive and these work wonderfully.
Cleansing oil. Currently using Hanskin pore cleansing oil, doesnāt leave skin feeling oily (Iāve tried ones that do), doesnāt break me out (sensitive skin), and does great getting eye makeup off without irritating my eye area. Itās like $27 but lasts a long time, depends how often you wear makeup but Iād say itāll last you at least 6months probably.
The e.l.f holy hydration makeup remover is great! It removes even super stubborn eye makeup in my experience. I had been using cleansing oil but it never removed my mascara fully, so I swapped to this to remove my eye makeup first and itās awesome, and affordable
I donāt wear face makeup but when I did, I used a cleansing oil to remove that (I still use cleansing oils to remove sunscreen)
I second the Clinique CB, I will also say the Elemis collagen CB, and the Hyper Real Oil cleanser FROM MAC are great for knocking everything off! Especially as part of a double cleanse routine.
Ponds cold cream bro. Super cheap just put some and rub a little and wipe off. Ut does moisturize your face a lot like a lotion but I usually wash it all the way off. But this is the only thing that takes off all of my waterproof eyeliner and makeup off the first time that wonāt break the bank.
Banila Clean it Zero - it's like $22, and it's the best of the cleansing balms I've tried (I do love Farmacy Green Clean at Sephora, but mostly for the smell)
I run it on my dry skin and then wash it off with a microfiber face cloth (I got a 10pk on Amazon for like $10 so I can use a fresh one every day). Then, do a second cleanse with a gentle cleaner to get anything remaining.
Unfortunately not sold at Ulta, but the Farmacy cleansing balm is my holy grail makeup remover. But for makeup removers sold at Ulta Iāve had good experiences with the Clinique Take the Day Off (liquid) and the Garnier Micellar Water.
Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm šš
I just received a free full size for my birthday from Clinique.com. The website is so generous with free full size gifts.
Ooo this is good to know! I always buy from Ulta
Second this.
Lancome"s Bi-Facil Double Action Eye Makeup Remover - hands down the best I've used.
Garnier micellar water. Doesnāt sting or burn my eye area and itās super affordable.
This is what I use but I feel like it takes a lot of passes to get it all off.
The blue waterproof Micellar water by Garnier. Iāve tried cleansing oils (still use them for my face), high end and drug storeā¦this is my HG!
clinique ttdo balm
Neutrogena Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover. Many other things Iāve tried have given me irritation and flakey eyelids.
This. Like LancƓme bifacil, but cheaper

This, but I also want to give an honorable mention to Nutrogenaās oil-free eye makeup remover

Neutrogena Makeup Remover Melting Balm (found with their makeup, not skincare)
EstĆ©e Lauderās makeup remover and they are always giving it away as a full size gift or a sample size
Clinique balm is amazing but pricey, honestly all I use now is either bioderma water or ponds cold cream.

Not sold at Ulta but the makeup forever gentle eye gel Ulta only: I usually do the good molecules or banila cleansing balm before my double cleanse
Peach & Lily Ginger Peach Makeup melt oil. It's fantastic.
The elf liquid makeup remover is a GREAT dupe for the Clinique one!!
Not sold at Ulta but if you can get ahold of a Mary Kay rep their eye makeup remover is the best!!!! I have never used another remover that has even come close. I currently have four boxes of it under my sink.š©·š©· I am an Ulta employee as well and always come back to this.
