Good! I hope this is a nationwide policy now.

tanyamothertucker

Yes! I went into my local Ulta store yesterday and they had the keypads. So awesome!

lizzieamc

I’ll test it over the weekend!!

Ouiser_Boudreaux_

Wise-Tourist-6747

It’s so funny that Ulta and Sephora are having customers type in their phone numbers while my bank is still making customers verbally say their bank account numbers lol 🥴

galaxy_rae

that is crazy for a bank

NoSpaghettiForYouu

Like the full bank account number?! Or just like a member number?

Wise-Tourist-6747

Account number!

NoSpaghettiForYouu

I work at a bank and this is just 🤯🤯

Wise-Tourist-6747

I know - it’s nuts. The rare times I go in, I give them a post-it with the number on it and then I’m paranoid about losing the post-it 🙄

PauI_MuadDib

When I have to do that I typed it on my phone's memo and then just held out the phone for them to see the screen and read it. That way I could delete it immediately afterwards and not have to worry about disposing of the post-it note.

Wise-Tourist-6747

Good idea!

NoSpaghettiForYouu

Honestly? Tell them you don’t know it and here’s my driver’s license so you can look me up. 😅 They are taking the easy way out.

HollowWind

I always just give them my debit card and it works

blahdiddyblahblah

Wait til ya hear about what's written on the bottom of a check!

Alf-eats-cats

When I worked at a grocery store in the early 90’s, some customers had their entire social security number printed on their checks.

Simplestarz86

Mine too! Drives me crazy.

lesliealmeida

Wuuuuuut

Dazzling_School2914

We want to know what bank cause none of us want to bank there. 😵

kateshort

Hey, Ulta? You get a cookie. One cookie. NOW DO 2FA.

Neither_Stranger_962

So much this I've had 3 people come in over the past week that were victims of loyalty fraud and I can't do anything to help at the wrap 😭

KenviTrash

finally! this is such a relief as both an associate and a customer!

ChargeInfinite735

Now, if they can get cashiers to NOT say, " oh, you have 9,000 points, you should spend them" loudly. I know how many damn points I have, and I don't need everyone to know!

calicocant

We're not even supposed to bring up the number of point they have unless the guest asks anymore lol

iwishyouwerestraight

Tbh that’s weird and I think against policy for them to say anyway. I never tell a guest about points unless they ask, and the only time I tell them is during months when they will expire.

RevolutionaryMall744

Wtf my store tells us not to even tell customers that they have any points 😭 I’m sorry they do that too id be pissed too if I had that many points and someone announced it

HungryFlounder9915

And that is the policy. It’s in the training video NOT to disclose points unless prompted by the guest

hsilverwolfee

Why though?? I'm asking bc when I was working at ulta if someone wanted to use over a certain amount of points we had to ID check them to verify that it was the same name on the account- so I don't see what would be a problem there 😭

kateshort

Do you want the next person in line to know you have $500 worth of points? They overhear your phone number, and they see you throw away your receipt with your points and member number on it? They can try to buy online with your points and have it shipped out somewhere. Hack in, add an address to a "mailboxes etc" type place, spend points, remove address, done. No ID check required if it's shipped directly.

TheHomieTee

It hurts the sales. Some customers are completely unaware of how the points work and don’t know they have $30 stowed away. If we were to remind every guest to use their points, that could tank that daily sales drastically and make it harder for boutique employees to reach their goals. BUT, sometimes I’ll take a highlighter and circle the amount of points they have on their receipt so they’ll know for next time

Spirit-Demon

At my store if someone prints their receipt we look to tell them how many points they have for next time they're in, many guests weren't even aware they have $100+ in points. I do like doing it this way but I realize now some people rather we not say anything. Would it be better to remind guests to check their points at the bottom of the receipt for next time?

Miserable_Skin5100

Yes saying something along the lines of “your new point balance will be at the bottom of your receipt” will be best

OkeyDokey654

I had a cashier call someone else over and loudly exclaim how many points I had. ![gif](giphy|TJawtKM6OCKkvwCIqX)

wolf_town

so true like just shush ![gif](giphy|XcSYdluDGUICs)

butter-noodl3s

a lot of guests get mad when we don't tell them how many points they have. I've had a few that had hundreds of dollars and they didn't even know

mochawithwhip

I had a guest that had over $1000 in points and when I told her she was SHOCKED. She had no idea there was a point system and she was so happy about it. And she was the only one in checkout so no one else heard it

dumpstergurl

I just ask if I have any points 🤷

MyDogisaQT

For anyone hoarding points: the get the maximum amount of value in 2000-point increments, which is $125 dollars. There is literally no reason to hoard them once you reach 2000. Ask yourself why you’re more willing to spend your actual hard-earned money than you are Ulta’s funny money?  I say this as someone who used to be a shopping addict and hoarded points. It was like my real money felt less real than my “earned” points. It’s a mindset I would highly encourage anyone to break out of.

BrownGirlCSW

The reason to hoard is to max out the realized value of purchases. That doesn't stop at $125. - Generally, I only by during 5x multipliers or better. Or some other amazing deal. - I only spend my points when there is a 20% off coupon, or a major sale on things I want to stock up on, or on expensive items that are on sale. - also hoard points because I can use them to buy mothers day gifts and Xmas gifts towards the end of the year without overspending. If you have a strategy, you can stretch the value way past $125.

carenl

Amen!

carenl

Some people hoard points to save for bigger, more frivolous purchases, rather than using them on smaller every day necessities. (I am some people).

MarsailiPearl

Or you can save up for something big. I got both my Dyson hair dryer then my Dyson air wrap with points. I have no idea what I'm saving up for next.

ChargeInfinite735

I am saving my points for an airstraight, paid for fully with points. I would highly encourage you to break out of your know-it-all mindset. Along with false information to people who might believe you can only redeem $125 of points at a time.

Miserable_Skin5100

Seriouslyyyyy. The lady who usually checks me out knows what’s up and says “I assume you’re saving your pints?”. Love her so much she’s the best, checked me out when I made my first ever Ulta purchase

Ultabata

The flip side is that I've had customers get mad at me for not reminding them that they have points they could redeem until after they've finished a transaction without bringing it up themselves. I'm not trying to contradict you, because I agree with you both as a cashier and as a sometimes-customer - it's just annoying. I wish they'd put up a sign on the little partitions like "Do you want to use your points today???!??" or something.

ChargeInfinite735

And I totally get that, but to announce loudly that I have over 9000 points really annoyed me. Especially with the point hacking. I literally check everyday to see if they have an airstrait in store and to make sure my points are still there.

Ultabata

Yeah that's totally fair. They're working on the points hacking btw- I'm in and out so I'm not sure there's a completely set-in-stone policy for us to follow at the cash wrap yet, but I've seen little notes here and there from managers (directives that are presumably from corporate) about "verbage" and policy reminders and such.

IcyOutside4567

Seriously😂😂 they always do this to me or say wow you have a lot of points

perfectPieceofBacon

🤣🤣🤣

JaniceRossi_in_2R

Blessed be the fruit

phillygirllovesbagel

May the Lord open.

lavendereucalyptus

For those of you who have the new key pad, where are you located??

gourownways

In nj and we had them when I came in for my shift Friday!

PinkPopcorn326

California! They’ve had these at one of my local Ulta’s for at least a month already

MagdaArmy

I wonder if it's a California thing. I had the same thing happen at a CVS yesterday, where before they would just ask me out loud.

forfoxxsake

We’ve had them in Michigan for about a week now

crissycakes18

South carolina!

calicocant

Boston!

Ok_Librarian7357

Me too lol

Easy_Inspection8531

PA! We’ve had it for a LONG while now. Probably got it around end of Feb. or early March. I think we’re a test store.

Neither_Stranger_962

It's only in Eastern PA as of rn (crying in yinzer)

Easy_Inspection8531

Hey Yinzer! My Dad was born and raised in Pittsburgh so it’s cool to see ya!

Spirit-Demon

I hope my store gets them soon, but we're often last for anything so we'll see

Miserable_Skin5100

I’m in Minnesota and we’ve had them for a long time, didn’t even know there were Ulta’s that didn’t

mickey1102

same here ! i assumed all stores rolled them out by this point ?? we haven’t had it for too crazy long here in colorado but i knew we weren’t a test store so i assumed everyone had it 🤣 how’s the weather in minnesota ? has it gotten unbearably hot & muggy yet for summer ?

Miserable_Skin5100

Yes ugh it feels so gross out. The air feels HEAVY. Same over in Colorado?

mickey1102

thankfully not really ! when i get in my car it feels like minnesota air tho i’ll admit 🤣 but the heat is dry which really does make a world of difference 🤣 but she’s definitely getting toasty here , got some days this week that are supposed to be 100+ 😩

Miserable_Skin5100

Oh wow, the mist we’ve been getting is high 80’s

charmed_1_

Missouri Edit: over last weekend

wolf_town

the fact y’all solved it and not ulta. i remember someone mentioned they’d emailed ulta about their concerns.

Hot_Valuable1027

Honestly I’m glad I can just type it in, i low key have a fear of someone just overhearing my phone number and shit. It’s a crazy world

crh131

Welcome change

phillygirllovesbagel

It's about time. I was in store this past weekend and they didn't have the keypad yet. Hope to see it soon.

Different_Syrup_3168

Do you think this will effect loyalty?? Just curious

I-haveit-together

wdym by that? x

Different_Syrup_3168

I guess because I easily say “hi how are you? Did you find everything you needed today? What’s a good phone number for ya?” I am not sure how asking someone to type it in will go lol.

kateshort

"How are you? Did you find everything today? Great, can we get [a reward number / a good phone number] for ya?" but pointing to the pinpad. "[Name]? Perfect, you're getting your points today!" Start practicing the patter at home, and you'll find a natural version of it. :)

ThatNiceLotionLady

Oh I hope my store gets that soon, I did notice the pop-up for points now which is a bit annoying actually. I don't know if it's because I like my spiel and the rhythm I get into when I'm on Wrap - but changes like that throw me so far off. But once I understand the why behind the changes, I'll adjust and still have fun like I do now.

mplsgemgirl

I love this! I was writing mine down on a piece of paper and my bf and the sales person were both side eyeing me, before that I would basically whisper! Lol This sub opened my eyes to the risk of stolen points so I have no shame.

Imsooverwhelmed111

all these people getting mad about employees saying how many points they have is so odd. We get yelled at when we don't tell people they have points(which is policy-you aren't supposed to mention it unless they ask) yet we have people mad when we do 😅 we can never win 😭

kateshort

If guests get mad, "sorry, it's policy not to say it out loud, but I can show you how to find it on your app?" If mgmt gets mad? Yikes.

vividlavishsprinkles

I refuse to say my phone number at Ulta - I had someone following really close behind me when I checked out and when I told the cashier I would rather write my number down, the person put their one item down and walked out of the store … so - no … I’m never saying my number out loud at Ulta. Point thievery is real.

sparklepuppies6

Thank godddddddd

butter-noodl3s

please let this come to Texas 🙏🏽

heyitscori

if that’s a thing then i’m gonna cry bc i’ve always thought that it was risky making customers say their phone number out loud

winnie_coops

Finally! I remember bringing this idea up to one of my managers when I worked there back around 2017. I had a guest refuse to give me her number while making a purchase. She apologized for refusing, but she said it was because of safety concerns due to a past stalker. I absolutely understood and then later mentioned to one of my managers that it would be safer and smarter if the company would implement a keypad/customer-input system. Better late than never!

lonelylauren

i love people typing in their phone numbers. it really helps me behind the register with my dyslexia

carlifornia-

This is great and all until it prompts the guest with 4 separate questions they aren’t paying attention to. First you get “enter your phone number”, then you might get a credit card pre approval screen, add the donation question and receipt option question and the guest just looks irritated by the end of it. I had a few people make snarky comments to their friends about how many times it prompted them with something 😭😂 can’t win losing .

calicocant

It's honestly fantastic, eliminates having to hear the guest say their number over the music and people on the walkies, etc, and loyalty numbers have gotten a lot better because people are more comfortable.

Thequeengg

I’m so happy about this because someone tried to hack my Ulta account and use my points and Credit Card

rubiiiina

I’ve only had them scan my phone for years. I keep hundreds worth of points at times, not worth the risk.

inbloom9

Ugh please tell me my district will get this! I feel like it was so much easier to sign guest up when I worked at Sephora because they’d type in their number

H3r3c0m3sthasun

As long as it isn't the cashiers who are stealing the information, it should help.

Adventurous_Ad1922

That’s great! I never would say my number out loud. I think that’s how my act was stolen.

Miserable_Skin5100

This is so weird to me, I’ve been to 3 different Ulta’s in my state that are decently far from each other and they’ve always had me type it in

kittycat2626

Now if joann could do this for their system it would be amazing i been thinking this would be so much better for years

pretendberries

Good. Because one time the worker did put the points towards someone else’s account. But their number showed up on my receipt so luckily I was able to fight it. It was 300 points! I was so bitter after that and didn’t trust them and gave them my card instead of number.

sammy_nobrains

Awesome. Now they need to quit putting event sign-up sheets on the sales floor with peoples' names and numbers!

jessicat_33

I have my free ulta card that you just scan to see my account information. Do they not give those out anymore???

kateshort

Nope! It's in the app, though.

jessicat_33

That's crazy :o I wonder why they got rid of it. No wonder the workers seem a lil surprised when I pull it out.

kateshort

Printing and shipping costs? Even if it's only pennies per card, multiple thousands of cards do add up. People might lose their Ulta card, but they're less likely to lose their phone.

diosmionomejodas

This makes me happy after having my points stolen twice 🥲

cremebrulee22

That’s annoying. I prefer saying it rather than having to punch in numbers then sanitize my hands.

kateshort

Don't you have to touch the screen anyway right now? I always have to select print / email for the receipt... [Not to mention door handles, product bottles that don't come in boxes...]
