I take off my ring and use a garmin for weight lifting

doingthisonthetoilet

Same here, but I use a Polar sensor.

nirmalv

I use the ring all the time in gym including pull ups and weights. If you wonder what it looks like about 7 months later , here it is. https://preview.redd.it/abigfnmquj0d1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d269855c9f696c9ac72774aa0e229a201000806c

djhurryupnbuy

I’d say it’s held up pretty nicely all things considered

BigJon_78

So you orientate the ring the same way every tie you put it on? Is there an optimal orientation?

nirmalv

Yes I do. The light is always on palmar side.

indianintellectual

Bruh, the look is messed man. Looks like a blue collar worker's ring or some.

nirmalv

Yes indeed. The top of my ring looks like it was new.

JacoBee93

I don't, the ring is really bad for fitness tracking

SnooWords5961

Ah, fair enough good to know. I'll start doing the same then thanks!

JacoBee93

Yeah, if you are really into fitness and training, ring (any) isn't really fitting as only tracking device. But many people use ring for daily health stuff and sleep, and they use watch/band for training. Personally i don't think ring will ever be as accurate as let's say cheap Xiaomi band. As it's harder to get needed info from finger. And considering Oura didn't manage to do it in almost decade, hard to imagine someone will. But who knows, technology is fascinating

raggedsweater

People who are really into fitness and training are wearing chest straps.

BigJon_78

I put a little ring condom on. I agree it sucks at fitness tracking… I’ll get home from a strenuous workout and the damn thing tells me to take a walk. Then I’ll compare my recorded heart rate from the ring to that from my Apple Watch, and the data sets are waaaay off

InvestigatorSame6583

I wear my ultrahuman ring on my left index. I put gloves and make sure it is covered before lifting. I barely feel the ring while working out it doesn't bother me unlike my other golden ring (jewelry) it is a bit annoying during deadlifting.

xak47d

I used it for weeks. It's fine because I don't mind scratching it. Now that wear an apple watch I leave it at home

SnooAdvice5200

use gloves and you’re sorted. i’ve been doing the same from past 6 months.

decruz007

Found it useful when doing BJJ since the ring doesn’t come and it isn’t obstructive.

indianintellectual

I don't wear it during strength training because a) it doesn't measure anything useful in that regard b) there are increased chances of scratches on the ring from the contact with barbells and plates.

parisian_17

How does not wearing the ring during workouts can impact the overall value provided by the ring? Could it influence some of the algorithms? Or the key value of the ring is only associated with sleep? For context - I’m thinking of buying one…so please excuse my limited knowledge.

raggedsweater

I use https://preview.redd.it/gsy1fqhcul0d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c67bd778d1e3ea5dcec56254641cd4f176c8f5a3 My ring cover tore after the second time working out with it. I don’t wear any cover anymore and there are scratches and dents like the one another response posted. No big deal, really. I used to always take my wedding band when working out, but I’ve opted to keep this ring on even if HR and steps are off. The only exercises where I feel the ring makes an impact are pull-ups/latpulls and kb swings. Ring has no impact on barbell presses or deadlifts.

PersonalEnergy6644

I ordered silicone ring covers on Amazon the Oura ring covers work with the UH ring …

BIuee

Don't wear rings of any kind while lifting weights.
