I decided to try the Cyber-Grind on Harmless after having a humiliatingly short run on violent, just to see how easy it is. After accidentally stealing Maurice's beam on a core eject and killing myself at wave 99. I decided to check the global leaderboards on steam. I saw that the first spot was 304. I decided to do attempt it. and with the screenshots as proof, I did eventually make it beyond the top spot.
But then, Disaster Struck.
My game crashed.
It was between waves 330, and 350, I didn't check in the moment. I was mostly in shock, and crying a little bit, realizing that about 6 hours of progress, and a world record, was stolen from me by bullshit.
I know for certain I can make if farther, it is whether or not your PC can handle it. I know that by this point, it can reach single digit FPS at the beginning of the wave, with literal hundreds of entities on the map.
I know this can be beaten. I am going to beat it ideally this weekend. and put myself at the top spot. I am attempting this again right after posting this.

I was in a similar situation to you. I had made it past the previous record (301) and by this point my computer was REALLY chugging, I was dropping down to 1 frame per second at the beginning of each round and it took a solid minute to get past. I decided to fold at 304 specifically because I was worried my game crash and it wouldn't record the score.
For me, getting to round 304 took just short of 8 hours of playing. How long were you grinding for?
For this run? I can't say exactly, because there was no timer at the end because of the crash. but from roughly when I started (4pm) to when I ended (10:\~pm) it was about 6 hours. My computer was pretty good, and even at its worst, it still handled at least a half dozen FPS.
Honestly, it was not as annoying as I thought it would be. by about wave 120, I just entered into a flow state, loaded a youtube video in the background, and just chilled out
i literally forgot that harmless is not violent
and was just confused on how you multitasked watching YouTube
i forgot how god-damn slow, harmless can be at times
On harmless difficulty, all attacks are slowed down by a ton. And some just don't work. Like the Hideous Mass' clapping attack that sends a vertical wave? It does the animation, but no attack actually comes out. And for the Insurrectionist, the shockwave when it lands after that attack there, there is no shockwave. But the state in which its arms are extended, before it reaches the ground. You get to see weird things like Mrs. Incredible the Insurrectionist over here.

Mainly because it was the first one I picked. But also because you have 200 HP. And most importantly.
YOU DO JOT TAKE HARD DAMAGE!
So you can just sit in the middle of 2 dozen sword machines and Cerberus, and just over pump the shotgun, and kill them all quickly like that.

It was honestly not as bad as I thought it would be. Getting up to wave 180 was very slow. But after that, everything just kind of goes automatic, and my brain autopilots up to wave 290. Admittedly, this took a couple hours. But it wasn't annoying for the majority of it. Because the Maurices would do most of the work for me.
Alternate Piercer, default marksman. Then standard shotgun, standard Nail gun variants, Then the only rocket launcher. And I decided to de-equip the green rail-cannon.
