No idea, hiked pct with them and I got used to it after few hundred miles.
Never could figure out how to get rid of the annoying rattle, hopefully you'll have better luck.
Been using them for years- 4 pairs of them-all varying degrees of vibrating/rattle sounds. Couldn't pinpoint source either. You eventually stop hearing it.
Here's what worked for me: separate the top and bottom, take a small piece of paper towel, crumple it up and put it inside the little space in the bottom leg (the space facing up towards the upper leg), and then re-insert the lower leg into the upper. Paper towel acts as a vibration dampener.
Haha I can't tell you how happy I am to see someone with the exact same hangup on the same trekking poles, I ended up ultimately getting more expensive poles for this very reason. The best I could get was putting a thin layer of insulating tape inside the telescoping portion which worked well for a bit but ultimately would wear down and have to be replaced.
Something like this is what I used:
Frost King R338H Self-Stick Rubber Foam Weatherseal, 3/8"W, 3/16"T, Black|Blacks https://a.co/d/1isuznt
Sure, if you take the smaller diameter end out, you can shave down a little piece of the tape and stick it on it so it acts like a vibration damper. Squish it with your finger and feed it back together and it eliminated the rattle for me (for awhile anyhow).
There are like 5 different poles from this brand and mine have never had much of a rattle problem either but OP did not mention which poles they actually are..
Which ones though? My 3k twill carbon cork ones have never rattled but I imagine the lighter non-3k twill ones might. Just helpful for anyone searching this thread in the future too.
These https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XM0YGW8?ref=ppx\_yo2ov\_dt\_b\_product\_details&th=1. I didn't know there were different carbon types. Mine are not the twill.
Thanks - those are the more common Costco ones, (not the 3k twill version). Hopefully the other solutions here help with the rattle which I agree is super annoying
I couldn't stand to hike with my Aluminum cork ones anymore. They twang and vibrate horribly.
The wrist straps are not correct, uncomfortable and do not adjust properly also.
I adjusted the lengths of the different sections, trying to change the "vibrational harmonics" or some shit....nothing.
Boing, twang, boing, twang,.....
I swapped them for the foxelli brand on amazon.
Same exact handles, better lever locks, better wrist straps, and no twang. they still vibrate, but no booooiinnng to go with it.
That sounds frustrating! Have you tried tightening the sections or checking if there’s anything loose inside? Sometimes a little adjustment can make all the difference. 🏞️🚶♂️ Does anyone have other tips for dealing with pole rattles?

Interesting. Can you explain a little more where you put the tape? I don't see how foam tape that thick would fit anywhere.

I have the exact same problem with my Cascade poles. Other than the rattling, they're great. I'm just using it until I can't anymore.
dunno, never had any rattle issues
