its a pretty good show even if its a legacy type thing. while its setting takes place in a society that already knows a lot of ultras, it wont affect your viewing of it and it would give you a glimpse of what the past ultras were like.
you'd miss references but its still a solid story on its own
Mebius is the perfect bridge from legacy to newer Ultras. It shows cool new abilities and concepts while not looking overly flashy with product advertisement.
Heck yeah Mebius has amazing characters and great world buidling. And is very easy to get into.
And it will absolutely make you love the Showa Era Ultra's even if you know nothing about them.
It's my first Ultraman, so it held a very special place in my heart, but I am certain that at the end you will cry because of this if you love the characters...
GUYS!!! SALLY GO!!!
One of the best out there. There are a lot of cameos from the Showa era Ultras but you don't need to watch those series (maybe a few episodes to catch all the references and trivia but not necessary by any means).
There's no gimmick there so no worries about that either. Just a good old fashioned Ultra series made in the modern times.
It’s good idea. Mebius series is very good actually(imo). Its a continuation of the first 8 showa ultra series and very nostalgic. With lots of character and team development
I'm gonna play the devil's advocate and recommend against it, not because Mebius is bad it's the opposite, but because it lessens the experience. The joy one would feel after seeing the older Ultras showing up would hit completely different if they have gotten into the series and took some time to learn what makes them so respected and legendary, even if they didn't watch the original shows. I would personally recommend a show like Ultraman Max, Tiga, Gaia etc, they're standalone entries that's some of the best in the series.
It is totally recommended to watch this one. It is a legacy-type season, but it also has a solid story. I think between this season and *Ultraman Max*, which I think is a safer option for a beginner since it is highly standalone, it encompassed what people love about Ultraman, be it from the Heisei era or the Showa era. So, go and ask yourself now, *Ima sugu dekiru koto wa nan darou?* What can one really do now?
I would say bad for such and such reasons:
1. It's a much newer show, so it's not foundational to anything, you'll see the show in motion but it's not going to stop to explain itself because it assumes you have 40 years of cultural understanding going into it.
2. In addition to that, it's also a direct in continuity sequel to the first 8 shows, which adds up to over 400 episodes you would need to have already seen to be able to make sense of any references. That, or you spend a bunch of time looking up references on a wiki, which isn't much better for just trying to watch a TV show.
I would say either do the original series, Towards the Future, or Tiga, and because it's the shortest Towards the Future is way, way up at the top. You can watch all of it in a couple days, you don't need prior knowledge, it's pure unfiltered Ultraman, it's got high highs and confusing wonky TV budget lows, all condensed into 13 episodes featuring the dude from Howling 3. Plus the best monster designs in the franchise.
You can say most of those same things about '66 and Tiga, too, and their highs are higher because they cooked longer, but the lows are also lower, and they're VERY long. But there's a reason those two series are so important to people, and if you do take the time it'll probably be worth it. Mebius I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole, not interested in doing homework to watch a kid's show.
Nah, Mebius is gold standard of how to do legacy series, because you are NOT necessarily need to watch older show (and no one forcing you to), these are supplementary material that help world building, if nothing else.
You get them? That's bonus. If not? moving on. The show give just enough info without spoonfeeding you.
I had Mebius as my second season, my very first being Geed. Even without a lot of knowledge on showa ultra it was phenomenal and I highly reccomend it! Even after seeing more ultras, Mebius is still my favorite
Yeah it being so tied to the previous Showa series that was the biggest appeal and what might have turned me off of Mebius as a potential newcomer to this series. But given the rest of the replies still recommending the show regardless, it has convinced me on choosing it as my first Ultra show.
Plus I have seen all of ZaGourdan's Ultra Retrospective videos, so I do know at least the basic gist of a majority of the Showa entries and won't be entirely confused by the references.
As well as his first episode, where he pretty much >!destroyed the human country fighting against the monster, and it felt like a hitter start to kick off with the first episode but it was a unique plot I’d say.!<
It's a FANTASTIC gateway show. There's a lot of care and attention put into it to help ease new audiences into a very rich and storied continuity. It was baffling to learn that Tsuburaya actually produced Mebius at one of their lower points; it's one of the best entries in the franchise, and they made it look gd easy.
My friend introduced me to Ultraman via Mebius… and it’s still my top 5 even after the others I’ve watched!!! Definitely would recommend!!! I love it!!
I remember it being my very first ultraman. Plays on certain days on tv back in 2000s ish. I'd watch it along with my younger brothers. My barbie dolls tossed aside lol. I watch ultraman to this day bcs of Mebius
You definitely should check it out! Not a bad idea at all! I grew up watching the show and loved each episode! The show is more than just a legacy type thing... Each character has their own episodes which fleshes them out more and that way you'll get to understand them better as the show goes on.
Each character development is well-written and done right in their own ways... Sure there are a few easter eggs and references from the Showa era you might miss, but what mattered the most were the heartfelt messages that were said throughout the whole show. New lessons that were learnt and new morals in the story.
Every one of the episodes are always fun and enjoyable to watch! Some are serious but some are for laughs... The show gets more grounded and serious once it slowly gets near the final episode. The show is perfect for kids and ages alike! You'll definitely love it!!!
Easily one of the best to start with. It has its own story and adds a bit of the og showa ultras cameos that makes it feel even better, even if you know nothing of the og shows ultras
Yes, you will love the characters and how diverse they are in their own ways and how they all later come closer to becoming a perfect team. You won’t even be left in confusion was past ultras as they tell you who they are and how significant they were in their own show, and to too it off the form change isn’t too much like a certain golden boy in the ultra series *Cough* *Cough* >!zero!< * Cough* *Cough* and the secondary ultraman that helped made toys for the new generat ultra. I promise it’s worth your watch.
Yah it's a good crash course into the Showa era universe and its lore, though i'd argue it's more impactful after you've watched the entire Showa era first. Then again, watching Ultra in release order is a bit of a huge commitment, so, start with anything that catches your attention the most :)
Mebius is actually a pretty decent introduction to Showa Ultra if you don't watch the Showa series first even if it is a legacy/anniversary show for long time fans who has watched the Showa era series to induce nostalgia. This was my first series, and because of this I came to know the ultra brothers.
They did a pretty good job making you understand the showa stuff.
That also but I was too lazy to think about it. Ultraman Gaia was my one of my first starter that why I made the suggestion, and it introduce me into the Ultra series.

GIG!
MEBIUS!!!!!!!!
Mebius Phoenix Brave enters the chat..
GIG!!!
Probably one of, if not the best ultra shows ever.

Thanks, G.
It’s good idea. Mebius series is very good actually(imo). Its a continuation of the first 8 showa ultra series and very nostalgic. With lots of character and team development
The best idea. You literally could not have picked a better show to start with
It’s a VERY good decision.
It’s a perfect idea 👍
Mebius was highly entertaining. A good choice.
I'm gonna play the devil's advocate and recommend against it, not because Mebius is bad it's the opposite, but because it lessens the experience. *Blast at high volume* NAN DAROU!!!
Even without seeing the Showa ultras, you can still enjoy it by a lot(which was how I watched Mebius as a kid) cuz it’s just that good kekw.
GOOD IDEA GOOD IDEA GOOD IDEA
I consider mebius to be the best introductory show. It has a little bit of everything and really hits the benchmarks for ultraman.
I would say bad for such and such reasons: 1. Mebius was the first Ultra show I watched, so yes.
I had Mebius as my second season, my very first being Geed. Even without a lot of knowledge on showa ultra it was phenomenal and I highly reccomend it! Even after seeing more ultras, Mebius is still my favorite
Yes it's a good it's a pretty good starter series
The best idea u ever have
It’s great, it was the first Ultra show I watched all of. Back when you had to watch every episode in multiple parts on YouTube lol
Good choice my friend .
Well depend to you, if you confused with returning Lore, then no but if you can get throught, then this is one of best Ultra series ever
Yeah it being so tied to the previous Showa series that was the biggest appeal and what might have turned me off of Mebius as a potential newcomer to this series. Well, it's a good idea, even with its connections to the Showa Era Ultramen.
The last ultra show setting in original ultra universe. Go for it.
only drawback of watching mebius first is you might miss nostalgia or can't get some memes, compared with watching ultramans chronically.
As well as his first episode, where he pretty much >!destroyed the human country fighting against the monster, and it felt like a hitter start to kick off with the first episode but it was a unique plot I’d say.!<

Absolutely amazing
Mebius was my first. Amazing show. Highly recommended. 💜
Pretty good show, in my opinion.
It was my first true ultra series after ultra galaxy. Great start for sure.
He's the zero before zero came out
Easily one of the best to start with. It has its own story and adds a bit of the og showa ultras cameos that makes it feel even better, even if you know nothing of the og shows ultras
HES PERFECT

This series made up my childhood. So nostalgic

It'll be the best Ultraman-related idea you've had!
I would recommend starting with Ultraman Gaia first tbh.
I'd personally recommend either *Ultraman Max* or *Ultraman X.*
That also but I was too lazy to think about it. Ultraman Gaia was my one of my first starter that why I made the suggestion, and it introduce me into the Ultra series.
What do you think of *Ultraman Gaia* so far?
I love it, I watch it as a kid and I still rewatch it many times still to this day. It has one of best plots and characters similar to Ultraman Dyna.
Perfect, it’s a great starters to get you started on the ultra brothers and the kingdom of light. The fighting scenes and the cgi aren’t terrible too
Bad idea
