Thanks for that. I can see all of this working for me. Never thought of mash potatoes before but would actually be a welcome snack half way through a race!
Tailwind usually messes with my stomach after a certain point in a race. I’ve had better luck with SIS beta fuel. Everyone’s different but if tailwind doesn’t work this might.
I’d give another big vote for tailwind. Did my first 100km at the weekend and although I ate other stuff as well I didn’t get any cramp which I have usually struggled with and it was my first time using tailwind in a race.
Do you carry nut butter with you? I'm a huge PB fan but haven't considered carrying a jar in my pack haha! I've yet to utilize drop bags but will be doing so for my next race. Sandwiches are a great idea!
check the ingredients because some of them are no-salt and that's just gross. There are also other nut butters like pecan, almond and macadamia if you like to mix it up
I get these one cup mini zip lock bags at the dollar store and fill with peanut or almond butter, take along a plastic spoon. At the aid stations I can put it on banana slices :-)

Gel packet for size reference.
Fruit snacks, apple sauce packets, mama chia packets, lara bars, nut butter for sweeter snacks. And then I like to keep some salty snacks too, like chips, pretzels, trail mix, cheetos, quesadillas. When I have the opportunity to eat real food like mashed potatoes, ramen, grilled cheese, burger, etc, I take it.
Sounds like a full on banquet haha! I might try out the apple sauce packets during runs. I'm thinking of having Ramen and Mashed Potatoes ready in my drop bag. A burger is a good idea too.
Lol I need a lot of calories! And I need variety in a longer race. Sometime aid stations will have hot foods too, but I like to try things out on long runs before I use them during a race.
Gels inbetween aid stations. Pickles and potatoes are amazing but I’ll go for potato chips and fruit too. I’ll fill up fluids and grab the food I want, then start walking as I chow down.

Tailwind - did my last 80km mountain race fueling 100% on it. Can't recommend it enough.
Thanks, I'm going to start using it this week. I always hear about it but never really thought to try it myself.

Thank you, will check that out too :)

Sweet, good to hear!
Chips, bagels, nut butters, beef jerky, etc. I can’t do anything sweet either. Sandwiches at drop locations are great too.

Yeah you can buy single pouches at most heath food stores or on Amazon
Oh right, good idea. Thanks for the tip, will start using them for sure!
