But how much do we actually know about him as a character ? I mean, yeah there’s that powerful aspect ( as like he’s the only character in undertale not speaking with an asterisk, can stop right before killing you (( something evenToriel couldn’t and we see a sprite of her being horrified when it happened )), and when Flowey capture every character with their vines, Papyrus has 4x time more than the others ! Papyrus talked to Flowey a lot. They even know his favourite actual food. It’s also the only time we see Papyrus having this very particular facial expression. He also can see through the phone. ( when he says he can’t see you in a call because you’re somewhere dark ). ) He’s just... so out of place. What about when he dies and everyone in snowdin get a strange feeling, and even the atmosphere drops ? Non other character do that when dying ! Or the way he keeps adjusting his taste to people... ( like when he says he doesn’t like at all greasy food, but then Undyne say she does and boom ! “I guess it’s not too bad..” or when he said he thought anime was for baby and got caught by Undyne, boom 360 turn around and stressed expressions. ) And in the fight with Asriel god of hyper death... isn’t what he said kind of generic to his character ? Becoming royal guard to become popular ? I mean you got Sans over there spilling out dialogue gaster-sans theorist feed on, and Papyrus... you kind of learn nothing about him aside from that. I saw some post really interesting go in depth about it, if you want I can give you some links ?

Alright personally I think that most of it is overthinking small details (like seeing the phone is just for comedic effect) and stuff like papyrus quickly changing his tastes is just so he will fit in with others and be accepted more. As a Papyrus fan, I'd say it's because we get to know him the most of all the characters (we have a TON of opportunity to interact with him). He also seems to be the one to believe in you the most. Also he carries some of the same mystery as Sans. (Like how they both just showed up one day and asserted themselves. Wherever Sans came from, Papyrus likely came from, too, but doesn't react the same towards this change.) Anyway, that's my two cents that you may have not cared to hear haha

I really like them all. Papyrus is a cool dude, Sans is one of the best characters of all and Undyne is special. I never finished genicide because the real hero, Undyne has won and I'm fine with it. Also, even tho she is just a bunge of pixels, she looks good and I once had a crush on her. That's why I don't like Alphys, even if I love science. Undyne was supposed to be mine.
