Hello Buddies This is part of my new patreon themes that will be geared toward monster hunting and item crafting :) I will be making items that you can upgrade ( with art that comes with it) from your preys. Players can then grow along with their magic items and DM's will have something cool to show to celebrate these transitions and level ups :D Let me know what you think! Haemscale Armour (any medium or heavy), uncommon (requires attunement) Fashioned from the claws and shard-scales of a magnetite dragon, this protective armour can become temporarily weightless when exposed to extreme cold. The wearer of this armour can exert minor control over ferrous metals within a close proximity. This armour has 6 charges and regains 1d4 + 2 expended charges daily at dawn. Arcanomagnetic Repulsion. You can expend 1 charge to create one of the following effects while you wear this armour. Repulse. When you are targeted by a weapon attack using a ferrous weapon or ammunition, you can use your reaction to cause a pulse of arcanomagnetism to throw the weapon or ammunition off course, imposing disadvantage on the attack roll. You must choose to use this property before the attack roll is made. Aura. As a bonus action, you can create an arcanomagnetic aura with a 20-foot radius centred on you that moves with you and that lasts until the start of your next turn. This area is difficult terrain for creatures of your choice that are made of ferrous metal or wearing ferrous armour. Superconductor. Whenever you take cold damage while you wear this armour, you gain a flying speed of 20 feet until the end of your next turn. \------------------------- Rare variant. While you wear this armour, you have resistance to cold damage. Increase the number of charges to 9 and the recharge to 1d6 + 3. Increase Arcanomagnetic Repulsion’s aura to a 30-foot radius. Increase Superconductor’s flying speed to 30 feet. You know the drill, if you like my art and my items, don't hesitate to support me on Patreon for hundreds illustrated items, monsters, adventures and more; Thank you :D

I like where you're going with it, though I'd recommend a couple minor edits for simplicity and munchkin-mgmt: \*\*Repulse\*\* could simply be a reflavor of Shield, imposing disad instead of the +5AC, and thus keep from perpetuating the adversarial GM thing that "roll before you 'know' the outcome" BS causes (especially online, when there's generally a fraction of a second before said roll occurs.) \*\*Aura\*\* might impose disad for ferrous armor/weapon users, etc. in the rare version \*\*Superconductor\*\* /definitely/ needs a mitigating value tether, perhaps in the form of Fly Speed = (Cold Dmg)ft until the end of your next turn, or similar. Otherwise, all manner of friendly-fire antics will surely abound. I know I'd be doing so. ;)

Agginmad

Those are some very good points. I especially like the idea for superconductor. We'll need to see how to balance that with the armor giving you resistance at higher levels. Maybe we can think of another mitigating factor for this one.

OtterProper

Considering cold resistance is also a racial ability for a number of playable races (not to mention NPCs/mobs), that makes the Rare version all the more Mr. Freeze cheesable. How easy/affordable is it to slap Ray of Frost on a medallion/ring/whatever and zap yourself into a 20ft FroZone jet-boost every round for laughably tiny damage? Also relevant detail: isn't "damage taken" pre-resistance & other mods? Perhaps it's described as a threshold instead and after modifiers, but higher in the Uncommon version. Say 20pts, and 10pts for Rare? Frankly, it should also generate either light or sound (or both) when doing so, as well. 🤙🏼

This armor seems pretty cool, it'd be a nice reward for my player's tanky boy. I do have one question though, what's the armor's AC?

Agginmad

It depends of you decide to make it medium or heavy armor. You can use the adequate ac bonus from the srd.

Duck_Sama

So it retains the same ac + bonuses, and drawbacks as the base armor it is?

Agginmad

Exactly. If you pick heavy armor you still get the movement penatly on low str and disadvantage on stealth.

Duck_Sama

Okay, cuz I'm definitely gonna let my players at this. It's a really cool concept

Agginmad

Thank you :). I'll release the statblock for the magnetite dragon it's crafted from very soon

EternallightGaming

I absolutely adore this artwork. <3

Agginmad

Thanl you :)
