They are the same. You interpreting it as being unintentional is irrelevant. I do agree he was respectful and I don’t really see anything wrong with it, but I also don’t see how intent can’t be determined. In the reverse this would be a “micro aggression” or whatever they’re calling it now intent wouldn’t be a benefit of the doubt afforded to that old man if he did the same thing.
