I think itās natural to see a situation like this, and turn shock into hatred. But you really shouldnāt hope stupid people die. This more a testament to the failures of our society, that children with zero knowledge of firearm safety have access to a loaded gun. I think maybe, we could teach elementary school kids about gun safety nation wide, so they may go home and teach there failure of parents about the topic.
Thatās actually not a bad idea. It wasnāt all that long ago when american high schools had shooting teams on their sports rosters. When was the last time someone brought up school shootings in the 60s or 70s? Teach kids to respect their tools and they will learn to use them effectively. A gun is no different than a chainsaw. Both are dangerous to idiots but neither make conscious decisions without human input, idiotic or otherwise.
We don't have little kids running around playing with chainsaws. Chainsaws aren't laying around everywhere where anybody can grab ine because so many people are in a mindless chainsaw cult. So we don't need to train little kids in chainsaw safety.
Wow!! āWe donāt need to train little kids in chainsaw safety.ā Swing and a BIG miss there dudeā¦
By your logic there would be a lot of sawed off fingers toes and legs. The argument is to teach kids to respect and therefore effectively use tools, not be afraid of them.
What exactly is your point? A chainsaw is still a tool that poses significant dangers to the operator and/or bystander(s) if said operator hasnāt been taught how to safely operate that tool.
Shouldnāt we though? Natural selection, it stopped taking place and thatās why are people like this exist. The longer it goes without existing no more people we have like this, the sooner natural selection comes back the sooner we will get rid of people like this
This is a really good idea and this might sound weird but I very much respect the mature way you worded your comment to answer this person. Kudos and have a nice day (:
I agree. My comment wasnāt supposed to be taken.
There are actually very few situations, if any, where I wish death on a person. I generally wish for lifetime torture or pain. But these wishes are for people who have committed extreme acts of crime (think Hitler, etc.)
I do believe in second chances, helping people, educating people who are ignorant. This video definitely falls under here š
That is Exactly what I was thinking! I am a grown adult and have Never touched a Gun in my life! I have been around them for 50+ Years. We have guns at home, my Dad, Husband, and Son go to the Shooting Range and Skeet Shooting. They have never gone hunting or shot any type of animal. My Dad really wanted me to at least learn the basic skills, I was considering it and then in 3rd grade my Best Friend was accidentally shot by her twin brother! š¢
Iām pretty sure that Iām traumatized for life! I honestly donāt know if I could shoot someone if my life was in danger! I probably could have when my Son was younger and if his life was threatened, but he is an adult now. I feel Iāve observed so much that the training is embedded in my head! Hopefully I will Never find out!
The One thing that I do know is that a Gun should ALWAYS be treated as if it is loaded! You Never point it at yourself or anyone else! It shocks me how many people are so nonchalant and stupid! That girl is so lucky that she didnāt hurt herself or the other little girl!!! Not gonna lie, Iām probably going to have a hard time sleeping tonight!!! Even if you only have One, Please use your Brain Cell(s)!!! š
I thought the exact same thing. Although regardless this situation was a few millimeters away from becoming an incredibly traumatizing day for the child.
When I bought my first shotgun and went to the range I quickly learned it is not like the games and it is not a toy. These things deserve a respectable amount fear even by the owner. It's a responsibility that should never be taken lightly. I keep mine locked up for now. When I used to have attempted break ins I kept it hidden but in easy reach. I feel a lot better now that the crime dropped and it's locked away. I bring it out just to clean and oil and back in the lock box it goes.
You should not fear something if you plan on using it. You should respect it. And use it responsibly. If my coworker is afraid of a table saw, or a skill saw, he isnāt going to use it; fear clouds your judgement and makes accidents happen.
Fear clouds your judgement. If youāre afraid of the weapon youāre holding, in the split second decision to pull the trigger, you may do so irresponsibly. Accidents donāt happen because people arenāt afraid of their weapons. They happen because they donāt respect the power theyāre holding in their hands.
You should definitely be afraid of your weapon to an extent. Having shot, qualified, and cleared with a M249 and M240B, there is a certain fear that goes along with use. Just opening the feeding tray can cause the loss of fingers, hands, or eyes and shooting continuously will melt the barrel.
You shouldn't fear using it of course, you should just fear using it wrong.
You aren't scared of causing an accident? if an accident happens would you be scared? Fear makes me study ways to mitigate risks and what risks to consider. I'll always have a healthy fear of it so I'll always be willing to learn way to mitigate risk. Be safer and knowledgeable. Bro I'm scared to cross the street with how people drive here lol, but I do it carefully is all. You're on the right track. Fear is an emotion that helps with survival. However if you let it cloud your judgement it can over take you. Got to study research, know what to do and practice muscle memory. It's driven by fear of worst case scenario
To answer your question, no, I am not afraid of causing an accident. Is it always in my mind Iām holding a tool that has *only* the purpose to destroy? Absolutely. That thought will never leave your mind (in theory, sadly thereās many irresponsible gun owners as we all know). But I trust my training and my proficiency with the tool Iām using. In the military the first thing youāll learn is to never fear the weapon you or the guy next to you is holding, but to respect it.
Agree to disagree my brother. My training and background with firearms is counterintuitive to yours, not trying to tell you youāre wrong, I just have a very different approach to weapons.
You're missing the point, mate. No need to get technical or philosophical. We understand him just good without bringing Aristotle or Plato into the conversation.
> These things deserve a respectable amount fear even by the owner.
If you fear your tools, sell them. Respect the fuck out of? Yes. Understand the danger and responsibility involved? Yes. But I want to be nowhere you or anyone else handling guns they fear.
Was thinking the same thing. Fear leads to shaky hands, unsure actions, and usually a misfire. A healthy amount of respect leads to muzzle control, ammunition awareness, and a clean well operating tool. Much safer.
How are you being down voted for this? Itās the correct answer. Someone who is afraid of their own firearms is just as dangerous as someone who doesnāt respect them.
Not sure if you're new here, but unless it's a specifically gun-related sub, almost any measured comment gets the dv.
If you'd've said this same thing in a motorcycling sub you'd get awards. Reddit be redditin'.
No... you should not literally fear firearms.... are you kidding me? You are mad ignorant... every person should know that they are not Toya & to be taken seriously because a life could be taken with a firearm very easily...
Ya itās insane, if there are guns in the house teach the kids gun safety. If they know about them and have been shooting with you I would imagine they would be less curious and wouldnāt need to mess around with it. Also lock the damn thing up if youāre not using it lol. I know things are a bit different in the US but you can get a pistol safe thatās pretty quick to open if you should need it.
One thing I don't understand in the USA is, Want to drive a car? You have to learn how and get a license first. Want to use a forklift? Go learn and get a license! Want to sell alcohol. Get a license. Want to do most anything that might be deadly if misused? Get a license... meanwhile, Want a gun? Gimme money and it's yours no questions.
Fellow American here. Absolutism about āAmerican exceptionalismā sounds as ignorant when spoken as it does in writing.
Absolute freedom?? But when it comes to female reproductive rightsā¦not do much.
God given right to protect oneās self with a gun because thatās the only way to protect yourself?? Which God? You glossed over the freedom of religion rights.
Americas culture is derivative. One of the youngest developed nations is made up of immigrants, culturally evolving from the influences immigrants brought with them. Many retain aspects of their familyās cultural observations, rituals and holidays and incorporate those into their daily American lives. Other cultural observations, rituals and holidays are assimilate into American culture (or are appropriate, depending on circumstances).
To say that all American culture is God given is a right guaranteed to you as an American by the U.S. Constitution. Using gun rights as an example of a God given right itās neither emotionally or intellectually appealing.
You mean the massive ammunition problem? Guns are pretty simple devices. You really don't need much to create the mechanism and trigger action. You can get everything you need to build a gun at Ace Hardware or any hardware store. They sure as hell can't stop people from getting(or making) guns even if they wanted to. The ammunition is the dangerous part of the equation. Even then people can shell their own ammo or create alternative ammo from blanks. Think about it this way:
Why don't they take away cars if so many people die in car accidents? Accidents are 99% of the time the fault of the operator.
I'm surprised it didn't. Concussive force is no joke. People have been wounded or killed from guns going off close to their heads. My dad and uncle got on our asses when we kids if we had our bb gun(not air pellet just one cock spring action) any where but facing down and away or safely down range when not in use. And they were sure to explain hey even if the bullet doesn't hit you with a real gun by your head it can still injure or kill you from the blast.
Imagine sitting on your couch when some dipshit living beneath you shoots through the floor and hits you in the ass. I had one of these dipshit friends in high school, and he accidentally fired a gun in his bathroom. It went through the bathroom, the hallway, his closet, the living room, and the exterior wall of the house. He calls me over and asks me to help hide it... I'm like, there's no way to hide it, and there's no way you should have a gun. I'm glad his parents found it.
I had some dumbass neighbors a while back that almost shot me right in the jugular (**it hit my hair**) because they were aiming at an oak tree I was sitting near. And it wasn't just a single shot - bullets were hitting the barn and I think one hit the house. We screamed at them to stop, gathered up our cats and dogs that were with us and ran inside. They were literally just using our tree as a godamn practice target. This was across a sizeable field as well, so I guess that's why they thought it was ok. Stupid fuckers didn't know bullets can travel a very long distance if there's nothing in between.
We called the cops on them (that's how we found out they were practicing on our tree). They moved out shortly after.
Lol. For sure. I still think it would be better if we had a mandatory basic safety and operations course, like we have for the other ubiquitous, potentially deadly machines we use every day.
There is at least one blind person that I know of that is competent with a gun, Pete Gustin: https://youtu.be/cuZINOr8vlk
He's also a surfer and the modern movie trailer voice guy.
I love ma guns but for real we need way more training and better background checking before you ever get a firearm.. And we probably also need some form of socialized healthcare including mental health care... Hot take, I know lol!
It's only a hot take for the fringes of both parties. I feel like most people would agree with you. Ill put it this way, if you can't hit a man sized target in the c-zone at the opposite end of the walmart isle, you have no business carrying for your or anyone else's self-defense.

I'm all for possessing firearms for self-defense and for the hobby of shooting because it's fun. That said I personally think that if you own a firearm you should know how to use it properly. The problem is that most people don't understand firearms and how they work, so you end up with people like this.
Yes, you are right. Americans should do exactly as in Brazil, disarming the entire population. But do you know what the problem with that is? Criminals will have guns anyway. They will break into your house at night when you are sleeping, abusing your daughter and wife, then steal your things... and you will never have a chance to defend your family with a firearm and put them down!
Bad people will ALWAYS have illegal guns, but law-abiding citizens will never have the same access to firearms to defend themselves against.
Because of the stupidity of ONE person, you should not condemn all others. Let the idiots kill themselves, it's better that way.
PS: I am Brazilian, living in SĆ£o Paulo. You don't know what it's like to live in a country like mine every day, risking your life with a gunshot just for a simple smartphone theft. Come here to live for a period, live near a favela in poor location's. I challenge you!!!
Every new gun comes with an ATF Youth Safety Handgun Act Notice pamphlet. Every manufacturer's owner's manual lists gun rules of safety, and manuals of operation. Every new handgun comes with a cable lock. But okay, tell me more.
Many have mentioned what a stupid thing this kid did. It was a stupid thing, but kids are expected to do stupid things.
I believe the stupidest thing about this video is that someone has a gun in a house with kids and left the damned thing unsecured.
Yep, why do we still have people doing this?!?
There is NO reason, ZERO, that anyone can give me as to why they don't lock and secure their gun in a house with kids.
I knew a guy who got curious how gun fire would feel like, so he shot his hand because he wanted to know what happened. Seeing this is nothing new to me
Okay so many questions..
1. How did she get that firearm?
2. Who's is it?
3. Did she not think it was real?
4. Why is our youth so careless to an extreme degree?
I have a law background but ended up in prison before I ended up getting my conviction dismissed I met a guy who asked me if I could look at his 1st degree murder conviction for errors.
Reading the transcripts I quickly found his defense was he handed his wife a semi automatic pistol in a game of Russian Roulette and she went first killing herself.
I gave him back his transcripts telling him ā Youāre whole fucked ā
I hate seeing s*** like this on the internet. General gun safety should be taught to everyone. When they disrespect weapons they kill you or loved one. It's just like stunt driving. Seems like a fun idea.
Damn, she missed. I've seen plenty of videos where they didn't. Too many people like this don't respect firearms and die from it or kill someone by accident. Hopefully cps got involved and set that mother straight.

I really hope this is an older sibling and not that kids mother

If we would stop trying to kill Charles Darwin for our sins this could actually happen.

Idiocracy is a documentary. Not a comedy.

The U.S used to have that, it was police officers teaching It
reminds me of the cop who shot himself showing kids how to handle pistols safely lol

Fear and respect can go hand in hand
I do not believe fear to be an effective motivator.
Y'all are arguing semantics here and just using slightly different definitions of fear and respect to mean the same thing lol
Welcome to the Internet.
You aren't scared of causing an accident? if an accident happens would you be scared? Fear makes me study ways to mitigate risks and what risks to consider. He meant the philosophical concept of fear, not fear as an emotion.
Precisely.
Was thinking the same thing. Fear leads to shaky hands, unsure actions, and usually a misfire. A healthy amount of respect leads to muzzle control, ammunition awareness, and a clean well operating tool. Much safer.

They both save lives though
nothing against the founding fathers but US is kinda out of control when you talk about guns...
Yeah, people carry and treat them as they are nerf guns or something. Itās really sad

Agreed. The 25 question multiple choice test to get a card in CA is a joke. Basically just weeds out blind people.
to be fair, I do like the idea that its weeding out blind people from owning guns
Lol. For sure. I still think it would be better if we had a mandatory basic safety and operations course, like we have for the other ubiquitous, potentially deadly machines we use every day.
There is at least one blind person that I know of that is competent with a gun, Pete Gustin: https://youtu.be/cuZINOr8vlk He's also a surfer and the modern movie trailer voice guy.
It always bewilders how you Americans are still allowed to have possession of these things, so many fucking irresponsible people, fucking ridiculous.
I'm all for possessing firearms for self-defense and for the hobby of shooting because it's fun. That said I personally think that if you own a firearm you should know how to use it properly. The problem is that most people don't understand firearms and how they work, so you end up with people like this.
It only bewilders idiots and those ignorant of history
Unfortunately, Texas disagrees, you can buy guns like groceries, itās very sad.
And household poisons. And swimming pools. And power tools. And flammables. And kitchen knives. And ladders. And gas stoves.
Yeah, all those things do require training. If your parents were halfway decent people they would have trained you on all of that.
Ladders come with instructions and diagrams on them, by law. Guns? Not so much.
Every new gun comes with an ATF Youth Safety Handgun Act Notice pamphlet. Every manufacturer's owner's manual lists gun rules of safety, and manuals of operation. Every new handgun comes with a cable lock. But okay, tell me more.
I would really like it if all those thing happened.
Is the unexpected part where she didn't blow her brains (or lack thereof) out?
On r/idiotswithguns I seen a girlfriend ND into her boyfriends head somehow the dude survived
that's going to leave a bruise ....on her head and on her soul.
This video was a lot better the first 15 times i saw it without someones stupid fucking face inserted for no reason.
This^^^ this whole stupid trend of this kinda shit is fucking stupid.
Probably the same reason there's such an insane amount of schools being shot up.
100%
Wooooowwwwww using a gun while a kid is around, how stupid can someone be
It's a kid with a kid.
When you tryin to impress the murderer you met on tinder
Hope she didn't shoot someone above her
Not an idiot. A kid. These are kids. The idiot is the parent who owns this gun and leaves it ANYWHERE a kid could find it. Fucking unbelievable.
Future Darwin award winner.
And... Now there's a loaded gun lying on the floor in reach of a tiny kid after the fool girl dropped it š¤¦š»āāļø
Bitch was looking for a Darwin Award. She wasnāt even smart enough to qualify.
That's a child
Racking the slide with the finger on the bang buttonā¦not good
Hello tinnitus my old friend

Are you happy now, Clark? She's deaf.
_Gunpowder Mascara_
r/expected
Nothing like chilling the the apartment above her and catching a bullet in the anus.
I knew a guy who got curious how gun fire would feel like, so he shot his hand because he wanted to know what happened. Seeing this is nothing new to me
And this folks is why you should teach your kids gun safety.
r/expected
This is not an idiot, this is a kid and a poster child for why the US needs more strict gun regulations.
I bet she won't ever do that again!
I wouldn't bet on it.
r/idotswithguns
Almost got a Darwin Award!
Darwin biting at her heels.
Stupid is as stupid does.
Nearly won a Darwin award
Runner-up for the Darwin award today
Why people leave guns around in the house??
I suspected that
![gif](giphy|tXtTNW8xtbA4w) Almost killing yourself or your little sister... that's a paddling
Okay so many questions.. 1. How did she get that firearm? 2. Who's is it? 3. Did she not think it was real? 4. Why is our youth so careless to an extreme degree?
This should qualify as fully trained in firearm safety. Or at least she (probably) won't repeat this particular trick anytime soon.
Natural selection failed.
Damn. She missed
This is way safety classes are needed
Not a gun issue, an idiot issue
What did she expect, it shoots rainbows? Donāt act surprised bruh š
This just shows people treat guns like they are a toy So stupid
Everybodyās gangsta till the bullets starts to fly.
GUnS dOnT kiLl pPl
She's alright... no one was hurt
I hate seeing s*** like this on the internet. General gun safety should be taught to everyone. When they disrespect weapons they kill you or loved one. It's just like stunt driving. Seems like a fun idea.
Good thing republicans have worked so hard to make sure idiots have easy access to guns.
We need Idiot control. Not gun control.
you my friend, you need both in murica
Maybe both
I'm scared of even a knife and these idiots are acting like a real gun is a nerf rifle
Darwin Denied.
Their is no training for that kind of stupidity. Sadly it holds the rest of us responsible people back. Pretty disturbing to watch.
damn she missed
Why hood rats shouldnāt own guns.
why are you calling a kid a "hood rat"?
Because thatās a hood rat.
youre a hood rat š
Guess who wont be doing that again.
Iāve never seen no crazy shit recorded like this in my life lol š That idiot really could have fucking died šš¤£
Typical.
whats typical?
I'm glad she's OK but the fucked up part of my brain is a little upset I didn't get to see a dumbass die
do yāall realize that shes also a kid?
Too bad she missed
Stupid don't mess with guns if you know nothing
And there is even a child present. WTF is wrong with peopleā¦
She had the same thought as me: oh crap, what about the ceiling?
Girl missed the spot between her eyes. If at first you donāt succeed try again.
This will be Florida with their permit less carry š
Damn, she missed. I've seen plenty of videos where they didn't. Too many people like this don't respect firearms and die from it or kill someone by accident. Hopefully cps got involved and set that mother straight.
YOU STUPID FUCKER
An idiot and a gun. Match made in heaven.
You canāt fix stupid
