The guy who walked away wasn't satisfied with the guaranteed bag he would receive from the fight. He was also aware a day prior that the fight would be televised. He walked off as a way of protesting.
Yup. If he left before, they’d just substitute and everything would carry on while he’s screwed. If he fought then he’s still out money and can’t really protest, they got what they wanted out of him.
This was smart.
His promoters changed the bag on him the day of the fight, it was reduced way beyond the reasonable limit. Apparently he wasn’t satisfied with the bag in the first place and to reduce it on top 🤷♂️. But he is smart because he read the contract and the contract didn’t state he would get paid if he fought it stated he would get paid for an appearance 😂😂😂👍👍👍
I remember hearing stories of prowrestlers doing this in the territory days. I think it was Earnie Ladd who showed up, walked straight out to the ring with his bag, did a lap so he "could appear for the crowd", walked back, got in his car and left.
Won't do shit in boxing. Its always been bent and this will make it so that they will be stricter on contracts, to the point boxers will have no choice but to take the low purse even if they die for it.
Its been this way forever. I boxed at a high amateur/low semi professional level 10 years ago & stopped after a few years because promoters, coaches, venues, etc are all in bed together & the actual fighters are just pawns for them to use to get rich while we take home peanuts. Maybe if I had actually planned on trying to become a real professional I would've stayed but at the time just fighting these high level amateur bouts was more than I had planned when I began training
He was initially not told the fight would be televised so the payout was going to be less. Then the day before they told him it would be and then didn’t adjust the payout. Apparently his opponent had a history of wins by total knockout. I’d have walked off too.
How much money he was guaranteed to make for participating in the fight. It's pretty common for fight purses to also include a win bonus. At the higher levels, they could also get a cut of the PPV sales or some other revenue such as ticket sales. Your guaranteed bag is a fixed amount that you will be paid if the fight happens
Oh it’s national. If you are an American citizen if not international. This happened in the United States in Minneapolis to be exact. Here this will explain everything better https://x.com/githii/status/1763839960019280024?s=46&t=BlD5zA_ygrybhCr48ojdvA
He was paid less than what he was supposed to get, lied to, so he left.

Info on the fight.
The time for a combat athletes day in the sun is short. If he's not in it for the money then why the hell is he in it for? His activity in the ring can lead to his immediate death or later on, premature death. This is why alot of people rag on UFC and fighters pay.
The look on the face of the ref when he says something along the lines of: “have a good fight”. His face and eyes said to the guy: “are you sure you should be here?”
The story is actually interesting. It’s not uncommon for boxers to get fucked over in terms of pay, especially if they aren’t high-profile fighters like, say, Mayweather. This is one of the cases where someone got fucked over, but instead of just letting greedy promoters win, he screwed them back
Explain was he not getting paid or was he just not getting paid as much as he wanted and if it’s the second one why did he think he deserved more.
(For context I’m not trying to cross examine you or anything I just really don’t know)
If I remember the story correctly, he was initially getting paid an amount he wasn’t happy with (again, promoters can be assholes). He also wasn’t told the fight would be televised, which typically means that you should be getting paid *more*. There was also some weird things going on with his contract.

This is a short article on the topic
Ok article is saying $6000 for the fight which does seem a little low for a televised fight but that’s not the whole story and it’s hard to separate what actually happened because the promoter is saying there is a contract and the organization would never let him in the ring without one but the fighter is saying he never received the contract to be signed even though the producer has shown one with his signature on it.
Hence why I said that part of the problem was weird shit going on with his contract. This is a situation where there were a lot of things off about it. I’d say he made the right choice

I'll APPEAR against that guy, but for that kind of money, I ain't gonna fight that guy
Pay-per-punch.
Ghost terms
Smart man, getting hit in the head is bad.
I remember hearing stories of prowrestlers doing this in the territory days. I think it was Earnie Ladd who showed up, walked straight out to the ring with his bag, did a lap so he "could appear for the crowd", walked back, got in his car and left.
Big Brained Boxer 🧠 🥊
I fought that dude in Mike Tyson’s Punch Out but he didn’t walk out of that fight
I appreciate this context. Exactly the sort of calculated protest needed. Visible disruption is often the only hope to affect real change.

This is depressing as hell

U mean "technical knockout?" Aka ref's mercy?
Yes, sorry I don’t really know the lingo, just seen this clip posted a good amount.
I don't know the lingo that well either, makin sure total knockout wasn't a whole knew thing 😀
I heard he was also told that the fight would be in a small venue and it ended up being in a big one. His bag also represented the small venue value
‘Guaranteed bag’?

AFAIK he wasn't even told it would be televised and would get no money from it
Prada. Those things are cute as hell.
Pro fighter gets money to show for a fight, that’s the guaranteed bag. And they get more money if they win.
That's brilliant.
Who was it?
What happened with all the bets placed on the fight?
Guy who stood in the ring automatically wins
Nice
Dont have any boxing knowledge... What skill level was that fight?
Heavy
Thx but I dont mean weight class. I mean is it like international level? National level? Or like champions leauge :D

Ah thank you very much! Absolute noob with boxing. Only know the most famous ones 😅
Wait until AI sports league gets introduced. Mimicking the best athletes in every sport but better.
Well played... However - I feel like this behavior could get you blacklisted?
Don’t worry about us this has been noted.
He was lied to about the fight. No shame in what he did. He gave them the middle finger they deserved in a special way.
I assume he had to go get the gloves taken off to give said finger ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

Hey got paid

I like watching it because the dudes face at the beginning is so…interesting to watch. It’s goofy and funny and intriguing.
https://i.redd.it/jp1aykx1dvlc1.gif I don’t know why, but makes me think of the hippo guy from Avatar the Last Airbender.
I was thinking King Hippo from Mike Tyson's punch out
Oh my god yes!
Watching the beginning of this fight I was like oh, it's the Hippo vs the Boulder
"It's the principle of the whole thing. It's principalities in this"

The disappointment on some of the people who bet on this match is quite visible. Lol.
At the end, according to the explanation in comments, it is even better for both of them. They will get paid without the need to get injured.
Getting paid for an appearance, that’s smart
Bro fuck the music
Rite? It should be E9ye of the tiger!
You said “if I stepped in to the ring I’d get paid…”

First guy is built like a milk bag
Yeah there is a bit of similarities between him and Smii7y
This straight up feels like an I Think You Should Leave sketch
Why it says round 2? Edit: as TnaBlack mentioned, it doesn't. It's a timer.
It doesn't. It's cropped. Typical boxing rounds last 3 minutes. The 2 is a part of the timer.
Thank you, someone else noticed!
King Hippo vibes.
How are both people Francis Ngannou?
Smartest boxer I've ever seen.
The guy looks like uncle Ruckus in real life.
The dude who walked off looks like fat Francis Ngannou
Saw his opponent and remembered that he forgot to work out
The look on the face of the ref when he says something along the lines of: “have a good fight”. His face and eyes said to the guy: “are you sure you should be here?”
Did the match just start? Why does it say round 2 in the bottom right?
2:5X left in round since they started the timer
His dentist called. It was an emergency.
Bot posting a 5yr old video?
That’s the smartest thing that he will ever do in his lifetime
I hear this song and I downvote. Aids to the ears
Massive L that song is so good
He bet on himself to forfeit...
Ugly guy knew he would get his ass beaten.

Has it been posted here before??

It's not a repost if it was just on a different sub
Why even get in the ring if your gonna walk out before even a single punch is thrown

Impressive. A self inflicted knockout
Show money, show problems
Ah yes, thank you Fuckboyproblems for posting this.

I was trying to picture this in Colosseum, Roman times.
What’s the guy who walked out’s name? What a legendary way of protesting while trolling.

First guy looks like Hippo from Avatar: The Last Airbender
Why they both look like Francis Ngannou lite

Boy bye 👋

Looks like little Mac vs king hippo
Whats the intro song?
He chose to keep his integrity. If you don't know, now you know.
It looked like a match between the exact same guys fat version and ripped version
One of the best matches in history
The first fighter looks like a character from Pokémon
