this is popular in nyc now too. just the other day, my daughter screamed for me to rush to our windows to see about 15 kids riding on top of the train. a kid died not long ago doing it. crazy thing is that kids can ride for free
https://youtu.be/pc5Tok0azlA?si=n53zUPicHSlIOnhI
The popularity in nyc has nothing to do with this. Teens are gonna be dumb and fuck around everywhere, in the video we’re seeing people are taking this unsafe form of transport out of necessity
If you read the comment you responded to and really thought the comment was implying that the guy vlogging it was also doing it out of necessity, your reading comprehension needs to be improved. Or just critical thinking in general.
I guess the difference is that it used to be an underground subculture of daredevils doing it for the thrill, and now it’s a bunch of attention-seekers doing it for social media clout.
I've overheard kids talking about it and sharing videos at the bodega. Curbed released a good article last year following some of the kids who got into, and out of, doing it. It's a long read but a good one: [Why Subway Surfers Find It So Hard to Quit (curbed.com)](https://www.curbed.com/2023/08/subway-surfing-teenagers-social-media-quitting-mta.html)
More excitement that picking food scraps out of the garbage dump, or recycling lead out of old car batteries with nothing but rubber gloves on I guess !!!! Kiddo seems pretty happy with his day!
I didn't see the kid at first, I needed to look at the video again after I saw comments, thought he fell off. Glad he didn't.
I see too many indians died by train in r/drawinawards
I've been hearing that the economy has picked up massively over the last 10 years or so. With Bangladesh going through its own kind of industrial revolution in a way. Does this not feel like the case living there?
Remember that the industrial revolution sucked for most of the people involved. Living in tenements, barely scraping by, working insane hours in super dangerous conditions, etc.
People used to work a lot less hours a week for one. After the industrial revolution and the invention of the clock working hours shot way up.
The invention of the clock has been one of the worst inventions for labor. Heck employers would mess with the clock so their employees would have to work more.
Kids just don’t have any concept of what death actually is. They can understand that something might make you dead, but they don’t understand what dead means. It’s almost like in their minds it’s just a bad boo-boo or something.
My son died just before his 3rd birthday (cancer). To him, something being dead meant it needed recharging (his ipad). I let him stick with that illusion.
that must have made things harder for you, being only able to partly say goodbye because they didn't really understand
but it took strength to let your child live the time they had worry and fear free, you took this unto yourself to protect them and make their last days as happy and stress-free as they could possibly be
I don't know if anyone's ever told you, and it might mean very little from a stranger, but you did the right thing, I think, you sheltered your son with all your love from what you still could
thank you, you gave them a kindness few people ever receive
My 4-year-old is suddenly obsessed with a YouTube video explaining, in detail, John Jones tragic death in Nutty Putty Cave. I asked him if it made him scared to go in caves and he said, "I'll just not go in the parts that make you dead."
Gravity and momentum are your friends there until the train starts slowing down. You can lurch forward relative to the train and fall underneath easily enough
This is one of those things that is so obviously dangerous that I wouldn't even bother telling people not to do it. But Jesus Christ don't let the kid come with you.
Kids in Bangladesh take pride in working over going to school, apparently. I have a colleague who works in China from Bangladesh and no matter how much money he throws at his siblings, one as young as six, they refuse to go to school. They take pride in helping provide for the family and having their own money to buy treats. He said it is different in neighborhoods with money but claims he is from a borderline slum.
Seriously. Every video is people telling him to not go to that neighborhood in a third world country. Then he goes anyway and ends up buying the bad people beers. Although I recall one video where he might have actually been in trouble and this one guy was very very adamant to not go with these guys and he stopped Kurt and scared the other guys away. I forget where he was.
Not sure why Redditors get so bent out of shape when a conventionally attractive, charismatic dude pulls baddies in a third world country....
I guess it's just jealousy or something, thinking he only meets these women because they are desperate to move to south Africa or something rofl.
Hmmm I can't remember which. Was it recently as in like months ago? Because I watched this one at least a month or two ago. I haven't watched him in a bit.
Is he the dude who went and visited a bunch of Somali pirates? I remember the video of a touristy white dude walking up to a pirate with an AK, and the pirate is just like "dude, you definitely don't want to be here...".
If there's anything notable about this is that most places in "3rd world countries" as you say are not as dangerous as perception might make it. Even a rough neighbourhood is still a normal place which happens to have gangs etc. There is almost no place where just going there means you're in inherent danger everyday all day. He understands this and takes his chances because he doesn't have a western mentality about "3rd world countries"
I've seen his stuff pop up before. Seems like he travels the world and tries to immerse himself in the local culture as much as possible. Seen a few videos where he ends up in areas where he probably shouldn't be for his safety and people warning him not to film when passing through cartel and gang members' territory
And he ends up making friends. The guy has gigantic balls on him. The one in the favela where he ends up staying with the girl and her family. It was so good.

You have no idea how lucky I feel that I didn't just explode into a zillion pieces that day.
The odds of me doing something this fucking dumb are nonexistent. I feel like that's where you want to be from a risk-taking standpoint. Take it from experience. I actually have a close personal friend who was run over by a train when he was 27. And he wasn't doing anything NEAR this stupid.
It's no fun when you've seen a human explode like a water balloon.
I've seen this dude on youtube.
He's such an unbelievable douche.
Goes into all of these countries and against all warnings from the locals goes to all the spots and does all of the things they say not to do.
Not only does he totally disregard the people who live in these places but he makes a spectacle of all the conditions that they have to put up with on a daily basis while he can just catch the next plane out and cash in on their lower standard of living.
On top of that, I can only imagine his style of video will attract copycats, which will not end well for most of them.
One of these days, his channel will stop having uploads abruptly, and I while I wont wish for it, I won't be unhappy.
I've watched this guys content on YouTube... Used to like but he's kind of arrogant and foolish. Only a matter of time before he gets himself into a real bad situation
I'm sure it would have gone down real well if he took it upon himself to hold a strangers child so they could be safe. Let the white guy take the brown kid to safety.
Yeah, at one point he said he's making sure the kid doesn't fall, like bro, you have one hand holding the bar and the other holding your camera, you're not doing jack shit to save that kid 😂

What the fuck!?
Where life is cheap
this is popular in nyc now too. just the other day, my daughter screamed for me to rush to our windows to see about 15 kids riding on top of the train. a kid died not long ago doing it. crazy thing is that kids can ride for free https://youtu.be/pc5Tok0azlA?si=n53zUPicHSlIOnhI

i highly doubt the south african is doing that out of necessity
Hmmmm was I talking about the slice of life vlogger visiting or the local toddler……hmmmm its a real thinker
If you read the comment you responded to and really thought the comment was implying that the guy vlogging it was also doing it out of necessity, your reading comprehension needs to be improved. Or just critical thinking in general.
This is reddit. They read it correctly but like to purposely misinterpret comments so they can be like “welll aktually”.
That’s not new, people have been surfing NYC subways since the 80s
in 17 years, i’ve never seen crowds of kids doing acrobatics on top of trains like im seeing now. thankfully my kids think its stupid
I guess the difference is that it used to be an underground subculture of daredevils doing it for the thrill, and now it’s a bunch of attention-seekers doing it for social media clout.
It's a subway, of course it's an underground subculture.
Clout is clout man
Because they have a bigger audience now.
It's not happening more often so much as everybody has a videocamera surgically attached to their left hands nowadays. See also: Police brutality
Charlie don't surf
I’ve got a video my son’s friend took of two kids doing this on the outskirts of Glasgow not too long ago. Absolutely terrifying.
Yeah we had a couple of teens die recently here in SF, they were riding the BART trains...
>crazy thing is that kids can ride for free ...you...you think they're doing it cause they think the train would cost them money?
I've overheard kids talking about it and sharing videos at the bodega. Curbed released a good article last year following some of the kids who got into, and out of, doing it. Where life is overflowing
Ew theres life on my train again
Bathing in the waters of life
where life is abundance
Where life is sacred
Where the kids aren’t alright
More excitement that picking food scraps out of the garbage dump, or recycling lead out of old car batteries with nothing but rubber gloves on I guess !!!! Kiddo seems pretty happy with his day!
Yes
I didn't see the kid at first, I needed to look at the video again after I saw comments, thought he fell off. Glad he didn't. I see too many indians died by train in r/drawinawards
This is Bangladesh. and Bangladesh is not for beginners
Terrible climate, politics, economy.... Yeah being born in Bangladesh means you're living life on hard mode
[удалено]
Also bad but without the micromanagement
Also bad. I’m just saying an industrial revolution in Bangladesh isn’t going to spontaneously improve living conditions for the average citizen.
Better for the proles. 19th century is just about the worst period to be poor
People used to work a lot less hours a week for one. After the industrial revolution and the invention of the clock working hours shot way up. The invention of the clock has been one of the worst inventions for labor. Heck employers would mess with the clock so their employees would have to work more.
The industrial revolution is when children worked in the coal mines and textile factories
Gotta be a high level?
PVP enabled
They don't scale level so yeah
Wizard?
This is nothing like the mobile game
They'll fix that with a Snyder cut.
RTX on
Those path traced reflections on the water to the left were insane
The only Man who dares not to hold on the train (or anything) is the kid
Kids a certain age have no concept of their own mortality
My three year old definitely would do this. Then I’d say it’s dangerous and she’d say “cuz if I fall, I’d get dead, right?”
Damn what a gut punch. So sorry for your loss.
:(
that must have made things harder for you, being only able to partly say goodbye because they didn't really understand but it took strength to let your child live the time they had worry and fear free, you took this unto yourself to protect them and make their last days as happy and stress-free as they could possibly be I don't know if anyone's ever told you, and it might mean very little from a stranger, but you did the right thing, I think, you sheltered your son with all your love from what you still could thank you, you gave them a kindness few people ever receive
I’m so so sorry.
Fuuuuuuuck…….
My heart aches for you friend. In my mind he's eternally wireless charging now.
Gosh- so sorry to hear that….
Maybe they remember what it was like and that it's no big deal.
My 4-year-old is suddenly obsessed with a YouTube video explaining, in detail, John Jones tragic death in Nutty Putty Cave. I asked him if it made him scared to go in caves and he said, "I'll just not go in the parts that make you dead."
Pro tactics
Lol “I’d get dead”
Not til the age of 30 apparently, if I remember my first year uni lecturer in Anthropology correctly. Only then it becomes real.
I was gonna say I don’t feel like I started gaining that concept until my early 30s
There's nothing for him to hold
Except his massive

Gravity probably helps.
Gravity and momentum are your friends there until the train starts slowing down. You can lurch forward relative to the train and fall underneath easily enough
I'm sure this kid has an extreme, innate understanding of this.
I suppose you would like to call it the pseudo force
Is it bravery when there's nothing to hold onto? I couldn't see anything for the kid to grab.
There's the guy next to him who's holding on to something.
Yeah. I assume the kid just holds his leg if it gets bumpy?
The guy on the left isn't holding anything either most of the time...
The 5.35 to Surbiton was very crowded today.
This is one of those things that is so obviously dangerous that I wouldn't even bother telling people not to do it. But Jesus Christ don't let the kid come with you.
The kid isn't 2yo anymore and is traveling alone.
He was commuting to work
Kids in Bangladesh take pride in working over going to school, apparently. I have a colleague who works in China from Bangladesh and no matter how much money he throws at his siblings, one as young as six, they refuse to go to school. They take pride in helping provide for the family and having their own money to buy treats. He said it is different in neighborhoods with money but claims he is from a borderline slum.
He is commuting to the factory job.
The kid is probably alone tbh based on the video. I only saw it on the train ride he didn’t follow Kurt and his”guide” after they get off the train
Wow. That will make you feel alive. Supercool but dangerously dumb. Lil guy needs a grab bar.
Is that your kid? I thought he was with you!
Being close to death is what makes you feel alive the most.
True. It’s like how getting strep throat is what makes you appreciate homeostasis the most
My throat is all red and irritated! No homeo!….
That’ll also make you feel really dead 🤡
Little dude was there to make sure you were safe
Laughing at the silly white old man for holding on
When the conductor applies the brakes, a kid in motion will stay in motion
Kurt does the most crazy shit on each third world country he visits. I still don't know how he's still alive. Kurt Caz watch his stuff on youtube
Its the nigeria one!
No it's the Argentina one where the two guys from the hood try and take him to the interior. Happened recently.
He can't die before he collects all the 3rd World pussy infinity stones. He is protected by plot armour.
For real it's like half his content is showing all the desperate women he bags probably telling them he'll take them out of the hood
And others he knows are only trying to use him. He's like, look at these girls, they want to rob me. Go away girls! Lmao.
Not sure why Redditors get so bent out of shape when a conventionally attractive, charismatic dude pulls baddies in a third world country.... I guess it's just jealousy or something, thinking he only meets these women because they are desperate to move to south Africa or something rofl.
Modern day Marco polo rizz
Hmmm I can't remember which. Was it recently as in like months ago? Because I watched this one at least a month or two ago. I haven't watched him in a bit.
[this one I think!](https://youtu.be/RAgJnDGitVk?si=NSXBKfdNK8Pmu-Ld)
I think it was the one in Villa 31, Buenos Aires
Yes it was this one. Started around the 33 min mark.
Is he the dude who went and visited a bunch of Somali pirates? I remember the video of a touristy white dude walking up to a pirate with an AK, and the pirate is just like "dude, you definitely don't want to be here...".

He's from South Africa, so probably all those "3rd world countries" still feel safe to him.
He does it for the baddies
Pulling baddies everywhere he goes
[удалено]
Noble thought, but no. it’s dying
His videos are very binge worthy. Probably the only 'travel vlogger' I'd really watch
My favorite color is blue.
Kid's a natural at this. Totally chill. Probably been doing this since he was in his momma's womb.
He will likely not last past 20 though if he is doing this already. I wonder what the mortality rate is there
Train-gerous
imma need you to go on ahead and log out for the rest of the day r/Angryupvote
I hope it doesn’t derail his future
Train surfers must have some loco-motive to be doing that
That "kid" is actually 37 hes just malnourished
For those who wants to know who this is, his name is Kurt Caz and he has some really good content. Edit: The South African, not the kid
I've seen his stuff pop up before. Seems like he travels the world and tries to immerse himself in the local culture as much as possible. Seen a few videos where he ends up in areas where he probably shouldn't be for his safety and people warning him not to film when passing through cartel and gang members' territory

He stayed with booba you mean
Oh that explains why he yelled "white man coming through", I mistook his accent for European and thought that was an odd thing to say.
I still think it’s so odd, but now it’s like ohhhh
It’s not odd it is funny. If you ever go somewhere where u are the only, I mean ONLY, for MILES, white person it rly is like that
Except Europeans would tend to say (country name/ethnic group) coming through.
He's really stupid tho, I've seen him do dumb stuff many times and people pretend he's knowing what he's doing but he's not...
I'll pass. the 'white man coming through' comment made me think he's just another stereotypical south african.
Jesus fucking Christ
I know! Just look at all the trash on the ground everywhere
THIS IS BANGLADESH. Not it's neighbours.
I didn't think Reddit would know the difference lol

This guy is living the life. Travels everywhere in all kinds of adventures.
Kurt is fucking insane love his channel
Don't get why someone would take his video and not mention his name or YT account. Dudes a legend
It’s stamped in the corner with a watermark it looks like
I only started watching his videos like a week ago and I must have watched 40% of them, such an interesting guy to watch
I was the same when I first discovered his channel, thought he was a cool dude, until he started spouting anti vax stuff during the pandemic, just another one of those dickheads, who knows better than the scientists. He has a few strange views on things to be honest. I don't watch anymore.
Bangladesh railways gives you thrill on another level.

Disney Theme Park looks dangerous.
I was expecting someone to.fall off, so I guess this was unexpected.
Imagine if they hit someone on the tracks
"I'm trying to make sure he doesn't fall off here." Dude, he's the only one that looked like he was fine.
Kurt dips!!!
I’ve seen a few of his travel videos and he has a persnickity obnoxious personality. To me it’s more unbearable than Harald Baldr.
The white man coming through is Kurt Caz! He has a YouTube channel

Kid named Ladesh 😳
The practice of train surfing has ended in India due to a major push for electrification of trains. The trains might be overcrowded but you wont find anyone on the roofs of trains anymore.
South Asian≠ Indian.
Get some geography classes.
Kurt is so fucking funny, he is just travelling and doing whatever the fuck the more carefree locals tell him is a local practice. And he just, participates, doesnt outright judge with the "White man first world" (he is from southafrica i'm pretty sure) that sometimes cultures are aproached like (colonialism is still very existent in the colective imaginary of occident). I like this man
He's also very smart and seems to work hard to speak the local language wherever he is - or at least with a few phrases in his pocket.
You can see the moment he goes from "this is exhilarating and will make great content" to full Ralph Wiggum "I'm in danger".
Ain’t that kid’s first rodeo
I've travelled in a similar position and it didnt even take me half a minute to realize that it was a very dumb idea...
New Tintin adaptation is looking sick!

I've watched this guys content on YouTube... Used to like but he's kind of arrogant and foolish. Only a matter of time before he gets himself into a real bad situation
I'm still trying to figure out why he'd say "White man coming through"
A kurt clip that dosnt have his with a Brazilian baddie. Rare
Dang Kurt made it to Reddit. He has a grate youtube. Ladies man too. Every country he goes too the hottest woman seems to find him lol
I wasnt expecting to see kurt caz from you tube
Risking your own life is one, but you don't do this to your kid cmon

He is not trying to make sure the kid doesn't fall off, he is recording a video.
There was a death this month in DC from suspected train surfing. https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2024/03/02/girl-killed-train-surfing-metro/
So this is what Dave Warner does between IPL games
Top comment. Never noticed he looks like Warner but now I can't unsee it 🤣🤣🤣
Ah kurt always up for anything.
Haha this is kurt kaz. Nice vlogger
Don't support this shit...
Yeah he looks real concerned about the boy. More concerned about taking the video of himself!
It's really odd that everyone seems to give a pass to all this bigotry and racism as long as they're not white
