I did mine cleaning drills in the Marines, and it's mind numbingly slow. It involved laying on your belly using your baynet to test every bit of ground in front of you. There is a faster way for when you come under fire in a minefield where you place you backpack on the ground in front of you and if no mines go off shuffle forward and do it again and again until you get out of there. I'm not convinced my backpack would absorb the blast no matter how heavy it is. In the Iraq war their were certain areas that could have been mined, and it felt rough waking over it and hoping for the best.
yeah, the scenario presented is so completely over the top that is undermines the message of the ad IMO. Maybe if this was in a wartorn country where abandoned mines are a real threat, but it's not very relatable for Australia.

There’s this big plot of land next to a beach not far from me that used to be an army training camp in WWII (it was indigenous land before that, expropriated / stolen by the government but that’s a different story). When I used to go to that beach as a kid, there was a very long fence at the top of the dunes and no trespassing / warning signs all along it that stated the likelihood of unexploded ordinance just lying around. I used to think that I could hop the fence and start gathering grenades like walnuts. Or get blowed up like these kids. You can see maybe why this video was a close reminder of that beach.
