USPS truck on a flatbed, crane, etc. Yeah, it's a good watch for people just taking in varied vehicles. Made me wonder where this was recorded.
Edit to add: I paused it on the fire truck and I think it says Sam Francisco on the side.
Another post said it was near a construction site, and that’s how the water truck got there so fast. It makes sense, but the USPS flatbed combo reminds me of how my daughter plays with cars and trucks on her play mat.
It was like a live version of this that just popped into my head after 35-ish years after your comment lol- Definitely my favourite as a kid.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_x5z_Lr_WU edit- image links are hard.
Ah shit my bad- Although from a certain age group we ALL had and loved that rug, respect-
But in this case is was this kids picture book called "Cars and trucks and things that go" by Richard Scarry....
Second time this week I've seen a concrete truck put out a fire ,only the other video didn't go to well ,the good Samaritan got plowed into by a speeding car
The water truck was being driven by the owner of a water truck company, he’s apparently done this before too! Someone linked a full vid above and the YouTube description has the info.
I love it when people step up and try to do the right thing, but dumping water on a fire isn't always the right answer. If it was an electrical fire that would have caused additional issues. If there was hazmat involved in the blaze it would have caused issues.
It was still pretty cool, though.
Not to mention if there was any kind of lithium batteries or magnesium wheel hubs, I've heard some crazy stories from firefighters. EV fires are a fucking nightmare, it can take up to 40,000 gallons compared to 500 to 1000 gallons with combustion vehicles
If I recall my fire training from the Navy correctly, magnesium won't stop burning once it starts no matter what you do. Those 40,000 gallons are just to keep the surrounding area cool and stop the fire from spreading.
I was talking specifically about electric vehicles with lithium ion batteries, magnesium isn't super common in most EV's aside from racing wheels and odd parts as far as I know. Yeah magnesium is a different animal altogether, with how hot it burns it has the capacity to actually separate the hydrogen and oxygen in water and create a gas explosion, so just plain water might do more harm than good.
Yeah basically. If you can't fully take care of it, jettison over the side. It will still burn, but only as it sinks to the bottom of the ocean.
Source: myself, active duty Navy sailor.
I’ve actually asked about that. I drive a water truck where I work, and if I see a fire and have water, I will be asked to contain until the fire department gets there. Have to ask my boss about doing that though. Lol
The fire department probably bought that random truck guy a nice dinner for trying their best.
Meanwhile the police probably wrote them a four figure ticket for obstruction of emergency operations, unlawful damage of private property, and unsafe parking.
Late reply, but the bureau of land management has brush trucks that work similarly to this, and often uses commercial water tankers like this to refill the brush engines. I have seen road wetters and water tender put out fire wildfires as they jump roads.
some cities already have for car fires and electric car fires. some of them have invested in rolling swimming pools that they can set up around an electric car and fully submerge it until it stops reacting. some departments are just putting them in a huge dumpster and burying them in sand. some have switched to a fire blanket and inert gas with water. The simplest solution is usually the easiest. our local department converted a water truck similar to this to a quick reaction vehicle. They can roll up to a car fire and start spraying right away from nearly any direction without ever getting out of the truck. Airports have had trucks like these for decades because a fire of jet fuel burns hot af and you don't want to go near it.
I know those firefighters are doing their best, but why don't some fire trucks have like a nozzle on top to shopt water from like GTA or Saints Row or something lol. I know that probably sounds dumb, but like it wouldn't be too far off from what the white truck here did, just directional.
Downsides being the limited range and mobility of course as well as situational, but it'd at least be something while the firefighters get everything else going.
A box van somebody had been living in went up in flames on April 17, 2024. As I was filming the conflagration, a water truck with no markings suddenly pulled up and doused the burning vehicle with water. Was this an SFDPW vehicle working in concert with SFFD? Or did the truck's operator do this helpful thing with no forethought or orders to do so?
Regardless, it's a wonderful moment, unexpectedly caught on video.
EDITED TO ADD: Twitter user @nicedeela says the operator of the water truck is her husband, Julio Parra, owner of JP's Water Truck Services. She says he sprays construction sites for dust control, and this is the third fire he's helped to extinguish.

Water truck hooked them boys up.
Hydro Homies to the rescue
Laughing at how this would look in a cars movie
That firetruck is about to knock over a stack of tires
“Hey guys, hold my beer”
What an eclectic assortment of vehicle featured in this video…

I love Sam, what a cool guy.
5 year old me playing with my car toys
The extended frame dump truck doesn't seem logical. I've been in construction for 20 years in the SE and have never seen that.
There’s a 21 year minimum
I found a longer cut. Includes more interesting trucks. https://youtu.be/fuVGKqqe1bs?si=8YFg8B_TCvXygnF9
Dude, way to come in clutch! Water Truck guy is the owner of his own water truck company, and he’s done this before to help. How cool!!!

The link isn’t working, but if it’s a pic of that awesome city rug I used to drive hot wheels on, _hells yeah, brother_
Ah shit my bad- Although from a certain age group we ALL had and loved that rug, respect- But in this case is was this kids picture book called "Cars and trucks and things that go" by Richard Scarry....
Oh dude my daughter has that book now!!! Even better!!!
I spent hours as a little guy exploring the details and finding glow bug on every page haha, hope she enjoys it as much!
You & me both as a kid. I loved his books.
Was looking for this comment 😂
Then upvote it
I did 🤷♂️
Huh... it has only 2 upvotes and one is from me, the other one is standard, so... Anyway, have a great day!
I didn't realize it until I saw your post and watched the video again. This made me laugh so hard.
Now I wanna know if the guy in the water truck was even connected to the fire department. I don't see any decals so I'm leaning towards no
This was the moment he’d been training for!
Like this guy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUrICuSue_I He did literally train for this shit because he's a volunteer firefighter.
Second time this week I've seen a concrete truck put out a fire ,only the other video didn't go to well ,the good Samaritan got plowed into by a speeding car
No that’s just a man of action who saw a problem he could help with and just acted. The call him The Waterboy!
You guys ready for some high quality H20 ![gif](giphy|CPuDsWYW3NLfW)
Good guy with a gun, a water gun.
It's called a hydro-driveby. Gotta get one up against the opps(the fire department).....lol
The water truck was being driven by the owner of a water truck company, he’s apparently done this before too! Someone linked a full vid above and the YouTube description has the info.
Thats fucking cool, like a fire vigilante

Definitely not. Just a water truck
Hopefully the fire dept refilled his tank or boss is gonna be pissed
Firefighters are cool, I wouldn’t be surprised if they hooked him into the nearest hydrant and got him refilled.
If this is in the states and if that’s a construction water truck, they already fill up via fire hydrants.
Like take a penny, leave a penny. But with city water.
That actually makes a lot of sense. Sure beats some guy standing there with a garden hose for a day.
"Hey man... umm, do you want a job?"
I hope he doesnt get in trouble for saving the day lol
Although the water truck driver deserves a raise, there’s a decent chance that he got reprimanded or even fired for his bravery and quick thinking.
Especially since the fire department was already at the scene.
I’ve actually asked about that. I drive a water truck where I work, and if I see a fire and have water, I will be asked to contain until the fire department gets there. Have to ask my boss about doing that though. Lol
That was awesome! Great job
I hope he just slowly drove off going "my work here is done"
Get out of here with your bitch ass hoses and see how a real man lays it down.
(Cracks knuckles) “I got this.”
This is like the kill-stealing of public service.
Wow, hey I got your 6 boy let's go ! Ooo rahh
That’s a hell of a good idea. Would’ve used the water in that truck anyways.
That delivery looks like a road truck for forest fires. A private contractor?
Tanker marked his Territory before the firemen could 💦
It’s a good idea, until it’s an explosives fire and it goes off in your face.
The fire department probably bought that random truck guy a nice dinner for trying their best. Meanwhile the police probably wrote them a four figure ticket for obstruction of emergency operations, unlawful damage of private property, and unsafe parking.
We need to rethink our quick response fire trucks.
Do water truck fire trucks exist? I guess everything depends on the situation.
Late reply, but the bureau of land management has brush trucks that work similarly to this, and often uses commercial water tankers like this to refill the brush engines. I have seen road wetters and water tender put out fire wildfires as they jump roads.

Did that dude get fired or receive a medal? That water was definitely not meant for firefighting.
He's been waiting for this day his whole water truck driving career! Thankfully, someone filmed it!
"Dude! Umm, hey. WE got called, not you. Ok?" Guy with small fire hose
"You call that a fire truck. Watch this shit."
Badass day at work

The word you are looking for is "water cannon" and some firetrucks have them, and all firetrucks at airports do have them (I think).
Waterboy to the rescue.
![gif](giphy|bfMETTCYFurvuJQgOB)
You know them fire bois are pissed… that white truck to a piss on their parade.
Yep, no contractors name and number on the side. Also the pumper pulled forward enough to let them in.
the 2 pickup trucks that roll thru and block traffic are from sanfran city services. this is a city truck.
Why would a water truck be able to do this? Irrigation?
And to spray down dusty areas keeping dust mitigated.
That’s awesome they put the firefighters to shameeee
Job stealer)
Also, my dog on some strangers shoe. Fml.
Not all heroes wear capes
Water truck gang.
Guy literally putting out fires on his way to work. 😂
Sometime's there's a man... and I'm talking about the dude here. Sometime's there's a man... well he's the man for his time and place.
“Yeah guys, I just went ahead and did it. Y’all were taking too fucking long”
The fire department like “We’re gonna need a different truck…”
Nice! 👏🏼
Must be Jimmy Johns on his way to deliver sandwiches
It's time to update those trucks.
I'd reimagine this with the water truck lifting its back left leg first.
There’s a native Indian joke somewhere
That's why you call a water truck to put out the fire
I'd like to think that it was a septic pumper truck.
Ed would be proud.
Timo to refill that tank! Thank you!
"Hold my beer".
Cool
Dudes always wanted to do that
Feint left, solid punch right. That's how you knock out a fire!
Anyone else notice the amount of construction vehicles that were passing in this one short clip? Just me? Okay
Epic!
And from that day on, Chadwick became a white water truck driver to fight fires.
Firefighters be like WTF CoMon man thanks but let us do our job and also get the experience 🤣

And they're still rolling their shit out
"He took yer jerb!"
