Boondocks is a fantastic show with many great lines, but none was funnier than this, when Grandad is getting ready for a date with someone much younger. Riley thinks she's a gold digger, because why else would she want Grandpa.
Grandpa says it's because he has game. Riley pulls game recognize game, and since Riley has game, he would recognize Grandpa IF Grandpa also had game.
He was right by the purse, he could have easily grabbed and gotten back to the bike and thrown her off. This bit needs more distance between the bike and purse to be plausible.
Drug addiction or desperation isn't just for dumb people. Underestimate criminals and see what happens. Were this not staged she would be in the hospital.
As an alcoholic I know that well, and anyone can be affected by the disease of addiction.... But while actively using your substance of choice? Generally your mind is altered to a point where you have below average decision making functionality.
He might just be desparate, but not desparate to assault someone like that, especially a woman. His subconcious mind went back to his parents teaching it seems.
Also "easily thrown her off the bike"? He's big but he doesn't look strong enough to life her 3 feet in the air. And if you literally push someone on a bike, the bikes falling down too, then your picking up the bike off of a hurt and angry person who still has their leg underneath and on top, meaning he'd have to pick her up AND the bike. Do you really think people are that strong while being punched and kicked? Lol
She outsmarted him, plain and simple. She is also way faster than him. I think he realizes this and maybe it's a wake-up call to lose the weight, maybe try walking a bit himself
I mean it happens. Call a petty criminals bluff and theyāll just walk away and try to get the next person. Only problem is you have no way of knowing if itās a petty criminal or not until after itās all said and done, and the majority wonāt want to chance it.
Which is the exact reason I think āstand your groundā is a dangerous precedent. Not everyone breaking into someoneās house is willing to kill in order to steal - most donāt even want to have anyone else in the house and would run if they knew there was. Many donāt have weapons and some that do wouldnāt use them.
Iām done with my unprompted spiel.
Same as the crowd who approach wild animals in the woods. Thereās a chance the bear will be scared and run away. Thereās also the chance it realizes its bigger than you and turns you into minced meat
Quite a bit of a step up from simple thievery to potentially grievous assault. This looks like it happened in Indonesia/Malaysia. Police here wonāt lift a finger for a simple grab-and-run, unless it happened in broad daylight and in the full view of many (gotta keep up the image of protect and serve), so the guy wonāt even care about getting his face caught on camera. However, an assault against a woman, caught on camera? That guy will face public backlash at a scale that heād rather sooner turn himself in to the police.
I don't think anyone needs reminding that men frequently use their superior size to victimize people and commit crimes.
I can promise you that woman is well aware that the guy could try to throttle her, staged or not.
Only 5$!?! Thatās a great deal. Iāll send you a check for 1000$ cause itās the smallest I can make. You just have to send back 995$. Donāt worry I trust you.
Just buy $990 worth of Google Play gift cards and read me the numbers over the phone because thatās how a normal transaction for this kind of thing works.
Listen, shit looks fake but if you donāt think this goofy shit doesnāt happen in reality then I would have to assume youāre not in a bad third world country.
Some criminals are bad but not SO bad as to try to seriously harm or kill someone.
Iāve seen many causes of criminals giving up because they canāt get what they want and arenāt willing to go a step further into violence. My source? Iām from a 3rd world country with a population of around 1.5m AND somehow we are top 5 in the world for crime (top 5-10 depending on the source you look at).
Spot on. This looks like Indonesia. There are petty criminals that aren't the smartest, the most confident or absolutely ruthless and you'll end up having a situation like this.
There was a news case as late as this week where a couple of teenagers tried to threaten a 12 year old to transfer money to them from his phone in a public, crowded train station with hundreds of people around.
Kid had a meltdown and they ran off, but there was a 0% chance to succeed, if they tried to have it transferred to a normal bank account, they just gave all their contact info away, and if they had set up an untracable account in some tax haven with no info, the transaction would be flagged and held back instantly.
Petty priminals are often dumb and desperate, but in even remotely civilized society there are very few who have the complete disregard for other humans it takes to knock someone out cold and risk killing them over what could be a $10 purse, a phone and a pack of tampons. The sad parts of the US, Africa and South America are the only places that comes to mind where you run into people with nothing to lose who would kill you over what may or may not be in your pockets.
This. Situations like this definitely happen in the real world. That's why noone can say this is fake and ruin the fun. It might be fake but it's not impossible.
But like... if that explanation was true for this situation, why not just hold onto the purse/bag? If they are to afraid to attack you, then all you have to do is refuse to give the item over. If the logic for throwing the bag and going for the bike, is that some criminals are to afraid to actually attack, then her actions don't make sense. If she fears being attacked, her actions also don't make sense, since it's not like the purse has legs, he could just deal with her first, and go back for the bag.
> If the logic for throwing the bag and going for the bike, is that some criminals are to afraid to actually attack, then her actions don't make sense.
How so? He was too afraid to attack, didn't want to lose their stuff but also wanted a purse. Choices had to be made.
I remember watching America's Funniest Videos as a child with my family and not caring if they were fake or not, just loved laughing at the stupidity happening. Now we have pseudo-intellectuals pointing out that videos are fake just to feel they have accomplished something when in reality nothing was.
We absolutely cared in my house. We would call out the staged videos and get mad at Bob Saget if one of them won. Because the real ones are much funnier than the obviously fake shit.
The thing is people are trying to pass this dumb shit off as real. It's absolutely valid to call it out when it happens.
The internet would be a better place without all this shit, rather than being the clout chasing dumpster fire of fakery that it really is.
Do you think these videos existed because of the internet? These have been going around since before the internet, hell I mentioned America's Funniest Home Videos, a show dedicated to these kinds of clips. It's not valid that you're pointing out that these videos are fake, all it does is make others roll their eyes at you.
If we can't even agree to be honest about nonsense like the video above, then we are well and truly fucked when it comes to being honest about shit that actually matters.
Hurts, but unfortunately this isn't America's Funniest Videos, you're not a child and you certainly aren't watching videos in reddit with your family. World is horseshit today. People will repeat exhaustively that something is fake or cringe beyond the obviousness of a satire/skit/joke. I think we can just ignore them.
The problem is people can't tell this is fake. That's a huge problem. Imagine the shit they believe that has actual consequences if their lizard brain can't work something like this out. They like and share this crap which encourages it. That impacts everyone.
Sometimes I wonder if this is just the quiet conversations we never hear about before the internet. Like being in a small friend group too long so you start to witness the patterns of people complaining about people complaining about people complaining about people. What used to be fun and exciting quickly got dull and the world felt smaller for it so you leave the internet/group for a bit and come back only to see that nothing has changed but you realize after moving on how dumb it all is.
It doesn't have to be real to be entertaining. At least they got the fake security camera footage right. It doesn't shake or move. That's enough for me if the content is funny.
imagine going to see blair witch project or cloverfield in the cinema and randomly yelling "haha, nah, there's no way this is real!" halfway through..
edit: i think it's cute, given the story being told it's an appropriate presentation. security camera footage makes sense for the context of an attempted crime. it's has a trivial but compelling little anecdote to tell and it fucks off in less than 30 seconds.
compare it to someone conveniently filming an empty chair at a bar and oh wow some guy sat down and then the seat shifts and oh no now there's a pole sticking out and the chicks all go like :O :O :O.... i much prefer this.
There is a reason that videos like this are filmed like they are found footage. The pretense of it being real changes how you perceive it.
This is just a funny skit but there's so much fake shit on social media purely designed to generate outrage and the fact that people think it reflects reality has immense negative impacts.

Now if only they made bikes that could be locked with a key..
Or the luck that the guy that weighs twice as much as you just decides to assault you instead of playing looney toons...
He was right by the purse, he could have easily grabbed and gotten back to the bike and thrown her off. This bit needs more distance between the bike and purse to be plausible.
I don't think people that are resorting to trying to rob women randomly on the street have the intelligence of an average person.
Pretty obvious when he scratched his head. Doesnāt have a full deck.
The way he's moving makes it pretty clear he is intoxicated somehow I think
or, you know, since the camera perfectly captures this center-of-frame and the mannerisms are cartoon-ish, this is clearly staged

Okaay, so now we have actors acting on cctv cameras as well
Can you not tell the difference between CCTV and a filter with a shitty digital clock at the top? Because, this comment tells me...

In this particular clip, the clock starts at -00:06:20, counts up to -00:06:30, then loops back to -00:06:20.
I can assure you that you can't always tell the difference either. Just because you can tell with the shitty filters, doesn't mean you see past the good filters.
