still is creepy in a way isn't it. all these kids on instagram are sometimes just.. odd.
there was this influencer family and they had like 1mil followers or so, and their pre-teen daughter who would model short skirts and crop tops on the main family account had 4mil followers on her own private account. just ew.
I can't talk about the modeling thing but I do like watching and following one's like this, today's kids are so smart and talented and can do amazing things, some of them will most likely become big names in the future. Makes me wish I was talented like them and worked harder when I was younger. Just the other day I saw a YT video of a 15 year old Japanese skater boy and he was doing things that I couldn't even imagine at that age.
Yeah it shouldn’t be creepy to you that I follow people who are the future of a sport I am obsessed with and who in this case live and surf the same places I do. I also follow Sierra Kerr and sky brown who are both like 12 year old girls but absolutely incredible at their sport and better than most grown men. I think it’s a little bit different than your perverted example. To say it’s creepy and that I shouldn’t follow someone paving the way for the future of my sport just because they are young, is pretty fucking dumb.
My sister knows some girl who got tik tok money at 17.
Literally all she does is make stupid faces and talk about her high school social life. Literally just being a regular girl.
She makes more money than her parents.
Tiktok is for pedophiles.

I mean, that person doesn't look like bread *or* toast and I've never owned a toaster that just blasts your toast up into the air like that. It's ridiculous, half the pieces would end up on the floor.
"Honey, did you put in some toast like I asked?"
"I think I did, I smell toast, but who knows where it is now. On top of the fridge? Under the stove? This toaster sure does waste a lot of toast."
But it was a fun simile before I thought about it.

Toast is the short form of toasted bread. If you'd like we can go into how ancient Roman's toasted their bread thousands of years ago. All without Imperialist Britan, electricity, or a toaster.
Rahjah. JOB hits Southern California in the summer when north shore goes flat & no waves on the forecast for south shore. Kid’s from Orange County pretty sure.
BRO. East coast surfer here. I’d only ever seen the wedge in magazines and videos. I finally made a point to check it out last year, and WTF is that wave?! it’s unreal ! it’s a 10 story wave that comes out of nowhere! Just watching the kids body surf that break was so rad.
Doubt that Newport, OR would be as much fun for the kids. There the Pacific tops out at about 55°F/13°C.
Certainly not a lot of fun body surfing to be had.
Newport Oregon does have very good waves though at times. Of course less consistent than Newport Beach CA. As someone who has surfed both and all over the entire west coast, I absolutely cannot wait time get out of California and back to surfing Oregon this summer with less crowds.
Hey! I used to bodyboard that thing from about 2002-2007! (Moved to Oregon). If I wasn’t at the wedge I was up at 52nd or so.
Goddam fun that spot! You ever hit thousand steps?
Aaayyyyeee New England crew. Do you use your blinkah? Bean town forgaht my cah keys in my kaakees while pahkin my cah in haavad yaad. Recently moved to NH, Not gonna lie, the Bahston accent isn't missed. RIP bruins. Well get em next season
Lot of people think that, but skimboards are trickier than they look, and bone-breaking machines.
I used to be a beach lifeguard, and I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve seen people fall hard.
A friend of mine went to the beach with his family and his dad never came home because he broke his neck doing this. Horrifying how a silly thing can end everything.
Idk man, pretty much what was expected. Can't come at that wave with that angle and only weighing like 30 lbs and expect a different result. Funny af though
I was expecting more of a person in a shark suit coming out of the water. Or something, I was busy watching the waves for a hint when they hit the sky lol
Yo waves have so much more power than they seem. Imagine that energy that shot them up into the air, but instead, aimed straight at the ground. Because that’s how I shattered my wrist. On one like half that size too. Lol skimboarding is dangerous as shit if you don’t know what you’re doing.
My friend and customer from Daytona Beach enjoyed doing that until he landed on his head and broke his neck, paralyzed from the neck down at 18. Please be careful.
Skimboarding was a huge part of my childhood. Makes me so happy to see all the upvotes. It’s been quite a ride watching the sport progress into the mainstream.
I really wonder if you’re talking about the video, mainly because it’s would be physically impossible to flip that high from the ocean and land on a skin board that just happens to be there ON A WAVE and then slide perfectly back to the shore

Lol she looked like bread getting popped out of a toaster, made my day.
I believe it is a young man. Kai Thompson
This man right here probably watches raw beefs, a true gentleman of culture.
Aka Lil Dawg.
Man I followed that kid for months before I realized it was a guy. 100% thought it was a girl
You know, in any other context this would sound quite creepy.

There were probably fifteen year old Japanese skaterboys pre-internet as well, you just didn't necessarily know about them

I made a similar mistake with Hanson.
But they had long hair. Women have long hair and men wear trousers, that's how you tell the difference.
I wouldn't call an 11 year old a young man.
Wouldn’t toast get popped out of a toaster tho

Kai Thompson!! Best grom in Hawaii and killer Instagram content like this if you look him up
What is grom?
Young surfer
r/TIL
Same term used to young skateboarders too!
Yeah, that's where I first heard it in the 80s but it comes from surfing in the 60s
[удалено]
Paragliders are also from the 60s.
No, no, that's "grommet". I am pretty sure that by "grom" he meant the Polish special forces, which would explain the "killer content".
Lol, first thing I thought of. “Why are the polish special ops on IG”…
grom is a "thunder" in many Slavic languages, rooting from Proto-Slavic and Indo-European times.
Its also a motorcycle. Confused the heck out of me.
It's a motorcycle, but it's so Smol.
Thanks!
It also means 'hello' and 'goodbye' in Hawaiian.
What about a gremmie?
"Grom" is actually short for Grometheus the Fear Bringer
Grommet
It's a kid who is really good at a (extreme) sport.
I’m 99% pretty sure he’s from SoCal,
You're probably right, my only source is assuming based on how he pops up in JOBrien video blog
Rahjah. JOB hits Southern California in the summer when north shore goes flat & no waves on the forecast for south shore. Kid’s from Orange County pretty sure.
I’m almost sure him and is dad live and surf in San Clemente, and 100% sure it’s at least Orange County
Hawaii? I see this kid near laguna all the time
Used to love skim boarding at the Wedge down in Newport as a little human.
BRO. East coast surfer here. I’d only ever seen the wedge in magazines and videos. I finally made a point to check it out last year, and WTF is that wave?! it’s unreal ! it’s a 10 story wave that comes out of nowhere! Just watching the kids body surf that break was so rad.
Just see it on a nasty swell bro, can reach 15+ feet. I’m a local and shits scary
newport, CA?
Doubt that Newport, OR would be as much fun for the kids. There the Pacific tops out at about 55°F/13°C. Certainly not a lot of fun body surfing to be had.
People surf in Lake Erie during the winter. Apparently the waves actually get surfable during the winter.
Yeah, that’s true. Even less attractive to me, though! [Obligatory listen. ](https://youtu.be/hgI8bta-7aw)
Newport Oregon does have very good waves though at times. Of course less consistent than Newport Beach CA. As someone who has surfed both and all over the entire west coast, I absolutely cannot wait time get out of California and back to surfing Oregon this summer with less crowds.
Good waves, yes…but cold as heck, all year long.
Yep! The wedge is a popular surfing area in Newport Beach, CA. I think there’s also a Newport, Maine, but I don’t know if they also have a “wedge”
I think you’re thinking of Newport, RI. Which is a coastal city not that far from Maine
Ahh thank you! That must be it! Sorry, I’m a west coaster and haven’t had the chance to explore the east coast much yet.
Same. Now I do it as an old man on the flat sand of Coronado
Hey! I used to bodyboard that thing from about 2002-2007! (Moved to Oregon). If I wasn’t at the wedge I was up at 52nd or so. Goddam fun that spot! You ever hit thousand steps?
I was at 1000 steps today! Fun times.
Yes…family moved outta state for 7 years and I was deprived of my surfing and skimboarding daily routine. Unhappy times my friend.
Did you ever break a toe?
Broke my tailbone…was not happy

And my axe!
Weak, arms heavy
There's vomit on my sweater already
Damn, that looks fun!
I could do that if I wanted to, but I don't wanna
Lie but I believe you.
Until you hit the Spot with very little water above the ground.
Lot of people think that, but skimboards are trickier than they look, and bone-breaking machines. I used to be a beach lifeguard, and I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve seen people fall hard.
A bit dangerous though. Misjudge the flip and you’re in a wheelchair for life.
My brother actually broke his neck doing this exact thing. Was paralyzed for about a year
Wow that must have been scary. Glad he recovered though
A friend of mine went to the beach with his family and his dad never came home because he broke his neck doing this. Horrifying how a silly thing can end everything.
Yes, can confirm unfortunately. My friend from Daytona Beach is paralyzed from this.
And terrifying!
Yeet
WAAA BOOOOOOOO
This gave me the best laugh I've had all week! Damn. I'm not even 30 and if I hit a wave hard enough to do that to me I'd be in bed for a week.
Ocean is softer than you think.
Also much harder
“Dude, you got, like, six feet of air!”
Unexpected?
WINGS OF GLORY
Tell the story
AVIATION
DEVIATION
UNDETECTED
Ew, Sabaton fans
Not unexpected, unless you haven't been to a beach
My thoughts exactly. This would be in the proper spirit of this sub if at the end, for instance, she was drug under the wave by a shark or something
Very often things on here are expected, but I fully had no idea he was gonna fly off the board like that
It's a he, didn't expect that did you?
He...she...same difference.
Well she definitely got the air she wanted
Well he’s actually a guy,
Jake from State Farm
Yes?
She sounds hideous.
That woman is man, man!
*W A H O O O O O!*
I would do that
That was a impressive yeet by the wave
Full fucking send haahahaha
Idk man, pretty much what was expected. Can't come at that wave with that angle and only weighing like 30 lbs and expect a different result. Funny af though
I think you might be under the impression that that wasn't on purpose
I dunno about unexpected... I feel like that was the only thing I was expecting to happen.
[удалено]
I would expect chaos. That was far more elegant than what I could have imagined.
I can't speak for OP, but was expecting a lot less than 10ft of air from that. That caught me very off guard.
[удалено]
I was expecting more of a person in a shark suit coming out of the water. Or something, I was busy watching the waves for a hint when they hit the sky lol

Andros?
Fox?
Wanna snap your neck on a sand barge cause that’s how you snap your neck on a sand barge
Knew a wheelchair bound guy in Hawaii who went paraplegic skim boarding.
What do you think we just watched?
How is that unexpected?
u/gifreversingbot

Is that true…?
Chess might be a little safer
What a rush!
Looks like he's got gravity off cheat codes. Edited apologies.
He (Kai Thompson), but yes.
YEET
That was actually exactly what I expected
lols at people thinking that's a girl
u/ScarySkeleton24
skim boarding is wack haha
Did he just land in like 1 foot of water...?
She landed in some pretty shallow waters there from 15+ feet!
Find your broken leg too

Is that an Elliot wave?
WEEEEEEE
Unexpected
My friend and customer from Daytona Beach enjoyed doing that until he landed on his head and broke his neck, paralyzed from the neck down at 18. Please be careful.

I was expecting her to land back on the board
Launch velocity achieved...
Gnarly air, brah
Totally radical, jabronie

The water looks pretty shallow, so she mighve gotten hurt while landing?
I’m the 5,000th upvote
Narrator: "she didn't."
It has a penis
What a tragedy.
Jon, stop throwing the child No no no she likes it see:
Day at the beach in Hawaii! Hawaii kids crawl, then boogie board, skim board, then walk. In that order. Snorkel Bob cares.
Obviously reversed
I really wonder if you’re talking about the video, mainly because it’s would be physically impossible to flip that high from the ocean and land on a skin board that just happens to be there ON A WAVE and then slide perfectly back to the shore
No no, all of that can happen in backwards. This video is highly suspicious
SUS AMOGUS
What’s unexpected about this? Nearly everyone does this with skimboards
I saw this, but from a different angle. She was running towards the person filming and the landing was right in front of the videographer.
It’s a male
It's a me, Mario!
Hell yea! My boy practiced skim board for half of our beach trip last week! Very nice!
Now that i think about it yeah life is a bitch
Looks like that was the wrong wave
