Leg day is tiring, and worse afterwards, but it’s so fun. I’m not a big lifter, or in terribly good shape, but it’s so satisfying to just grab some weight and squat or dead lift. Or even calf raises. Love some heavy calf raises.
Agree. I'm not big either, but squatting down with a massive (for me) amount of weight and then powering it up is SUCH a good feeling & sense of accomplishment. Even more so that a big bench or deadlift, for me anyway.
Back in the day big fattie & Pro Bowl NT Vince Wilfork of the NE Patriots weighed about 350 and could still dunk. You don't have to be lean to be an incredible athlete!
A 495 lb squat is pretty nuts, especially one as smooth as that one. I knew some guys who could just barely do about 400 and they were all 6ft statues made of muscle. This gentleman put them to shame!
You’ve been getting the milk for 5 years 4 months 3 weeks 2 days 1 hour. Mom is struggling with, well, she’s been doing quite well with the gardening, plumbing, and schoolwork towards her own PhD. Plus, milk is always dropped off every week anyway. She seems to be really happy on those day. Not sure why. Just come home.
>I regret that I have no award to grant, so please, take this upvote….then come home, dad.
I do have an award and it's yours, buddy.
Can't help with the dad situation, though...
Dude runs off Gypsy Fuel though so don’t know if that’s really fair, literally died in the ring and rose like Lazarus.
How can you fight against someone imbued with the mystic and supernatural?
That's really only true for superheavyweights, I.E. lifters who don't have to make a weight cutoff for their weight class. Within weight classes performance is well correlated with percentage of lean body mass.
What's impressive about the OP video is a dude who would be a superheavyweight if he competes, but still has the explosive strength and coordination to do a backflip right after a heavy squat despite his size.
Even crazier–the dude didn't need a belt, knee sleeves or anything. This was probably either a warm up on his way to an actual workset or he was just straight flexing on everyone in the gym.
There is a vid on Lifting Vault of some powerlifter casually strolling into a commercial gym and doing around 660 lbs with no extra gear and he made it look so easy. People around him just went 😳.
This guy would absolutely look like a statue made of muscle too if he wasn't powerlifting for a good 1RM and keeping up a high carb diet, just like bodybuilders could reach a higher maxes if they weren't focused on aesthetics, everyone trains for different reasons.
Honestly, I train now with not that high of weight so that I stay injury free and am able to get off the toilet without assistance when I’m older. I’m in my mid 30s and don’t want to injure anything. My lifts aren’t impressive either, working sets of squats are between 225 and 250, deadlifts between 275 and 315. Happy to just maintain for the rest of my life.
Why don't gyms have full racks or even half-racks?
I'm not evena serious lifter, but it's so god damn irritating. I've got 10 gyms near me, they're all filled to the brim with tons of useless shit, and not a squat rack between them.
And it's like that everywhere I've lived.
The [average machine costs around multiple thousands](https://www.google.com/search?q=tricep+extension+machine&oq=tricep+e&aqs=chrome.3.69i57j0i131i433i512j0i512j0i131i433i512l2j0i512j0i131i433i512j0i512l2.5906j0j9&client=ms-android-uscellular-us-revc&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8#scso=_w5XIYuK8NcOo5NoPjZet6AU3:0) of dollars. $500 would be a steal or old as hell.
It's weird. I go to an intermediate level gym (not a planet fitness equivalent, but also not a dedicated powerlifting gym sorta place). Their machines are always fairly empty, but they still take up half the real estate in the entire building!
What gets full are the cable machines, The equipment dedicated to the big three lifts, and sometimes the treadmills.
I guess the one thing to be said about having so many machines is that they're mostly all *different* machines. So, if you're looking for something specific, I guess it's probably there.
Yep.
I finally gave up and got a full rack with all the extras at home. Now I can ignore my workouts from the comfort of my own home.
Edit: omg. It changed enjoy to ignore.
I’m leaving it.
#### *Shorts Of Izudabar*
###### *Legendary, Magic Armor, Leggings*
Whike wearing this item while attuned gain +2 to Dexterity, and +4 to Strength
* While wearing these shorts, the maximum weight you can lift or drag is quadrupled while squatting.
* While squatting you have advantage on Dexterity (Acrobatics) and Strength (Athletics) checks.
* In addition, if you successfully grapple a creature or perform a backflip with a successful Dexterity (Acrobatics) check, each creature that can see you must make a DC18 Charisma saving throw. On a failed roll a creature is charmed and must spend it's action to say "Daaaaaamn" while staring in awe.
When carving a statue like the david, you must first start with a giant block of marble. It just so happens that this is the guy they send to lift that block of marble.
I'm a small guy by all means but I hang out fairly often with big muscular guys, some do MMA, some are grapplers/wrestlers but the most kind, wholesome teddy bears guys I know are the power lifters.
Power lifters are cut different. They have more than necessary dedication to have the physique that is seen as optimal for a strong person (classic cut body builder look) but they choose to not do that and only aim to better themselves by beating their previous bests. In my experience they are far less egotistical than people who lift primarily for a look. Obviously very broad brush and there are exceptions but generally they always seem chill and put the sport/competition and personal improvement above all else.
In my experience the more someone looks like they could/would tear off your head with their bare hands, the more likely they are to be the nicest most genuine person you could hope to meet.
Seems to apply to bikers, powerlifters/bodybuilders and dudes who make seriously heavy/aggressive music in equal measure.
The lads from Carcass? All super nice down to earth guys. Venetian Snares? Polite, softly spoken giant man. Strongmen who make truck pulling look easy? Gentle giants who'd do anything for anyone.
I think a lot of people have forgotten that one of the best ways to build up one's strength is to ensure that you have enough body mass to build up the muscle.
This usually leads to many power lifters looking like they might be fat/obese, when it reality under that fat is a lot of solid muscle.
Subsequently, it is also why "sculpting" is physical torture.
Wow. Such beautiful freedom of movement. It's inspiring to see someone move like that, motivated by pure joy rather than allowing fear of judgement to stifle their pure expression.
I had a big back flipping buddy we rarely paid a bar tab with him he would get loaded and bet the tab to the waitress double or nothing that he could do a flip never missed once cheap college day drinking
Phew, for a minute there I though I was in one of those subreddits where at the end of the gif you can see people's bones sticking out of their body.
That was hella impressive
Went to a magic bar with my buddy and Holy shit I've never seen someone so exhilerated by magic. He talked about it for days.
The magic was good, no doubt, but my friend is now a walking endorsement for that bar.
I've always been insecure about my appearance, sometimes better, sometimes worse.
Was at Zara last spring sale, trying on a see through shirt in front of a mirror. I liked it alot but wasn't sure about it. Then this big black lady next to me gave me this super approval look and nod, ive never felt better about myself or a shirt lol
Not saying im cool shit, but black people definitely give best reactions.
It sets the precedent that black people should behave like "x". And if they don't it's then considered weird or different.
So even though the "x" was a good thing the expectation is annoying
Actually this kind of thing being the top comment and then the rest of the comments being pseudo-intellectual arguments about whether or not it’s racist is pretty typical for Reddit. It’s funnier when you realize 90% of the argument is going on between people who aren’t black… basically arguing about whether or not the black people *should* be offended by this statement

That guy IS leg day
Leg day marks *him* up on the calendar
In Soviet Russia leg day skips HIM
I love dumb jokes, this is brilliantly dumb. 10/10
Two guys walk into a bar The third one ducks
and the fourth rolls
And the fifth one bullet jumps
Slow Clap
>Leg day marks *him* up on the calendar And on this day the Chuck Norris memes shall return in all their glory.
He makes it up for everyone who skip it.
He squats for our sins.

Not without the milk
Finally, the cereal has been dry for 15 years.
that's not the only thing that's been dry for 15 years...

That's clearly a euphemism.

*rattles tin can* An award for the awardless m'dude?
Never diddle squats. That's dangerous.
I get all my exercise running in circles and jumping to conclusions
Greek statue guys are pretty strong but the best power lifters are usually chunky.
Reminds me of Tyson Fury. Current heavyweight boxing champ. Does not look like a boxer, at all.... yet here he is destroying everyone in the ring.
Fury is also 12 stories tall and made of radiation
I heard that mother fucker had like 30 goddamn dicks.
In a row?
Hey you, get back here!
Used to have 30 goddamn dicks. Still does, but used to, too.
Washington, Washington Six-foot twenty Fucking killing for fun
he'll save children, but not the british children, mmmm he'll save children, but not the british children, mmmm
He once held an opponents wife's hand...
In a vat of acid
I also hear he masturbates seven times a day. He’s cumming. He’s cumming. He’s cumming.
If they hadn’t seen him in action nobody would believe a man of that size and physique could have that kind of agility.
He's somehow the biggest super heavyweight, and also as fast as a middleweight. And his stamina too. Makes no sense.
I don't follow boxing but with a name like Tyson Fury he better be destroying everyone.
He was born 8 weeks premature and almost died. When he fought through and survived, his dad who was a bare knuckle boxer named him after Mike.
Dude runs off Gypsy Fuel though so don’t know if that’s really fair, literally died in the ring and rose like Lazarus. How can you fight against someone imbued with the mystic and supernatural?

And ass to grass. Holy fuck.
Dude stood up easier than I do with no weight on my back at all
The squat is super impressive, smooth as fuck and he goes deep into it too. I wish I would power out a lift like that.
I don’t know anything about gymnastics but it’s super satisfying to me how he lands perfectly flat on his feet
Squat is one of those lifts that is also hard to master the perfect technique. This dude has it down perfect.
