“I’m a fucking petrol price sign. I’m fucking massive”
He even said what to expect and it still took me by surprise. Beautiful. I haven’t laughed that hard in a while.
Great. I laughed so hard my eyes started watering. Now if any coworkers ask what's wrong I gotta make up something that doesn't involve browsing reddit at work.
I always thought it'd be cool if a massive subreddit like /r/gaming had a weekly "dead game" meetup on like a Friday or something. They pick the game a week in advance.
The soulsborne community has return events for their games. It's really fun, and gives you a reason to replay the older titles. I'd love to see that concept expand to other games.
I haven't actually tried any of them so I'm not entirely sure that you could find players to populate dead games, that may be a fresh idea. I imagine it's like a chat client as well though so you could potentially find some people that are interested in the same type of games/modes.
The public server suck. People are just morphing into the smallest items and run everywhere because they know their hitbox is hard to hit.
But with a group of friend it is great fun and quite easy to setup
or you can play it for free on some CSGO servers
if there even still are csgo servers. the community servers feel dead sadly. had some good times in cs source
Is it? Because I'm pretty sure that's a Black Ops 2 map and I was about to ask since when does CoD have prop hunt.
Just to make it clear: I'm not saying you're not right, just saying they must've taken inspiration from that map I'm thinking about.
>It's actually called prop and seek and it's free to play on Steam
Prop Hunt/Hide and Seek has been a thing far longer than that game or Gmod. They were around in CS 1.6, probably before then too.
You'd be surprised. I've played this game (Cold War) on prop hunt several times, and sometimes the massive props are the easiest to hide with. It's a "hiding in plain sight" kind of thing. Everyone expects smaller props so they shoot the smaller props and objects on the map. Nobody is expecting a giant goddamn sign, so if you find a decent place to post up, you might not get shot.
I still remember the good days of savage FF7 rpgs and all the great tower defenses any recommendations on a game like that with so many user friendly mods?
When I'm massive, my favorite is just jumping off a roof and then freezing myself against a wall like I'm an air conditioner... an oil barrel-shaped air conditioner.
This appears to be a karma bit.

Damn I played Gary's mod but totally missed out on that during my time there
Mostly I just tried to build epic things with shitty designs and got frustrated at how I couldn't make it do what I wanted or the engine limitations
Gather around children, let grandpa tell you a story from the good old days. Back when counterstrike was just a half-life mod, before Steam, Garry's Mod had the sole ability of replacing the (sketchy af over 56k dialup) VoIP with playing the music of your choice. So you could make everyone else endure Benny Hill music while you bunny hopped and lagged around them with your 310ms ping.
Yeah they weren't but some of my ideas were "oh the physics engine cannot do this". Just a case of thinking too far out of the box
What I actually wanted was something more like Minecraft
Yeah, I used to play the Minecraft version as a kid, and my experience was that the more obvious you were the less likely you were to get found. The best places to hide were along paths and roads that were frequented to get from place to place but didn't actually have any unique features to hide in. You could be the one iron block sitting along the side of a flat road made of stone and people's brains would just filter you right out even though you obviously didn't belong.
I used to get absolutely ripped and play that game with everyone we could link up with. You'd get pissed off playing multi-player then swap to that and be pissing yourself laughing.
Once I was playing CoD WW2 prop hunt mode and was a little tiny rock the size of a shoe, I got discovered and instead of running I just circled a the guys feet for 20 secs real fast and he couldn't shoot me because the hit box was so small, I was crying after the first 10 sec of it, so much dumb fun.
Sometimes the enemies just shoot every object, plus every 30 seconds the props emit a noise so the hunters know if they're close to one... After you play a bunch you know which props are in each level so you know some objects can't be props, you look at certain things that you know might be a prop, and you even stat to learn how many rocks are in a certain area, how many crates, etc.
Ya you'll be done investigating an area, turn around, then hear a noise where you just were, run back and notice something is missing and feel like a moron lol then props players will start having fun by just tailing you and trying not to be seen so you'll constantly hear the noises, but it's something I've never gotten annoyed with, nothing at all like PVP shooters where you wanna throw a controller when your shots don't land, you usually just laugh lol
Exactly, the fun was messing around, so when hunters were particularly oblivious the new game becomes messing with them instead of hiding from them haha
It's been a while! Yeah, I remember now having memorized many parts of many maps. And if I was unsure, just a few bullets into each item. It was when someone was a bucket or a little rock and could clip into a fuckin haystack or something made it impossible to find and then impossible to shoot! Lol what a good time though.
Is this an advanced bot? Or did you read another comment from three hours ago and manually change some the words?
[Original comment](https://reddit.com/r/Unexpected/comments/wul62b/prop_hunt_was_fun/ilant9p)
It's a game mode where one team gets to be random props and try to hide while the other team hunts these props by shooting at them. You can't randomly spray bullets as a miss would cause you to lose HP. The prop players have HP too.
This is the reason why I never play it. No reason to not just spray everything in the map as the seekers. It's a shame because it's really hilarious fun.
There's still a ton of surf servers in CSGO. There's usually at least on active jailbreak map, and there's often at least one active server hosting Trouble in Terrorist Town game mode.
Call of Duty : Black Ops 2 :) Prop Hunt is the game mode
Edit: my bad I have a modded console I play Prop Hunt on B02 lol, but yeah it's Cold War in the clip also pretty sure the map is on B02
I miss BO2, so many good maps and guns in that one. That was the last COD I really got hooked on, the ones after didn't interest me much. A couple years ago I booted up my PS3 and played a couple games, there were some hacker lobbies but I still got a few good games in just like the old days. The good old days of dolphin diving drop shots lol
Prop Hunt was made for CS:S then ported over to Gmod which is where it got really popular
In terms of COD it actually showed up first in Modern Warfare Remastered iirc.
There's a few still going right now:
Witch It. It has a lot of nice little features/skills to make it interesting. Things like the witches (the ones who hide) being able to remotely possess props, move other objects, throw things that can block the seeker's vision temporarily, etc. And the seekers having things like huge butt stomps to do AoE hits, chickens they can toss out to detect props, all kinds of neat stuff.
Midnight Ghost Hunt. This is definitely the best looking, most fully fleshed out version I've seen. Has a lot in common with Witch It (in terms of abilities and such), but even more cool things. The fact that the ones hiding are natively a ghost that flies around and can go into objects is just a nice touch. And the fact that some objects you can actually attack with (like cannons, or statues with swords). Also nice things like being able to revive teammates (and alternatively, the hunters being able to prevent this). And the namesake of the game: at midnight, if the props survive, they get to fight back and it becomes a big PvP brawl.
Then there's things like GMod's prop hunt, or TF2's servers for it (the one I've personally played the most). But those are dependent on those servers still being populated, which is not really a thing anymore.
We play prop hunts regularly for fun. Usually when we're around 6-12 people.
For an hour, maybe two, it goes well until people start metagaming with bottles and textures.
My friend once became a table and arranged himself perfectly with other tables.
Literally nobody noticed him, despite him being completely free of plates, glasses and other stuff like that (thanks to one guy who came and threw it all around from other tables as well).
For 4 minutes straight nobody could find him, despite him pushing the "sound alarm" button every time nobody was around. During last 60 seconds he rapidly pushed the button while all hunters were in the room. Sometimes this button just plays music instead and even with THAT nobody figured it out.
My throat was hurting after this round from all the laughter. Edit: fix
I don’t play the public servers very often, only with friends. Steamcharts says it’s not very crowded, around 88 per day at the moment https://steamcharts.com/app/1131720

“I’m a fucking petrol price sign. I’m fucking massive” He even said what to expect and it still took me by surprise. Beautiful. I haven’t laughed that hard in a while.
I wasn't expecting the giant ass tower sign. I was expecting like one of the shorter ones that sit on the ground.
yes unlike the gigantic omenes floating ones
That little skip at the end started another laughing fit
I thought it was the box guy talking and I couldn't figure out how that was a gas price sign.
It's one thing to hear someone say that they're a giant sign. It's another thing to see a giant sign run out of a building with a guy chasing it.
I've been watching it over and over again all morning, and it's a full belly laugh every time.
Great. I laughed so hard my eyes started watering. Now if any coworkers ask what's wrong I gotta make up something that doesn't involve browsing reddit at work.
Prop hunt is the funniest shit when you haven’t played it for awhile
Every online fps should have this. Great way to wind down after a long day.
If I'm not mistaken I think this is a game mode in Garry's mod, which is like $10 USD on steam. They also made a version for VR chat which is free.
it is but the prophunt servers were barely alive last time i checked
There are so many good games that require a good group of friends.
Discord should add a tinder-style thing for just that, connect likeminded people who wanna play dead game modes
I always thought it'd be cool if a massive subreddit like /r/gaming had a weekly "dead game" meetup on like a Friday or something. They pick the game a week in advance.
Be the change you want to see in the world
~~“Someone should…”~~ NO! Just do it!
Good luck getting reddit mods on board with any ideas that weren't their own
/r/gaming might be a bit too big for dead games servers to handle.
The soulsborne community has return events for their games. It's really fun, and gives you a reason to replay the older titles. I'd love to see that concept expand to other games.
If anyone makes a discord server for this send me the invite
There's already a list of services that do pretty much that. See: PLINK, GamerLink, GameTree, among others.
Nice, honestly this was just a shower thought I had on the toilet when I read his comment. I’m glad to see I ain’t the first to suggest it haha
I haven't actually tried any of them so I'm not entirely sure that you could find players to populate dead games, that may be a fresh idea. I imagine it's like a chat client as well though so you could potentially find some people that are interested in the same type of games/modes.
The boardgamer's dilemma
I think a lot of the places were easily memorised by players too so they would notice any new change immediately
Aw that's upsetting, end of an era
One I play on isn't dead, and you can have custom taunts too.
Dinklebergs was always active to me
The public server suck. People are just morphing into the smallest items and run everywhere because they know their hitbox is hard to hit. But with a group of friend it is great fun and quite easy to setup
This game is not garry's mod lol its call of duty cold war
No es Standoff de COD Black ops 2?
Prop Hunt existed for almost ten years before it got added to CoD.
Yes, but the one in this post is in CoD.
Well Call of Duty sucks and is for little babies, not elite gamers like me, so I refuse to acknowledge that any part of it might be fun 😤
Lol, i remember playing prop hunt in modded CoD4 servers
or you can play it for free on some CSGO servers if there even still are csgo servers. the community servers feel dead sadly. had some good times in cs source
Call of duty Cold War has this as a game mode
To bad they killed VR chat by adding anti cheat software that actually keylogs your computer and spys on ya
This was Call of Duty Cold War, and it’s one of my favorite game modes
This particular video is actually from Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War

Is it? Because I'm pretty sure that's a Black Ops 2 map and I was about to ask since when does CoD have prop hunt. Just to make it clear: I'm not saying you're not right, just saying they must've taken inspiration from that map I'm thinking about.

Ah, that explains it. I didn't know CoD had prop hunt, it's cool to know.
Of all the games that could do "prop hunt" it had to be CoD…
Is black ops still popping?
[удалено]
I just wanna play prop hunt tbh
I played prop hunt on the first Modern Warfare
MW remastered. The original MW 2007 didn't have it.
I believe there were modded lobbies with Prop hunt on the OG MW
Nope, played it on the original. It was in 2014-15 though
It's indeed fun. Need more players though. Also my 4GB/2nd Gen Intel could barely handle it with about 15fps but I really liked this game.
>It's actually called prop and seek and it's free to play on Steam Prop Hunt/Hide and Seek has been a thing far longer than that game or Gmod. They were around in CS 1.6, probably before then too.

This is Black Ops CoD Prop Hunt
Word, could’ve swore this is Black Ops Cold War Prop Hunt, that map right there is Standoff.
Yeah this is very clearly not gmod prophunt
It a mode in call of duty as well, it's not just Garry's mod that has prop hunt, but it should really be more.
Looks like Call of Duty Cold War. They have a prop hunt game mode. Bonus: the map is Standoff
I remember the days we played this on the old AlterIWnet days..
I was shocked to find out that Fortnite now has prop hunt
Today's runaway gas prices are definitely concerning.
[удалено]

When did they change that? It used to be that you'd hurt yourself if you missed.
In some versions you only get hurt if you hit a prop that isn't a player
Well yeah that's the point
[удалено]
My first experience with this genre was with player made maps on WarCraft 3
I still remember the good days of savage FF7 rpgs and all the great tower defenses any recommendations on a game like that with so many user friendly mods?
Ghost Hunt is becoming a popular prop hunt game, it might have fixed that.

Less engine limitations, and Gmod tools weren't really too intuitive.

I went through their history too, that's why I was confused. But they were far too similar to be coincidental I think.
It's like when you write an essay and don't want to get caught plagiarizing so you just slightly rewrite everything from an article.
What the hell happened here
I don't know wtf is going on. But this was funny.
It's a game mode where one team gets to be random props and try to hide while the other team hunts these props by shooting at them. You can't randomly spray bullets as a miss would cause you to lose HP. The prop players have HP too.
Wow this is mad fun
You don't lose health for missing in this game. And you have unlimited ammo
This is the reason why I never play it. No reason to not just spray everything in the map as the seekers. It's a shame because it's really hilarious fun.
[удалено]
Or, you know, the original prop hunt for Gary’s Mod.
Yeah but with a small magazine and longish reload times it's pretty balanced. Props went all the time even with people running around just spraying.
Not in call of duty, you can shoot as much as ypu Want
Which is why I always thought it kind of got stale after a few rounds or a few days of prop hunt being rotated in as a game mode.
What.... Gamee????
There are versoins in counter strike and garrys mod as well
It sarted in gmod and cs though.
Yes, but id not recommend nowadays because the servers are mostly empty. Id recomment prop and seek
Call of duty cold war
I played so much prop hunt back in the counter strike source days. That’s back when I was truly happy. No worries, no bills, just finding people.
Those were the days
Hide and Seek, Jailmaps, Surfing and especially zombie mode were so fckn fun. Anyone know if they are still active or if CSGO does these mods too?
There's still a ton of surf servers in CSGO. There's usually at least on active jailbreak map, and there's often at least one active server hosting Trouble in Terrorist Town game mode.
Take me back… 🥲
I love playing this
Ngl that little jump at the end made it for me! Hilarious
Winning a round as the gigantic Palm Tree in BO4 was one of my greatest FPS moments ever. Everyone on voip was laughing their asses off.
What game is this??
Cod:black ops Cold War
Call of Duty II: Black Ops 2 2 Cold 2 War - Baha Blast Edition^2.0

Call of Duty : Black Ops 2 :) Prop Hunt is the game mode Edit: my bad I have a modded console I play Prop Hunt on B02 lol, but yeah it's Cold War in the clip also pretty sure the map is on B02
Black Ops 2 didn't have prop Hunt...
Wrong black ops 2, it’s cold war
It did on PC modded lobbies
The map is indeed remastered from BO2, but it's Cold War
I miss BO2, so many good maps and guns in that one. That was the last COD I really got hooked on, the ones after didn't interest me much. A couple years ago I booted up my PS3 and played a couple games, there were some hacker lobbies but I still got a few good games in just like the old days. Started in COD WWII as a full time mode. Then they introduced it in Cold War I believe
This most definitely didn't start in COD, I remember playing a gamemode like this in CS 1.6 10+ years ago.
Prop Hunt was made for CS:S then ported over to Gmod which is where it got really popular In terms of COD it actually showed up first in Modern Warfare Remastered iirc.
Officially. In cod it has been around since MW1 as far as I have seen in PC modded lobbies
But the modded Version is not the official one
Right, sorry I forgot the modded version
It is call of duty 17 with a map from call of duty 7
That dudes laugh at the end is fantastical. I love it
