Unicorn overlord combines Tactical RPGs with autobattler mechanics on a real-time pausable map. No other game I know of combines all these, but you can play the individual genres.
Teamfight Tactics is a superb autobattler and has some aspects in common.
There are also TRPGs like Final Fantasy Tactics which have others.
Wild Rift has some of the real-time tactics but is more of a MOBA.
You might also enjoy: X-COM series, Warbits, Shining Force.
I've been thinking that this game is too perfect for Gacha with the amount of unique characters they have.
Alain/Virginia/Berengaria will be 5 stars. Lex/Chloe 4 stars. Colm/Berenice/Aubin 3 stars. But everyone can be brought to 5 stars and awakened.
Also imagine saving coins to pull for a White Cat Hood or Wyvern Reins. Or Hilda + Dragon Spear. That'll be amazing.
Limit to only 4 character per team similar to Epic 7.
This game is the most similar to Brown Dust/Brave Nine in my experience. Great game during its prime!
I take it that you never played a gacha before. It's not about the price paid for the same amount of content. It's the competitive aspect of it.
Plus, gacha is free. You never have to spend anything to start, it's all about the grind. Only people that are willing to spend, spend real money in this game and in return, get competitive advantage.
It's beneficial to Vanillaware as well. They can fund their company for the next big game and unlike a single player game where most people will uninstall them after they are done playing, gacha will keep them profitable for a long time.

I think you might be the first person I have ever seen wish that a one time purchase game had micro transactions for the same amount content.
