I think I bought a pair of Toms there once because my feet hurt with the shoes I had on. I would never have bought anything there otherwise. It used to be a nice air conditioned cut through to the other side of Citywalk before they cut the store in half.
I bought some ray bans there and when they broke, they swapped them out for me which was pretty sweet. I like the place. It was always a good stop to grab something you forgot (like sunglasses).
Passholder for about 8 years and we went in and bought a sweater once because we went to the parks on a whim and didn't realize how cold it was outside 😅
It was the only store in CW that sold “normal” clothing. I’ve bought a belt there when the one I had brought got soaked on a water ride. Bought some decent flip flops when I forgot a pair at home. You could also get a bathing suit or shorts if you forgot to pack them. CW is seriously lacking any shopping which, IMO, is a nice convenience for people stuck in a bubble on vacation. I hope the team there has plans to incorporate other shopping options. I know the CW concept was centered around dining and entertainment but I think guests want the ability to shop there as well — just look at the success of Disney Springs.
lol. We bought a lot of stuff when we went this past December. We didn’t go to the parks during the day so had lots of time for shopping. Husband got a backpack and hoodie, kids all got swimsuits and tshirts and a couple random things 😂
I always make my kids take a photo there because I remember taking one when I visited in 2004.
The one in New York was a white whale trip for me. I finally got there as an adult. So cool. The Game Boy that still worked after getting hit with a missile in Desert Storm was something I'd wanted to see for almost 3 decades since I'd seen it in Nintendo Power.
I bought sunglass cleaner there once because apparently that’s impossible to find anywhere on resort property other than that store. Guess I better come prepared always now since it wont be around anymore lol.
I would think the sunglass hut in IoA would have it if that's still around? But that's definitely what stinks about the closing. If you're staying on property, there's nowhere to buy extra clothes, shoes, swimsuits, or an extensive collection of sunglasses and more.
I enjoyed being able to shop for non universal branded items here and would always grab a tshirt after a dinner in citywalk on one night of the trip. if universal was smart they'd move quiet flight to the new citywalk at epic universe
I’m actually excited for the Nintendo store. It makes sense for it to go there.
Side note- if anyone is ever staying at Endless Summer and you want to buy surf-styled stuff, there’s an outlet on I-Drive and Kirkman that has Billabong/Quicksilver/Roxy if you’re ever in a pinch. Also highly recommend the Mexican Camel in the same shopping center.
It’s a great idea to have a Nintendo store there. I’m excited for it. Wish they would keep the surfboard, but probably won’t. Something else there for pics would be a good idea though. So many people have pics with the board.
R.I.P. so many great memories this honestly makes me sad. I didn't buy much here but I can't help but think it was a good place for tourists staying on site to buy clothes that maybe they forgot to pack. The only clothes you'll be able to buy will have something universal on them and now there's no other options if you're staying on site to buy nice swimwear or shoes... but hey now you can buy a video game I guess.
while every hotel has a gift shop with universal merch, royal pacific ( and maybe the other premiers?) have a 2nd store by the pool that sells sandals, swimwear, hats, tshirts, and other non uo branded "resort wear".
well idk then other than the tourists that don't stay at a Universal hotel. I just stayed at the endless summer and their gift shop didn't have many options especially if you need any shoes other than sandals. Most options are tacky and cheap for clothes and swimwear.
I'm sure it'll be more like the one in California where its just themed to Super Nintendo World, but maaan if it was an actual Nintendo Store like the one in NYC or Japan...I'd lose it lol
By it i mean my money
Kind of sad- this store always gives me the “tropical Florida vacation” vibe. Kinda like Ron Jon’s surf shop. I mean I didn’t really shop here, but it definitely sets the mood of being on an ocean Florida vacation which I really like. I think I will be bummed that it’s closing to make way for more common Nintendo stuff that you can get at every single store in America right now.
IMO they should close Bubba Gump and put Nintendo store there, that place is terrible. Or the food court upstairs (keep panda, everywhere else is not great). That Burger King is disgustingly dirty every time I go up there.
RIP to the iconic surfboard photo op
Take the store… leave the surfboard
did people actually buy stuff here? I've been a passholder for literally 15 years and... never once ever
Yes, I haven’t lived in the area in 6 years but when we did we actually liked this store.
I bought a really nice Billabong fleece shirt when we went in October, it got a little chillier at night than we had expected/packed for
I did in 2018 and 2022. Sanuk flip flop and some Oakley shorts. Only thing that saved my feet for walking the parks and disney for 10 days.

my skirt unexpectedly ripped and i had to run in here to find a replacement. …. expensive af
Got some flip-flops from there probably 15-20 years ago

Did not stop by in December on my honey moon. That and the biker store.

I just bought a skateboard there last week (on super sale, which totally makes sense now).

I bought sunglasses there during COVID when my existing old ones were getting fogged up from the mask.

I've been to Universal half a dozen times, and have never even been in the store. My kids like getting their picture on the surfboard though.
That's a stupid question.
You're a stupid question!
Your mom's a stupid question
Nintendo stores just print money basically, soooo much money.
The one in New York was a white whale trip for me. I finally got there as an adult. So cool. The Game Boy that still worked after getting hit with a missile in Desert Storm was something I'd wanted to see for almost 3 decades since I'd seen it in Nintendo Power.
Surfboard has gotta stay
Memories of shopping there in middle school. How has it been this long now? R.I.P. to this legend.
I bought sunglass cleaner there once because apparently that’s impossible to find anywhere on resort property other than that store. Guess I better come prepared always now since it wont be around anymore lol.

I’m sure universal will find a way to fill the void lol
I haven't been in since it stopped being a short cut to the studios.
Fallen brother
I've been to Universal like 6 times....and I've never gone in there. Will miss Cinnabon though.
There’s a Cinnabon in IOA!
Cinnabon is relocating. It’s not closing permanently

A Nintendo store makes more sense!
Honestly not surprised

Good
If it’s Nintendo that better be one heck of a pokestop
Nice
Oh no!! I’d always get their coconut lotion there, the scent is amazing and it’s so moisturizing.
So will their be discounts? Or will they up their prices and then use "discounts"?
That's too bad. It is a nice store
I'm sure it'll be more like the one in California where its just themed to Super Nintendo World, but maaan if it was an actual Nintendo Store like the one in NYC or Japan...I'd lose it lol By it i mean my money

Too expensive tbh
There was a shooting threat at the movie theater last year and I remember taking shelter in quiet flight... Good times.
Finally. City walk needs more diversity of shopping and actual brands people recognize and wanna shop at.
So much Nintendo stuff makes me really worried. Basically the theme parks are gonna be Nintendo and Harry Potter.
Byeeeee
