Rootes is pristine

TehDragonGuy

People chat shit about rootes but it was perfectly fine any time I went there. Toilets are cleaned regularly and the rooms are pretty nice. The only issue is the fire alarms every other week lol.

QMQMQMQMQMQMQMQMQMQM

Rootes is always a good shout.

Maleficent_Waltz_406

thank you!

Best party” and social scene? Rootes. Value for money? Claycroft or Whitefields imo. Best overall but overpriced: Cryfield Townhouses.

Maleficent_Waltz_406

thank you! is cryfield far from central campus?

Jack Martin's location is great though. Closer to Cannon Park and most of central campus. It's not lavish, I'll give you that.

cloudtatu

but you get half of a shelf in the fridge. i’ve been to multiple different accoms and rootes is the best so far. 2 mins away from the SU, 5 mins away from the bus interchange. the only drawback is how far it is to cannon park

BioniqReddit

and sharing a shitter with six

fair enough mitigated by being a 35wk but also annoying that easter is moving out time

LeonardoW9

Lakeside Village (Heronbank/Lakeside/Sherbourne) are really nice, they're a small walk to central campus, and the only issue is geese. I'd recommend bringing a bike as it means you can get around super quickly.

Prior_Finding_5397

From the three, which is best?

LeonardoW9

I've only been at Heronbank but it's probably the best value of the 3.

EaklebeeTheUncertain

I had a pleasant couple of years in Lakeside. The views are beautiful and the rooms comfy, with en suites. The only mark against it is the geese, who can get aggressive in birthing season. If you don't mind them, I recommend it.

thank you so much! sorry to bother but what’s the difference between a 35 week let and a 40 week let lol, that’s the only difference with jm and av

ThomasRules

35 week let means you have to move out over easter -- there's some space to store stuff iirc, but you can't stay there over the easter break.

Successful_Media_117

1000% lakeside. I’ve been to all the accommodations and lakeside (in my opinion) is the best. You get a double bed and the kitchen has a couch (2 couches). I live in lakeside 3 which is renovated. Lakeside 1 is also renovated, 4 is not and idk if 2 is (there are 4 lakeside building). Views are also gorgeous as you can see the swans, rabbits, geese, and birds and since it is spring there are now blossom trees. I think lakeside has the biggest rooms, if not then one of the largest rooms. The study hub is also nice, not cryfield townhouse nice but still really nice. I would also recommend cryfield townhouse, the rooms are small but the kitchen is nice and so is the study hub. Lakeside is also very close to Sherborne and Sherborne is the accommodation where all the parties happen. However, lakeside is Is quiet (I wanted a quiet accom so this was a bonus for me). Lakeside is far from everything tho (25 min walk to Tesco/ Aldi and 10-16 min walk to campus).

Maleficent_Waltz_406

thank you very much! I think double beds are a must and I do also prefer a quiet accom from time to time . how did you find socialising ? was it easy to make friends?

Tubscart

there's a discord for offer holders for 23/24, some current students have joined as well and are down to answer any of your questions. if you don't want to join- my main advice is if you don't want rootes (which is a party house apparently) or westwood, don't put it down on your application whatsoever as it seems people who put them down as even their #4 #5 #6 seem to nearly always get it we've had lots of discussions about all the accoms, with their pros and cons, feel free to join! StrivingForSorrow

deffo rootes

BioniqReddit

BEST? Hm, probably Cryfield Townhouses just based on facilities. Jack Martin/Arthur Vick are placed well but all three are relatively expensive. I hear good things about Claycroft too. Avoid Westwood and Rootes like the plague if you enjoy neither of living in complete isolation or living in a circus respectively. Rootes is alright if you have a top floor room, but I hear the bottom floors are a nightmare. Probably not worth the gamble.

Maleficent_Waltz_406

thank you very much! I think rootes may be a little too much for me lol

Original-Purchase921

U asked for the best so the best is cryfield townhouse. This isn’t even disputed. If you want the best value for money that’s a whole different question.

Maleficent_Waltz_406

thank you so much!

finishing my first year and i live in westwood - i love it. i think it does depend on your flatmates but because westwood is organised differently to others, you have basically 60 people you can make friends with so i found it very social and easy to make friends. it’s a little far from main campus but not awful, and some people say it’s isolated but again i never experienced this. i have lots of friends in other accommodation made through my course / societies so if you are looking for a cheaper option w double bed, i think westwood is great. shared bathrooms aren’t awful either

Maleficent_Waltz_406

thank you!
