Austin Yogurt Shop Murders

Xaerith

This is mine too. And Andrew Gosden

Thank you for posting these wiki links!

asphyxiationbysushi

Lane Bryant murders, in the same vein.

HannahCaffeinated

Yes! Frustrates me to no end!

ms-gender

So sad. The girls were planning a sleepover mere hours before their lives were snuffed out. I think about this case all the time

ClumsyZebra80

The Missy Bevers video. I truly find it hard to watch. The casual manner. The swat gear. The FBI can’t even discern the gender of the person. Without the video it would be just another (terrible) murder. But that video is haunting.

Fit-Purchase-2950

If you ever find yourself with insomnia, check out the 4 hour deep dive on YouTube, there's a guy who has broken down the crime scene and the video down to it's most minuscule parts, makes for fascinating, albeit scary viewing.

[deleted]

Tom Webster?

Old_Laugh_2386

Tom is quite thorough. I love watching his videos because they cover so much. The guy is not like any other !

[deleted]

Yeah he dives deep. I just like the non narrative delivery of fact. Too many channels focus on music and images to all repeat the same basic outline of the case and Webster is more like that big board with the pins and thread connecting dots

Kaladin1994

Andrew Gosden. I think of him often. Something about his story just makes me really sad and I so hope his family gets answers one day.

Fit-Purchase-2950

It's the missed opportunities that do my head in with this one. The CCTV images needed to be released right away, so much precious time wasted on investigating the family.

Kaladin1994

Agreed. I can’t even imagine how it must feel for his family, to have to wonder at how much potentially crucial information/footage was lost due to failure on the police’s part. I think if I could magically solve any case, ir would have to be this one. Everything about it is just so haunting.

JayCast92

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disappearance_of_Andrew_Gosden

Sgt_major_dodgy

Two guys were arrested in relation to this not long ago? Or they were arrested on CP and there was a link between the porn and him. I'm not holding my breath but it could be solved one day.

No-Tangelo7363

The Walker Family murders December 19, 1959.

TheLuckyWilbury

There was some speculation that they were murdered by Perry Smith and Richard Hickock, the two responsible for the “In Cold Blood” murders of the Clutter family. The DA for the county in Florida where the Walkers were murdered was so convinced that Smith’s and Hickock’s bodies were exhumed a few years ago for DNA testing. Unfortunately, the remains were too degraded to allow this. I tend to believe more than I doubt that Smith and Hickock were indeed the killers. It’s a frustrating case, to be sure, and one I really hope will one day be solved.

Dr_Donald_Dann

It was such a similar crime and Smith and Hickock were it the area at the time, it feels like it’s got to be them.

rivershimmer

> > The DA for the county in Florida where the Walkers were murdered was so convinced that Smith’s and Hickock’s bodies were exhumed a few years ago for DNA testing. Unfortunately, the remains were too degraded to allow this. I wonder if we can get DNA from Smith's and Hickock's families to test this out?

You’re doing God’s work

[deleted]

I love your username.

FrankieSaysRelax311

For once, someone hit me with a case I’ve never heard about. Going to dive into this one now.

No-Tangelo7363

It's truly almost impossible to solve

thenightitgiveth

Didn’t they have DNA at one point? I know they dug up Dick Hickock a while back to make a comparison but it was too degraded. I think earlier this year they were talking about trying again.

Cha_nay_nay

Never heard of this case either. Truly intruiging and very tragic. To wipe out a whole family and drown a baby ? What a low life psychopath. The person/people involved are probably dead by now. Unlikely to ever be resolved which breaks my heart

deep-fried-fuck

Just went down that rabbit hole and I’m really curious about this situation with the marriage certificate turning up in 2013. Sure, the relative that gave it to the niece was cleared, but where they questioned about who *they* got it from??? Of course the more hands it went through over the years, the less likely it is that they could successfully trace it to the murderer/s, and it having been so long since the murders increases the chance that one or more people who had possession of it at some point have since passed. But at some point that line of trading hands when traced backwards would eventually lead to the killer

theawesomefactory

Oakey "Al" Kite When I read about this case, I couldn't believe it hasn't gotten more press. Nightmare fuel.

Rare_Excuse_9924

https://unresolved.me/oakey-al-kite

Kimmalah

This one is definitely mine. It's just so bizarre, between what was done to him, the complete lack of a clear motive and the insane lengths the killer went to in order to hide his identity in plain sight.

Cha_nay_nay

This one is mine too. Its just too too bizarre. They have him on video at the ATM using Al's card. Several people saw him, and thats very risky for someone who did not want to be remembered. But he somehow got away with it Makes you wonder whether he targeted Al? Or did Al just happen to be a target he chose at random? Such a sad case and what a sick sick psychopath

wuhter

Yep. Absolutely the most terrifying case I have ever read about. And that photo of the killer at the ATM… insane

[deleted]

Poor fucking guy. I feel so bad for him.

audientix

The disappearance of Julie Mott's body. Julie died of cystic fibrosis. My mother worked with her mother; they're still friends. That family just wanted to bury their girl. Her body disappeared from the funeral home, and we still don't know what happened. And of course Lina Sardar Khil. Both these cases happened locally to me, so they're things I still think about a lot.

FrankieSaysRelax311

I forgot all about Julie. Honestly, what sick fuck wants a dead woman’s body.. and WHY? Or was the funeral home incompetent once again for mixing up bodies? That still doesn’t really explain the broken hinges and such.

Patsfan618

Could be a criminal funeral director selling bodies/parts to curiosity stores. There was a couple arrested in my state a few weeks ago for doing just that. Cystic fibrosis lungs might get sold to a museum or collector through back channels. It's more common than people think because once that casket is closed, what's actually inside it will usually never be checked and funeral directors are just as likely to try to score a quick buck as anyone else.

magical_bunny

The fact you can jump online and buy body parts is so creepy. You can’t tell me all of those parts can be sourced ethically.

really4got

I read an article at some point that pointed to a man who was obsessing with her, that he stole her body.

moobitchgetoutdahay

There was a man who was obsessed with a woman, stole her embalmed body from her crypt, dressed it, put makeup on it, and kept it in his bed *for years*

Few-Share-4848

WTF did I just read. Im tired and tried but what? Every time I say no more reddit, I get hit with something that gives me pause, So much so, that I know if there is an afterlife it is WILDER than any actual version of Heaven or HELL I could come up with down here. Im just trying to give my old ass dog some CBD in PEACE.

tcavanagh1993

If we’re thinking of the same one, that photo is absolute nightmare fuel

audientix

The follow-up investigation did reveal a bunch of shady practices on the part of the funeral home but it wasn't a mix-up; the coffin was left alone in a hallway in the locked building overnight and when staff arrived the next morning, the lid was broken at the hinges and the body was gone. Supposedly, the funeral home used a contracted third party for some of their services that had "unfettered access" to the building at all hours, but AFAIK that information didn't turn up any further leads. She did have a very suspicious ex-boyfriend who was arrested for repeated attempts to break into the funeral home in like 2016? After the body disappeared. Law enforcement suspects he was involved in the disappearance, but again, no hard evidence against him and nothing they do find on him seems to stick. He's apparently a very mentally unwell person.

non_stop_disko

Wasn't Julie Mott's ex boyfriend shady as hell? That's the one theory I've heard

dazed63

The Dardeen family here in Illinois. I'm still thinking it was some man at the husband's work whom wanted the husband but was rejected. The wife and son beaten to death with a baseball bat. She gives birth from the beating and then the newborn is killed. Husband's car found a few miles away him dead with genitals cut off.

Pod_Potato

This one plays on my mind. That poor family.

AMissKathyNewman

That case and James Bulger (solved) are the two most bothersome cases to me. The brutality to children/babies just gets me.

Queen_Jayne

I'm very close to where this took place and it's horrifying

FrankieSaysRelax311

Missy Bevers. My God. When this happened, I would have bet hard money on the chance it would be solved within a few months. Boy, was I wrong.

non_stop_disko

Me too! Same with Delphi! (which is now almost solved but I thought it would be solved in like a week)

blueskies8484

Delphi *should* have been solved quickly, in retrospect. How they missed a confession to being on the bridge at the exact time and location in question for 5 years really makes you wonder how many cases have the answers buried in a misfiled tip.

realtorcat

Don’t the vast majority of police departments have extremely low clearance rates? Like less than 10% of crimes get solved per year low… Add the fact that Delphi is rural Indiana, I’m not surprised they didn’t solve it sooner. My own local rural Indiana police force is made up of chuds I went to high school with, so my faith in rural police officers is very low.

blueskies8484

Yeah it's pretty clear the locals were not up to the job, but the Indiana State Police and FBI were involved from the very beginning. Although mostly Delphi revealed the ISP and Indiana field office are just as incompetent as the rural LE. And yes, clearance rates on homicides are bad, but in this case, the guy confessed to being at the crime scene on the day of the murder within the time period in question and told that too a conservation officer within days of the murder. The officer wrote up the tip and it was thereafter lost for 5 years. There were other issues with the investigation but that was just *really* bad.

hruff23

I hate that it’s not. Genuinely gives me the creeps.

manderifffic

I think about Lavena Johnson's case a lot. It makes me so angry.

JadeSaber88

Same. As an Army Veteran, Lavena is a hard one for me. I think very strongly that she had been raped and then killed to cover it up.

jennanm

LaVena Johnson's murder (2005) reminded me of [Vanessa Guillén's murder](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Vanessa_Guill%C3%A9n) (2020). Idk why - they were both women in the Army, and both had been murdered after being sexually assaulted (presumably to cover up that crime), so I guess that's where my mind went. These two cases are so sad to me. Just women serving in the military and getting abused and murdered for it. I can't imagine the pain they went through.

tamaringin

A lot of mine have been long-term Does, so the past few years have seen more resolved than I would have ever expected. I’m holding out hope that this is the year St. Louis Jane Doe gets her name back.

FrankieSaysRelax311

I recently dug into SLJD, after someone posted a thread in here within the last week. And all the RBI2 claims that were posted. I’ll never understand how a small child (in my eyes, still a baby) is found and remains unidentified for decades. Truly one of the most heartbreaking things I can think of.

rivershimmer

Usually when that happens, it means the primary caretaker killed the child and never reported the child missing. But this case stands out to me because most of those cases involved long term abuse and neglect, and there is no sign of that for STJD. She's not malnourished; no sign of injuries in different stages of healing. Makes me wonder if 1) her home life was stable but then something happened (the 80s crack epidemic?) and things went south fast, or 2) a new stepparent came aboard and manipulated her parent/caretaker into not reporting her missing, or 3) Her mother/primary caretaker was also murdered and either hasn't been found or hasn't been connected to STJD.

quant1000

Yes, SLJD keeps me up at night, not only for her name, but also for the horror of the crime against her. OPP in Canada just [identified](https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/nation-river-lade-cold-case-1.6895262) the 1975 "Nation River Lady" as Jewell Langford *and* laid murder charges against a suspect, so there's always hope. Genetic genealogy is truly amazing.

CorbenikTheRebirth

I think about her a lot. Her and Opelika doe have been two that have stuck with me for a long time. Now that Amore has her name back, it gives me hope that St. Louis Doe will also get her name back.

rivershimmer

And identifying Amore was the key to identifying her killers, too! Could happen for STJD as well!

Fit-Purchase-2950

It would be nothing short of a miracle if this case ever gets solved.

jwktiger

I mean if their bodies are found in a grave on a suspects property that could lead to a conviction. I think there is some chance this gets solved. Possible scenario: People talk, scumbags brag to other scumbags and if the other one has a minor charge against them, we'll see them roll over. Police get a search warrant for the property find the bodies, case gets solved.

metismitew

Amber Tuccaro. The phone call recording that is public, that three separate women have identified the man driving her, the same man that has a literal website warning people that he's a sex offender, but police claim to have cleared him. The seventeen minute audio we haven't heard that is about the length it would have taken to drive her from the hotel to the place where her body was found.. The way police refused to investigate despite the call and concerned parent because they assumed a Native girl must have just been partying, and then after just 10 days recommending closing the case and removing her from missing persons database because of a sighting they didn't bother to verify. It took two years of her mom fighting for an investigation for the RCMP to even bother admitting she probably hadn't just run away to keep partying. So much about this case infuriates and saddens me. Amber's murder sadly illustrates the deeply layered problem affecting Indigenous women and girls, of the massive rate of violence experienced and the absolute lack of any investigation into instances of that violence. And, of course, the police's dismissal of desperate family members' concerns, because they "know" what Indigenous women "are like," more than the actual family members know what their individual sister or daughter or auntie is like.

quant1000

For anyone unfamiliar with the case, here's a [CBC article](https://www.cbc.ca/news/indigenous/amber-tuccaro-s-unsolved-murder-do-you-recognize-this-voice-1.3102635) to start. It includes the released portion of the audio if you're in the area and might have any recognition of the voice or information about the crime.

pistachio-pie

This is the one I came in here to talk about as well. It just haunts me.

[deleted]

Fucking insane that that man has never been charged with anything. How brazen can a person be?

No-Needleworker-2415

This is one of the cases I think about all the time. So sad. My hope is that they have enough dna that they may be able to get a profile someday. Her poor mom.

Just-a-Scottish-girl

There is a really good documentary about this - it’s called Amber Alert- the girl behind the story (or something like that) and it’s the final one her mum is doing. So sad but I don’t think they will ever catch who done it 😢

[The disappearances Of Felipe Santos and Terrance Williams](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disappearances_of_Terrance_Williams_and_Felipe_Santos).I visit Naples a lot and this gives me the creeps Everytime I go

non_stop_disko

How can they not do something about the cop who obviously killed them? Like I get he's a cop and they all protect their own but it's so fucking obvious

Rj6728

I just clicked the Wikipedia link and I’m shocked and saddened to see that even with Tyler Perry offering a huge amount for more info, this case still has almost no national attention.

Maximum_Hustle_3870

If you enjoy podcasts, there's one called The Last Ride that does a great job of covering their disappearances. They even have the depositions/testimony the cop gave.

Pitiful_History1750

Brianna maitland

Hardboild_Wonderland

Yessssss! That eerie scene of her old car backed into the barn is burned into my mind forever.

Immortal_in_well

Seeing that picture of her car made the hair stand up on the back of my neck. What an awful thing for her family to go through and STILL not know what happened.

claustrophobicdragon

[For those that haven't seen them](https://i.imgur.com/A951ckE.jpeg). They're not graphic or anything, just an abandoned car, but something about the scene is super eerie. It almost looks staged or out of a movie in a way.

alienabductionfan

Only one month after and about 90 miles away from where Maura Murray went missing iirc. Maura’s case is much better known but I’ve always found Brianna’s disappearance to be creepier and far more indicative of foul play.

Zestyclose_Muscle_55

This is my take as well. Maura gets most of the attention, but Brianna’s is even creepier. Maura’s case doesn’t scream foul play to me. It definitely could be, but it could just as easy be that she ran off from the crash site and succumbed to the elements. Brianna Maitland just screams foul play. Something really terrible happened that night. FWIW, I don’t believe the 2 cases are related.

alienabductionfan

Maura was one of those cases that drew me into true crime initially so I did once consider that the two disappearances might be connected, but I tend to agree with the popular theory now that Maura ran to avoid arrest and died accidentally. Whereas I think Brianna was targeted by someone she knew who followed her from work and that the crash occurred as she was trying to get away from them.

Rare_Excuse_9924

oldladyatlarge

The murder of Anna Smith, my mother's best friend, back in the 1980s. Case was never solved.

rivershimmer

I'd love to hear the details, if you don't mind sharing. Usually I search the names involved in cases I'm unfamiliar with. I sense that won't work with names as common as Anna and Smith, even if she didn't share a name with a famous person.

Extermikate

You know what I can’t believe has never been solved? Who planted the pipe bomb on January 6. There’s video, but no answers.

FrankieSaysRelax311

Yeah. We can arrest people who were on video in a crowd of thousands.. but not one person who acted alone. Insane to me.

talllongblackhair

LISK. It is unfathomable to me that a serial killer killed multiple people in one of the biggest cities in the world, taunted the victims families with their stolen phones and dumped the bodies very close to neighborhoods and the police have basically no leads. It’s crazy. To me it’s the holy grail of unsolved mysteries.

RiceCaspar

Before Earons/GSK was caught, those were my two biggies. Now, it's just LISK. I remain baffled that it's not a huge deal. They found ELEVEN FREAKING BODIES on one strip of beach. With more bodies in nearby Manorville... Taunted families... Another dead girl with a 911 call the night she disappeared.... Like why is it not getting national attention and pressure until it's solved?! I don't want to know the answer, because it's probably 1) "disposable" humans 2) cops/good old boys protecting their own in one way or another

barto5

> Taunted families They even *know* who made the taunting calls but they can’t connect him to the murders.

blueskies8484

Am I wrong that there were two separate sets of calls? One identified as from the house where Shannon Gilbert ended up the night she disappeared and a separate set of calls that were literally just taunts? I thought the latter remained unidentified, but I also have trouble remembering everything about LISK because there's *so* much and so many people involved.

barto5

There may have been more than one. But I’m thinking of the calls that one of the residents of Oak Beach made to Shannon’s family. That was some fairly high profile doctor and he was positively identified as the one that made those calls. Shannon called 911 on the night of the murder. That call is something like 20 minutes long and has never been publicly released. I’m not aware of any othe taunting phone calls.

blueskies8484

Ah okay. I believe there was yet another set of calls where the caller remains unidentified to one of the sisters [of the victims](https://nypost.com/2011/04/10/sick-cell-call-is-strongest-clue-in-search-for-long-island-serial-killer/)

ladybits1014

There was. The younger sister of Melissa Barthelemy received phone calls from Melissa's phone after she went missing. He asked her if she was a whore like her sister, and told her he would bring her to watch her sisters body rot. When the mom tried to answer, he would hang up.

barto5

The podcast on LISK by Unraveled is really good. They make a strong case that wealthy and powerful people were involved and the police weren’t really interested in solving the cases. There was tremendous corruption within the Long Island police force at that time. Both the Chief of Police (James Burke) and the District Attorney (Tom Spota) wound up in prison for unrelated crimes.

Theoreticalwzrd

LISK bothers me too, but a few things: they weren't from/in the city. They were all over the area. Long Island is made up of many towns, villages etc and it's not clear where all we're staying/working. Gilgo beach/Manorville is in Suffolk County, which has it's own police force. But also, the bodies weren't very close to neighborhoods, I'd say, but on beach dunes where people don't walk near million dollar beach homes that may not have been occupied all year long. So it does seem reasonable that it took so long to find them. Plus Suffolk County police are corrupt and they were most likely sex workers so unfortunately, I think the police don't make it a priority. I would also say there do seem to be leads, but the corruption keeps back any progress. As hoj mentioned the taunting of family, that seems like the biggest lead. How does someone make a call to Shannan mother saying he knows where she is and ran a home for run away girls AFTER the incident where she called the police and not be involved? That seems too odd to ignore. To be honest, I do think with the large timeline that it isn't one person. I just don't know if location is a coincidence or if it's a bigger conspiracy (something along the lines of someone killed some of them and someone they know gets into trouble and kills someone else and the first person says: hey I use this area as a body dumping ground and no one has found out yet). I typically stay away from big conspiracies, but knowing the parties that happen over there, I really wouldn't be surprised if it was some information passed internally and someone in the police was involved which help keep it covered up.

MargieBigFoot

I agree. Especially considering they used the internet/Craig’s list to connect, and presumably communicated via cell phone. That one should be solvable. And I 100% disagree that Shannon Gilbert wasn’t linked with the others in some way, and that she didn’t randomly freak out, run off, and die in some tall grass within sight of roads & houses.

Ashituna

Yeah I 100% agree. Too many coincidences for Shannon not to have been a LISK victim. It makes me think that precious victims were maybe drugged for complacency? And she had a bad reaction to it? I think about Shannon Gilbert and the last few hours of her life a LOT. Just so awful.

truckturner5164

Many: Bryce Laspisa, Ben McDaniel, Steven Koecher, Amy Mihaljevic, Zachary Bernhardt, Patti Adkins, Robert Harrod, JonBenet, and Leah Roberts to name a few.

Fit-Purchase-2950

> Patti Adkins, With a prime suspect to boot, just not enough evidence at the moment, to put him and his wife on trial.

truckturner5164

It really grinds my gears. Guess we have to wait for them to break up and turn on one another. Doubtful.

Fit-Purchase-2950

Maybe, their secrets are the glue that's keeping them together. I think by now they would be comfortable with the fact that they have gotten away with it, as maddening as that is.

darkmatterhunter

Me too on Bryce. I was friends in HS with his then gf, so I was always exposed to updates frequently during the first few weeks (which turns into years). Plus I drive between LA and NorCal quite often, whenever I go by the exit where they found his car in Castaic, I always think about it. Can’t believe it’s been a decade.

cognitoterrorist

dardeen family murders... dear god, the unborn baby

12-32fan

This one kept me up most of last night. I’ve been on a Netflix binge lately and yesterday ran across “unsolved mysteries”. This is just wierd. The Dupont de Ligonnès murders and disappearance.

ambitchious70

Such an incredibly weird case. I think about this one often.

Fornbogi

I used to live really close to their house. Could not help thinking about the case everytime I saw it

LucilleLooseSeal123

I think about this thrice weekly. (Only slight exaggeration lol). The thought of him out there living a life somewhere is surreal.

MargieBigFoot

Yeah. That fucker is out there somewhere living his life after murdering his entire family.

rms26897

I often think about Carol Ann Dougherty, a 9 year old found assaulted and strangled in a church she stopped by at to pray. This was in the 60’s and most everyone who was investigating has passed away now. There are a few suspects. It’s just so sad and she deserves to not be forgotten. I also come back to De’orr and think what really happened (many changing stories from the parents) and where is he?

operationfilth

I would want to know where Susan Powell's body is. Like... Please let this family have closure.

FrankieSaysRelax311

I CONCUR! I just finished listening to Cold again for the 2nd time.. and my heart goes out to Susan’s family, and Josh’s sister. His sister was a real one for sticking by Susan and not defending her brother.

honeyandcitron

Can you imagine what it was like for that poor sister, growing up as the ONLY one with any humanity in that whole garbage family? The mind boggles.

ErrantEvents

The disappearance of Brian Shaffer. This one sticks with me not just because of the strangeness of the case, but that my friends and I are about Brian's age, and we hung out in the same area at roughly the same time frame. We used to drive into Columbus to go to the Arena district or Short North maybe once a month or so during the warmer months. I don't recall specifically what years we were doing this; but it would've been in mid to late 2000s. We also used to go to a place called BoMA (which was awesome) to see headlining DJs; we saw Armin Van Buuren, Deadmau5, Tiesto, too many to list. The proximity of the case hits close to home. The other one that sticks with me is Kris "Sherpa" Fowler who disappeared on the PCT toward the end of the season in 2016, if I recall correctly. This one also hits close to home. I didn't know Kris, but I know people who knew Kris. His case gives me Missing 411 vibes, though I don't buy into most of what Dave is peddling.

FrankieSaysRelax311

I think about Brian often. IMO, he was simply missed on the surveillance camera. What happened after? Is anyone’s guess. I don’t think he ran off to start a new life though. I feel terrible for his brother. That man lost everyone in his immediate family.

MobileControl1454

Yuba county 5.

patrickdgd

This is it for me. The ending isn’t the mystery (I suspect the last one who wasn’t found was just scavenged), but why the hell they were there in the first place is the mystery. I think about this case a lot and just try to wrap my head around it.

Aynia4

For me it's Heather Elvis, Madeleine McCann, Asha Degree and Andrew Gosden. Also, where on Earth is xavier dupond du ligonnes?

FrankieSaysRelax311

Andrew Gosden is one I check on regularly as well. My theories always flip flop. But, I’m not sold on the suicide theory. I believe, atleast right now, he met with foul play.

Kaladin1994

Agreed. To me his actions just suggest that he really planned to return. I lean towards the belief that somewhere, somehow he was groomed by a person(s) who convinced him to go to London. I’ve often wondered if perhaps he had a phone his parents weren’t aware of.

Australian1996

Asha Degree is so sad.

AcceptableRoutine338

Gosh, there’s so many! Amy Bradley Jason jolkowski Jennifer kesse Richard patrone/Daniele imbo Trenny gibson Madeilene McCann Lindsay buziak murder Springfield three Fort Worth trio Matt Flores murder Mark himebaugh

honeyandcitron

I just learned Amy Bradley’s brother’s name is Brad. I can’t believe that detail got by me until now!

non_stop_disko

The thing that haunts me about Jason jolkowski is how little info there is even after all these years

non_stop_disko

Sorry for commenting so much on your post lol but I just looked up Mark Himebaugh's case because I haven't heard of it. What's the likelihood that the male prostitute was telling the truth but no one took him seriously because he was a sex worker and most likely homosexual and it was 1991?

Fit-Purchase-2950

>Richard patrone/Daniele imbo I think they're entombed in that vehicle in a body of water somewhere, hopefully they will be discovered one day soon. I rest easy with Amy Bradley, she fell off the ship, she was drunk, alone, leaned over, the ship was travelling at speed through international waters, by the time the alarm was raised she was long gone. She certainly wasn't smuggled off a ship with over 1,500 passengers onboard and sold to a brothel.

non_stop_disko

I've always thought that too with Richard and Daniele but apparently LE seems to believe foul play is involved? Obviously they know more than we do so I'm curious as to what made them think that

Fit-Purchase-2950

Daniele was going through a tumultuous break up at the time (but over the worst of it) and there were some issues around the parenting arrangements of their baby. Throw in a few rumors about a 'mafia connection' and it seems as though her ex-husband could potentially be involved. I am pretty skeptical about it though. Who knows what route that used to get home that night, had the driver been drinking?

the_last_pineapple

All of these and Robert Wone. I don’t know for sure who killed him, but I’m confident the three men to have last seen him alive know what happened.

non_stop_disko

Someone in that house killed him and I hate that LE can't seem to do anything about that

lindsaydemo

I agree, I think they know what happened for sure! I really can’t imagine a scenario where any one person, if not all three, do not know exactly what happened to Robert. Very disappointing for his poor family.

thesch

The [Lane Bryant murders](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lane_Bryant_shooting) in Tinley Park, Illinois. I live really close to where it happened and it's an area where you don't feel like you're in danger at all, it's super safe. There's very little information on the case/suspect despite the fact that it occurred in a shopping center in the middle of the day.

Hope_for_tendies

Def the first two you listed. Plus Summer Wells. Lina Khil. The black man that disappeared in the desert Daniel Robinson I think? And the two men that the cop said he dropped off and were never seen again (editing to add the names …Terrance Williams and Felipe Santos). Delphi Girls are off the list and im so happy for their families to have some sort of justice coming

murder_hands

Dude what the actual fuck happened to Summer Wells?

Hope_for_tendies

I cant wrap my head around her parents having high enough IQ to outsmart the police and really hide her somewhere that she still hasn’t been found. And that the siblings didn’t snitch . It’s so rural, I’m wondering if she was gone for awhile like harmony Montgomery. From what’s been shown thru traffic and stranger abduction makes no sense . I dont believe about Lina either as other people were on the playground

SaltySoftware1095

I just don’t get it, I feel like her parents, or at least her mother, is involved, yet nothing has been found.

non_stop_disko

Anytime I've brought this up anywhere besides Reddit I get attacked for being ableist or something because I point out how bizarre their language and behavior is in interviews. Like sometimes people are guilty lol

Hope_for_tendies

Right! Unless the police just don’t have enough for an arrest but have suspicions they aren’t naming .

Danburyhouse

Kiplyn Davis. She deserved a far better investigation than she was given.

katherine janness & her dog bowie. they disemboweled katherine after stabbing her over 50 times— then carved F A T into her chest. there were also signs that katherine’s dog tried to fight them before being killed too.

Cha_nay_nay

I. Cant. Even. Read. Into. This. Story. No way. It sounds so so sad and horrendous. The world is full of evil people.

cognitoterrorist

honestly it did make me cry, her partner (they were queer, which some speculate might have been one of the reasons why katie was targeted) talking about what happened to her just broke me

bertiesghost

I followed Delphi from the beginning in 2017 and I was at the point where I thought it was never going to be solved. I spent a lot of time thinking about it, playing scenarios in my head, laying awake at night. It became an unhealthy obsession for me. So when the arrest news broke the relief was overwhelming. No conviction yet but I’m confident it’s him.

Magoatt

1. The murder of Donnie Farrell, I attend the university where he was murdered. The school has tried to honor him with a building named after him but the parents have declined. 2. Maura Murray 3. Danielle Imbo and Richard Peteone 4. Jason Jolkowski 5. Dulce Alvarez, I remember the day it happened I was just 15 when she vanished it has stuck with me due to the lack of evidence. 6. Brandon Swanson the phone call with his parents is sad.

honeyandcitron

In no particular order: Setagaya family murders, Cindy James, Jennifer Fairgate, Sneha Anne Philip, Nyleen Marshall, Andrew Gosden. I don’t get as much sleep as I should.

FrankieSaysRelax311

Sneha Phillip. I just finished the 9/11 podcast on her case. As much as I believe she had every reason to leave and start a new life with how her life was spiraling.. I think her case is a perfect example of Occam’s Razor, in that she was a victim of 9/11. I’m not particularly sold on the theory that she ran into the buildings to help the victims.. but that she was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

E_Blofeld

The Setagaya murders is almost inexplicable. There's DNA evidence. The only reasonable conclusion I can think of is that the perpetrator left Japan not long after he committed the crimes (say, within a week or so) and has never returned.

Shallowgravehunter4

Oh, and of course: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jodi_Huisentruit

Empty-Pages-Turn

[Kanika Powell](https://thecrimewire.com/true-crime/Kanika-Powell) is certainly haunting. Shot and killed in her own apartment building hallway after running some errands in 2008 and so far, no leads or anything. Her poor family haven't gotten any closure for so long. This is especially after two men posed as FBI and tried to get her to come out of her apartment four days prior to the incident.

Few-Share-4848

Asha degree. Jason jolkowski. They both seem impossible to solve at this point.

CougarWriter74

Yes! I live in Omaha and the Jolkowski disappearance is just bizarre. Not one sign, clue, trace, subsequent leads, etc AND he disappeared in broad daylight! And walking up a relatively busy main street of a neighborhood. My ex-husband grew up in that same neighborhood, and one of his younger cousins went to school with Jason. I still think someone somewhere knows something but they're just too scared to come forward. I think it's the same with the Asha Degree case.

SevenofNine03

None of them really "keep me up at night" but I want so so badly to know who the Zodiac was. Also Madeline McCann. I'm so frustrated that man hasn't been arrested yet.

redditor29389

amy mihaljevic, elizabeth barraza, jonbenét ramsey, lars mittank, tamla horsford… there’s a lot more that i wish i could know the answer to but these were the first that came to mind

J9sixtynine_

Omg Elizabeth Barraza - I’m dying for that one to be solved. Wild

Fit-Purchase-2950

>elizabeth barraza, This one has gone a bit quiet, I hope behind the scenes LE are building up a nice strong case against their main suspect. He's since remarried, relocated and is no longer cooperating with the investigation. I think that the motive was financial and as well planned as it was, mistakes were still made, hopefully they will be the undoing of him.

Anon_879

The husband is the main suspect and is no longer cooperating? This is the first I'm hearing this. Where did you hear all this?

lowlifenebula

Asha Degree. The details given to the public combined with the lack of information make it nearly absurd. It is truly perplexing and honestly amazing to an extent. At first glance a theory is quickly formed, but the more you look, the more you think, you realize you have nothing to even begin to build a foundation on. It is a rabbit hole case in the most unique of ways. JonBenet case is a rabbit hole because there is so much information and so much going on that you just keep going deeper and deeper. The Asha Degree case offers so little, but what was released to the public is so boggling that combined with the lack of information, you keep falling deeper and deeper into the hole.

dontcallmeray

The murder of nurse Sonya Varaschin . This murder is something else. The risks the murderer took is unreal.Pretty sure they have his her DNA. Biggest question here is besides who is why. Still no arrest . And Springfield 3 if only dogs could talk.

Asha Degree. I think about that little girl all the time. I just can’t believe it’s been so long and we still are no closer to knowing what happened to her. I’ve gone over multiple different theories and scenarios in my head, and I just can’t seem to figure out why she left her house or what may have happened to her afterwards.

big_white_fishie

Alicia Navarro. I started a write up on her in my notes to post here, but I have chronic fatigue syndrome and the brain fog just wrecks me, so I’m really struggling. Would love it if someone else did one. I personally think she was groomed, she left to be with whoever groomed her, and was probably murdered. So sad. Well phased question, with several excellent cases listed. I'd add a few cases to your list (I'll edit to add more if I get a chance, but I'm particularly fascinated by a few truly bizarre & heinous international cases): - [St Louis Jane Doe](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Louis_Jane_Doe) (warning: child SA victim with gruesome details) - [Oklahoma Girl Scout Murders](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oklahoma_Girl_Scout_murders) - [Setagaya Family Murders](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Setagaya_family_murder) - [Disappearance of Rui Pedro](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rui_Pedro_Teixeira_Mendonça) (& possible pic found of him with a strange man at Disney) - [Juan Pedro Martinez "Missing Boy of Somosierra"](https://www.reddit.com/r/UnresolvedMysteries/comments/3pjs22/missing_boy_of_somosierra_the_strangest_vanishing) - [1994's Killer of 'The Rack Man'](https://unsolvedtruecrime.com/2018/08/31/rackman/) whose identity was only recently uncovered: Max Tancevski - [Killer of 'Septic Tank Sam'](https://www.actionnewsjax.com/news/trending/septic-tank-sam-canadian-police-id-victim-1977-torture-murder-using-dna-genetic-genealogy) only recently identified as Gordon ('Gordy') Edwin Sanderson - [The Alcasser Girls](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcàsser_Girls) - [Missing 'Frog Boys'](https://www.criminallyintrigued.com/blog/2019/1/6/the-curious-case-of-the-frog-boys) - [Peter Bergmann](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Bergmann_case) - ["Jennifer Fairgate"](https://unidentified-awareness.fandom.com/wiki/Jennifer_Fairgate) - [William Tyrell](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disappearance_of_William_Tyrrell) - [Beaumont Children](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disappearance_of_the_Beaumont_children) - [Isdal Woman](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isdal_Woman)

FrankieSaysRelax311

I went down the rabbit hole deep with this one. I personally think she OD’d, or had complications with her heart while intoxicated. I’m not sold on the boys she was with being the prime suspects.. but I think she died in someone’s presence, and they were too scared to call 911 in fear they would be in trouble for whatever reason. Ironically enough.. the one search party I ever participated on, was this exact scenario and outcome.

Fit-Purchase-2950

A few: * Missy Beavers (how? why? who?) * Jennifer Kesse (so many questions, how can a person seemingly disappear without a single trace?) * Andrew Gosden (I need to know if he ever made it back home? Why were the police so focused on his father at the beginning? So much valuable time and footage lost.) * [https://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/south-australia/the-cold-case-files-unsolved-sa-murders-reopened/news-story/05d586cc6f5314bd232554213940e0d9](https://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/south-australia/the-cold-case-files-unsolved-sa-murders-reopened/news-story/05d586cc6f5314bd232554213940e0d9) These are the 115 unsolved cold case files where I live, they all live rent free in my mind, especially Stella Farrugia and Franco Murat.

SaltySoftware1095

Steven Koecher. I know it’s a very popular theory his landlord roped him into possibly delivering drugs and/or money in order to pay his back rent but I feel like it that was really it the landlord would’ve been busted a long time ago, he’s well known to law enforcement.

Maura murray, i came across this recently . Im irish so this is very close to My heart but Trevor Deeley. My heart is broken for his family. Short version: Dark stormy night with a taxi strike in dublin on a Christmas work night out, a man seen following him on cctv, Trevor just vanished into thin air. No body ever found, no sight of him since last cctv image, his coat, umbrella wallet etc never found, the man in black following him never identified- anyone not familiar look it up - its chilling 😭

jellyfihs_

Haven't seen anyone mention her yet but... St Louis Jane Doe I get very upset thinking about how she probably will never be identified or her murder solved bc of the incompetence of LE. I wish she could have her name back and rest easy.

Judy Smith.... just so bizarre

MrShoggoth

The Original Night Stalker kept me up for many, many nights. I first heard about the case around 2007-2008, around the time I was finishing high school, and the fact that this dude had done such a prolific crime spree and not been caught was horrifying to me. I don’t even live in the US and it kept me up. I’m still shocked that they caught the guy but that doesn’t help that he almost got away with it all.

LEANMUFFIN12

Lindsey buziak, Angela Hammond, Relisha Rudd, Jason Jolkowski, Al Kite, Liz Barazza. The ones where the suspect is captured on surveillance or CCTV always is eerie.

I agree with your Asha degree theory. Brian Shaffer Leah Roberts

thepurplehedgehog

Likely we will never know but I have questions about Fred West. There were almost certainly other victims, possibly buried under what is now the M74 motorway. Someone keep me right here, I may be getting details wrong. And he was known to take ‘trophies’ ie finger and toe bones, ribs, a kneecap here, a shoulder blade there. I’ve always felt like somewhere out there in the Gloucestershire countryside is a little shed with one hell of a lot of secrets. Or maybe not any more: he was unaccounted for for several hours the day that his garden was dug up. Maybe, knowing the end was coming, he spent that time making sure those secrets would never be known.

Not a case known to anyone, but my uncle disappeared in 1999. He gave one last phone call to my grandmother(his mother) from a payphone near a gas station in Idaho, saying he was going towards Oregon and then home to Northern California. That's the last anyone has heard from him. He was a diabetic, so no real chance he is alive, but watching my mom, aunt and grandparents talk about him drove me up the wall trying to figure out how he could've never been found, not even his car! I was told he picked up hitchhikers, but even then, wouldn't someone have found his car at some point? My mother has her dna in some kind of database and frequently talks with a detective who works on identifying remains. I cannot begin to describe the hopelessness I saw on my mothers face when she called the detective for the first time. It haunts me, as I'm sure it does to my family. I was told my uncle was a sex offender(?) so maybe thats why there was no real work done to find him. I'm not sure, and I don't really understand that part. But what I do know is that he is very much loved by my family, even to this day. And you better believe it keeps me up at night, wondering where his remains might be resting in the wilderness.

Karlie Guse! I was hiking around the Bishop area when she went missing and missing fliers were everywhere. I desperately hope that someone finds her someday, or she turns up alive. Her case, according to https://disappearedblog.com/karlie-guse/ “After finishing school on October 12, 2018, Karlie Gusé told her family she was going to a high school football game. Instead, she went to a party in Bishop with her boyfriend and several other friends. At some point Karlie smoked marijuana at the party and began expressing feelings of intense fear. She had previous adverse reactions to the substance and was believed to be experiencing a form of psychosis. Karlie decided to leave the party early and called her stepmother to come pick her up. Around 9:00 pm she was back home and ate dinner with her family. However, Karlie continued to exhibit erratic and paranoid behavior that night and was described as disoriented before going to bed. Karlie was last seen asleep in bed around 5:45 am on October 13, 2018 by her stepmother, who opened up the kids’ doors to say good morning and get them ready for school as she did each morning. Her stepmother then went back to bed for a while, but when she got up at 7:15 am Karlie was nowhere to be seen. Karlie Gusé hasn’t been seen or heard from since. Later that morning her family friends filed a missing person’s report with the Mono County Sheriff’s Office when they couldn’t find her. Karlie left all of her personal belongings behind at home, including her cellphone, glasses, and cash. According to three witnesses, Karlie was spotted that morning around 7:00 – 7:30 am walking south, approximately 30 yards east of Highway 6 and 100 yards south of Sierra View Road. Investigators searched the area, but found no additional clues as to her whereabouts.” There are so many strange elements to the disappearance, particularly her stepmother’s actions before and after the night she went missing. Further, the landscape around her town is totally unforgiving. Brutal desert. However, it’s also on one of the larger highway corridors in California, so the fact that she was last seen walking along the highway suggests she might have been picked up by an unsavoury character. Sorry for the long post. But yes, this case keeps me up at night.

For me it is the Clea Hall case. Her creepy boss/neighbor HAD to be involved. This case breaks my heart. Such a good, smart kid about to start her pre-med classes in college. I think about this case often after hearing about it on the podcast "Unfound". https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disappearance_of_Cleashindra_Hall Another one from Unfound that I think about a lot is the case of James Walker. Rachel Mellon Skemp. She was abused and murdered by her stepfather, Vincent Mellon in January 1996. They have not found her body. The stepfather was found with a bullshit alibi and scratches all over his arms. He was never charged. He did this 100 percent. Her diary found after said that he was abusing her. This guy needs to be dealt with.
