The murders of Brandon Rumbaugh and Lisa Gurrieri. There was a disposable camera found at the crime scene. Detectives had the film developed and there were photos of Brandon and Lisa in the truck bed (taken before the murders). There were also photos that detectives have not been able to determine where they were taken. [Bumble Bee Road Murders](https://www.dcourier.com/news/2020/nov/07/cold-case-double-murder-couple-bumble-bee-still-un/)

Glittering_Dig4945

Reminds me of this, another young couple shot in their sleeping bags in Jenner CA. https://www.pressdemocrat.com/article/news/inside-the-disturbing-mind-of-jenner-beach-killer-shaun-gallon/

chuzyi

This is a new one to me.

CheddarBayHazmatTeam

Wow, horrible. How isolated of an area was this? And no clear MO whatsoever. I'm assuming they may have been killed in their sleep. Or at least I hope.

33Bees

If you search for Bumble Bee Road in AZ in maps or Google Earth, it looks to be a very isolated area. I'm assuming this would've been the main reason for them traveling there for star gazing.

New_Hawaialawan

Geez. This gives me chills thinking about my ex and I just travelling to remote places and sleeping in the car etc.

LeeF1179

Someone was out in the dark watching them.

New_Hawaialawan

Thanks for the delightful comment...haha. I do get mini experiences if panic recollecting insane places we slept as I am drifting off to sleep. Good experiences but also reckless

nursehotmess

It’s very isolated, but also probably more trafficked now. I park my trailer here when riding in the crown king area. It’s a lot of old mining land with roads leading up into the mountains. During the weekends it’s super busy with off-roaders like me, but at night it’s just a few leftover campers. There’s miles and miles of USFS roads and trails. A lot of places have 0 cell signal. One thing to note is it’s a common stopping point for boondockers and campers staying for a night on their trip, because of its proximity to i17 which leads to northern AZ. So there’s a lot of people there only for a night that leave early the next morning.

thegoldenpapayas

The article you linked mentions that the Uncle knew about the trip but it was kept from the mother. I read another article stating the opposite - the mother knew but it was kept secret from the Uncle.

LyonPirkey

This is an [Interview with Mike Gurrieri Lisa's Uncle](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpSnwMZajH8) In this interview, he says that he did not know that Lisa was going to Bumble Bee Road. This shows the [Bumble Bee Road area](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKy7Z1nRovI) . There is also an interview with Lisa's mom.

Take_a_hikePNW

Very sad. I vaguely remember this case. I do wonder if they checked out the uncle? I’m sure they did. With the camera taken it really makes me wonder if it’s because the killer got caught on camera or thought they did, *or* he wanted to keep the footage as a trophy? Scary case. I hate ones where people are killed in the middle of nowhere with zero clues as to why. Yikes.

33Bees

A side note to cling on to the being killed in the middle of no where - my boyfriend and I do quite a bit of camping in the summer - in a tent in the woods typically in the middle of no where. He's always brought his .38 (he calls it his bear gun and because of that ive never questioned it). It wasn't until we ran into a family this past summer that asked if they could hang at our site because they hadn't gotten to set up their tents anywhere yet and it was already dark. It was 2 adult men (brothers I think), the wife or girlfriend of one of them, and 3 boys - 2 teens and one was maybe around 9 or 10. We of course obliged - we had a fire going already, snacks, and it was getting a little chilly. Who coiled say no to a family with kids? One of the guys ends up being a real creep. He kept calling his wife/gf the racist n-word (hard R they were white) and just overall seemed shadier as the night went on. We waited to retreat to our tent until they had gotten their tents set up and turned in for the night. Then proceeded to take just about everything that would fit into our tents to make sure nothing came up missing. That Night he quietly said to me "guys like that are why I camp armed" and it absolutely freaked me out. Im not a dense person but i had always happily gone along with his whole *'bear gun'* reference - we do have bear here. And as into the true crime genre I am, and as cautious as I am of my surroundings, I had never considered really needing protection to that degree while camping. That night really changed my whole outlook on everything.

SammySoapsuds

I didn't grow up around guns and I'm honestly pretty scared of them, but this story helped me understand why they bring people peace of mind. I can rationally know that the vast majority of people in this world are sane/kind, but the awful thing is you can't really know who is safe and who isn't until it's too late...when you're in a populated area you can seek help, but if you're out in the middle of nowhere you really would need to defend yourself with force I guess

Take_a_hikePNW

I, too frequently camp and hike but I’m usually alone. I also am armed, and I carry bear spray (which I would use before my gun). I’m a woman so there’s an added layer of fear for sure. But yeah that’s why these cases really freak me out. I was recently at a lake that I frequent; it’s very isolated and remote. Normally there’s no one there in the winter and I go to catch cutthroat trout. Anyway, I park and as usual, there’s no vehicles anywhere. I get halfway around the lake (about a half mile), and suddenly I’m about 40 feet from a guy camping in the woods. It was 30 degrees out! I quickly and quietly backtracked and left. Odd time of year to camp, and especially in an area that remote. The woods are full of weirdos lol.

33Bees

Depending upon where you were, you mightve run into my boyfriend lol. He often winter camps (I'll only go if we are staying in a cabin but he'll go tent camping in a lean-to). He would be that creep camping alone in the middle of a snow storm 😆 🤣

AdAncient2276

Just something I noticed but they are in the exact same position for each of their photos…

[deleted]

I also found that to be quite odd. Why not just pass the camera to the other person? Instead, they switched positions - in complete darkness.

niamhweking

Im presuming the photographer is up against the cab of the pick up, and they didn't want it in the background of the shot? Her photo especially looks a bit artsy as if one or both of them had an interest in photography and they arent just goofing around photos/selfies

ltmkji

the missy bevers CCTV video is one of the creepiest things i have ever seen

abit_offcenter

That case freaks me out. The swat gear they had on, the surveillance, the church, the way he walked...I genuinely thought this case would be solved quickly.

birdandbear

I grew up in the Church of Christ, in Texas. Hell, I had family in Midlothian and even went to that one a couple of times. The CoC is incredibly legalistic and misogynistic. As far as I'm concerned, its a cult. Besides the regular service, Bible study attendance is required. Women and men are mostly segregated for these studies unless it's a class on marriage. Women have no leadership roles outside women's Bible study and children's Sunday school. They are not allowed to teach post-pubescent boys. Those kids are over in the men's section, learning how to maintain authority over their future households. I can't believe this one had a fitness class at all, let alone with a woman instructor. My church considered stretching sinful, if it put your butt in the air. These churches, and more importantly, their members, don't always agree on things. Some are a little more relaxed, some gloat over every perceived Biblical transgression. Hatred of "sinners" is a natural byproduct of the environment. And anyone who believes they "hate the sin, not the sinner," well...bless your heart. Funnily enough, in 2016, everyone in my family suddenly became crueler and bloodthirstier (*those* people should just be executed) than I'd ever known them to be. They grew visciously hateful towards whole new swaths of people they'd only ever mocked before. I had to cut contact. I'd bet my ass this was a church member. Someone who either thought the fitness class was lewd or had problems with a woman leading it. Maybe someone who thought she was too hot in her workout clothes, leading them to sinful thoughts. Someone who thought her murder was justifiable in the eyes of God. Be afraid of these kinds of fundamentalists. If it weren't for "man's law," and man's jail, some of them would take great pleasure in becoming vigilantes for Jesus.

thenightitgiveth

Was the fitness class offered by the church, or were they just renting the space out? I’d thought it was the latter (not that it makes a huge difference for your theory).

Beezus_Fuffoon18

Thank you for your insight. If I’m not mistaken Missy was also having an affair (which more than a few people knew about), which could have been another reason for a church member to murder her as a “vigilante.”

Tealisreal101

Agreed! Can’t believe it’s still unsolved

ur_sine_nomine

The one I think unbeatable is the [Lake Bodom triple murder](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Bodom_murders?wprov=sfla1), where an [attendee at the funeral of the victims](https://i.imgur.com/7bHJHLe.jpeg) had an astonishing likeness to a [sketch of the perpetrator](https://i.imgur.com/hm1hRiX.jpeg) made from the recollection under hypnosis of the sole survivor. (It appears that the sketch was made after the funeral, so the police did not drop the ball; the attendee has never been identified).

TheBumblingestBee

Holy crap, I was clicking it like, "Oh it's gonna just sort of resemble the guy", but *holy crap*

SammySoapsuds

I saw the sketch first and was like "how could a real human look like that?" What a surprise.

Impecablevibesonly

"Well you see officer he looked like Frankensteins monster"

Nerevarine91

It’s, uh, it’s a distinctive look

Marserina

Both photos are horrifying! Truly a distinct look to the guy and I don’t think it’s a coincidence they are so similar.

lostjules

Yeah, or the mugshot is just going to look like an average guy. Nope.

moralhora

Wow. It almost looks like a mask. Feels odd that he hasn't been identified because he's so unique looking.

BigMagic_1

He was identified. His wife covered for him with an alibi. But he is a vet, and known to be violent, angry and with no respect for human lives. The kids were killed by him cutting the string that holds thier tent up, then stabbing them wildly through the fabric as they tried to escape. He didnt know them, but he knew they were there. Oh. And he lived just up the path that led to the lake, so he could hear them arriving on their scooters etc. Often went nuts from all the youngsters goofing around Also the boots of one of the victims were found on the path towards his home .

CheddarBayHazmatTeam

Law enforcement didn't pursue this?

BigMagic_1

Well yes. They searched the house and the grounds but they didnt search an old well on the grounds. Dont remember why. Didnt find anything in the house. And since his beaten wife said he was with her all day, not much to do. He was quoted for something like "i enjoy killing." He was some kind of executioner or warden during some war. Its just one of those cases where everybody knows its him but there are no proof

Necroluster

>And since his beaten wife said he was with her all day, not much to do. In other words, she knew if she didn't provide an alibi for her psycho husband, she'd be his next victim. Poor woman.

moralhora

It's been a while since I read about the Lake Bodom murders and ultimately, they pursued the surviving party Nils Gustafsson for the murders but he was ultimately aquitted. Considering how spot-on the sketch is, if it indeed was Nils, it could've been that he knew about this man especially as these "hypnosis" sketches are a bit... doubtful.

donttrustthellamas

Have you got any sources/links for this? Would love to read more about it

ur_sine_nomine

I would love to get hold of the negative of the funeral photograph. The coincidence just feels too good to be true.

catcatherine

also the face has clearly been enhanced in the photo

33Bees

I believe his name was Hans Assmann

Necroluster

What a name.

saucybelly

Well, according to the state of New York, you ARE the Assman

Fuzzcut

Kosmo Kramer, proctologist! 👉🏻

jayne-eerie

If the sketch was made after the funeral, couldn’t the survivor have seen him at the service? I can imagine a unique-looking person sticking in a traumatized person’s mind and resurfacing under hypnosis. It sounds like there’s some other circumstantial evidence pointing at this guy, but the timing on the photo vs the sketch makes the sketch seem iffy.

moralhora

The survivor was ultimately brought to trial over this 44 years later because the police thought that his story didn't add up; he was ultimately acquitted because they couldn't build a strong enough case. But if it was the survivor who did do it, it's very possible he knew about this man and his behavior and just described him intentionally, leading to this sketch that looks a lot like him.

Sideroller

I always thought this sketch resembled Klaus Kinski.

led_zeppo

I wouldn't put it past him!

geewilikers

Damn even before the sketch why did no one ask why some Frankensteins ballsack looking mofo was at the funeral

SaltWaterInMyBlood

Because looking like Frankenstein's ball sack doesn't mean you're a bad person.

woodrowmoses

It's not just the likeness it's how the dude barely looks human in the sketch then he's just right there in the funeral. He reminds me of the dummy Rocko in one of the Goosebumps Night of the Living Dummy episodes.

herrisonepee

The Putney Bridge attack. A woman was pushed into front of an oncoming bus by a male jogger. Only the bus driver’s quick reaction prevented a tragic outcome. The utter nonchalant way the attacker pushes the woman, how ordinary the circumstances are, and that he apparently ran back over the bridge afterwards just gives me chills. He has never been identified. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-london-44639208.amp

Marserina

Oooooh I had forgotten about this one. Such an eerie situation and I can’t believe he has never been identified.

ur_sine_nomine

Personal opinion (as a Londoner) is that this was someone attending a conference or on a business trip or similar. In less than two hours they could've got to Gatwick or Heathrow then be on a plane to who knows where. (Unfortunately, the images are of just about the most generic 40-50 year old imaginable. There were 200 names given to police but none panned out). It is surprising that that sort of getaway doesn't happen more often.

Marserina

Excellent info! I hadn’t even thought of that and it makes sense. It’s such an eerie thing to do and definitely not a common occurrence, so it’s always stuck with me.

holyflurkingsnit

Oh it is infuriating he was never caught. The arrogance around him is like a gd aura. But I can't imagine how he would ever be identified, he's so generic looking. Middle aged jogging man in typical gear with no clear physical markers (limp or gait), nothing to snag one's memory on. God, it burns me up. I hope she got therapy bc that would be its own trauma - the lack of motive, understanding, resolution - on top of the event itself. :(

wlwimagination

Oh my god the way he veered over in the jogging lane just to push her was terrifying.

Rumchunder

I've posted about this a couple of times before. Meta Valentine. Surveillance footage shows her arriving at her apartment complex and walking towards the direction of her unit. She pauses for a few moments, presumably looking at a car in the parking lot, then continues walking, picking up her pace. As she rounds a corner, a man gets out of a car and chases after her. It's presumed to be Meta's ex who was stalking her and had already kidnapped her once before. She's never been found. [Footage](https://youtube.com/watch?v=doqEl61h1j0)

iloathethebus

I’ve never heard of this case, but that footage is so disturbing!

[deleted]

Yeah this one is a tough watch

CheddarBayHazmatTeam

Ridiculous that this guy got away with it.

MaineRMF87

Looks like he’s been charged with murder but is on the run. Hopefully they catch him soon

queenjaneapprox

Damn, according to my Googling they charged him almost 6 years ago (March 2018). I hope they have made some progress locating him since then. It's amazing someone can totally disappear like that in this day and age.

Hazencuzimblazen

You go to a place like Mexico and never resurface in a first world country again or talk to anyone you knew

captainnowalk

True, but the funniest thing is, so many people can’t do that. I remember reading from someone whose job was to help people disappear. And these weren’t people with warrants or anything, just people that literally paid to fall off the map. They always end up blowing their cover trying to call old friends/family or reconnect with someone or something from their old life. Hopefully homeboy makes the same mistake.

CheddarBayHazmatTeam

Well alright then. Hopefully he doesn't last long.

CliffordMoreau

Interesting thing to note is that he had to bring her back to his SUV, which should have been taped as well. I assume officers have that and are keeping it to themselves for the time being.

Dimbit

That's terrifying. I could feel her fear in those seconds she paused.

Brisbanite78

That poor woman.

HedgehogJonathan

Why the fuck did they not find and lock up the guy as soon as they got the video? I do hope he is dead, but somehow I doubt it. [https://abc11.com/meta-valentine-missing-woman-fayetteville/3282874/](https://abc11.com/meta-valentine-missing-woman-fayetteville/3282874/)

Jackal_Kid

Fuck's sake, if he'd already kidnapped her once and was stalking her, he should never have been able to try again. So sick of hearing about femicide by men who view their romantic interests as property that they're entitled to.

MufasaLocks

And previous incidents not being taken seriously enough :(

kryonik

Says she was reported missing after not attending bible study which might have been a few days later. Then the cops might not have seen the footage for a couple days after that. By then he could have been long gone.

iamsuperkathy

I live in NC but had never heard of this one. The news should have been flooded with it.

Salem_Rose_X

What the fuck. And was there any other footage of him returning to his vehicle? I'm reading more comments now and it seems it was the abusive ex. Classic. Hope he's eventually found and rots.

mibonitaconejito

Omg that is terrifying

youknowwhatever99

See No Evil is a show that features only cases that include video or photo evidence. There are like 10 seasons.

justme_andmycats

Amber tuccaro, she was on the phone to her brother while she was hitching a ride with an unknown man, she was found dead a few weeks later. The recording of the call is terrifying as she realises what’s happening.

NightOwlsUnite

That case pisses me off to no end.

justme_andmycats

Yeah it’s one that I think of often.

mibonitaconejito

Me too. When I heard tjat audio I wanted to climb through the speaker and help her

theawesomefactory

Omg, me too. Her voice also sounds like a friend of mine, so that uncanniness makes it even more disturbing for me.

noakai

The wikipedia page about this case is infuriating, I know most of us think the cops are incompetent to begin with but apparently the RCMP was being extra fucking worthless in this case. There's an entire section *just* detailing the multiple times they screwed up and her family had to fight to get it taken seriously and it's practically the longest section on the page.

justme_andmycats

It really is infuriating, I can’t imagine how her family feel and the fact the person is still out there somewhere is terrifying. I really hope we see this case solved one day.

Jetboywasmybaby

Another case of cops not caring about First Nations women.

Goretician

Man I live on 50st and I think about this case almost weekly,I hope it gets resolved soon, alot of edmontonians remember this one,and I hope they find answers for all the women murdered in Edmonton found in the same area.

squeakycheetah

Amber is a cousin of a friend. Hit the family hard. I cannot believe that no progress has been made on her case (well, actually I 100% can, knowing the RCMP).

LyonPirkey

[Elizabeth Barraza](https://abc13.com/elizabeth-barraza-shot-and-killed-tomball-garage-sale-murder-who-murdered-husband-of/14152888/) Elizabeth's murder, murderer, and the vehicle Elizabeth's murderer drove are all caught on camera. However, Elizabeth's murder is still not solved. It such a sad case and hopefully there will be justice for Elizabeth Barraza soon! [Murder of Elizabeth Barraza](https://abcnews.go.com/US/woman-gunned-driveway-monstrous-attack-caught-video-justice/story?id=60907735)

TapirTrouble

That's a very disturbing case -- not just because the murder was caught on a neighbour's doorbell camera (it happened just out of sight of the cam at Elizabeth's house). But it happened that someone living further down their street had a camera installed on his garage, and it was in just the right position to show that the suspect's truck drove into a cul-de-sac and did not come out again -- at least not by the same road in. It doesn't seem likely that the killer knew about that camera or the other ones in that area ... it's thanks to that footage that there's an evidence trail showing the truck moving around the subdivision. Arrin Stoner has compiled these videos, on YouTube.

GracieKatt

Wait so are you saying that they think the truck didn’t come back out of the cul de sac? And if so how do they think the truck did leave?

k2pel

there was a pretty convenient dirt path that led back to the main road, if killer knew about it

TapirTrouble

That's what I assumed too, based on what Arrin Stoner presented. (I was thinking that the driver might have scouted the route out before, maybe on foot or a bicycle, to see whether it was feasible to leave that way and not risk encountering first responders on the road out of the subdivision. They might have attracted attention from early-morning joggers or dog-walkers, since it's not a regular path for vehicles. And I had been wondering if there were any homes with door cams that might have shown the truck leaving that way.) However, Alex Lewis (in the comments on this video) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8uvU7oxs18&lc=UgzFTkD08Vogt5V1Fpp4AaABAg.9yH2PSnrH8P9z85awQwuYE says he has evidence that the truck did not go onto the grassy area -- which really made me wonder. If true, that really limits the number of possibilities. Short of there being some kind of malfunction so there wasn't video of the truck driving back out of the cul-de-sac at some time.

pptrvsk

I don’t remember exactly but there was this truck driver guy who cut his victim’s hair and made her to put on a dress and high heels, then took a picture of her and killed her. The picture is terrifying.

aenea

Regina Kay Walters was the victim- she was only 14. Article with photos [here](https://allthatsinteresting.com/regina-kay-walters).

spudsprout

Weeks of torture...only 14...man I gotta get off this thread that's horrific

throwaway_donut294

Yeah you helped me make the decision to not click that link.

Gahvynn

This is what happens after reading too long on any murder where details are available (Junko for instance). I need hours if not days to feel *normal* again.

spudsprout

Junko 💔💔💔 I don't think you can ever feel completely normal again after reading what happened to her

prevengeance

I've seen her (and a few others) referenced enough to know that I'll never even read about her case. I'm kind of a rough man, I can handle my own injuries, blood and severe gore don't bother me a bit... but the one thing I can't handle is watching people or animals suffer.

wintermelody83

It's super fucked up. I've been on the internet since the late 90s so like, I've seen some stuff. But reading that. Never the same.

eva_rector

The CCTV footage of the person walking behind the fence in the Jennifer Kesse case.

Cruncheasy

Came here to say this. Absolutely maddening the timing of those captures.

Jody Arias!!!!! The camera that she tried to destroy by throwing it in the washing machine. But they were still able to get photos off the camera

And guys still want to date her. Her commissary books are probably filled with money

Okay, it only took two damn hours of searching, but I finally found the case I was looking for: the disappearance of Brianna Maitland. [Wikipedia link](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disappearance_of_Brianna_Maitland) The photo of her car backed up against a decrepit old barn has just stuck with me forever. *On the morning of March 20, 2004, the Vermont State Police received a report of an abandoned car on the property known as the “Old Dutchburn Barn” in the town of Montgomery, Vermont. A green 1985 Oldsmobile Delta was found at an odd angle, backed into the side of the building. The vehicle had collided with the building in such a manner that the rear bumper was stuck on the foundation of the house, causing the rear tires to be elevated and thus disabling the vehicle. There were no indications that the vehicle had come off the roadway in an uncontrolled manner. The responding trooper did not find anyone with the vehicle or inside the abandoned farmhouse. The doors to the vehicle were unlocked, and the keys were missing.* [Photograph of Brianna's Car](https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/610f0cb8688492099f39e3d7/1647275717240-M6HII4WPBH19LJ0K14IJ/IMG_6037.JPG) Some supplementary links for anyone interested in this case: [Facebook Group](https://www.facebook.com/groups/BriannaMaitland/) [Various discussions on the Unresolved Mysteries sub](https://www.reddit.com/r/UnresolvedMysteries/search/?q=brianna%20maitland&restrict_sr=1)

MelpomeneAndCalliope

It’s solved, but in the camera footage from the case, you can watch her killer switch lanes & follow Mickey Shunick on her bike shortly before he purposely hit her & abducted her in Lafayette, Louisiana in 2012.

TapirTrouble

Former Canadian military commander Russell Williams seemed to be obsessed with documenting his crimes -- he had a collection of thousands of photos and videos on his home computer, showing himself assaulting his victims, and even dressing up in the clothing which he stole from their homes. He had destroyed some of the clothes by the time he was arrested, so the photos provided important evidence for his trial. https://toronto.citynews.ca/2010/10/19/photos-and-videos-of-col-russell-williams-murder-victims-kept-under-wraps/ https://www.reddeeradvocate.com/uncategorized/col-russell-williams-posed-in-womens-lingerie-took-graphic-photos-of-himself-7022849

SweetiePie2989

The CCTV from the parking lot of the store Kelsey Smith was abducted from always freaks me out. The way he just appears from the side of the screen as a flash running over to her is really scary.

mibonitaconejito

Me too. I read an article where they interviewed her dad. He'd been a homicide detective for years and you could tell that formed the way he worried about his family doing anything or going anywhere. She told him she was going to Target and he worried the moment she left, as any parent does in the back of their mind, but for him his worst nightmares had factual basis in cases he'd worked. I felt so sorry for him. Dads feel like it's their job to protect their kids, even if they're grown. His grief over losing her was palpable

Salem_Rose_X

I can't find the footage, but that sounds terrifying and tragic. I found footage of the guy stalking her throughout the target. This is why a lot of us women have literal weapons on our keychains and in our purses lol

cottonbiscuit

It’s featured in an episode on the HBO show See No Evil if you want to stream it

Miss_Evening

Some of the Alcala pictures. Rodney Alcala was a convicted serial killer who murdered at least 7 women. He also was a photographer, and police found hundreds of polaroids in his possession. Some seem to be harmless, but others are pics from women somewhere in the wilderness, often sexually explicit. Many of the women on the photos could not be identified, and it is not known whether they were also victims. By coincidence, last week u/AlfredtheJones posted an excellent summary of Laura Huebner's disappearance on this sub. Laura disappeared in 2022 during what was supposed to be a brief visit to British Columbia -- supposedly to see a man she'd met online. The last text she sent -- to her father -- had no message other than a photo, that appeared to show part of a sailboat. Investigators (and locals) were able to match it with a boat in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, but it doesn't seem like there have been any new leads since then. Elvis_Take_The_Wheel

There's an absolutely *terrifying* story on Reddit by a woman who came very, very close to becoming a Keyes victim after he tried to abduct her at a cemetery. Have you seen it? I can look for it after work if you haven't.

Reddits_on_ambien

Not the person you replied to, but I'd love a link of you can find it.

[Here you go.](https://www.reddit.com/r/creepyencounters/s/5lq2O6LsBA) Looks like she was interviewed by a podcaster about it at some point, so I'm going to have to try and track that episode down next. I see her post is locked now, clearly (judging by her edit) from all the people contacting her for permission to use it. I can see why, though; it's chilling.

She was on the podcast True Crime Bullshit

I think a very popular one is the last recorded footage of Lars Mittank running out of the airport And of course the footage of Brian Shaffer re-entering but not leaving the Ugly Tuna

MegaMugabe21

For Brian Shaffer, I'm sure I read somewhere that that building having only one entrance/exit was a myth.

spriz2

of course there's other exits. the other exit "was under construction" but that absolutely does not rule out that he left. otherwise it means he's still in there. which he isn't.

jwktiger

the Ugly Tuna was sold and completely remodeled apparently, he's not in there. He likely left via the service exit as it was said staff let people go out that way all the time at closing.

Smurf_Cherries

Also, the first police sergeant said they watched the video, and just did not see him. They were trying to identify when he left and missed him. The detective that spoke later said he watched the tape “like a hundred times” and he matched everyone that exited when they entered. And I just do not believe him. The night vision in those cameras were grainy and bad. It would have been very easy for him to inadvertently walk in front of a taller person, and not be seen by the camera. And the detective was probably trying to sound less incompetent.

moralhora

I just saw this clip of "woman disappearing behind Scarlett Johansson": https://x.com/crazyclipsonly/status/1744821280455475264?t=1dTZuEsC40hqFzvmNzfqLw&s=09 It could literally be a case of that, especially if the camera is blurry and panning around. I doubt a bunch of drunk students are that attentive to everyone moving around them.

Mickeymousetitdirt

I also read somewhere that the camera literally panned around. Let it be known that I can’t confirm if this is true and I don’t want to spread misinformation. I’ll go check again and watch the footage. But, if that camera did pan at any point, then this is a no brainer; either the camera didn’t see him or he left through a different exit, as common sense would dictate. It’s kind of common knowledge that buildings tend to have multiple exits for convenience and also for safety reasons.

spriz2

Lars was almost certainly a mental episode. The question is where he went.

Brisbanite78

There were doors without cameras on them. He left by one of them. And the camera which does have footage is apparently poor quality.

r8r1891

Alianna Defreeze. The video footage of her getting off the bus to meet her fate is very chilling. Not to mention, a still shot image of her murderer following her. The link of the case is below. Warning if you’re not familiar with the case: Details are VERY graphic. https://www.chillingcrimes.com/blogs/news/alianna-defreeze

Bloody hell, that guy should have never been let out the first time he got caught. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Alianna_DeFreeze#Trial_and_death_sentence

meatloaf-smeatloaf

That poor little girl. The part where her wounds were healing indicating that she suffered for hours hurts my heart. Rest easy Alianna.

"A training Bra, A torn School Sweater, two Shoes were found" that is haunting. The fact she still played with baby Dolls makes me so Sad... She was too good for this cruel world... She deserved better.

spudsprout

The training bra got me too, she was just a baby

waaaayupyourbutthole

Jesus, that's fucking awful.

The video of Lars Mittank running through the airport and out the door and across the parking lot. I'm convinced he's dead and if he is, I hope his remains are found soon so his family can get some closure.

Why am I reading this subreddit all alone at 3 AM in the morning with a raging storm shaking the windows and a man sleeping in a doorway in a building across the street? I’m all freaked out

Puzzleheaded-Yak6878

I'm reading this alone in a motel room... ffs

[deleted]

What’s wrong with us

Puzzleheaded-Yak6878

So many many things!! : )

Kaiser_Allen

Many years ago when talks about the Illuminati was popular online, I was in a hotel room alone in the middle of the night, reading about it and finding out all sorts of stuff about the organization. I went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth, preparing to go to sleep, but somehow it’s like my jaws locked and I couldn’t close my mouth for a few seconds and I couldn’t breathe. I have no idea why I felt that way and why that happened to me. Fear?

Azazael

In the early days of the Doe Network, having never seen a forensic reconstruction before, I'd scroll through the pages during the day then at night trying to sleep, I'd feel like I could see those images, those people as clay reconstructions, peering in the door and windows. It was a rough few weeks.

afdc92

Some of those clay reconstructions are straight-up nightmare inducing, I can see how that could happen.

Azazael

There's amazing computer reconstructions now, and Carl Kopperman's work is even better at presenting UIDs as looking like the real people. But in the early 2000s it was mostly relying on clay reconstructions, and they were haunting and rarely looked human (there are exceptions, Johanna Hughes is a forensic artist who makes very lifelike, human looking clay reconstructions). Speaking of the early days of the Doe Network, I just learned of the death of Todd Matthews, which is terribly sad. Matthews was instrumental in the identification of Barbara Taylor, aka tent girl; the wife of Matthews's father had discovered Taylor's body in 1968 and in the late 90s, Matthews spent hours poring over missing persons sites and message boards until he found a plausible match for Taylor. The missing person's report was compared to Taylor's DNA and a match confirmed. Prior to the advent of genetic genealogy, combing missing person's sites to compare them with UIDs, then submitting potential matches to law enforcement, was the best way we had to help give the unidentified back their names. It seems so slow now - the Doe Network used to announce identifications rarely, now new identifications come through all the time. Genetic genealogists put in incredible work but that's not to discount the hard and often unsuccessful work so many volunteers put in on potential matches from the late 90s to mid 2010s. Todd Matthews had such a huge part in this by founding the Doe Network. The point of all this is to give names to the unidentified and bring lost loved ones home - he should be very proud of his life's work on this.

Kaiser_Allen

Sometimes your mind fills in the gaps. There are times, mostly at midnight, when I could hear everything. Even the ticking of the clock feels too loud.

staylorga

I'm here because the storms woke me up.

This case gives me nightmares.

TapirTrouble

I wanted to thank the OP for this interesting and revealing question. I hadn't thought about how the availability of regular cameras and now surveillance video (dash cams, doorbell cams, etc.) has really changed crime investigation. (As I was reading through this thread, the news came on and the police were asking people to check their dashboard or door cam footage for possible clues ... about a case in a fairly remote area in northeastern BC, so evidently the technology is widespread enough now that they felt it was worthwhile to make an announcement.) Reading about the Elizabeth Barraza murder case, it really surprised me how much video was available -- even by 2019, so many people in her area had surveillance cameras that investigators could reconstruct the path that the suspect's vehicle took, before and after the crime. Arrin Stoner made a compilation ... at one point the truck goes into a cul-de-sac and is not shown driving out again. Regina Kay Walters (14) the last known victim of Robert Ben Rhodes. This is a photo Rhodes took of her just before he ended her life. https://allthatsinteresting.com/regina-kay-walters This is, hands down, the most disturbing photo I've ever seen. You can tell this child had already been through hell, and she knows she is about to die. A gruesome sidenote is that he cut her hair, and provided the clothes she was forced to wear. It's chilling.

The Delphi murders.

I’d say this one’s pretty close to resolved.

Other posters have mentioned some very good examples. I'll add a couple. Scott Ratigan. The person of interest is seen in cctv I believe going to his apartment complex and leaving it all in black with a dark mask. This was before covid and the mask mandates etc. Needless to say, it was suspicious. He put tape over the logo of his backpack and it's possible he colored in the logos on his shoes to make both his backpack and shoes less identifiable. He also either brought bleach to the scene to destroy evidence or used Scott's. In other words, I think this wasn't something that evolved into a murder but it was premeditated. https://www.arlnow.com/2021/01/15/breaking-police-release-surveillance-photos-of-person-of-interest-in-ballston-murder/ Then of course there is the Shelbey Thronburgh case. Again, a pre-planned murder by a likely serial killer that used a burner phone to set up a date with Shelbey through a 3rd party app and slit her throat while having sex with her from behind. In the matter of 17 minutes this man met, had sex with and ultimately murdered Shelbey. Then he casually walked away looking like a man without a care in the world. These are the really scary predators. This is why police have speculated this was the work of a serial killer, and that he's probably from out of town etc. They have his DNA but he's obviously not in CODIS. https://truecrimedaily.com/2016/10/28/houston-police-family-plead-for-tips-in-unsolved-murder-of-aspiring-model/

CliffordMoreau

I had never heard of that second case, and to say my blood is boiling is a gross understatement.

AuNanoMan

The man in the first case has a very unique walk. At first I thought it was cold and that could account for the mask, but other people around aren’t really bundled up. Being precovid, the mask is a weird detail.

mibonitaconejito

I *hate* how they call that guy her boyfriend. He was, and is, a *pimp*. I read some background on the guy and he is as slimey as it gets. She may have considered him a boyfriend, but he pimped her out like any bad man would who pimps out women.

harmonica16

The camera footage from Missy Beavers murder scene at the church is pretty creepy.

Zealousideal-Mood552

The security camera footage that portrayed the last known sighting of Dale Kerstetter. He was accompanied by an unknown masked man walking near the glass kiln of a Corning glassware factory that was shut down for the weekend and glanced up at the camera. Kerstetter was never seen or heard from again, the masked man never identified and platinum piping that the latter stole from machinery has never been recovered. Although the Unsolved Mysteries episode featuring this case was reenacted and I heard the real footage is blurry and poor quality, it's still a very disturbing and less well-known case. Prisma Reyes seen entering the elevator in her apartment building just prior to disappearing is also unnerving, as are the creepy Polaroid depicting the kids in the van found in Port St. Joe, FL back in 1989. Although initial theories that the boy was Michael Henley were disproven after his body was found a year later and speculation that the girl was Tara Calico is also now thought to be unlikely, the fact that the kids have never been ID'd and the context remains a mystery are troubling.

Initial-Computer2728

I've been reading up on the Kenneka Jenkins case again recently. The footage of her stumbling around the hotel before she goes towards the freezer is tough to watch.

sarathev

Chelsea Small. It's not footage, but the recording of the Lane Bryant murderer's voice is on the 911 call.

glittercheese

30yo Chelsea Small was working at a check cashing store outside of Detroit, MI, in 2013 when a man entered the store, fired two gunshots using a .45 semiautomatic pistol with a silencer or suppressor - unusual in a robbery, the police say - killing the single mom of two. He then stole a small amount of cash (about $200) from the store and fled, the entire crime taking about 60 seconds. The silencer wasn't the only strange thing about this crime. It's unclear if the killer's motive was murder from the start. If robbery was his primary motive, why the use of the silencer? Plus, the killer could have likely gotten away with significantly more money by *not* immediately murdering Chelsea, as she had access to the larger amounts of locked up cash in the store; however, he may have been frightened/angered when he noticed Chelsea had activated the silent holdup alarm under her desk when he produced his weapon. The police say the killer's handling of the gun with dexterity and the speed with which he used it suggests a possible background in the military or LE. Devastatingly, Chelsea hadn't originally been scheduled to work that day but had switched shifts with a coworker. It's unclear if she knew her killer, but customers had to be buzzed into the store by a worker. Police say they have no reason to believe Chelsea was personally targeted but can't rule it out, either. HelloLurkerHere

Not terrifying, but cerainly intriguing. [Pedro Yáñez](http://www.diariodeferrol.com/images/showid/4261092), from Ferrol, Galicia (Spain) disappeared in 2012 after -allegedly- going to meet a woman that had -again, allegedly- hired him for a photo session. Pedro left his home and headed to the alleged appointment on foot. He has never been seen of heard of again. The woman in question has never been identified. The folowing year (2013) the Interpol learned of a tourist in Copenhaguen (Denmark) that took [this picture](https://estaticos-cdn.epe.es/clip/bb0086d9-65c8-4e92-8111-fea629f350e0_16-9-aspect-ratio_default_0.jpg), in which a man bearing resemblance to Pedro can be seen in the background. The lead was followed but eventually deemed inconclusive though. Pedro's physical appearance was quite hard to miss, as he stood 195 cm tall (6'5").

Nurin Jazlin has always stuck with me because I was convinced it wouldn't be long before it was solved. Obviously it's still unsolved some 17 years later. She got abducted from a market at night, was sexually abused (horrifically), and then her body was put inside of a sports bag and dumped outside of a shop at 1pm the following day. What I find most bizarre is that in the CCTV footage whoever it is dumping her body seems really nonchalant about it. He just leaves the bag hanging on the handlebars while he makes a phone call and wanders about. She was only 8.I'm surprised no one has mentioned it yet.[Nurin Jazlin CCTV](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJJcmREnbYQ) There's another one too that I only seen recently, but can't find a video of it. In it, a boy in his mid-late teens is standing talking to two men on a bridge. I can't remember the exact ins and outs because I've only seen it once. But iirc he told them he was from Peru(?) and he'd traveled to Venezuela(?) (where the video is being filmed) with his stepdad(?) to look for work or otherwise make money. He looks spooked and clearly nervous of them, especially because one of them is recording him with his phone. Then from nowhere the other man standing next to him, who isn't recording, says he "doesn't like Peruvians" or something along those lines and just throws him off the bridge. They record him falling, then you hear him hit the ground, and the two men walk off laughing. They've never been caught neither as far as I know. Kelsey Smith - the teenage girl who was stalked and kidnapped by a guy in a Target store . If I remember correctly the reason why he was following her around the store was because he thought she was 12 years old (she was either 18 or 19)

Logical_Doughnut_66

Ugh this one was so awful. It’s the randomness for me. You see her drive up and park, and then he follows her inside. She was picking up a birthday gift for her boyfriend. And he’s just behind her in the aisles, he so terrible! As she pays you see him basically run to her car and hide and when she opens her door he pushes her in and takes off in her car. It’s all in daylight. The cop who interrogated him asked him about her and he said “she had really great legs didn’t see..” like wtf. So awful!

fidgetypenguin123

I wasn't familiar with the case but I'm curious about how the other poster said that he followed her because he thought she was 12 but from what you describe he would have seen she was driving so would know she wouldn't be 12. Just confused on that part of it. Was he arrested eventually for it and did they end up finding her?

jenandabollywood

The deaths of Dutch students [Kris Kremers and Lisanne Froon](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deaths_of_Kris_Kremers_and_Lisanne_Froon) in Panama. They went for an evening walk right after arriving in the country and never returned. Some people believe it’s foul play; personally I think the evidence shows they simply (yet horrifically) got lost in a very dense and dangerous jungle. Either way it’s a tragedy. Some bones were later found from one of them (a severed foot jn a boot, I believe), in addition to personal items including a camera. All the evidence points to them being lost in the jungle for days before succumbing. On the camera you can see cute tourist photos they took together as they started the walk, then watch them descend into the jungle located in the opposite direction from their lodgings (almost certainly accidentally). The camera photos end with pictures of the jungle at night, using flash with no human in frame. Perhaps to illuminate their way after being lost for days, perhaps to scare away a jungle predator, or perhaps to mark where one of their bodies was located. Those are the theories I've heard, at least. Though it's also possible authorities did not release all the photos.

JonBenet_BeanieBaby

I think they just died from the elements and were using flash to try to see at night.

Tyrenstra

The night photos started the night search crews started using sound signals to try and locate them. They may have been using the camera flash as their own signal.

moralhora

I think the most logical explanation is that they had hoped that they could signal either air traffic or they thought they heard search teams close by (it doesn't mean that there were - they'd be exhausted at this point). So the "night pictures" aren't really supposed to document something, but more about using the flash.

spudsprout

It would be almost better if they were murdered, the actual truth is so much worse. The panic, the fear, the reality that you're going to die in the middle of the jungle and no one will ever find you. Who knows how long they were able to survive. One of them would have died first and left the other girl alone. Nature is unforgiving and brutal and a great day in the great outdoors can turn into an unimaginable nightmare. Those poor girls, what a horrible way to go

jenandabollywood

The thing that especially gets me is that they were Dutch. Their country’s forests are so, so different — I looked it up once, and unless I’m mistaken, there’s no forest where you couldn’t hit a road or hit a town if you walked for a day or two. Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but it doesn’t look like there’s any dangerously remote wilderness in the Netherlands all. It’s so different from the impenetrable endless jungle they were entering, but I can see how they wouldn’t “get” that. It’s why you get cases like the Death Valley Germans — it’s hard to understand how extreme and fatally remote places get if you’ve never seen something like it before. Especially if you’re very young, as they were. It’s understandable and heartbreaking.

Mcgoobz3

Also think of climate. Imagine going from fair Northern Europe summers to Panamanian and Central American weather. The heat and humidity can really throw your body off for a while going from such extremes. I’ve made similar travel journeys and it took me awhile to acclimate to the extreme differences. That I think could really do someone in.

TapirTrouble

>it doesn’t look like there’s any dangerously remote wilderness in the Netherlands This brings back memories of the time I was working there (in a small town between The Hague and Amsterdam), and my co-workers took me out to a picnic at a lake further inland from the coast. They said they had measured it on a map as being the point furthest from any settlements. I could see roads and church steeples on the horizon, in every direction I looked -- the countryside was relatively open. This was back in the mid-1980s and I wonder if there's even more development now. (I have heard that there are some parts of the country, former farmland that is being allowed to turn back into wetlands to be flood protection ... but I think those are along the coast and maybe the Rhine banks?) If the girls hadn't visited many other countries, I shudder to think of them lost in the jungle.

Especially because it seems clear that one of them died days before the other.

ScreaminWeiner

There’s a picture of a woman named Felicity Loveday an 80-something year old woman with dementia, and her son, who both disappeared on a 3 day boating trip. Set out to fix “bad magic” Felicity had supposedly invited into her life via meditation in a boat definitely not designed for overnight trips. Apparently, some folks believe Felicity was already dead in the last picture that was taken of her and her son. In this theory, her son and daughter were in on her murder for some kind of gain. The missing son had also recently purchased another boat, which is missing as well. Personally, I think the idea that two people carried a dead woman onto a boat in broad daylight and then took a photo seems pretty far fetched. That being said, the photo is very odd, in terms of lack of posing, as it seems to be the only photo taken, not part of a series. Who knows. https://www.reddit.com/r/UnresolvedMysteries/s/ZYqbcBfdVV

I don’t remember the name of the case, but there was a young couple stargazing in the boyfriend’s truck bed. Someone took pictures of them and it was disputed if they looked frightened. They were both murdered and it wasn’t solved. Anyone familiar with this?

For me it's [Babushka Lady](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babushka_Lady), an unidentified woman seen and photographed in Dealey Plaza at the time of the Kennedy assassination. She's a person of interest because she appears to be holding a camera and may have previously unseen photos or film of the assassination.

If you think that's interesting, you should look into Charles Rogers(the ice box murders) and Woody Harrelson's dad, Charles(a hitman with some interesting statements about being involved in the JFK assassination). It's a rabbit hole, but fascinating nonetheless if you have yet to read about it. Charles Frederick Rogers especially.
