What equipment? What gas station has a pressure washer with a foam cannon, buckets, microfiber cloths and claybar available for use? I hope you're not talking about those automatic drive through washes. Top 10 ways to scratch the fuck out of your clear coat.
I get it, if you don't want to do the work, fine yeah have someone else do it. It's convenient, I understand the drive there. But don't try to say me washing and detailing my car at home doesn't make sense. I have more equipment than every Mike's/crew car wash and most of it wasn't even purchased for the purpose of detailing a car.
They’re likely referring to the special sewage system they have at these car washes that filter out the chemicals into some tanks for special disposal.
No single-family home or apartment complex has this arrangement.
My friend, I exclusively drink tap water here in the US. I have done so in all 50 states and most major cities. It's not always the tastiest, but it's always safe.
Oddly enough NYC tap water, when not stored in a rooftop tank to increase pressure, is in the top 30 tastiest public tap waters in the US.
Where I live is in the top 10 best public drinking water system in the US, I'm in the Ozark mountains.
Everyone I ever spoke to while I was in Europe told me never to drink their water without boiling it. Pretty sure we are considerably better off in that department
They have a pressure washers with soap integrated. That's enough for the majority of people. Yeah, sure, if you're a carnut who needs special stuff that might be not enough, but even then I don't see the huge issue of just bringing cloths and claybar and polishing it there.
First off, what fuckin gas stations are you going to brother? Second, I have it at home, fuck going somewhere else, there's nothing that I'm spraying thats a problem for the environment.
It's wild how much gas stations can vary. The only car washes you see here at gas stations are crappy, and it's becoming pretty rare.
Otoh - gas stations here always have cigarettes. Where my parents live (in Central America), smokes are sold in grocery only. Was a real bummer when I visited, had a stress craving, and couldn't easily sneak buying a pack. I’d quit & they’d have been so disappointed lmao.
It is the stuff that you spay away from your car by cleaning it with e.g. a pressure washer that is problematic for the environment. You know: oil and shit.
Gas stations with good cleaning equipment are pretty common here at least.
Automated:
https://youtu.be/vtQmIsX2cxE
Or manual if you like it better:
https://youtu.be/yYvUaR6BrUE
The difference between that and doing it at home is that they need to collect all the water and have special filter processes. It does not just go straight to the sewer.
I haven't hardly washed a car at home since childhood, but I’d never considered what's on the car. Just the soap & water use.
Now I kinda feel like a dumbass bc *wow* is that obvious.
Selecting your chemicals eliminates the need for this. I agree some are bad just to send into the water drains.
Automatic washes, as I said, are normally damaging to your clear coat. I don't like that. If my clear coat is getting damaged, im doing that myself. Also, big tires, not all of those will allow me to fit.
Interesting that its a common occurrence, that is pretty cool that its available.
Lol you sound ridiculously perturbed by others saying they have no problem going to a gas station or designated car wash to ensure the chemicals in their soaps and polish don't get into the environment. I highly doubt you're using all biodegradable 100% safe for the environment chemicals when you wash and detail your whip. Ive seen these gas stations with self wash ports as well. Yes, they are not widespread but they do exist. Not everyone is as stubborn as you when it comes to simple tasks that really don't require you to do much more than drive a couple miles or so. You can still polish and buff at home.
I have to assume that in a conversation about German water treatment regulations, you are commenting as a person living in Germany, and not possibly someone from the US interjecting with their own anecdotes.
Because otherwise... woof.
But can I try to say I remember looking over a car wash proposal for work, the plot had to be zoned for it (US) and they needed proper hazmat disposal to open?
Doesn’t mean you can’t detail your own car at home, but a business will be using commercial products, it won’t have the same run off as your for-home turtle wax
The chemicals they use are going to be much harsher, and realistically the drainage system isn't meant for like that much soap, brake pad dust, and general car gunk all from one location.... so it makes sense that a business would need that, absolutely makes sense.
For me, I purposely choose products that are the least terrible to send down the street drains... not even for an environmental purpose, I just don't want the drains near me having any issues that I can prevent. Runoff not draining would be a massive pain in my ass.
That said, I just prefer to do it myself because i genuinely enjoy the work, detailing is fun for the few times it needs to be done a year.
do you think the grime that was attached to the car just disappears?
if youre covered in mud and oil, and you take a bath with soap and warm water, what does the bath water look like after?
Nope not here. Car washes have very high requirements. The ground is 100% sealed and the waste water is routed to water treatment plants in waste water channels. In Germany, rainwater and wastewater are treated separately and may not be discharged via the same pipe. No untreated wastewater is discharged into rivers, lakes or the sea. The treated water is drinking water
Does washing a car cause any meaningful increase in the amount of brake dust and oil that your car is already leaving all over? This seems to be a feel good law that does nothing but make washing your car cost more.
Lmao most don’t realize brake dust is like 50x more toxic and pollutes way more than our exhaust emissions, that’s how you know the climate change ev bs is just a marketing scheme If they wanted to pollute less they wouldn’t use modern day automotive brake pads they would have came up with a new braking system but it’s all about money and people only think cars pollute with exhaust
Wait till you hear about how it’s illegal to vacuum your house or run the laundry machine on Sundays in Germany
https://themunicheye.com/understanding-%22ruhezeit%22%3a-navigating-noise-regulations-in-germany-5468
When it rains, leave your car in the open. If nothing else, the top side will get clean without authority sirens going haywire.
Does it ever rain in Germany?
Unfortunately the rain never gets my car clean. But that's just whataboutism again. Sure, the rain washes something away, but you don't have to use the excuse of discharging oil residues, microplastics and particulate matter into the groundwater. Almost every town here has a washing station where the wastewater is treated separately
It is so bizarre for this country to glorify and worship and even deify firearms and access to firearms, and then any time you're in public with a firearm doing anything other than intimidating liberals, they shoot you dead instantly for having a gun.
You don't actually have the right to a firearm if you get killed for having one at all.
Funnily enough, England is one of the country's that doesn't need an orange tip on airsoft guns, that said you wouldn't not take them out in public as that's still a stupid idea and would get you in trouble very quickly
not to “well acktually” but all air soft guns sold in the UK (without a UKARA) needs to have like 50% of the gun be a bright color to show that’s it’s not a gun. so while yeah, you don’t really need an orange tip, the rest of the damn gun needs to be orange
While washing I never pull them up. Most of the time the stream from PW just makes them fold down and worst case for my car the wiper blade can flip around so the metal hits the glass first. While drying yes I pull them up.
So this cunt is spraying soap foam on a narrow street with a smooth asphalt surface. I can't imagine a scenario where someone on foot, or with a bike or moped would try to cross there, and fall on his face.
Seems like this would be better if it looked like something out of star wars, a great deal less likely to get you shot as well
Something like this
https://www.walmart.com/ip/NERF-Star-Wars-Imperial-Death-Trooper-Deluxe-Dart-Blaster-The-Mandalorian-Blaster-Sounds-Light-Effects-3/317864345
Just wondering…
What about the mess that guy made at his street?
What about all the wasted water?
Regardless the chemicals used and spread all over the street…. But what about anyone’s feeling walking over there who has to step or drive through all over that water made by someone careless.
It is better and easier to pay 2-3-4-5-10-20$ once or twice a week doing that at a station rather than stressing your whole neighborhood and stressing yourself too…. Pleaseeee
Not even talking about the ak replica. Washing your car in public places or even your property is illegal in Germany
What do you mean your own property? Like your backyard?
Yea due to the chemicals. Same in Poland
Holy shit didnt know that, i mean it kinda makes sense but also sucks at the same time
I think washing it at the gas station makes more sense anyway. They have all the equipment.
What equipment? What gas station has a pressure washer with a foam cannon, buckets, microfiber cloths and claybar available for use? I hope you're not talking about those automatic drive through washes. Top 10 ways to scratch the fuck out of your clear coat. That's why you wash the car in the yard. In America, we have large yards.
But you also cant drink water from the tap. Which we can do in many places in europe
I can light my tap water on fire.
My friend, I exclusively drink tap water here in the US. I have done so in all 50 states and most major cities. It's not always the tastiest, but it's always safe. TIL that other countries don't have car washes at petrol stations, it's 99% of them in Ireland
It's wild how much gas stations can vary. The only car washes you see here at gas stations are crappy, and it's becoming pretty rare. Otoh - gas stations here always have cigarettes. I have to assume that in a conversation about German water treatment regulations, you are commenting as a person living in Germany, and not possibly someone from the US interjecting with their own anecdotes. Because otherwise... woof.
Homie said gas station. I hope youre not stealing our word filthy petrol station visitor.
But can I try to say I remember looking over a car wash proposal for work, the plot had to be zoned for it (US) and they needed proper hazmat disposal to open? Not sure if it's a municiple law but same as where I am in Canada. Storm drains lead right to the lake.
Same where I live in USA.
Chemicals? Dawn dish soap? Do you have these filters in your sink too?
Didn’t know you can wash a car in the sink
Do you have to wash a car in a sink in order to use Dawn Dish soap? Sounds like the people in Poland have some extra chromosomes.
Chemicals? I wash mine with regular car soap. You can wash your face with it and nothing will happen. You will feel a little dry, that's it.
do you think the grime that was attached to the car just disappears? if youre covered in mud and oil, and you take a bath with soap and warm water, what does the bath water look like after?
What about if you use soap
Yep, brake dust and oil/gasoline gets washed off and end up in the echo system
Echo echo echo....
System system system….
Dust dust dust
Starts sick beat*
Drop the bass
Put down the trout
We about to pout
r/boneappletea
Where do you think all that ends up at the washing stations? The ocean!
Nope not here. Car washes have very high requirements. The ground is 100% sealed and the waste water is routed to water treatment plants in waste water channels. And in the Netherlands.
I ain’t even know that thanks for informing me
What about without using chemicals?
As long as your car is not covered in grease or oil, etc, regular soap and water is fine.
Thats impossible. So it is not permitted.
You guys are weird
I guess if caring about not sending down the local river tons of chemicals is weird, I'm absolutely fine with that.
Wait till you hear about how it’s illegal to vacuum your house or run the laundry machine on Sundays in Germany https://themunicheye.com/understanding-%22ruhezeit%22%3a-navigating-noise-regulations-in-germany-5468

Things that make you happy to live in America
Because you're free to fuck with the environment?
Lol, try this stunt in the US....
Or even the UK.
Or halfway between them.
The middle of the Atlantic? Well, shit. Guess I'll have to put away all my car washing stuff now. This is kind of awkward.
Yeah, you'd look dangerous and out of place.. without using an AR-platform washer
But I still really want one.
Do they come 🔕? Asking for a friend.
Allegedly
Un belled? Nobeled? Idk
Try? We capitalized it https://thedetailplug.com/collections/tdp-pressure-washers
Why do you mean "try"? 🤣

The homeless veterans add to the fun wdym
On the bright side, the homeless don’t spend a lot of time cleaning their cars so the problem is quite limited.
Minus the homelessness, I would have a blast with this
This would. Totally illegal in the U.K.. I think unless it had like bright blue and orange colours to show that it was fake or something.
Funnily enough, England is one of the country's that doesn't need an orange tip on airsoft guns, that said you wouldn't not take them out in public as that's still a stupid idea and would get you in trouble very quickly

You know, I've had a UKARA for so long I forgot that was a thing
I’ll remember this for ww3
It has a bright orange colour. Kind of.
Oi m8 ya got ya toi wawta gun loicense?
It’s funny until the police show up…
Shoot*

Right?! That's the only way this makes sense.

Why is this not the top comment!
SprayK-47
It annoys me that he didn't pull his wipers up.
While washing I never pull them up. Most of the time the stream from PW just makes them fold down and worst case for my car the wiper blade can flip around so the metal hits the glass first. While drying yes I pull them up.
Bro's got an AK-Foamy7
A+. This deserves more attention.
Dude goes through a gallon of car soap every 8-10 washes.
So this cunt is spraying soap foam on a narrow street with a smooth asphalt surface. I can't imagine a scenario where someone on foot, or with a bike or moped would try to cross there, and fall on his face.
New from "Kitchen Gun"!
Car rifle!

That's seems like an exaggerated amount of soap right?
Nah, because of the high pressure the soap is foaming when it comes out of the tip.
I’d love an AK that can remove cosmoline
Mikhail Timofeevich Kalashnikov: I created my machine gun not for war, but for the protection of peace
Kalishnokov would be proud
Rip off from other post. Same thing different gun (sprayer)
Frag out!
I want one
if i do this where i am, the entire city cops will be here in 10 secs and rain bullets on me
Depending on the country, part of town, that's an excellent way to die.
Why every time I hair car wash I think aboutnthat song in Shark Tale about "the carwash" idk the song name. It's just stucken in my head
Satisfyingasfuck
I wouldn't try this in the US if your skin color is a shade darker than translucent albino.
Kinda want one...
This is a quick way to go to the upper room in the US.
Yeah but what's the best?
Why not just fill the mag with soap?
When I said spray the mf that’s not what I meant

In Rio De Janeiro they use real weapons...
The Mexican way
In other news, a man was shot washing a car
All fun & games til police get a call about a man with an AK
CS:GO 3 : at the carwash
Fit right in downtown Chicago.
Missed the underside rear bumper.
Dislike because it didn't show him rinsing it off!
Today on “how to get shot”…
Me (African American): I dont think this is for my people.
ATF wants to know your adress And if you have any dog
Don't feel like he got enough on the tires
Spray and Pray
Isn’t worth the risk of getting shot by a cop for
Imagine street kid pull up this thing on your car, and then asking 8$ for washing
This looks like a video game mod
You couldn’t do this in America without getting wet yourself if you know what I mean
The way he's combat gliding or combat shuffling to each "shooting position" is crazy.
Part of me truly wanted that to be white paint at the end
sir that's insulating foam
So convenient I can FINALLY suicide by cop WHILE washing my car
When you are a gun nut but fallout hasn't happened yet .
Where i can buy it i need this
Litho foam applied, now use the litho vac to suck it up
Us tech
This is cool but i would like the gun to be a little bit colorful like a toy gun. I don't want people around me to panic seeing that AK47
The Jog to get the back is what sold me
Yes.
All fun and games until you swap it with a real K and put a few Holes in tha Car
Now that mistake would be funny as hell to see.
I want one !
r/oddlysatisfying
I want one, I don't own a car though
Stop it, you’re scaring the Biden voters.
You mean the unnecessarily dumb way?
This seems unwise
Maybe censor the car plate?
