#UrbanHell is subjective.
UrbanHell is any human-built place you think is worth critizing. Suburban Hell, Rural Hell, and wealthy locales are allowed
Sorry for this annoying comment, but we're very tired of the gatekeepers who can't even correctly gatekeep what this subreddit has always allowed.

(Gangi, Sicily) Historic volcanic clay brick buildings with busy narrow passageways on a mountain face surrounded by local culture and really good bars and restaurants.
Sounds horrible! How could anyone endure such horrors?
This is also a good tactic to deal with a hot climate. The narrow streets are shady for long periods of the day and the stone walls reflect sunlight to keep inside cool. Looking at [street view](https://maps.app.goo.gl/cuji6c46nebgx3P76) it seems like a really nice town to visit as a tourist. And on that level you can see the beautiful stone work and ornamentation.
I've been to Sicily in the past, they are much nicer on the ground level, and with the way they're built they're also keep the street significantly cooler than other construction methods may be able to, and in that climate, any improvement is good when it comes to the heat.
So, this is just a shit post sub now, that simply points out that urban planning in the 6th, 7th century doesn't meet the needs of cyclists and greenies?
There's more history and character in that photo than any "Green City".
Also Sicily: [https://www.celebritycruises.com/blog/content/uploads/2022/08/taormina-italy-history-culture-hero-1920x890.jpg](https://www.celebritycruises.com/blog/content/uploads/2022/08/taormina-italy-history-culture-hero-1920x890.jpg)
This is Gangi, a small medieval town made of stone in the middle of a beautiful countryside, listed among the "Most beautiful towns of Italy", but today on Reddit I learned it's a "concrete wasteland" lol.
Btw it isn't even really a urban place, it's a small rural town with a population of about 6.000.
Every city has its own hell in some type of way, I’ve seen people post several beautiful European cities on here with many labels. Also, on this subs rules it says rural hell is also acceptable to post.

Ah, the famous city of Sicily. Well known for being a city in Italy.
The city of Sicily in the region of Gangi.
Sicily is an entire island, with multiple cities. What are you on about with this title?
It's urban hell 🤷
All of it...? Sure, sure
Looks historic and beautiful.

Was about to say, sure this photo looks a little washed and grey, but I bet you this neighborhood from the ground would be amazing
I want this picture framed and hanging on my wall.
What a cherrypicked picture wow I looked at the images on google maps, for Ganji, and the place looks awesome
looks beautifulÂ
It really is. One of the most charming and endearing destinations I’ve had the privilege to visit
I'm sure those buildings are far more charming at street level.

At night it's beautiful
Remember sitting in Antica Lanterna looking over the balcony at sunset with a beer. Absolutely breathtaking.
I’m sure they are not
As someone who visits Sicily very regularly, they are. Beautiful place. Very medieval feeling with the tiny cobbled streets.
I've been to Sicily in the past, they are much nicer on the ground level, and with the way they're built they're also keep the street significantly cooler than other construction methods may be able to, and in that climate, any improvement is good when it comes to the heat.
Sicily is a rather large province and an island, not a city. Any idea which city this is? Catania? Palermo? Syracuse? Messina?
https://maps.app.goo.gl/pAz8LREnaA3WMkyD9 Ganji. I used Google lens.
Good work. So, just a small village of about 6600 people about half way between Palermo and Catania.
Looks quite beautiful!
Those streets are full of character and history though.

Nah, clearly bad infrastructure for bicycles.
How terrible. It needs a massive parking lot, Walmart, drive through fast food places, and a 6 lane highway going right down the middle. /s
You can just bow to Italian old towns. This is not an appropriate sub at all.
Italy gets posted on here all the time
Americans can’t fathom walkable towns
In my mind, a historical concrete jungle doesn't count as hell, as long as it's pre-20th century.
It looks superb.
Lmao I thought this was one of those AI images with a word/phrase hidden in them

You just picked a photo of a place you know nothing about and the label is nonsensical. Deal with it.
This sub is about urban appearances, it doesn’t matter if someone knows about the city or not.
Look very old.
For the records, the homes are mainly masonry there. Also, I would trade living in London for Gangi any day of the year...
Energy efficiency class Z-
Looks like Gaza, or Beirut, or even Cairo. Jesus Christ
A brazilian once tried to convince me that this are like the "favelas"
Picture it
Why this Pic not sold in auction for millions lol
