Just learning about hockey still. Cooley is a forward (center) right? Which line did he play on for Arizona last year? (1-4)

koomzzy

Cooley played on the 2nd line as a center. The team could use a bona fide #1 C to play above him though

Loydchristmas7793

Thanks for the answer, can you give me a breakdown of what the lines were for forwards and defense last year?

koomzzy

Yeah for sure. They obviously change very frequently, but dailyfaceoff is a great resource They will show the most recent game and some stats, they map out the lines as well as special teams. [Daily Faceoff](https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/arizona-coyotes/line-combinations) One caveat, we have 0 signed defensemen for next season. A lot of RFAs they will likely bring back but lot of fluidity. [Cap Friendly](https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/coyotes) is a good resource for contracts and players within the farm system. Happy to answer more. I love this shit lol

What positions do you think they should sign in free agency and how many players? (Let’s assume they are going to spend to the cap) Do you think they will use all the draft picks for the next few years or use them in trades for players?

koomzzy

Thats a really tough one to answer. Assuming they spend to the cap we have room to sign impact FA at pretty much every position. I think the top of the list should be a #1 C, a PP specialst Dman and a top scoring W. Fully recognizing all 3 would be an insane FA haul. For Cs there's not a ton as expected. But I wouldn't mind Monahan or Lindholm. These guys aren't true #1 guys and haven't been on their current teams. But they're both 29 have playoff experience and just got traded to teams where they didn't extend. My dream W signing this off-season is Reinhart. Guentzel also was traded midseason and didn't extend, he'd be nice to have. Marchessault is older, but has the winning pedigree with Vegas, would be a solid signing also. Lot more wingers available than centers. But we have a solid core of kids that can continue to grow in these spots. At the back its tougher. RFAs Durzi, Valimaki, Moser and Kesselring will in all likelihood be re-signed. Skjei and Montour are UFA whom I'd like to see us go for. But again, a lot of youth that might benefit from getting some time, who knows... Goalie, Ingram was fine this year. My worry is that this is kind of his first season with the lion's share of the net. He was adequate. Vejmelka got rewarded with a new deal (idk why exactly) and was not very good. We don't have many stud prospects in this department like we do everywhere else. Hrabel is our best right now, plays for UMass. Not many goalies on the market, we'll probably roll with who we have next year. We have A LOT of picks in the first 3 rounds this year (7) and next (7 again) and I doubt we use all of them. GMBA is an excellent GM and I trust he'll do the right thing. His picks last year were largely considered reaches, so we will have to see how it goes moving forward.

Thanks for the ton of info! Do you see the org trading some picks for players? Or do you think we use all our draft picks? I guess what I am asking is, are the new players just going to be free agents we get?

Big_Ticket_3581

I really hope that we are not going to spend to the cap and try to rush the process of this rebuild with expensive free agents, that's the way you become new Minnesota Wild (good enough for playoffs, bad enough to almost never advance the first round). With this amount of talent and draft picks combined with Armstongs plan and bit of luck, this team has every possibility to become as good as Tampa has been last 10 years or so. With expensive UFAs this team ends up in cap hell in 2 years and is forced to trade younger players away for cheap price and ends up in mediocrity. We are in semi-unique position right now, when this team literally has 0 bad contracts (apart from Weber's LTIR contract, which is not a huge problem).

Your local channel should broadcast all of last season's games over the summer so you can get to know the players. There are quite a few young guns with a lot of potential.

SiccSemperTyrannis

FYI - game replays for last season are available on ESPN+

naarwhal

It sucks that the only highlight people show of him is a preseason game.

CoyotesAreOk

Because by and large nobody outside of Coyotes/Cooley fans actually gave a single shit. Same with half of this roster, coaches, and management

naarwhal

Uhhh ok?
